Been here twice now, once pre-COVID, and once recently. This is definitely the place to go in Falconer if you want good service, large portion sizes, and a good variety of menu items to choose from! They also offer several daily specials as well. This time I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo which has numerous big pieces of shrimp, scallops, and imitation crab meat on a huge bed of fettuccine with a generous portion of Alfredo sauce. When they brought out the plate, I thought it was a "Family Size"! Took half of it home though to enjoy the next day. My only criticism is that I would've said to skip the crab if I had known it would be imitation crab meat. Other than that, we were happy with our experience and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Stopped in to Belle - View East on a Friday and what do you order on a western New York Friday for lunch? I had the fish sandwich. A huge piece of fish placed on top of an open burger roll. Owner Gary claims without debate that his restaurant serves the biggest piece of fish in Chautauqua County. Perfectly prepared haddock, it was served hot from the fryer. Medium batter, the fish was tasty and served with chips. The restaurant is noted though for its spaghetti served with its two inch large meatball. (Ground steak, not hamburger owner Gary furthered shared with me). I sat at the bar and a friendly woman named Kathy served me shared she'd worked there 34 of the 33 years the restaurant had been open. HaHa. Not much seems to have changed for the ambiance of the more than three decade old village eatery. Dark paneling and decades old dining furniture, the restaurant is extremely clean. Bill was $20 with a bottomless diet Pepsi, tax and tip. I will return. read more

Belle-View East is a friendly local bar and restaurant that has a very old school vibe. I have been here a few times when I'm in the area in business and the food is always good. Portions are extremely generous. I always have to pack up the majority of my food to go. I really like the fried fish. It is crispy and golden batter surrounding a large, flaky white fish filet. The stuffed cabbage dinner is massive, filling and tastes homemade. Overall, this is a great local spot to grab a bite for a good value, filling portions and comfortable atmosphere. read more

In town to celebrate a birthday. Old school everyone is family atmosphere. Greeted quickly by the hostess and sat. Server was friendly and got our drinks quick. We ordered the fried liver and onions appetizer. The flavor was excellent and plenty for four people. Next I ordered the broiled seafood platter. The flavors were excellent and plenty of food. Food was slow coming out as there a couple large groups ahead of us. Each of us had a salad with our meal but these were the worst salads we ever had. Both were loaded with brown wilted iceberg lettuce. The two rolls brought to us tasted stale. My meal was a "special " meat and cheese ravioli which were only lukewarm at best. It looked like a can of tomato paste had been dumped in the center of the plate. Plus they did not seem to be cooked well enough. My husband had a Delmonico steak, full of gristle that he could not even eat it. His side was mashed potatoes with gravy, also lukewarm at best. Paid with a credit card and charged an administrative fee for using the card I believe. Will not return. Poor acoustics made it very noisy as it filled up. Went for my first time this past weekend. Food was delicious and very plentiful. Started with the broccoli cheese soup. I'm picky when it comes to broccoli cheese soup as there have been times at other places where it's more of a cream of broccoli than broccoli cheese, but decided to give it a shot. Very glad I did. It was a good consistancy and had a good amount of nively flavored cheese. Had chicken and biscuits for my entree, and that night's dinner, and today's small lunch. It came on a large plate that was full. Nice solid pieces of chicken breast, some mashed potatoes, and of course biscuits, all covered with a nice gravy. Finished with the pecan pie, and a bit of my wife's peanut butter pie. Both pies were also great. Everyone else's meal looked amazing too. I look forward to coming back, will likely get the prime rib as it was one of the better looking servings of prime rib that I've seen in a while. read more

My wife and I went and split an order of Chicken Cordon Blu (I also had some French Onion soup). The soup was almost the best version that I have ever had... tasty and warm, with the perfect amount of onions, cheese and croutons! The main dish was delicious! The gravy was extremely well prepared and portioned. The only reasons for the 4 stars is... 1) our waitress was about as friendly as a stone, with no personality, no smiles at all and talked in a monotone voice, and 2) they charged us an addition "service fee" AFTER we got the bill and I decided to pay with a credit card which is completely uncalled for. I must say... their rates are a tad steep, but the food is delicious and they always seem steadily busy every time we have eaten here in the past (which was 15+ years ago). I stop here every time I'm back from CA visiting my folks. I love, and crave, their beef-on-weck sandwich. They pile on the beef, it's lean and tender and they give you plenty of jus. The unique thing about the bun if you've never had a beef-on-weck (short for kimmelweck) is that there are caraway seeds and salt on the top. Perfect taste with the beef. read more

This place got 3 strikes in a row. It's had many strikes previously, at least they were spread out. It's dead to me now. Consistency: a lack thereof. You can order the same meal several times and it's like it's from a diff please each time because it's so diff. Portions, salt, seasoning, appearance, temp... diff each time. Quality: sometimes it's a nice big fresh salad other times its small and wilty. Sometimes it's thick creamy ranch other times its watery or has clumps of powder in it *gag *. They won't think twice about serving hard dark brown French fries or burnt fried mushrooms . Service: overtime waitresses are getting less and less personable and sloppy. I don't want to see unkempt dirty looking waitresses with pet hair on their shirt they wipe their hands on. They touch their faces, hair, dirty shirts... and then serve you with their thumb in your food on your plate . Playing favorites: if you aren't a blue hair long time regular that knows the owners you are treated differently. If you aren't a fall down drunk bar fly you are treated differently. If you aren't obviously wealthy like the Chautauqua institution crowd they don't try to be polite or impress. Over serving: It's not uncommon to see obvious over serving at this bar. You can witness blatantly drunk people that can't stand without a sway or talk without a drunken slurr ordering more drinks then getting in their car to drive. Interior: really run down especially for the dinner prices. Really cheap seating and silverware. Super cramped hard booths and seating. This place needs a remodel, new staff, and to adhere to health department standards and liquor license obligations. read more

Favorite restaurant! You always get more meal than expected. I've tried several menu items, all excellent and my family boasts about the food, as well. From the stuffed white fish to the ribs to the pasta dishes, they know how to cook and serve it up right! The meatball served atop spaghetti is the size of a meatloaf and fork-chopped, enough to have meat in every bite of the meal. And you'll end up taking a lot home with you, because the portions are huge! And this little place gets packed on holidays (turkey dinners, etc.). What does this tell you? He asked for another fish dinner and he was denied. He then tried to get a refund, and they told him "no your out of luck." I can see customer service is not a priory this restaurant. When you ask everyone in Jamestown where is a great place to get food they always suggest here. I have driven by it probably 5 thousand times in the last 7 years so I finally tried it out. The atmosphere was unimpressive and uninviting. The staff is very pleasant and nicely attentive. I had the chicken parm. lasagna which was just about the blandest meal I have ever had in my life. My guest had the chicken and dumplings which he said was pretty good so I'm hoping I just had a "bad" meal. I will go back again and hopefully will yelp about a better time than this one. read more

I have eaten here many times, but it has been a couple years, now in between. They are known for there extremely large portions, so much so, it's frankly a waste of food. Prices seem high, because of the amount of food. Could cut the portions in HALF and the prices by 25%. We ordered, fish fry (HUGE) Shepard pie, Odd, it was a tasteless(no seasoning, at all. Very bland) meatloaf, with a layer of green beans, topped with mashed potatoes (not real). It was huge, like 3# of food. Seafood Alfredo was ordered too. It was shrimp and artificial crab meat in a heavy thick canned Alfredo sauce. Again NO SEASONING. very bland. Chicken Stir-fry was ordered. This looked good, lots of mixed veggie, frozen of course. Just ate here last weekend and had a lovely time! The menu is pretty extensive and diverse, with some nice seafood, Italian and classic American selections. Specials like Beef Stroganoff and Chicken 'n Biscuits seemed very popular, and the portions were huge! I had salmon which was very tasty, and my date had a lovely prime rib that was delicious. I also recommend the French onion soup, and the house parmesan peppercorn dressing on the salad was superb! Desert was homemade peanut butter pie, very fluffy and yummy! The ambiance is perhaps a little outdated, but cozy and what you'd expect for the area. Our waitress was very friendly, fast and efficient - no complaints whatsoever! I think the price rating for this restaurant is inaccurate however - both of our dinners were closer to $20 a plate. So you might want to keep that in mind if you're thinking about stopping by. This is a nice lunch spot just outside Jamestown with good specials that aren't on the regular menu. I got the special blue(cheese)burger and fries, which was absolutely yummy despite not being anywhere near the medium rare I asked for. It also came with lots of hot fries that were perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Service was quick and friendly, and prices are not bad at all. There's also a full bar and free refills on at least iced tea. I'll definitely head back here and perhaps one of its other nearby locations next time I'm in town. read more

We stayed in Falconer on our way through western NY. This seemed to be one of the few restaurants in town. It was a Friday night and I was in the mood for a hamburger, but was disappointed to find that their lunch menu (that included safe and inexpensive items like hamburgers) was not available for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu was extremely large and varied, which has to make you wonder how fresh the ingredients can possibly be and how many of the items can possibly be made from scratch (vs. being pre-prepared and frozen by Cisco). The cheapest things on the menu were basic pasta dishes for $12, which is kind of an expensive pasta dish unless your getting freshly made pasta. There was a strip steak special for $20, which also seems overpriced for this cut unless your getting it "prime", aged, and/or grass fed. We ended up getting the fish fry, since it was one of the lower priced items ($13) and seemed like the safest bet. We definitely get our moneys worth in terms of the sheer volume of food. The fish came with three sides (cole slaw, fries, bread role) and easily could have served two hungry people. We essentially ended up paying for two dishes each. You can't help but wonder if this is a tricky way to squeeze more business out of their customers. The fish and fries were good, but not great. The cole slaw was bland. The service was sluggish and preoccupied (not sure why since less than half the tables were occupied). Overall, it was not horrible (and I'm sure is a fine place for lunch), but for fine-dining the basics (service, quality, appropriate portions, and fair prices) were not there. read more

My second visit to this restaurant and I have to say that the food portions are plentiful. My only complains that take this from a 5 star to a 3 star are that my beverage sat empty for about 15 minutes prior to it being refilled and that I was charged a 3.99% fee for using a card to pay the bill. Had I been notified of this prior to them taking my card, I wouldn't have a complaint... but they informed me there is a sign on the front window. Upon leaving, I saw the tiny sign from the credit card terminal company that says you will receive a 3.99% discount when paying cash. I don't think this was the case at all, you receive no discount for paying cash, or you pay 3.99% extra to use a card. Unfortunately for the restaurant, they probably had to pay double the fee when I requested that the transaction be reversed as I'm not going to pay a fee to use a card on a rather expensive bill, I paid cash instead. I think to better serve the customers, please advise them of an almost 4% fee when taking their bill if presented with a card, to ensure they are aware. I was told that the owner feels the customer should pay that fee and not him and that many other restaurants will be following this policy. read more

The food is good here, but I've never been impressed with the service. The waitresses are always rude. The tables are too close together and people have to squeeze between chairs to get through, causing them to bump into you while eating. The booths aren't real stable, and when you are sitting in them, the people on the other side of the booths push into you and move the booths. The bathrooms are so tiny that your knees hit the stall door while sitting down. It is not a place that I will return to. read more

I eat at the Belle-View East at least once a month and I've never had a bad meal there. I highly recommend their burgers and the chicken and biscuits. Many of the entrees come in such large portions that it's generally safe to split one between two people! Service is generally good. read more

You don't go to the Belle View for anything other than really good food, lots of it and great service. I have never had a bad meal there and I have frequented this restaurant many times since the year 2000. The waitresses are friendly, talkative and the service is fast and accurate. The prices are higher than most but the portions are large so you get an extra little meal at home if you box your leftovers. The last time I was there I brought home a huge stuffed cabbage roll and enjoyed it for lunch the next day. Great place for lunch or dinner. We always look forward to stopping in for a meal there whenever we are in Falconer. read more

i have been to the bellview east several times over the years, my son-in-laws mother worked there for many years. we used the upstairs banquet room for a rehearsal dinner and a baby shower. it was nice. over the years it has gone downhill and tonight was the straw that broke the camels back. after a valentine bunco game at a local place of business we had placed reservations at the bellview east for at least 12 people with the possibility of more. they were not happy that there ended up to be 16. one of our groups husband is disabled and his wife was saying that he should probably be on the end so he didnt get banged into alot. the waitress nastily told her not to put him at that end because she would be banging into him alot!!she was visibly upset that we were there and we ordered water with lemon and she forgot the lemon, so she came back with a wedge of lemon on a plate and made a snide remark saying i hope this is ok now... we were at the end of the table near the kitchen and heard her say to the other workers in the kitchen that she did not want to wait on any of us, that she was just waiting for certain people that she knew to come in and she wanted to wait on them. she told them that she was mad because the table was set up on her side instead of the other side. she then came out and asked if we were going to want one check or seperate. we all said seperate to which she rolled her eyes, and rubbed her hand across her face in total frustration. at that point my husband, myself , and the couple beside us and their daughter put our coats on and left. this waitress has worked there for a very long time also. there is no excuse. i was told that she came out , saw we had left and asked the others if they were leaving also. everyone else did stay. my husband and i personally will never step foot in there again. read more
