I had some shockingly great coffee this week while in Bend, but this one was by far my favorite. I came to get the lumberjack which was supposed to be salted maple, but sadly that appeared to be seasonal. I went for the next best thing I could find which was called the banana boat, and came top with espresso whipped cream. This thing was friggin bomb, I walked 45 minutes across Bend to get here and then probably drink that thing in 10 minutes before I ever made it back to my room. You really can't beat the ambience in downtown Bend, very pretty in a very cool place to walk around in. The outside seating area at this coffee shop blew my mind. You're on a grassy hill overlooking the river and on the other side of the river there's deer walking by.... Gonna say I might need to move here. read more

Watershed is my go to, close to home, love it, cozy place. I feel warmed and welcomed here. I'm excited to be here, every time I come. They pump out drinks like it's easy and second nature, but I know it's a skilled craft. No matter how busy they are, it's always speedy. The indoor seating looks like you would never get an open seat, but the little inside tables up close to the pickup window are never occupied long, and there always seems to be a bigger table of 4 open. The backyard is where it's at! Although don't get me wrong on the inside too, it'll grab you with old cozy mill house adhock, general craftsman vibes and leave you wanting to stay awhile, sit a spell and come again and again just to enjoy the vibe. It's super cramped inside at the order line, but people are courteous and make a way for you to get through. The center post kinda makes a dividing line that causes there to be an in, and an out line. So it's like it's much bigger really, and much more organized than it may at first seem. The bathroom can be a bit of a wait, in the mix of things, but the drinks and ambiance by the river are well worth it. The bathroom is clean, well maintained and cozy as well. It's well decorated. With curtains on the inner window, and bathroom spray. And multiple mirrors to chose from. I mention the bathroom because this is often a very neglected place in both cleanliness and decorum by many businesses, but not here. Step outside with your drink, or while you wait. And you'll be greeted with the best ambiance and river views you can find. Views of mirror pond, the old historic white steeple in the distance, the pretty houses and the calm of the pond. A view you probably noticed through the old pained windows when you came in, and moved through the light crowd to get to your seat, or the order window to the left. Plenty of room to find a seat at one of the many tables and chairs, and just generally have your own space. There are some picnic tables to choose from too. The drinks are superb, I always hear rave reviews from those I bring, or go with, as to their smoothies. Their coffee was always a fine escape of flavors and aromas in years past when I still drank coffee. Daily rotating roasts and globally sourced beans to choose from. I personally get the matcha here, and it just satisfies beyond measure. Filling the palate with a rich, creamy foam of the milk, without the "foam" present when you get down into the drink. It's like the top foam just never goes away. It's a palate pleaser, for sure!! I am amazed that they do an iced or hot oat milk matcha just as well as one, or the other. Each satisfies with that sweet oaty richness to soothe and fill the palate and the senses. In my book of matchas, this is the best matcha in Central Oregon!! Ps. it comes pre-sweetened, I used to get it as a shy scoop with cinnamon powder so it wasn't as sweet. But I grew into the sweetness and just get it standard now with cinnamon. I love that it's rich and not overpowering. It doesn't leave your mouth dry from the sweetness. The drinks aren't too hot when they come out of the window, so they won't burn you. They're baby bear just right. Come to this little haunt, and enjoy a stay and a drink. You won't regret it. read more

Not artificial at all. Its what you wish Dutch bros tasted like but never does. 10/10. *$24 for 4 items. Great value and way better than all the coffee chains. Looney Bean Bend is an absolute find. We loved the riverside vibes and a laid-back atmosphere that screams 'chill.' Who is out here giving this place less than 5 stars? Seriously this was one of my favorite places in all of Bend. Not only were the smoothies fantastic, and the sweets were good, but the backyard area with a direct line to the water makes you feel like you're in a private garden or at the back yard of your rich aunts. Seriously, I love bend and I love this coffee place. The service was quick and theres tons of places to sit. Even with how stunning the backyard space is we were able to find a table no problem. After living in Bend for a year and half I finally got to try Watershed Coffee Roasters (formerly Looney Bean), and I must say, I wish I would have tried them sooner! The ambiance is perfect, it is in what looks somewhat like a cabin so the feel inside during the Fall and Winter is absolutely amazing. Not only that, but they also have a great outdoor area right on the river for those good Fall days and Summers.. just a perfect ambiance for all the wonderful Bend seasons. Even better than the ambiance is the coffee though. Very quality coffee and the baristas all seem to know what they're doing (been there multiple times after trying it a few weeks back). Not only is it extremely good quality coffee, but prices are really reasonable for Bend.. especially downtown Bend. The only thing I dislike is I will say I liked the former name much better, but that's ok it won't keep me away ;) . I'll definitely be frequenting Watershed much more now that I've been able to discover it on my own. I suggest anyone around does as well! read more

Great space and outdoor area. It's a place that I would say we went to and would tell friends to check out. I got an iced vanilla latte and breakfast burrito. The latte used tiny little ice pellets (closer to slushy ice, not sonic) and it really watered it down. The breakfast burrito was a little bland and wasn't all that big. Probably good size for the price. Overall, it is a solid place all around and is worth going to and seeing if you like it. read more

This place has very good coffee. They make great coffee drinks, and the plan coffee is also nice. The syrups they use are mainly Torani brand and Guerredelli brand. The decaf coffee is also flavorful. We also enjoyed the COCC cookie. We've had it a couple times and it's quite addictive. It contains chocolate, oatmeal, cranberry, and coconut. The cookies are huge too! What's better than a cookie? MORE cookie! The cookie is large enough to share. As for service, they are very good. They did make one small mistake with one of our orders, however so did I when ordering (we're all human right)... well if you're like me with how much sugar you like in your cappuccino, you might be part hummingbird as well... Anyway, it's a lovely coffee shop with a beautiful view in the back and a nice relaxed atmosphere. I certainly recommend this place. read more

I LOVE the dirty hippy (dirty chai). I've had it hot and iced, and it's my favorite dirty chai that I've ever had. It sets the bar for all other dirty chais that I get. If you like whipped cream, try the espresso whipped cream. So good. They have a great outdoor area (dogs allowed) right on the river for you to enjoy your drink if the weather allows. They also have an indoor area. I loveeeee this cafe. read more

I stumbled on this coffee shop during a visit to Bend and had a great experience here! The staff were all so kind and friendly. I arrived near closing time and they let me know I could enjoy the backyard after they had closed, which was very sweet. I ordered a Huckleberry Italian Soda, which was $5.50 for a 20 ounce. I waited (what felt like) a very long time--probably around 12 minutes--for this drink, even though there were only 2 people in front of me. This is not a place I would choose if I were in a hurry! Luckily, the only thing pulling me was the Looney Bean's gorgeous back yard and the view of the river. The back yard is huge, with plenty of seating and river views. When I visited (a Sunday afternoon), the neighboring Pine Street Tavern had live music on their back patio, so I enjoyed mellow hits of the 70s and 80s while sipping my soda. If I lived in Bend, this coffee shop would be my go-to hang out/remote work spot. read more
