Have eaten several times at Bella Sera. The food is good; I recommend the Nick's salad & any of their pizzas - however, the service is absolutely horrible. On our last visit, there were 8 of us, we were there for over 3 hours. This wasn't some long drawn out European dining experience... It was because 2 in our party were not served their food for over 2.5 hours. The two who weren't served happened to be my 14 & 10 year old nephews. Unacceptable. While the food IS good, do yourself a favor & call in your order for pick up... Then call back 10 minutes later to be sure they got it & then go pick it up. read more

I go here when I'm in Marble Falls. For one thing, I can afford it. Heck, it may not be real veal, but 7 choices for $15 for delicious veal! And decent lunch specials but I usually come for dinner. Be warned, as they should do, the house dressing is tomato-based. The bread is to die for - try to take some home! My sister has had shrimp prepared 2 different ways, loved em both. The menu is huge - when my niece is with me and I'm not allowed to eat veal, I always find something tasty. No idea about dessert - tummy is always too full. Can I say amazing! This is the best Italian food I have tasted since we left Germany. The herbs and spices are freshly present in every bite. Hate to say it, but this place blows. My husband and I stayed a night in Marble Falls while doing the wine tour, and after a day of tastings, we were both famished and craving some pasta. We passed this place, saw they served Italian and liked the exterior, so we figured we'd stop in and give it a try. Big mistake. Here is what we gathered from our experience- Upon walking in, we were greeted by a rather hostile-sounding hostess, and the decor was very hit and miss. It was obvious they were trying to go for 'little Italy', but the vibe I got was cafeteria, complete with flourescent lighting and cheap econo mozzarella shakers on the tables. Utensils were flimsy and reminded me of childhood lunches at school. I half expected my food to be brought out on a metal tray. Our server was very friendly, the only saving grace to this substandard joint. I agree with another reviewer, almost everyone who worked there seemed to be of some Eastern European descent. Should've tipped us off that the food would not be authentic. But I at least expected it to be decent! On to the food. Bread was brought to the table, but it was hard and stale, barely passing for edible. Drinks were ordered, I opted for a glass of red while my husband had iced tea. The tea was bland and had a strange aftertaste to it. My wine was not poured in proper stemware, which I'd expect from a dive bar or even a place specializing in some other sort of cuisine, but not a so-called Italian restaurant. The glass was filled to the brim, so I couldn't aerate the wine until halfway through drinking. (While I appreciate the gesture of extra booze, I really just wanted a nice glass of wine to accompany my meal.) Salads were brought out, limp and terribly sad looking. Mine had one piece of tomato, my husband fared better and had three or four. The waiter brought out our mozzarella caprese, and once again, it looked as though it had seen better days. (Too many days, for that matter. Maybe they were holding out on the tomatoes in my house salad for this?) Our entrees arrived, and definitely did not look all too impressive. One bite confirmed my assumption, it was awful along with nearly everything else about this "restaurant". My veal was dry and tough, the noodles and sauce were flavorless and left much to he desired. My husband had another variation of their veal and noodle based entree, (I forget the names of both, as I'm writing this about a month after our visit) pretty much the same story there. We get our check, kicking ourselves over how much we spent on quite possibly one of the worst meals we've ever had. Do yourself a favor, if you're staying in Marble Falls and get a hankering for pasta, hit the grocery store and buy some Marie Callender's lasagna and enjoy a microwave dinner in your hotel room. It will taste way better and not cost you $60. read more

Have eaten almost everything on this menu (more than once) and recommend a variety of options. Firstly, the homemade rolls are excellent..and it's worth it to order a side of olive oil with spices for bread dipping. Yumm! Then order the Nick's salad a delicious crisp salad with homemade lemony, garlicky, vinegarette. Favorite entrees include chicken piccata, veal saltimbocca and the salmon with veggie substitute instead of pasta. BTW Had the opportunity to go into the kitchen one evening after dinner and was very pleasantly surprised to find it super clean and orderly...not like an kitchen I worked in during high school or college. Made me love the food even more. This place is a keeper and regular pitstop when at the lake. Spouse loves the Bella Sera Chicken with sun dried tomatoes, olives and great taste. And he raves about the best Philly Cheese steak sandwich on a light crusty roll in Marble Falls. The chicken soup will put your mom's to shame. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. To top it off, the prices are super reasonable! And the wine list is getting longer and better. read more

GARLIC KNOTS! They seriously are works of art. Next came the salad which was romain lettuce and a slice of tomato (in-impressive). Here's the good stuff: (garlic knots!) Chicken Florentine was excellent. The sauce was a lighter, simpler cream sauce. (Garlic knots) The Chicken Picatta was divine: light sauce with good lemon flavor. The worst service ever!!!! Reservations made. They had no idea. Ordered drinks never received. Asked for water- took an hour and a half. Ordered food. Didn't get 1/2 of the meal but was charged full price because "new waiter and 4 people called in sick". Seriously .... the worst EVER!!! My daughter and I ate here this past Wednesday evening. This was absolutely the worst Italian food experience I've had in my life. We didn't eat a tiny fraction of our food. The only reason for the 2 stars is that the staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. We ordered the fried ravioli for an appetizer and it had a decent flavor but was unnecessary chewy. My salad was grossly overloaded with Italian dressing, straight up inedible. Now comes the travesty of the evening. We ordered the Frutti De Mare to share on the recommendation of the server. My daughter mentioned that she thought he recommended the most expensive plate for obvious reasons...she was right. It was the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life. It tasted like they boiled the pasta with old aquarium water. It was disgusting and tasted like sick fish. It was freaking horrible! It's a little weird here, I'm fairly sure that my waitress didn't really speak English at all. Not a bad thing, but it's a little worrying when you're explaining that you're allergic to nuts and just getting a blank stare. Overall, the food is good here! Rolls are a little dry for me, but the taste is okay. The decore is very nice, I hadn't been in there since the new build. They're doing good things over here, I'm not the biggest fan of Italian/Italian Style food but you should definitely try them out. read more

We had food to go last night. Sky ordered the linguine with clam sauce, and I had the pasta sampler. The meals were so good! We had rolls with our dinner , they were great for dipping into the meal. For dessert I had the lemon cake the slice was so tiny for the price.The lemon cake was delicious all soft and moist it just melted in my mouth. read more

we found Bella Sera open for takeout and wanted a special meal for our anniversary. reviews were good and menu looked very appealing so we went for it. ordered Fried Calamri.. a favorite. then Nicks Salad, a specialty, and two different veal dishes.. since we ordered a special salad we chose chicken soup with our entrees. then a lemon cake and a Tiramisu for dessert. everything was outstanding. Calamari crunchy with great batter and a delightful red sauce. Nicks salad was as advertised and good. Veal dishes were really special.. subtle but serious flavors, the thin veal done just right, and a nice plate if thin spaghetti, perfect for this dish. the chicken soup was similar to a very good minestrone but with small chunks of chicken. really a good choice with dinner. everything was very authentic. we have traveled in italy numerous times for several weeks at a time. This tasted like a good Italian meal at a local restaurant . both deserts were good, the lemon cake having been mentioned in earlier reviews. we could not recommend this restaurant more highly. we live in Austin butvwere at a place on the lake for our annivrsary. even traveling 30 minutes to our home from the restaurant the meal held up very well. it was that good. i forgot the homemade garlic rolls.. oh man, how could i? It's rare that i'm OBSESSED with a place but I seriously am with this place. They have the best food! My boyfriend and I have made a tradition of coming here every Sunday and we don't plan to stop! The service is great and the food is to die for! I always get the tortellini alla panna and it's great. The bread is always warm and fresh and definitely is a nice touch. Such a nice surprise. We were looking for italian and there were only two choices in town. When we first walked in we thought "Damn we picked the wrong one". But we sat down anyway. The reason we thought this was because the atmosphere was borderline cafeteria/diner rather than Italian cafe. Like I said we sat down anyway, excepting our choice. A lot of the guys working in this place are actually from Italy and we look forward to seeing them each time we go in there. The food is excellent and super cheap, with great service. Get the ceasar salad (big enough to split), and the eggplant rollatini or Mannicotti are to die for (well worth my persistent heartburn afterwards). One of the best things though is the dessert. I am a Tiramisu girl, and this is one of my favorite places to get it (After Mike's Pastry in Boston) and my guy is a cheesecake man yet we both get what we want here...just make sure the pastry chef (we call her the candy lady) is working (or you know some people) or you wont get any...they have a weird habit of not having any or of it being locked away when she's not there. I knew we were in trouble when the waiter's response to "What's the best entree?" was "Everything, close your eyes and pick." You know what that means? He's never eaten here. We needed guidance, the menu was far too many pages long with far too many selections. I don't believe that every entree is made from scratch in that kitchen - too many choices. Here's what we had: Appetizer: Fried Calamari: the fry was light and tasty, the calamari was tender and forgettable, the sauce was very good. Entree: Lasagna - bland and tasteless, the best that could be said is that it was smothered with a good amount of mozzarella cheese. Pasta Sampler - similar to the Lasagna. Suggestions: Dramatically pare down the menu, focus on your great dishes and forget the rest. Also, make sure your waitstaff knows the menu. There are not many choices for dining in Marble Falls, we will return reluctantly. read more

Interesting evening at this establishment. Food: 5 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance : 3 stars A nice building and decor. Went on a Tuesday evening, place wasn't overly busy. We got seated right away. Waiter needed too much guidance. Took forever to get water, ordered bottle of wine, he brought out two glasses of wine, hubs and I split entree, had to ask for additional plate after having having to get additional plate for salad. I don't care to eat in the dark, but lights were super bright (no romance). And kids everywhere! I am a parent, so I sympathize, however on this night a little girl lost her mind to the point that thankfuly management did ask them them to go outside. Where the parents then let her run wild on the patio. Shame on the parents. Ordered shrimp & scallop fettuccine. Was pleased ay how delicious it was! Great sauce, not gummy or too cloying. Scallops were seared wonderfully and tender in the center. Shrimp were great and not overcooked, bravo to the chef. I suggest turning down the lights, get some led candles, advertise romantic evenings and play up to the grown up crowd! read more

Barring none this is the best food in Marble Falls! Where to begin.... Any of the piccatas are wonderful-chicken, veal or salmon you can't go wrong. Veal and chicken Parmesan are great too (the chicken is a huge portion.) If you want something creamy go with chicken damabianca (delicious but rich.) For a lighter choice I usually order with the Bella Sera Chicken. Their secret specialty is the Nick's salad dressing which seems to be olive oil, lemon juice, spices and a lot of fresh garlic.....SOOO GOOD if you're a lemon and garlic lover like me. The homemade rolls are delicious with or without a pat of butter but I can't resist buttering them up. Hot subs are good too on their fresh rolls and the pizza is decent (but don't think NY which in Texas it isn't.) Stick to any pasta with sauce instead. The cannelloni stuffed with cheese and ground veal is superb too! Making myself salivate just thinking about this menu... so dang tasty!!! read more

I was thrown for a flavor sensation when we ordered 3 apps, 3 salads, and 6 entrees. all of these were a hard choice because the menu was extensive... we figured it would have different pastas with the same ol' pasta sauce on each. boy were we wrong!!! each dish was fresh and distinct from the other. the price was better than any chain and the food blew my mind. one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. what a star in this lil sleepy town. I had dinner here on 05/16/15 and I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside it appears to be an average restaurant, but I noticed that the parking lot was full. For good reason! We were seated quickly and courteously by the staff and we ordered one entree to be split between us. Good thing, it was huge! But more than that, it was very good. My boyfriend ordered basic chicken Alfredo and he said it was the best he has ever had (he is a very picky eater). The chicken was very fresh and well cooked. The place is easy to find and is well put together! Great place for a dinner date. The prices were also very affordable! All around one of the best Italian places I've been too. So, we got married in Horseshoe Bay 3 weeks ago and the night after the wedding, a bunch of us (13, to be exact) went out to eat. I'm originally from NY and I LOVE good Italian food, so when someone suggested Bella Sera, I was in. I read a couple of the reviews here on Yelp and saw some good, some not so good, some completely irrelevant. I called ahead to make sure they could seat us and the guy said "yes, no problem". I figured it was a Sunday night so they probably weren't that busy - and I was completely correct. There were just a few tables seated when we arrived, and they had set up some tables together in a second dining room for us. We all ordered drinks, which came out quickly, along with some delicious homemade bread. We had one waiter for our group, who took our food orders and came back with more bread because we had pretty much demolished the first baskets in record time. First, the salads - ok, so it's basically iceberg lettuce with some fresh tomatoes - not very fancy, but the homemade tomato vinegarette dressing was very good. I don't think anyone got any appetizers (but honestly I don't remember) but our food order was pretty diverse - from chicken parm (HUGE portions), to pizza (looked very good, NY style) to different pastas. What was really good was that they had several waitstaff help to bring food to the tables, so everything came out together and was hot and looking good. One of our guests had ordered spaghetti with sausage and peppers. The sausage was a little pink inside and she was a little dubious about eating it, especially because she's pregnant. I told our waiter about it and he came right over and replaced her meal with a spaghetti with meat sauce, which was good. Overall, the food was good. I'm not going to say it was the BEST Italian food I've ever had, but it was definitely good. Here's the thing I liked best about this place - the waiter, who I had a chance to talk to while paying our check, told me he had come from Italy and the restaurant belonged to his uncle. He had been working there for 10 years and sending money home to bring his family, including his wife (who I met while we talked) and his mother. As corny as it sounds, he made me proud to be an American! He came here looking for a better life for himself and his family and he was working hard and doing things the right way. Every time I'm in Marble Falls I can't leave without eating here. Their homemade bread and fresh salads are so good you might not have room for any of their delicious entrees! I would wish to say I had a great experience here but that would be a lie. After going camping for a few days me and my friends packed up and decided to head into marble Falls to get some lunch. When we found out about this place we were excited to get some decent food considering we had just been eating chips for about 2 days and we're excited to see that there was a Italian food place in town. When we got there we were seated quickly and our drinks were brought to us fast and after processing the menu for quite a bit we decided to order a few items. The one in particular that I had troubles with was the fettuccine Alfredo. I love myself a good bowl of Alfredo yet this bowl when it was brought to me was extremely bland and tasteless. When me and my friends had ordered, all of the dishes came with a side salad that was free of charge so when I had asked for a Caesar salad I wasn't expecting our waiter to charge me for a separate bowl of Caesar salad. After observing my friends order the tossed salad with different dressings I tried to correct my order and he just told me that the Caesar salad was good so I should keep it. I didn't feel like arguing so I complied and waited for our food to be brought out. The salad was decent all of us enjoyed it but one of my friends decided to get the house salad and basically was a few pieces of Romain lettuce topped with watered down tomato sauce. When she asked for a Caesar salad in replacement, he continue to charge her for both an eaten cesar and un eaten tomato salad. My one friend was extremely disappointed to find that her Ziti pomodore was basically water down spaghetti with penne noodles. She didn't want to eat the rest considering it was $15 for a disappointing bowl of pasta. My other friend ordered the pasta sampler That was supposed to come with three different types of pastas. When it was given it was given in a small bowl and we thought that it was just one of the three. It was not, and in fact all three pastas combined in one bowl. My last friend ordered another type of Alfredo And wasn't too disappointed with his meal but was still dissatisfied with the lack of taste and the overwhelming mushroom to pasta ratio. When our waiter came back we decided to let him know about our food wasn't too great and explain to him a few issues that we had. He proceeded to tell us that "Sometimes the food is good and sometimes the food is bad." And considering we were America's he told us that we should go to some form of fast food restaurant that serves burgers and fries. He also told us "With age comes better taste in food." implying that the food was good and that we were just overreacting. We well then told to go up to the lady at the desk to pay and to tell her about our experience. My friend basically told her everything we told our waiter and she looked at us and told us that because we ordered Alfredo by itself it was going to not be good and that it's just pasta and sauce and that "no one else that day had complained about it." She eventually comped the Alfredo from my meal but I still ended up paying around nine dollars for a four dollar salad not including tips. Why the jump in price beats me but we all ended up paying a good $10 over the initial price of everything on the menu. If you were looking for some mediocre food I suggest going to other places or going to H-E-B and cooking pasta yourself with some canned sauce and boxed pasta. read more
