    Two-Slice Lunch Special

Best Restaurant in Oley? Sure... why not? With the demise of the Oley Valley Inn, Bella Italia is the current recipient of the Greg P. Award for "Best Restaurant in Oley." A somewhat dubious honor in that Oley is a culinary wasteland. Yep, if you're hungry and in Oley, your choices are pretty much limited to sandwich/pizza shops or Chinese. Or the fried chicken from the Weis (which surprisingly doesn't suck). Hey, four years ago we didn't even have Chinese and now we have two, so who knows? Maybe some day we'll have Moroccan, or Thai, or maybe even sushi. I can dream, right? In the mean time, Bella Italia is your best bet in the sandwich/pizza category. Pizza is a very personal thing indeed, but for my money, their pizza is the best in the valley. Thin crust, more or less in the New York Style. They have a 2-slice pizza lunch special that is a very good deal. Quite delicious and the slices are ridiculously huge. As they should be. Try it. I'm also a fan of the antipasto salad. They now offer a smaller size salad that is more appropriate for those days when I'm concerned about such things. They offer the standard variety of sandwiches that seem to cater well to the philistine tastes of the Oleans (Oleyites? Oleanos?) Really, their sandwiches aren't bad. Not as good as V&S, but not bad at all. I should point out that they also offer a range of Italian dinner items. I have to admit that I've not been there for dinner but have noticed that they seem to draw a pretty good dinner crowd. They are BYOB, so if you go for dinner, bring a bottle of your favorite vino if you like. One thing that sets Bella Italia apart from the other sandwich shops is that it's a fairly large and spacious restaurant. It's easy to get comfortable here. Four stars for good food, good value, and consistently good service.

Our sad heart pizza with burnt/hard edges no spinach and only half had broccoli, not per our request.

I'm so sad with our order tonight. My husband ordered a large white pizza with broccoli and spinach in the shape of a heart for valentine's day. When he got there he was told they were out of spinach. Upon arriving home we saw that they only put broccoli on half of the pizza and it was quite small. It was thin which is fine but the crust was completely hard and burnt at many spots. We frequent Bella Italia often and have never been so disappointed with what we received before tonight

It's not too bad and most of the people are really nice. I have went here a great number of times. There is one guy there that absolutely cannot cook to save his life. I have ordered from there about 6 times while he was working and EVERY SINGLE time the order was either not correct, missing things, or just horrible. The last straw was an order of chicken cheese steaks - drove 20 minutes home and they were beef. No one in the house eats beef. I called and let them know, they said to come back. I got back and nothing was really offered for my time and disappointment. Mind you, I ordered fries, which by the time I finished with all the back and forth were no good. Open the, now supposed to be, chicken cheese steaks and they were both filled with charred chunks. They weren't charred chunks of chicken, it was what ever was cooked on the grilled before them. He couldn't be bothered to scrape the grill like most people do in restaurants. I tried to eat it and it just tasted like chicken mixed with burnt beef. So now, instead of ordering ahead, I drive all the way there to see if the man with the mohawk (now has a bald head) is working. If he is, I go elsewhere.

Best Pizza I have ever had in Berks County !!!! If you ever around Oley try tuna pizza.

Pizza was very greasy, soggy, and floppy. Definitely would not recommend. There are much better choices available.

This was unpleasant and Was not a formal way of having Easter dinner. The music was not inviting but was suited for a youth crowd. Classical or instrumental would have been classy/relaxing & inviting to hear while having dinner. Unfortunately, the salmon was very dry. The Ham & the Peep cocktail was good however. The interior is beautiful and it was very well crafted.

The food here has always been good although they've changed the menu a few times since the grand opening. I'm a little sad that they removed the ribeye steak from the menu and now only have a filet mignon as a steak option. But there are plenty of good choices and everything i've had has been good. On my last visit we ordered the Greek Slate as an appetizer. It was outstanding! Such a beautiful presentation and very tasty. I highly recommend this appetizer if you're a fan of the Mediterranean. On my visits the service has always been good. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is excellent. It's a GREAT place to go for a special occasion but also really nice for lunch or a casual dinner. This is my new first choice on those occasions when I have to take a client out to lunch.

A fall chill was in the air, however the heat was ablazing at the Inn. Downgrade for atmosphere in the temperature. Like we wished we were all dressed for summer. Really unappealing in how hot it was. Especially in that we were seated for awhile with a larger party. However, all the sweat was worth the food. The food was great. Really solid. We over ordered but had the chance to enjoy a vary of menu. Our experience in the extensive cocktail menu was nice. Top tier martini selection. We've enjoyed before at The Martini Bar upstairs and at dinner now, as well. Onto the food- Slower paced, but we needed the spacing with our courses. Appetizers included the Baked Brie in Puffed Pastry, the Escargot and Crab & Artichoke Dip. All devoured. All large portions. The brie was creamy and flaky, almost did not need all the bread accompanying. The escargot should have been renamed as mushroom toast. No overt snail, but the mushrooms were gorgeous!! Multi species, woodsy, buttery. The crab dip was creamy, with noticeable dollops of both crab and artichoke. Discernible and delightful. And chips- flash fried fresh. Entrees ordered took a bit to arrive. But as said, we needed the time to digest. Entrees around were the Burger, Steak Diane, Veal Oscar, Crab Cake, and Scallops Provençal. The restaurant was very accommodating with my mother's picky nature. She modified the single crab cake with a baked potato sub and applesauce. Just enough for her to be happy. On entrees will start with the Goods- The Burger tasted fine, no flair and crisp chips. The Steak Diane was juciy, lots of herby mushroom and beautiful roasted potatoes. French Onion Soup- brothy, cheesy, but a bit too much sherry. The Betters- Crab Cake and Baked Potatoes. The crab cake was pure, not much filler and kept structure. Each potato was baked well, skin smokey in a sliceable potato bite. The Best- Hello Oscar! We were so impressed with the tender, white, huge lumps of crab in the veal sauce. Extraordinary in offering. Then Scallops!!!!! My dish. Wow. Just wow. Put me into the category of scallop snob. I make them at home regularly and can tell when the cook is complete just by the smell. These came out & smelled and looked perfect. Sunk that fork in. Ahhhhh. No resistance. Seared beautiful outside and perfect pillow inside. Divine. One of the best scallop dishes. I WILL eat this again! Standout star of the menu. One creme brûlée finished the meal as the birthday dessert. Caramel sugar crisp, but a bit unstructured, a little too runny. We will be back to The Bridge Inn.... .....But maybe next time we'll dress in layers. Well done.
