Very good pizza. Family owned restaurant. The salad was nothing to write home about but it's a pizza shop not a salad store.

Never delivered food and refused to offer refund. My card got charged twice so I am out over $50 and I still didn't get my food.

I looked high and low for a place that serves 'Nduja (spreadable salami) in Knoxville/ surrounding areas, and Amici is where I found it. It isn't something that you can find easily here, so I was excited to take him here, knowing he would be excited. We had a corner table, I sat on the booth side, which i'm 5'5, but the booth is a bit tall, so I couldn't place my feet on the floor. It honestly didn't bother me, there were pillows to prop for the bench seating and I was fine. We started with an appetizer (which I really wanted to try) the Arancini. Just WOW, they were big in size, and absolutely mouthwatering, flavorful and delectable. They were perfectly fried, were crisp, just the right hotness, and the pomodoro could be eaten by the spoonful. Honestly everything was great, but that appetizer still has me thinking about it. I ordered the Fig and Prosciutto pizza on sourdough and my boyfriend ordered a Four Cheese with 'Nduja. My pizza was good, sweet, salty and savory. He enjoyed his 'Nduja, but it was a bit different consistency that he was used to. They did say they made it in house which was nice for authenticity. For his birthday we ordered the Zeppole (its like a fried donut with a lemon glaze) - not my forte personally, because if it's not chocolate it isn't worth the calories- but it's not my birthday, hah. He absolutely loved the Zeppole and had dreams about. Over all we had a pleasant experience. Trust me, don't sleep on those Arancini.

My son had the pizza which really good, it's made with sourdough crust. I had the chicken parm over spaghetti and the chicken was cooked to perfection and the sauce is full of flavor. My son had trout risotto and he said there were so many flavors....squash, zucchini, tomatoes. Peas, shallots, tomatoes. He said it was a flavorful explosion that works. One of the founders,Taylor, was so welcoming and personable. We leave TN in a couple of days but my son and his family will come back for sure.

It's a small independent business and you can tell the pride and effort they put into their pizza. The pizza took a long time to arrive - I was glad we ordered the calamari appetizer, which was sprinkled with red pepper flakes. It was spicy, lightly crispy, and delicious with their sauce on the side. If you don't like spicy food ask them to hold the pepper flakes. I thought they made a mistake and gave us the arrabbiata calamari instead, but the sweet server told us that one comes smothered in a spicy sauce. There are large TVs with any type of sports on so you can watch while you wait. There have a small bar area as well if you want to pop in for a slice and a drink. As soon as we took our first bite of the Grandma pizza, we immediately looked at each other and said it was absolutely worth the wait! Apparently the Grandma and the Sicilian are both rectangular shaped and deeper dish pizza than their other pies. (Note to self: go back to try the other pies!) The crust of the Grandma was crunchy all the way through including on the bottom in the middle - cooked perfectly. The sauce was so fresh, bright, and tomato-y - truly delightful with every bite. One thing I really enjoyed was the balance of sauce to crust to cheese to generous toppings. The cheese was there but it wasn't overwhelming just the perfect amount. The slices are giant. This is a fork and knife meal. One thing I'll mention - it's pricey if you're comparing it to other more fast-food style pizza. The Grandma pizza we ordered came with up to five toppings for $31, but here's the thing. I'll consider this place a restaurant where I'm getting a delicious and satisfying meal- not just "grabbing a pizza." It's like sure you can get a burger at McDonalds or Burger King for $5-$9 but it's not a Stock & Barrel quality restaurant burger that you'll pay $15-$20 for downtown Knoxville. It's the same idea here and if you think of it that way - we both had a fabulous entree for about $15 each, it just happened to be one we shared. And had leftovers, which is very unusual because my husband is a huge eater, so I also have lunch today too. They also have other pizzas - even another version of the Grandma without toppings for $21, making it absolutely worth the price for local, handmade, truly artisan style pizza. I can't wait to go back. I'll be dreaming of this pizza and craving that incredible sauce and crunchy crust. I'm so happy to have finally found crave-worthy pizza in East Tennessee!

The meals came out with a family style salad, which included neat toppings such as beets. The rolls doused in cooked garlic might be some of my favorite bread from any restaurant. Our server was prompt and did a great job anticipating our needs. I ordered the veal canzanese, which is breaded veal in a red wine sauce with mushrooms, ham, and cheese. My mom ordered the same dish but with chicken. Literally could not tell the difference between the chicken and veal. While the sauce tasted fine it's not a good idea to dowse a breaded meat in sauce because they were extremely soggy. I probably wouldn't order the veal again. I enjoyed how the meat sauce for the spaghetti had parsley in it - made it taste different from other bolognese. However, the meatballs, though large, were dry and bland as all get out. Some of the driest meatballs I've had in a while. Altruda my word, I'll give them 5 stars for the overall experience. Service 5, ambiance 5, and food 3.5.

The second you walk in, it feels like you've stepped into a little restaurant in Italy. It genuinely gave me Lady and the Tramp sharing spaghetti vibes. Cozy, romantic, intimate and completely my kind of atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting for us. We both had water, so I can't speak to the wine or cocktail selection. My fiancé ordered the lasagna, and I ordered the rigatoni with basil. I'll admit I didn't realize the rigatoni was literally pasta with oil and basil no marinara, no cheese, just a LOT of basil. And when I say a lot...I mean a lot. Neither of us really enjoyed our entrées, although we did eat them halfway. The salad was a disappointment. The lettuce seemed old and was extremely limp, and the chickpeas were soggy and tasted like they had been sitting in the dressing for quite a while. Nothing tasted particularly fresh. Overall, I'd give Altruda's 2.5 stars. The atmosphere alone makes me want to love this place because it is SO my vibe, but ultimately I'm going to a restaurant for the food, and ours just didn't hit. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but based on this visit, I loved where I was sitting a whole lot more than what I was eating.

Wrong!!! we waited about 5 minutes for our server to arrive and greet us. finally the hostess came to our table and said our server was working on a situation and said she would go ahead and get our drink order. Drinks arrived but after another 20 minutes still no server. I went up to the hostess and asked if we needed to be moved to another table. She said our server had just arrived at our table. We ordered our food and shortly afterwards our salad was delivered to the table. Mistakenly, we thought the lapse of service and attention had been correlated. Twenty minutes later, no food. No server. People seated long after us had received, siding and finishing their meals but not us. My husband went yo to the hostess desk and asked for the manager to come to our table. Another 5 minutes later, still no food, no server, no manager. So now, 45 minutes had been wasted waiting for our meal. We got up to leave stopping by the hostess desk where the hostess and manager now stood. We questioned what happened and the manager said our food was delivered to the wrong table - but they would be happy to prepare us another meal! Really??? To prepare ANOTHER meal, we would have to receive a first meal! There was/is NO excuse for the lack of service, sloppy attention to orders and delivery NOR did they offer any apologies for this inept delivery of care or attention to simple details and service.
