I'd pay a smidge more just to help support a worthwhile mission! There is an abundance of clothing, shoes, glassware and kitchenware. Then a smattering of all the other things to include records, cds, HS, books, decor etc. it's pretty big, but not overwhelming. It's always clean and pretty organized. The staff has always been kind, helpful and engaging on all my visits. Their pricing is extremely reasonable for so many of the items. I don't think I've thought twice about an item here due to their price. This is always a thrift location I like to visit.

You've heard the saying, "One person's trash is another person's treasure." After refreshing and restyling my living and dining rooms, I found some less-loved items that someone else might enjoy. Knowing I planned another visit to the King of Prussia area, I brought my no longer loved items to the Neighborhood League Shops, a nonprofit in Wayne since 1912. This is my first time consigning. I learned that each drop-off is limited to 15 items, and no books are accepted. The ladies in the shop were very friendly. They explained the consignment process and accepted my two boxes containing less than 15 items. When shopping for preloved items, the quality and value of these older, well-made products are second to none. The Neighborhood League Shops offers an excellent selection of reasonably priced cut glass, crystal, sterling silver, etc.

She especially wanted to check out the Alley Door, which she described as more "eclectic " than the furniture and clothing stores. We first went into the housewares and furniture store. The main floor has lots of cut glass and fine china pieces, jewelry and some art. A few lamps. Not a large space. Laid out well and clean. I headed to their basement, which had more everyday "home decor" items, some linens, small electrics, etc. I saw many lovely things, though nothing interesting enough to purchase. We then headed over to the Alley Door, which is around the corner. Despite it being almost noon in weekday, and a sign stating they open at 10, the store was dark and locked. Huh? We walk back to where we were and ask about this. They know nothing, they said, just that the cash box had not been collected. That's it. I imagine these stores are run by volunteers, and it's a good cause. I'm not sure I would make a special trip to shop there. When I'm in the area, I'd go again.

My friend Ivy stopped by and was so excited. "you MUST go", and so I did. This is a fun little corner store, with a well curated mix of art, small housewares, handbags and then the real star, costume jewelry. Their collection is very good, lots of variety, pins, rings, necklaces, bracelets, rhinestones, metal, stones, and so on. It's a vintage jewelry lover's paradise. I speak with some authority as a bona fide lifelong lover of vintage costume jewelry. The owners are super nice, friendly but not overbearingly so. Prices are fair, this is not a thrift shop, so don't expect to see a cool pin for 50 cents. I picked up a gorgeous pheasant rhinestone and colored stone pin for $15 for example, and a lovely art glass vase for $50. Parking is alongside the building off Landover Road, easy to get in and out of. I may go broke here, but I will be a happy broke person.

They have shoes, bags, accessories, anything a gal needs in a wide range of sizes. In other words, it's not 10 year old Missoni in size 4 masquerading as a consignment shop (and I WORSHIP Missoni). If you are larger than a 10, you will find plenty of options here. There is also a small selection of men's clothing. Juniors or women who like to think they are juniors, this store is not for you. This is a shop for women who don't mind admitting they are over the age of majority. Clothes are arranged by type and by size, so if you're looking for a jacket, there is a section for jackets, skirts, etc. I was tempted by the most buttery soft ultra suede skirt in a light purple. But then I remembered, I'm only buying black and white anymore. I didn't rate this store higher because the sales clerk (who I know is not the owner) did not greet me or make any effort to engage me when I came into the store. In fact, it felt like she was avoiding me. When customers walk into a store, it's customary to say "hello, are you looking for something special"? Don't walk behind the counter as though I'm not there. I wasn't even rockin' the nose ring; but I'm not inclined to return when there are so many other options. I just happened to see the big consignment sign near the street on Lancaster Ave as I was driving by and I made a "U" turn. I didn't know it was Charmingly Linda's, but I'm glad I found it again. This is a nice store. It is not glamorous (though I think they are trying). The clothes are down to earth clothing, not much stuff for the younger crowd. Mostly they stock women's clothing, shoes, bags, accessories. They have a very small men's department. When I was there they had a huge selection of Vera Bradley bags. It is hit or miss. One thing many may not know is that Linda's husband sells things on E-bay. With the population aging, there are more and more people who need this service. I will go back from time to time cause I like to see what's there. I've gotten slacks, tops and a raincoat in the past. Best of luck thrifting.

With their arms folded, they watched me like a hawk, as if I were going to steal a piece of some overpriced Juliska or Sferra right under their noses. There was one woman who used to work here who was friendly, helpful and funny. She is (understandably) gone now. These women are like trained hounds who can sniff out an adverse zip code in two seconds flat. Don't waste your time or money, or ruin an iota of self-esteem you may have had before you walked in.

This store is full of breathtakingly beautiful items, displayed to show their best attributes. Everything is top of the line. The staff are impeccable, genial and warm. While I was looking at sets of 4 coasters for $155 (not a typo- one hundred fifty five dollars), I thought - wow, I want to remember these when they get donated to Goodwill some day. Birthday Twin expressed her thoughts better than I. When they asked how they could help she said "Oh, it's a beautiful store and I am not your customer." Yep, me too.
