I wanted to update my review solely based on the outreach of the Owner (I believe). They reached out and sent a very nice message regarding my experience, which I appreciate. When an Owner takes the time to actually read the reviews and genuinely respond that tells me that I most likely came in on a bad day. - We went at around 11:30 AM on a Monday and it was mostly empty (which was great for us!). Plenty of seating inside and outside. - Smiling, upbeat workers who seemed to enjoy working and engaging with guests. - The food was all great! We got a scone, empanadas, and a breakfast sandwich. The hot food was the perfect temperature and appeared freshly prepared. The scone was loved by my girlfriend although I would have liked more berries in it, but it was huge! We had enough to take home and enjoy later too. - I loved the fact that the syrups are locally made. I believe the shop makes some themselves while others are locally-sourced. That really elevated the experience and was a welcome surprise. - Nice atmosphere that wasn't too loud when we went. I enjoyed the fun, indie music that was playing (which is usual in coffee shops I suppose). - When we went, street parking was available but, again, it was Monday around 11:30 so not really a peak-time. - Appeared to really support local businesses and events. Had a bulliten board in the back with posters from various concerts and events happening around town. Feedback: - I forgot to take pictures of it myself, but posting updated pictures/listing their menu online would be helpful. We picked the place based on it's online reviews but would have preferred to know more about the menu before arriving to ensure there were things we could both eat. (Diet-wise and taste-preference.) - It can be harder to find because it's tucked back from the street a little but once we rounded the corner it was easy to spot. read more

I'm familiar with Bend and its community, but I recently moved here fully about 3 months ago. I wasn't expecting much, after a few cafes fell short in my expectations. However, i was blown away by the creativity in drinks, decor, and environment! The drinks aren't ridiculously expensive, which residents know is pretty rare. I had one of their summer specials, which was the lavender lemonade. They make it themselves and when i had payment troubles, the baristas helped me the entire time. I will definitely be coming back, if not for the drinks then definitely for the built in foldout stools!! :) read more

A cute place for coffee, tea, and or a light snack. We stopped in here to grab a quick drink. He had a latte. I opted for Perrier and a chocolate chip cookie. They had a lot of tables outside and it was nice enough but they were pretty well filled up. We opted for an indoor table and noted that they had free wi-fi. We observed a couple of people using that. That's definitely a nice feature. Just a quick stop but I'm sure I'll stop by again. read more

I had great coffee here once. Every time since, it's just been ok. Today my husband ordered a 12oz French Press. The gal handed him the coffee and it was only 3/4 of the way full. She said, "It didn't fill up the (12oz) cup, so you want me to make more". I would have said sure, thank you, but he's nicer than me so he said "it's ok". ‍ My latte was luke warm at best, and since it was a chilly day, I was extra disappointed. I've been three times, and only the first time was worth it. To earn a five-star obviously the coffee must be good. Well-balanced (acidity, bitter and sweet). The coffee and the cappuccino were well-balanced to my taste. But it's not just about the taste. Where do the beans grow? How are the cherries picked and dried to prevent mold, a potential problem in the coffee industry? Are any pesticides used? Sustainable practices used? I got the answers from the Barista's. They deal direct with Guatemalan families (woman owned) of plantation farmers and it's all good by me. And they do their own roasting. I love it when the people behind the counter know about what they're serving. Bellatazza is on top of the process from farm to roast to cup. Better for me, the farmer and the land! read more

When in Bend, you go to the Breezeway and you stop at the friendliest and most scrumptious coffee joint in town. The owner is in delightfully hands on and kind, the staff is so knowledgeable and efficient, and you just can't beat the people-watching locale. This place has wonderful coffee and the service is very good. They make their own empeñadas which are phenomenal. I only wish they would add a traditional ground beef empeñada (with olives and/or raisins!) to their selection. Specialties

We're Bends original plantation direct coffee roaster. We roast on the lighter side of the middle, never flirting with under-roasted. Our French roast Colombian is that perfect balance of a warm, dark caramel, heavy and syrupy stout like a bear hug from your favorite man-friend. Of course, never debasing with carbon. Traditional 6-8 ounce sizes are the preferred option to let the coffee shine. No need to add syrups here, but if you choose, we offer only the best: Monin as well as locally produced, all natural syrups. Baked items are always from top notch, local bakers who are as impassioned as we.

Established in 2003.

Actually, the business started in 1991 as a coffee cart in Downtown PDX and grew up to be this Micro-Icon of Bend culture. 1991-1996, the cart years; 1996-2001, roasting exploration; 2001-2011, three locations and thankful for the ride!

Meet the Business Owner: Stewart F.

For over 20 years, I have been passionate about coffee, culture and community. Applying this to my coffee business, I travel to coffee regions to bring plantation-direct coffees to you. I welcome you to message me and I'll gladly connect with you, share a cup and discuss the origins of our coffees. What sets me apart from others? When I say plantation direct, I mean it.. When I say we use *almost* exclusively local vendors, it's true- Syrups, coco, baked goods, dairy and of course, we roast our own coffee. I am as authentic as the coffee is sweet. They baristas tell you it's so good. FALSE. It's water, it's not a latte, the "milk" doesn't froth at all, the coffee separates from it and it settles weird at the bottom of your cup. It's water that doesn't even taste right. I'd rather have an Americano. It's a waste of their employees time to make their alternative milk instead of purchasing a brand name soy/oat/almond milk. Thanks for the response Scott but I've given Lone Pine a chance 5 times with the same experience. There's plenty of alternative milk brands that offer clean options. :)

I went for the next best thing I could find which was called the banana boat, and came top with espresso whipped cream. This thing was friggin bomb, I walked 45 minutes across Bend to get here and then probably drink that thing in 10 minutes before I ever made it back to my room. You really can't beat the ambience in downtown Bend, very pretty in a very cool place to walk around in. The outside seating area at this coffee shop blew my mind.
