This place is a joke. I've never had problems with my shirts on a hanger but this place returned my white shirts dirtier than when I dropped them off. At $2.75/shirt they should get the white shirts right. Going to try Chi's which is one block away and see how it goes. I'm hoping dry cleaning will get the stains out of the shirts that this place basically baked into them. read more

New to neighborhood and needed to find a reliable drycleaner as well as a good tailor to hem and do final small tailoring for a bridesmaid's dress in my sister's upcoming wedding. Went to Belleclaire after family friend recommended it. They did an awesome job with the bridesmaid's dress, making small but still significant tailoring and were patient with me and my questions. It was a relief to feel like I was in good hands,especially since it was a very busy time for me. And they're drycleaning has been superb. Fantastic tailoring! I have had jeans hemmed and a dress taken in (darted) - both items came out perfectly and I couldn't be happier. I was nervous on the jeans because they were designer and I wanted the hem to look right. They do the work quickly and with excellent quality. They are also friendly and welcoming. I brought in a brand new shearling coat to have snaps sewed on. When I got the coat back a piece of the fur had been nicked off. Sue, the owner, told me I must have brought it in like this because her tailor would never do this. This is nonsense because Sue inspected the coat for 10 minutes while deciding where the snaps should go and would have pointed out fur missing and would have noted it on the receipt. I went back several times and Sue was never there. I sent her a Fedex letter and haven't gotten a response. After speaking to the National Cleaners Association, I'm probably going to have to sue them. I noticed that there are other complaints about their tailor ruining clothes. read more

Absolute disaster! Let me say this, do not EVER EVER use this dry cleaner, ever. 1) Their tailor ruined multiple very expensive suits and jackets of mine. Just did not follow instructions I gave them and just ruined my clothes. 2) The other post up here is correct, they do NOT actually clean anything. They simply steam stuff when you leave it for dry cleaning. TOTAL SCAM! 3) They will break at least one button on any shirt you drop off every time you bring it in, and then they charge you to have it fixed. 4) And this is the worst, the place is filthy--bags and stuff everywhere--I am an exterminator by trade and I noticed mouse droppings, roaches, and BED BUGS on at least one laundry bag left in the middle of the store. The woman who runs the store pretends to be friendly and care, but she doesn't. All she wants is your money and she will take it, for sure. Please, for your own good, stay away! read more

Belleclaire has the worst service of all time. I received a coupon in the mail that states first time customers receive 30% off dry cleaning. There are additional coupons for 15% off incoming dry cleaning (3 visits), 20% off incoming dry cleaning (3 visits) and 10% off alterations (3 visits). When I picked up my quilt and shams and presented the coupon, the lady told me it wasn't valid for bedding-- clothing and "normal" dry cleaning only. She wouldn't extend the 30%, 15% or 20% discounts, even though there is nothing on any of the coupons that says these are for clothing only. When I pointed this out, she yelled at me, saying she told me when I dropped off my quilt and shams (of course, this is not true). Terrible customer service, terrible management, terrible business practices. I will never got there again and hope they close! read more

Not sure how they have so many good reviews. If you have any special needs (use my detergent, don't dry this stuff) do NOT use them. I gave them a brand new bottle of expensive detergent to use on 3 loads and it can back with 10+ loads gone. And my clothes are so heavily saturated in scented detergent that they now need to be rewashed. Totally defeats the purpose of sending out your laundry. Oh - and last time they "forgot" to return my "do not dry" items and kept them in a tightly wrapped plastic bag overnight - causing them to get all musty which took like 5 washes to get out. With all the options on Broadway there is NO REASON to go to this place. I'm done. read more

I have been a loyal customer to Belleclaire over the years. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with them yesterday. I brought in a black velvet blazer, and asked if a snap or hook-in-eye would help the line of the jacket stay closed when I sit. I tried it on for the tailor (who didn't speak English), and the counter man said we could sew on a snap. The tailor marked the area. I came to pick it up, and tried it on to see how it looked. The snap was too heavy for the cloth, and showed, even though it was not tight. They had no other suggestions, so I asked that it be removed. The cashier removed it with a thread puller and thankfully, it was not damaged. However, the cashier insisted that I must pay for the work. I paid, but said they have lost a good neighborhood customer. They didn't seem to care. read more

Avoid this place. They ruined my pants with a huge slit down the leg, which I discovered immediately off the hanger. When I went in with the pants, they immediately said it was not their fault and argued their case about stitching and fabric. Pants went in perfectly, pants came out with a slit - but somehow he argued it wasn't them. Pretty unbelievable and I will take my hundreds of dollars in dry cleaning bills to one of the many other cleaners in the neighborhood. read more

This place has the absolute worst customer service as the people who work in this dry cleaners are obnoxious beyond words. Every time I've walked in, the woman behind the desk gives attitude. Maybe it would be justified if the prices were low or the service fantastic (just brought a coat in to get dry cleaned and it completely shrunk when I got it back and they wouldn't even admit that it shrunk, meanwhile it wont even close now) but neither is the case. I just stumbled on these reviews looking to see if they were open Sunday, and was so shocked at the bad words that I've decided to write my first Yelp review to help even the score. Belleclaire is great! I can only speak for my own experience, of course, but service here has been EXCEPTIONAL. Prompt (really prompt) delivery and yes, they really do clean the items you take for cleaning--they don't just "steam." The tailoring I've had done has been fairly simple (hems), but at one point they did a fairly elaborate alteration on my daughter's prom dress, which turned out fine. Prices aren't the lowest, but don't think they're any higher than any other Manhattan dry cleaner. Maybe I'm naive--maybe not after 30 years in NYC--but I don't think the woman who runs the store just pretends to be nice. I think she's nice! read more

I live near this place and have used it a few times. They seem pleasant enough, but I recently learned that it's just a facade of friendliness. After picking up a brooks bros suit I had dry cleaned here, I took it over to a Brooks Bros store to have it tailored. The tailor showed me evidence that, in fact, the suit hadn't been cleaned at all - just steamed. It's pretty unfortunate that they're scam artists, but it appears that that's the truth of the matter. read more
