My grandson visiting from abroad needed a haircut today; I called a number of local shops and the prices ranged from [1] $27 for a franchise chain with 3.5 stars whose staff answering the phone could barely communicate in English; [2] a place with 3.5 stars and English-challenged staff with "appointment $30, walk-in $25, but long wait for walk-in"; [3] a bunch of places with 4 or more stars that charged $40-and-up; and [4] this marvelous gem with 5 [FIVE!] stars, a welcoming person answering who communicated cheerfully and efficiently in English, charged $30 with or without appointment and could get us in this morning. I came in for a first cut. I told the barber, I think her name was Stacey (niece of owner) that I was going for something new. I definitely gave her a hard time. I would give a lot of feedback on what I did or didn't want. Luckily, she did not lose her cool. And, this has to be one of the best haricuts I've ever gotten. Don't come. Very bad. See the text as a proof. We came around 4pm and they asked us to text to the number in in the door. We texted and they asked us to come back at 5:30pm with my son. We come back at 5:30pm with my son and guess what ... the barber said that he's triple booked. So, we went back home. After reaching home the lady called for us to come back for hair-cut. Great owner and location. While I waited outside for my appointment, there was a nice little shop next door I could get a snack at, and once it was my turn to get in the chair I looked like a whole new person. I just recently moved to the area and finding a good barber is generally difficult because I have trust issues with any person cutting my hair if I haven't been to them before... but in this case I was welcomed with open arms and comforted with fun stories while getting my hair cut and styled. Being such a reputable buisness did you think you can just show up and a red carpet will be rolled out? She asked you to come back. Then there may have been some misunderstanding. Does that justify the bad review? Next time call in advance and make an appointment so that there is minimal room for error on either party. Great place for a hair cut. I rarely can find a place that I can get my hair cut that will do a half decent job. This place goes above and beyond, I can safely say that this place is probably one of the best places in San Jose to get a haircut. They also do beard trimming/shaving. Price - Great prices. Atmosphere - homie, small two chair shop that makes you feel right at home. Staff/owner - this is probably one of the best things about this place, they are so nice every time I've been. Easy to book with and walk in friendly. They make a genuine effort to get to know you, the people that work there have worked there for years probably because of the very friendly owner! The last thing I'd like to add is that they prefer cash so remember to stop by the ATM or get some cash back at the store before your visit. P.S. If you're looking for a great price and good cut I highly recommend this shop. That said, when I walked in the door. the floors were covered in hair from several other clients. I've never seen a barber shop so unkept. The chair I sat in had an old ash tray built into the arm rest from days gone by and it was full of hair from previous clients, so disgusting. While the cut and price were great. If you're looking for a clean well kept shop, look elsewhere. read more

It's a small salon with about 4 chairs, good old fashion barber chair. I was behind 2 people. They had magazines, but I wanted to see how my stylist was cutting others hair. When it was my turn. Eric was my stylist. He was very friendly. I explained what I wanted and he knew what I was going for. His clipper skills were excellent. I wanted the tip of my hair to be messy so I wouldn't have to do too much on a morning basis. He did a great job layering it. He fast, detailed and professional. I was a walk-in on a holiday, and they initially didn't think they had room, but they were able to squeeze me in before the next appointment. David is very friendly and seems to be dedicated to giving you the cut and style you want. After a quick discussion and showing a picture, he got started, checking in with me from time to time to make sure we were on the same page.
