Little hidden gem. Easy to drive by as it is part of the gas station. It's like this could have been Subway or something in the past. But that doesn't matter as this place is great. This is a hidden gem that you will just drive past and not think about it. I had the Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and the sauce was so creamy and rich, the noodles were super tender (not over cooked) just perfect and the shrimp were done right too. The food was packed in a hit tin, with an aluminum/ cardboard lid and a plastic cover. Well cooked, and well packed and hot! I added the Greek salad and it was fresh, crisp lettuce with big cucumber slices and lots of feta cheese. Banana peppers, black olives, red onion slices and a cold vinegar and olive oil mixture on the side. I know people joke about gas station sushi, and that is probably good advice. This Italian food stop is attached to the gas station, but is far from it when you look at quality, quantity, flavor and great value this is a worthy stop any day or for a special day. I did not go inside, and used the drive through, it was very convenient. I could see people inside in what looked like a comfortable and welcoming place to sit and dine. DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP! We are only here for one night on our way further south and wanted a sit-down dinner. Our family had the breadsticks (which looks like what we Ohioans call a white pizza), a few pasta dishes, a sub, and a pizza. The dough was clearly homemade and truly one of the most delicious doughs we've ever had. The tomato sauce on my spaghetti was authentic and better than I've had in any other restaurant. (Seriously.) Our server was super attentive even though she was the only one on the floor in this small restaurant. If we were local, this would be a favorite. The pizza is really good and my server was nice and helpful. No one was wearing a mask except me. When I asked an employee if there was a mask mandate in Virginia, she said no. We were on our way back to to Buffalo, NY from FL and had gotten a hotel in this vicinity. They were the only place that was open pretty late and would still deliver to our hotel room. My husband had a Tuna Sandwich with fries. I had the baked spaghetti and boy was it delicious. They are so generous with their portions it was ridiculous! I actually had leftovers to eat the next day when we got home. I would highly recommend this gem. My husband and I came to Dugspur for our fifth year anniversary this past weekend. I'm not eating much these days, but prepared breakfast at our cabin, and we ventured out each night for dinner. First night in town, we decided to give a "Hillsville favorite" a try, with 4.5 stars. The next night, another "favorite" with an almost perfect rating. Today, I wanted something simple, as I was let down by both restaurants. Please be wary of the reviews of other places in this area. This place is NO JOKE. My husband and I both said it was the best meal we had while we were here, and we meant it. Real garlic on the garlic bread for $1.50! You can't beat that! I wanted to fight my husband for the last piece of it lol. Then came the pizza. Yes, simple. Yes, you can get that anywhere. But, it was incredible. The service was impeccable and the price was amazing (we spent $130 easily at these other "favorite places" and were so disappointed.) We didn't even break $20 at this place. We ate at this restaurant yesterday and my son ordered a cheese steak sandwich. When we went to pay, we were charged an additional $4.00. I asked what the charge was for, the waitress said it was for additional toppings on the sandwich. My son only ordered 1 additional topping and on the menu it says .25 cents each additional topping. My husband and I have a vacation home in Fancy Gap. We look forward to having at lease one meal every day at Bella Italia because it is so good and the servers are very personable and friendly. Their Sicilian pizza is the best we ever had, the baked spaghetti and the steak and cheese calzone are all the very best we've ever had. We highly recommend this restaurant over any we've visited in Hillsville and we've visited several. If it had 10 stars, we rate it a 10. That's how much we like it. read more

My husband and I are real "foodies.." We are always searching for excellent food....Who knew that we would find just that in Hillsville, Virginia, a small town on HW 52. Bella italia is an amazing restaurant....I really don't understand how anyone could possibly fault the food in any way. We have had the best experiences here and we are pretty much addicted to the quality of the food, the friendliness of the waitresses and the pleasant but small dining room...I have ordered both the calzones and the cheese steak sandwiches. They are absolutely astounding....every bite is wonderful....the "small" calzone is enough for two meals... The taste is absolutely delightful. AND I can even drink root beer with my meals! Bella Italia is our favorite restaurant by far! (We've recently moved to the area) This is definitely a quality issue..wonderful flavorful food...Calzones that arrive brown, crisp and brushed with garlic butter...this is perfection at a really excellent price!
