Tonight was our second order here with the new owners, and the second time food was wrong. First time ordered Bella Special Stromboli and got an Italian when I got home. Tonight they gave me $5 off from the last incorrect order, only to have the order wrong again! I paid for an XL pepperoni pizza, and received cheese only. I also ordered another Bella Special Stromboli no peppers. It has peppers, no biggie I'll pick them off.... But there is almost nonexistent steak in there. The cheese pizza is good. For years was an M&M fan, but, after a few bad attempts to get a grilled veggie sandwich done right, went here and WOW! I have been vegetarian for over 25 years and this is the BEST sandwich I have ever had. Tell them grilled mushrooms, onions, sweet peppers, their PERFECT sauce and then Your choice of cheese and they STUFF that roll . The fries are crispy and delicious and most times I eat the fries with the sandwich filling and I am so full! Tried a handful of different items here, none of which were impressive. Let's start with the Buffalo wings- soggy, light on the sauce and rather sad looking. They tasted like they were reheated with the sauce already on them instead of fried fresh. Also, they forgot my bleu cheese. Next up, the pizza. Plain cheese and actually not bad. Thinner crust but greasy so it lost what could have been a good feature. It's a decent football watching pie. Lastly, the Italian Stromboli- this thing was massive. Don't waste your money, almost $10 for a large ham and cheese only to get home and realize that there were four pieces of ham and three pieces of cheese. I thought the sandwich was ham and cheese because primary ingredient would've been ham, I'm this case it should've been an onion and lettuce sandwich with a slight taste of cheese and a hint of ham. Best Restaurant in Oley? Sure... why not? With the demise of the Oley Valley Inn, Bella Italia is the current recipient of the Greg P. Award for "Best Restaurant in Oley." A somewhat dubious honor in that Oley is a culinary wasteland. Yep, if you're hungry and in Oley, your choices are pretty much limited to sandwich/pizza shops or Chinese. Or the fried chicken from the Weis (which surprisingly doesn't suck). Hey, four years ago we didn't even have Chinese and now we have two, so who knows? Maybe some day we'll have Moroccan, or Thai, or maybe even sushi. I can dream, right? In the mean time, Bella Italia is your best bet in the sandwich/pizza category. Pizza is a very personal thing indeed, but for my money, their pizza is the best in the valley. Thin crust, more or less in the New York Style. They have a 2-slice pizza lunch special that is a very good deal. Quite delicious and the slices are ridiculously huge. As they should be. Try it. I'm also a fan of the antipasto salad. They now offer a smaller size salad that is more appropriate for those days when I'm concerned about such things. They offer the standard variety of sandwiches that seem to cater well to the philistine tastes of the Oleans (Oleyites? Oleanos?) Really, their sandwiches aren't bad. Not as good as V&S, but not bad at all. I should point out that they also offer a range of Italian dinner items. I have to admit that I've not been there for dinner but have noticed that they seem to draw a pretty good dinner crowd. They are BYOB, so if you go for dinner, bring a bottle of your favorite vino if you like. One thing that sets Bella Italia apart from the other sandwich shops is that it's a fairly large and spacious restaurant. It's easy to get comfortable here. Just stopped in on a quick hungry whim. Excellent choice!!! My husband and I both ordered a slice and a small sub. The people were super friendly and even told us how to make our order a little cheaper. When the slices came out (his a plain slice & mine buffalo chicken stuffed slice) they were humongous!!!!! I've had entire pizzas that were smaller than them! They were each only $3.75 a slice. My slice was an entire meal. I could only take a single bit of my tuna sub just to see how it was. It was very good also. My husband managed to eat his slice and half his sub. He said it was the BEST meatball sub he thinks he has ever had. Put it this way, I don't leave reviews normally, but as soon as we got into the car, I looked at how to leave one. If you get the chance and you are close, stop in. It's worth the stop! Stopped in for a couple quick slices. I ordered a plain slice which was huge (like from a 22 or 24" pie) and my wife ordered a couple Sicilian slices. We decided to split the food and both enjoyed the plain slice. The Sicilian didn't have a enough tomato sauce and was just OK. The place isn't fancy, but offers a nice, warm atmosphere. The quality has gone wayyy down. Garlic bread was almost black from how burnt it was, the salad that came with our spaghetti was just lettuce and black olives, and the broccoli cheese bites have bacon (even though they are not advertised as such). I'm so sad with our order tonight. My husband ordered a large white pizza with broccoli and spinach in the shape of a heart for valentine's day. When he got there he was told they were out of spinach. Upon arriving home we saw that they only put broccoli on half of the pizza and it was quite small. It's not too bad and most of the people are really nice. I have went here a great number of times. There is one guy there that absolutely cannot cook to save his life. I have ordered from there about 6 times while he was working and EVERY SINGLE time the order was either not correct, missing things, or just horrible. The last straw was an order of chicken cheese steaks - drove 20 minutes home and they were beef. No one in the house eats beef. I called and let them know, they said to come back. I got back and nothing was really offered for my time and disappointment. Mind you, I ordered fries, which by the time I finished with all the back and forth were no good. Open the, now supposed to be, chicken cheese steaks and they were both filled with charred chunks. They weren't charred chunks of chicken, it was what ever was cooked on the grilled before them. He couldn't be bothered to scrape the grill like most people do in restaurants. I tried to eat it and it just tasted like chicken mixed with burnt beef. So now, instead of ordering ahead, I drive all the way there to see if the man with the mohawk (now has a bald head) is working. If he is, I go elsewhere. read more

Decided to try this place rather than our usual sandwich shop because we were in the mood for a sit-down dinner.....wrong choice! You are just supposed to sit yourself so we did and people that came in after us had their waitress before we had ours. She seemed like she had never waitressed a day in her life before. She was unsure about EVERYTHING, unable to answer our questions. My French fries were good but came to the table 5-10 minutes before the rest of the food which was strange. Overall, food took a long time to come out. My husband ordered a chicken parm platter that came with salad and bread. She forgot both the salad and bread and we had to ask her about them after his chicken had already come out. She also did not give him utensils and we had to wait 5 minutes for her to bring utensils with the salad. read more

I'm a local. I ate here a lot. But now I give up. The staff are hit or miss. I've had them send me out with the wrong orders, incomplete orders, or even made me wait because they only made half of it. And its not just me. People wait in line for them to unscrew whatever they did. The food isn't bad, when you can get it. It just all depends on the help. So I haven't been back in several months. I enjoy this place, though I rarely eat in. They always have my food ready on time for pick up. The best dish is the Stromboli. I don't think there is anyone in the valley that can beat it. The staff is always friendly. They support local businesses by allowing cards, ads and notices to be posted in their restaurant. A very sweet, very home like place that the police frequent, and that says a lot! The one downfall is that the side dish prices are high and the amount given is almost too much. (fries for example) I wonder if they would offer a half order on that? Pizza is nice, thin and greasy. Which we all love at times! And I appreciate that they accept book donations. I went to Bella Italia thinking this is cool Italian restaurant. I got the stuffed shell pasta, and it was amazing. The pizza slices were huge and you got much more than other pizza slices. The slices I got extra cooked, so crisper then the normal slice of pizza. The pizza was the best pizza I had ever had, and I don't care for the taste of pizza either. The booths were comfy, and yet not super cushiony like a sofa. The service was amazing, and our waitress was very kind. We got a slice of pizza to go. They gave us two paper plates and a paper bag. We got a meatball sub to go, when we reheated it later in the day, it tasted still fresh. Even reheating it, the sub still tasted fresh like it was freshly made. It is very a family friendly restaurant, and many kids would love the Italian cuisine. I've been to Italy, and the food tastes exactly like the food they have in Italy. The garlic bread they brought out was warm and flavorful. It was green flavoring instead of the American take that is red colored. When the salad was brought out, it looked delicious. It was delicious! They let me pick what was on it and what dressing I wanted. They put the dressing in the side, so I could put it on myself. Unlike other restaurants, they didn't put it on themselves. That was the first time I was there, and I was impressed. It's a very authentic Italian restaurant, unlike many others that is the American take on Italian food. Oh wow... I discovered Bella Italia only a month ago. On the first visit I ordered a chicken parmagiana hero. I recently moved from NYC to Oley valley, therefor, crossed my fingers; hoping, hoping, hoping it would be good. It was WAY better than any I'd had in any place in my thirty two years in Manhattan (including the boroughs). The chicken breast was fried cleanly, to perfection. Poor service, very rude waitress! This was our first time at this restaurant. We walked in and there was no one to seat us or great us so we seated ourselves. No waitress came over and there were quite a few working and it was not busy only one table inside and a few outside. My husband went up to the counter to order since there were a few other people waiting up there we thought maybe thats what we were supposed to do. I used to go here at least once a week, but lately when I call in my order they say 20-25 mins I give them 30 because I figure 30 mins should be plenty. The past few times I've come to pick up my pizza and they don't even have it made. I gave them a couple chances and thought ok they are just busy. However last night I ordered two small cold sandwiches I gave them 30 mins stopped to pick up my order told the one gentleman I was there for a pick up for 2 cold sandwiches, he said ok then turned away and started making pizzas. Another young girl then came up and I told her I had placed an order for two cold sandwiches, she said ok went into the kitchen came out empty handed then looked for my ticket and told me they weren't done yet but I could pay a while. At that point I was very upset it takes all but 3 minutes to make an Italian sandwich and they haven't even started. I left without getting my sandwiches and called back to talk to the girl about what had happened and of all things this girl hung up on me!!! No apology just a hang up. This place has really gone down hill I will NEVER return to this shop, I will go to the M&M sandwich shop instead and I will let everyone I know how rude and ignorant these people at bella Italia are. Yeah, um...went in around 8 pm one night. I feared this might be a mistake because they were really ready to go home, but, we decided to stay. A family next to our table had pizza and it looked pretty good. But, we wanted something different. My girlfriend got chicken parmesan and I went with the lobster ravioli. We were so hungry. In the meantime, they were cleaning to hurry up and go home. The intense smell of bleach fumigated the entire restaurant. How appetizing! That was the highlight of the evening because from there, it went way downhill. My girlfriend ate about 1/3 of her chicken parm and said, "This just doesn't taste fresh." To their credit, she offered to make something else. She gave us some appetizers for free. My lobster ravioli was a joke! It was basically runny, thin sauce with tiny, tiny bits of something that had the texture of a lobster. The "ravioli" part...I mean, come on. Once you have real lobster ravioli, it's easy to spot non-sense and this was it. Unfortunately, it didn't end here. My poor girlfriend got up about 3 a.m. with vomiting. I am still mad about that. I can't fault the waitress at all...in fact, I left her a $10 tip. She was a really good waitress. But, this place just needs to go on ahead and shut the damn doors before you hurt somebody.
