Mikes Beach Resort is a quaint place to stay on hood canal. Its rustic charm gives you that "back in the day" feel. The view from my room was amazing! Waking up every morning to a beautiful beach and waterfront. There was a private picnic table right outside our door. They also offer rooms without a view for a more economical stay or glamping in yurt like accommodations. There's a bbq area and fire pit where we enjoyed live music on Saturday night. Our days were filled with hiking and kayak adventures! The resort offers clamming and crabbing (permits might apply). They even had a soda machine! There are several restaurants to choose from within 5 miles. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the area and gave recommendations on places to see. There was a bit of noise from traffic as we were close to the main road. But it always died down around 10 pm and didn't start up till late morning. The room we had was small but there were end tables with sufficient outlets, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a few cups and dishes along with everything needed for a cup of coffee in the morning. I had forgotten to bring my tea and was a bit disappointed that there were no tea bags in the room. But there was a grocery store not far down the road.. I could have used a few more hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels or clothes. But other than that, it was an awesome stay! read more

Gorgeous views of the water, lovely fire pit. We visited on the full moon and got to watch it rise over the canal and sparkle on the water all night. Beach access with oysters you can harvest. Bed was comfy. We stayed in the "Honeymoon Cabin" with jacuzzi, patio, and fire pit. It was perfect. The honeymoon cabin has a dedicated staircase for beach access. The patio is fenced off with nice wood and keeps other folks socially distanced from you/your group. Patio has 2 Adirondack chairs and four patio chairs and table with umbrella. These cabins are not wheelchair accessible. There is one step into the cabin and not a ton of space to maneuver a chair. But the cabin is small and you can sit on the bed, the two chairs by the window, or the toilet. The road info the resort is a steep switchback and it's easy to miss the entrance turn in the dark. Water stayed hot with the tankless water heater and the kitchen had a good mini fridge with a dedicated second door freezer that actually gets cold. Toaster, water kettle, coffee maker, microwave, and a hot plate. Dishes, pots and pans, knives, cleaning station. Everything AND the kitchen sink! We grilled steaks and ate them by the fire and then made kabobs to roast in the flames. The shellfish make soft little sounds by the water at night. You can hear then road noise from the highway while outside but the cabin itself is pretty quiet. It was incredible to wake up to the sun sparkling on the canal. read more

Hands down, probably some of the tastiest oysters you can catch when you're staying at this resort. It doesn't even look like you need any sort of license since its private property. The rooms are very old fashioned and they had cabin style beds so we needed sleeping bags to sleep but both nights I did sleep comfortably. The oysters were unreal. Salty, large, and very easy to cook. My only complaint is how we paid. I saw that they had a very disorganized office staff and I had a ton of issues as to how we were charged. We had the option of paying in cash which we did and we had a receipt for. But after our trip to the resort, we got charged again through my card. I had to spend probably the whole day trying to get everything sorted out to which they gave me a refund on that extra charge. But the next day they had charged me again accidentally and I had to repeat that same process over. Not a great experience but the oysters were unreal. I would absolutely go back next time but I probably wouldn't pay cash ever again. read more

This was my vacation place to go to a yearly basis. I live in California and adore this place for many years. After this go around, I will never return again. The level of rudeness I encountered felt like I am an unwanted roommate that is crashing the home. I am paying customer. I didn't argue with her but I kept notes on every encounter. She is not accommodating. She has the attitude of " it is what is what it is, deal with it." But the bigger point is we were not asking for much. It was super turn off from the beginning. I usually stay in the waterfront cabin each year. However, we brought our kids so we stayed upstairs from the fire pit area. The rooms had an uninviting odor. The table wobbled so much we did not used it. The TV did not work as our kids would have loved it to put them to sleep. But overall the view is beautiful. When I was staying here years back, the cabins were about $100 bucks. The prices have gone up. But that's understandable. But each year, she gets worse and worse. Another point is I said "she." Mike has always been so nice and accommodating. I see her daughter with her 2 kids playing. They eventually played with my children. It's a great site to watch kids happy! read more

We stayed in The Franklin Trailer ... it's definitely a rustic funky fun time! We had a private hot tub that we barely got out of ... the owner, was really friendly and nice and loaned us salt and pepper- she gave us a tour of one of the unoccupied cabins- number one, it looks like that would be a great one to stay in especially it was storming outside. It was really cute.- great use of space and it inside Jacuzzi right at the front window that you could just watch the storm roll in from. The glampimg Village across the street, looks like a really fun place to get a bunch of friends and stay in ! If we are out this way, we will definitely stay there again !! This is our second time coming here. We stay in the "Franklin" RV at the end of the resort past the cabins. It is huge - 40 feet long with living room couch pull out bed, full kitchen and fridge, big bathroom with shower, and separate master bedroom with queen, could probably sleep 6 if you needed to. They even updated the camper since we came in 2020- new floors and fridge so that was a pleasant surprise. It's a quaint little resort and the staff is really friendly. Only issue this time is the hot tub broke but they gave us access to one of the cabin jacuzzis which was nice of them! We've come during off-season both times so it's really quiet but I can imagine it gets really busy in the summer read more

Due to having a family emergency ( a funeral ) and they said I was not in the grace period for cancellation. How can I be when it was the same day? So they pretty said I'm out $502.77 and there was nothing they can do. So much for a family ran establishment. Cabins were great even though The door fell off twice to the bathroom it just runs on rails and a plank of wood basically covers it. But you should totally go there because the view. there is a great dock and you can rent kayaks and yard games wonderful deck with fire pit. I really don't understand the bad reviews because it's great and the service is great too. DO NOT STAY HERE. By far the WORST hotel experience I've ever had. My reservations/check in time was messed up. I got there at the time I was told to check in and then was told my check in wasn't for hours later in the day. Aside from that there was blood stains and black hair on the pillows, more hair and dirt on the sheets when I pulled back the covers. If the sheets and pillows were washed and changed then there's no reason they should have dirt or hair on them period! The front office was closed so I couldn't tell anyone until the morning and when I was able to tell the front office lady in the morning she came in the room and looked at the pillows and sheets even said her self that "I trust my house keepers change the sheets and I will talk to them" Keep in mind this is during a time where we have a virus pandemic going around and clearly there's minimal effort in cleaning their hotel rooms. I asked if there was any way I could speak to a manager, the answer was no, then I asked if I could have a refund and the lady said she could only give me a discount if I came to stay again she's goes "I'll remember you, you're pretty" (what person in their right mind would want to stay there again) Oh and not to mention they have a rusty hose faucet sticking out of the ground that's not easy to see and not covered and I tripped over it and cut my foot pretty bad. read more

We decided to give this place a try since they had a private oyster and clam beach. However when we booked the place they told us about a cabin that sleeps 9 with water view. A CABIN ??? Hell NOooo , kid you not it was smaller than my one bedroom apartment back then. No water view and I have people above me which I can hear EVERYTHING. They literally crammed 4 bunked beds and a kitchenette in this tiny ass room with wires hanging everywhere which is a fire hazaand spider webbed all over the place. Dirty dishes and smelly old sponge. I mean for $900 I might as well booked an Air BNB to be honest. Worsted place I have ever stayed at. Will definitely not be back ever or recommend to anyone unless you just want to waste money. read more

We stayed at Mikes Beach Resort this weekend, and if I could give it 6 stars I would! If you think you're coming here to be at a bougie resort, go elsewhere. If you want a super cabin-y, rustic, fun, canal experience? This is your place! We rented one of the glamping tents on the water. It was stocked which what we needed, and even when we were missing a wine opener, one of the owners let us borrow her personal one to use! We had a private bathroom - the water pressure was a little lack luster, butttt we can look past that haha Speaking of the customer service, we had nothing but great run ins with everyone working. They also had live music on Saturday, and the performer- Chris Eakes- was AMAZING!!!! Played so many amazing 90s alternative covers and his voice was unreal. There was also a seafood pop up, where you could order fresh (caught that day) clams and oysters, along with crab, salmon, and rock fish ceviche. Everything we had was so fresh and was amazing! And this is coming from and ex chef, and someone who has worked in the service industry for 15 years! All in all, our experience was amazing. We have even talked about making this our yearly anniversary trip! We will for sure be back! read more

The actual resort is much much different than the website. Not much relation between the two. Well the cabin was cute-ish but the environment... Not so much Plus, the charges are outrageous and opaque. I was charged $430.95 for two nights. There was a $50 deposit and a $20 cleaning charge neither of which showed up on my receipt. I had to question both of those.The service was terrible with the hostess actually yelling at me because I couldn't see my way down to the cabins. There was an offer of 10% off for veterans and when I got there was told, only 10% one night 5% the next. I did get the damage deposit back as well as the 10% for both nights. But you can tell from the picture there is no reason to charge anywhere near this price nor charge a damage deposit. read more

This was our first time at Mike's Beach Resort but it will not be our last. Our family rented two cabins my wife and I in one and her four cousins in another. Two in a cabin is the perfect number four is a bit cozy. The cabins are rustic but very nice. Laying in bed listening to the waves lap against the bulkhead 15' from your head is very relaxing to someone used to hearing dogs bark and cars driving by. The only issues that I have is the 10:00 AM check out but I knew what I was getting into before hand and we were supposed to have a hot plate in the room and had a electric skillet instead (we brought food and pots based on the hotplate). There is plenty of silverware, dishes, cups, wine glasses, etc for each room. The sinks are a little small to wash dishes in so I used the pot we brought instead. The reason to come hear is for the views and the shellfish. We got our fill of oysters in 30 mins and had plenty to take home and enjoyed the views as the spring Washington weather permitted. Each cabin has a grass area with a table, 4 chairs, and small charcoal grill but there is a great communal area with two fire pits, plenty if seating, and a children's play area. If you are looking for a nice weekend getaway on the canal give Mike's a try you won't be disappointed (unless you are expecting a spa and resort then you are on your own). read more

The prices are too high for rusty outdoor furniture, junky yards, peeling surfaces. They say fully furnished but we had no stove top just an icky BBQ. Even details like coffee maker filters--too large for the appliance--really?! Fridge had no door on the freezer and the fridge barely kept our white wine drinkable. I went on AirBNB to book a romantic birthday weekend for my partner and I. Their cabins were listed as available and accepting booking requests and payment info...placing a hold on my funds. Next day rolls around and still no communication from the place. My reservation is still pending and my funds are still on hold. I call the resort to simply inquire what is going on. I'm told by a woman with a Hispanic accent that there are absolutely no vacancy and that they had been booked for a while. That the person that handles the Airbnb isn't even at the resort. I point out that this is poor customer service and deceiving to guests to have listings up that aren't even available. I also asked what was to be done about my funds. The woman became very flustered and defensive and didn't seem to know how to respond to me. I've been in customer service and sales for 10 years and expect simple professionalism and courtesy. Especially in the hospitality industry. What I got was the woman going off on unrelated topics and raising her voice. When I again demanded to speak to a manager or the person who handles Airbnb, she said have a nice day and hung up on me. Not 5 minutes later, I FINALLY get a reply on Airbnb and this is what they sent: "Please do not call and harrass our employees. The person who takes reservations over the phone is not the same person who manages Airbnb. We apologize for not getting to your inquiry soon enough but that does in no way merrit unorderly conduct on your part. Your requested cabin and dates are unavailable. Good day." Horrendous customer service! I of course emailed back pointing out how inappropriate it was to email back and chastise guests and potential guests. Considering that she wasn't even there and made no effort to even ask what happened. In customer service it's important to go above and beyond to create an exceptional experience, regardless of if you agree or not with the customer. I would never dare contact one of my customers and shame or chastise them. What a horrible and uncomfortable experience. read more

This little quaint getaway, is just that...a getaway. My hubby bubby and I think that a part of the name (Resort) should be replaced with "getaway" instead. If you're looking to get pampered, it's not gonna be found in this resort. The cabin has a rustic feel to it. It does include basic cooking utensils, microwave, coffee maker, TV, set of dishes, etc. The location is great. Make sure to bring water socks or Crocs, for the beach. The beach is pretty sharp due to the oyster shells, no slippers!!! Hubby and I didn't use their bedding, but that's just me, instead we brought our own blanket, sleeping bag, and pillows to throw on top of the bed. We also brought our own food and snacks, they don't have any food service on site. Also, the check in is definitely a little bit after 4 pm and not a minute earlier. We checked out an hour or 2 earlier. Overall, it was a nice stay for 2 nights (that's the minimum). Oh, btw there's live music on some scheduled Saturday nights . We rent 4 camping spots with the costs over $700 for 3 nights (required). There is only 1 honey bucket for the site of over 100 people. We have to walk cross the the highway to use other restrooms. It's very dangerous and definitely not a children friendly camping site. Other groups at the camp site are playing super loud music all night long. We called the office, they didn't do anything. After the 1st night, almost everyone left the site even though they paid for 3 nights. read more

I love the community fire pit area and also love that you can rent a paddle boat or kayak. Each cabin has its own little outdoor eating space too and it's right on the water - how can you beat that?! Look guys... if you are familiar with Hood Canal, you know that "Resort" doesn't mean fancy spas and 5 Star dining. Mike's is rustic but serviceable for scuba divers, shellfishers, kayakers, fishermen, etc. If you require a "white-glove" clean place, know that Mike's is older and like many places in a saltwater climate, it shows its age. But who spends all their time inside anyway? We did not encounter any mice or rude people. The dock and beach are great, and we will return to scuba dive here again. They do scuba tank air fills on site, which is very convenient for multi-day diving. read more

1st time visitor! A nice little spot that has THE BEST scenery of Hood Canal! Not to mention they also have oyster picking for an hour a day at low tide! Yes the reviews previously have some merit but we wanted to come to our own conclusion and try it out! We are happy we did. Yes, there are some improvements need to be made but what place doesn't? I did not authorize my card to be charged the full amount of the stay yet they charged it over $800 and when I cancelled 30 minutes after booking and 3 weeks before my stay they charged me $87, I called and was basically hung up on. Stay away from this place if you don't want to pay a high price and get extremely disappointed. The place is so dirty, run down and does not stand up to resort standard. The Hispanic owner was macho and rude. There was no service what so ever. I was charge $240/night for a unfinished glamping site, which was a highway away from the water, there was no restroom nor shower, aside from a rotten public honey bucket. There was not even a water station or sink to wash your food or dishes, only a faucet protrude from the ground. The bed linens was damp and smelled like mold. The workers there were unhygine and high as a kite. Most of my family got sick after our stay (throw up, diarrhea). I don't know if we caught bad bugs from this place. The only reason I can give this place 1star is because Mike helped us back our travel trailer up a steep driveway. We pulled in and down a steep driveway because it said office with an arrow pointing and there were two trailers on the driveway. When I walked down to the office there was no one there but a sign saying to call a number. I did. The woman that answered was so rude. She said I needed to look where I was going because you can't bring an Rv down the hill. No signage anywhere saying no rvs. Thanks Mike but your wife needs some manners. read more

My mother in law lived up the road from here in Brinnon.. so I've driven by this place hundreds of times while traveling to her house over the year. Never had the reason to think about staying here. Mom has moved away, got invited to go shrimping, my wife surprised me with a stay here. Wow! Was I surprised! We got one of the "glamming" spots. It was one of those garage-style tents pitched on a platform. It was sealed at all ends, so no bugs. Heater, nice bed and all the comforts of a hotel room. Had your own private bath, was a bit of a walk to that but we knew that going in. Best part was hearing the waves/tide of the hood canal on one side and soft bubbling creek on the other. Could sleep with the flaps open and see the canal through the screen door. Would highly recommend and do it again in a heartbeat!! Oh, the also had live music sat. This is a rustic beach resort but the waterfront cabins are clean and comfortable. Satellite TV, hot water, and electricity. My sprint cell phone gets decent internet access in the area most of the time. We use this resort for the scuba diving facilities. They have a high pressure compressor on site and the diving right at the beach is excellent. You can easily do 3 or 4 dives a day here and not get bored. Its great for new divers as the area is very calm and there is a lot to see in the shallow areas (40 feet) Its also very close to other popular sites on Hood Canal like --- Flag Pole, Sund Rock, Octopus Hole or you can go to Pleasant Harbor and get on a charter boat dive. A full service dive shop and small town is 15 miles south of Mikes Beach if you need it. I look forward to my next stay at Mikes its always a good time. read more

The RV "park"" is a vacant lot across the highway with a port a potty for your use. The woman in the office was as salty as you can be, and not in a charming way. Woah. Great beach and views! Service not so great. We did not feel welcome here but we got over it and enjoyed the beach because it really was nice. My husband is a diver and liked the spot closer to the dock as there was more wildlife. There is no resturant on site so be sure to bring plenty of food. There are showers and restroom which were very clean. The RV park is located south of the actual resort. The lot is small and it was a tight squeeze for our 30' trailer. Luckily the site was Not full otherwise we would not have been able to back in. Full hookups and a nice walking trail nearby. read more

One star for ease of use location for diving. One star for the very nice people who run it. Minus one star for not having anyone at the office at check in time. Minus one star for the cabin oven not working, the fridge not being plugged in, the pilot light out on the heater with no one telling us this. Had to turn the oven burners on to keep the cabin warm. Minus another star for chincing me on the tank full up with 2500 psi on a high pressure tank... come on, I bought three fills and only used one because of this! Also, minus one star for the guy that cleaned out unit's bathroom. His BO lingered in there the entire stay even with cologne and the window open.... Oh wait and the two chairs I sat on in the unit that didn't have the seat pads screwed on?! Lastly bring your own clean towels. So actually no stars.
