We have stayed at this particular Fairfield many times when we travel to Rockford to see the Ice…read moreHogs. We live 45-60 minutes away, but the weather in Illinois in the winter is so unpredictable, I would rather book a night (or two) at a hotel than drive in the snow (I have been in Illinois for 53 of my 57 years... I hate snow/winter). This hotel is always clean and the breakfast is always very good. The staff is always polite and helpful. The rooms are a little run down but we are really only there to sleep, not hang out in our room. This review is about something that happened two weeks ago. We had tickets for a Hogs game for Saturday night. I booked two rooms at the Fairfield... on Friday morning, my doctor called me and told me I would be spending the weekend in the hospital. Ugh! I went to the hospital and after I was sure I was going to be admitted and was going to be stuck there for the entire weekend, I called the Fairfield to cancel our rooms knowing I was going to have to do it at a loss (I told my family they could go without me, but they wanted to be home just in case I needed them). The front desk was sooooo nice ... she canceled the reservation at no charge and was completely empathetic. I was so bummed and I am sure she could hear it in my voice. Thank you so much Fairfield for being so kind. We will be back next season!

This is a very old property that really should not be in the Marriott portfolio as it does not meet…read moretheir standards of service. We were placed on the first floor across from the fitness center and around the corner from the front desk. I am assuming this is because we used our Marriott points for our stay. We have redeemed points in the past and as a gold elite member, we have not experienced a penalty for redeeming our free night. Service was great but the room was dingy and lacked a blackout curtain. Fortunately. there was a tree and air conditioning unit that partially obscured the view into our room since anyone could see us that evening from the sidewalk and parking lot. We had to change and hide out in the darkened room to preserve our modesty. The television didn't give off much light as it was the size of a computer monitor. The bed was lumpy and the sheets smelled strongly of bleach. We could smell the complimentary breakfast the minute it was put out for guests as the walls were paper thin. Fortunately, our neighbors were considerate and observed curfew hours as we could actually hear the conversations of the group staying in the room next door. This room was offered on the Marriott site for $265 - definitely not worth it. While we are loyal Marriott members, if you need to stay in Rockford, the Hilton next door is much nicer and the rooms that our family reserved there were newer and much more comfortable. Again - service was good, no complaints there but this property did not meet Marriott standards.

We stayed at the Riverview from 12/29/25 to 1/1/26. We had a wonderful time in one of the…read moretwo-level suites. The night manager, Yvette, was beyond awesome! She was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond when we asked for a New Year's Eve party recommendation. She also gave us the printed Riverview Art Walk pamphlet (the outlined history of architectural pieces is not to be missed, although the Al Capone bar is not yet listed and no mention was made of the fabulous ships-in-bottles) and provided us with a tour of the Sultan room with it's magnificent antiques. Our suite was clean and well appointed. I did check the sheets and mattress and found none of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. Paint seemed fresh and Yvette mentioned that new carpets are to be installed in 2026. It seems that the current owners are attempting to revitalize the hotel and event center. We also enjoyed our river view room. Although we could see the train tracks, they did not appear to be in use and we were never bothered by noise. The view provided a good vantage for New Year's Eve fireworks - which may or may not have been publicly sanctioned. The adjacent mall is still under-occupied but we didn't sense any obvious criminal activity and our car was just fine in the parking lot. We had a good time here and would recommend.

I am going to write a positive* review for Riverview Inn & Suites…read more * No one got bedbugs *Our car was not broken into in the sketchy parking lot *There is ample over flow parking in the abandoned Walking Dead set of a strip mall next door. *No one got accosted or mugged by any of the derelicts that were being dumped off at the sketchy bus stop in the abandoned strip mall parking lot *The young lady manning the breakfast was very attentive and sweet natured . The breakfast was not her fault, I felt bad for her. *No was bitten or given rabies by the raccoon they are trying to catch *Im just glad there was a "No Firearms"sign on the front door. That and the armed security should keep out any evils doer's. Whats that ? There is no armed security ? Oh..... *The ancient poorly maintained elevator did not plummet into the basement *No one tripped or was cut by the broken and loose tile at the front door *Because we were on the sketchy-parking lot side, we never heard the trains that go by on the sad-riverview side LITERALLY 100 FEET AWAY *We never got Legionella from damp poorly maintained AC unit *The towels were clean even if the bathroom was not *Positively awful

All the photos you see on Yelp are from the hotel itself. I will post some photos of actual room…read moredecor which was pretty amusing. We stayed for one night after seeing a show and going to the casino. We checked in at about 6pm and got back around 1am and checked out at about 9am. Really not long in the hotel. What we noticed... The place is sort of run down, but we didn't expect much. Our room was clean, but dated. The decor was pretty funny. I would describe it as eclectic, post modern, senior living center. Orange lamp, yellow lamp, royal blue table, etc. There is no closet. Just an area next to the window with pegs on the wall and a curtain. There were drawers, but check out the photos. You could either store your underwear and socks or some apples and onions. There was a full college dorm fridge that froze my soda and a microwave on the counter. Can't comment on the free breakfast as we opted to get breakfast elsewhere. Did notice that the pool was closed, so check before you decide to stay if you want to use the pool. For just a place to stay for the night. Not for a special occasion. It was okay. Except for the scratchy towels. Unless you need to exfoliate. Then, you are all good.

I was checked in to possibly the smallest hotel room known to man. The heat was off, the room was freezing. The thermostat wasn't connected to the wall unit so I don't know what good that did. I was given the bare bones of towels, asked for more, never brought up. The characters were a bit seedy in my opinion. It's not like the online location has an avoid not so good locations option... I did feel safe but just uncomfortable, my level of comfort as a solo female traveler. One thing I will say is that this hotel has a nice pool area and from 10pm-midnight is adults only. Long pool hours, and quiet. Too bad no one manages the chemical level because I had a chemical burn from the hot tub. I did not try the breakfast. The night shift worker told me to "try the breakfast. The sausage is good today, it's cooked all the way through." Uh... Not great for what I am used to with Hamptons. Not terrible. Lots of food options around. Convenient to highway... which you heard all night.

My Birthday started here…read more I've never stayed here at this location, so this was a new experience for me. Pulling up, I was skeptical only because, although, it's in a good area, it didn't feel welcoming, however, rather than to judge a book by it's cover I decided to still go in and follow thru with my plans. Side not: They could use big plants/flowers out front.... which could give a welcoming feel!!! The staff were awesome!!! The only thing that I noticed was that, they couldn't use a different credit card for incidentals which was flabbergasting ! The entire stay along with the deposit for incidentals has to be on one card. If you travel alot. You would want to know this! Yes, it matters for those of us who need our perks and points lol Honestly, for this to be a Radisson I expected better quality and an updated, newer decorated facility. Don't get me wrong, it looks newer on the outside but the inside screamed need updates. I'm sure that if they had an interior decorator to come in and update all of the furniture that this could be a 5 star hotel easily. It's the furniture and accessories that gives it an old and outdated feel! Having a indoor pool is awesome, as were the bar and restaurant area. Very nice! The staff were nice enough to allow my local guest to come visit with me while I was in town. Great facility for events to be held because they have a connecting side of the building which caters to events. There's plenty of parking onsite. The hotel also has a shuttle bus which, I'm not sure if it's airport shuttle from Chicago or somewhere else! I'd definitely stay here again because the location is worth it! The beds are comfy and the showers were amazing which is huge for me! The water pressure and temperature was perfect! (Yes, it's a thing) The prices are a bit steep for it being Rockford but, I'm sure that it has alot to do with the casino, shopping and restaurants are all less than a 5 min drive. Thankfully, I had Birthday steals, perks and reimbursements coming. The 2 ladies at the front deserve a raise and 7 months off with pay ( One was a Manager) Thanks Ladies and see ya again someday!
