I went by yesterday (monday) they were closed. So, I just HAD to drop by today. This place is amazing. I come here anytime I am in town. Great customer service. I brought my cousin (also from out of town) to try but she could only have the macaroons as she is gf. That would probably b my only complaint; not enough gluten-free goodies. I love that they switch the items on the menu so everytime I come, I get to try something new. It's so good I figured the baker was maybe french. Perhaps the owners choose, understandably, to keep things simple and focus on the best deliciousness around, but it would only be made better if it were a bigger place with more comfortable seating and ambiance. This place is in a league of it's own here in El Paso. Everything they offer is of the highest quality, to include their coffee. My family especially loves the macaroons, banana cream puffs and almond croissants, but we're looking forward to trying their tiramisu, eclairs... and everything else they offer. Oh yes yes yes. I received a Yelp message about Bella Cora bakery this morning and decided to drop by for some baked goods. I entered the shop and the smell automatically made me happy. The case was beautiful and filled with sweets and there were trays of various loaf breads. I ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie, various scones, and an almond croissant. They looked so delicious that I rushed to my car and quickly bit into the almond croissant. It tasted like HEAVEN. I have now found my daily bakery and my breakfast treat. We purchased lots of different things here at around 9:30 am. Most of the stuff we got weren't fresh. Fruit tart's custard was grainy. Chocolate hazelnut cream cake tasted weird. Eclairs were so bad, I wouldn't even call them eclairs. Tiramisu was ok, but on the very heavy side. Charlotte was ok too, but did not feel fresh, I think it was from the previous day or older. Macarons were so chevy and they had a strange taste. Maybe it's the butter they use or some artificial flavor but we didn't like them. Overall, most of the things were ok but not worth the calories you'll get from them. We were just passing by, so we don't know if it's good in El Paso standards, but the products weren't decent or delicious according to us. read more

I have been wanting to come here for some time. I've always wanted to try macaroons. After reading several reviews about the desserts. I was set and today that day came. I went in and it smelled pretty good, like sweet breads. The shop was small and tidy. I ordered a variety set of macaroons. My wife was enchanted by the look of some of the tarts. She settled on the Passion fruit (lilikoi) raspberry one. I had the knock knock, the reference is an adult ding ding. The macroon that we tried was a lemon one, it tasted like biting into the perfect lemon. It had the texture of a marshmallow. The Knock Knock, was double the size of a ding ding. It had a bitter chocolate that had a crab filling in it that I think had been made with hazelnut. Giving this chocolate condition an almost burnt taste that accentuates it by killing some of the richness of the chocolate. The raspberry passion fruit tart. It was heavenly, never in mutt life had I ever felt like I had gone full blown diabetic with instant itis. It was a thermonuclear flavor profile of awesome. Go as soon as you can. After they won the Best Bakery in EP I had to go check them out, especially since they are on my side of town. The hubby and I went there after a movie. I ordered the tiramisu and he ordered a tart. The tiramisu was frozen in the middle. Because it was frozen it was all watery and had ice flakes in the middle. The very center was frozen solid. It was also very bitter, like they used way tok much coffee in the recipe. Due to the fact that we had ordered "to go" it's not like I could do too much about it, and I didn't want to drive all the way back. The hubby's tart was way too sweet, like one bite and you feel like you're getting a cavity. Needless to say I was disappointed that the pastries we had were not indicative of their "best bakery" status. We've had much better pastries from other bakeries and even restaurants. I've heard the buzz about this place for months but living on the far east side never made the trip over, I'm so happy I finally did! My daughter came here with her troop and let me say the owner is FANTASTIC! So patient and honestly happy to interact with kids plus he is passionate about what he does and it shows from explaining the ingredients in a shortbread to asking how your day is going he alone is worth driving the 45 min from my side of town for. Now onto the food......AMAZING! Seriously you cannot go wrong with any selection. We tried a 5 pack of macarons (chocolate was our fave with coffee a close second), a hazelnut chocolate cake (which my son went crazy over) and a brownie (decadent doesn't cover it) all were excellent. The staff aside from chef Bowden was also outstanding, they were helpful and just all around nice. If you have any doubts about coming here believe me you will not be dissapointed. Oh wow, the butter croissants here are LEGIT! They're crisp and flaky on the outside, buttery, airy and chewy on the inside: in a word, perfect. I've had croissants all over the world and these are among the best I've had this side of the Atlantic. They make a perfect breakfast when drizzled with just a little honey and accompanying a cappuccino. I originally came to Belle Sucre for the macarons, but I keep coming for the butter croissants! Now for everything else, the desert display is lovely to look at and many of the confections are almost too pretty to eat...almost. The macarons are also amazing, like two-bite pieces of sunshine and happiness. These flavors top my list of "must try:" passion fruit, blood orange, guava, and pineapple tamarind. I've tried many of the other flavors, but the bright and slightly tart fruit flavors are hands-down my favorites. I'll definitely be back the next time I roll through the area! read more

I have been a customers for a few years now and I think it's the best in town; however, last saturday as I have been doing for a few weeks, I went to get my Cranberry and Walnuts bread only to find that some of the walnuts on the bread were rancid. With the name change was there a management change also? Is someone in charge of quality control? I am normally not a fan sweets but this place has one of the most delicious chocolate cakes that has ever hit my mouth. Their fruit tarts are also superb. I also had a piece of their mothers day cake which looked like it was going to be a sugar frosting bomb but was extremely well balanced i dont think ive ever tasted buttercream so natural tasting, sweet but not over the top sweet, beautiful presentations good bread, various macaroon flavors etc. Pricey but 100% worth every dollar. read more

Usually go in a few times a week for a couple baguettes and muffins. Went by last night and was greeted by some not so friendly ladies who had ZERO desire to wait on me at all. And let me say it wasnt because they were busy. I felt like I was interuptting their entirely in Spanish conversation and should have just not bothered coming in. If i wanted this kind of treatment I could have gone to any other place in EP. On the west side I look forward to someone speaking English to me because I live in the US. Shame Shame Belle Sucre. I guess you value cheap labor over good service. Dont get me wrong there is usually great service here but its always the same girl who works nights and the owner is less than desirable to have to deal with. It is pityful to only have one person in a place with so much potentiel that can keep customers coming back. I have personally witnessed the owner talking to the employees with less respect than the employees at McDonalds are treated which probably explains the turn over I have seen here since going when the business opened last year. From one business owner to another if not for customers you will fail. I have several times asked about making of different items like I did last night and I get the same response THE CHEF doesn't do that or we do mostly wholesale, so close your retail business because you obviously dont care about us lowly retail customers. read more
