Whatever you do, do NOT go to Little J's for alterations. They completely ruined my $250 Reformation dress, and the experience was awful from start to finish. I brought the dress in to have the top taken in because it was too long for my torso. Instead of adjusting it properly, they unevenly cut into the dress, leaving it totally unbalanced and disproportionate. One shoulder now has ruffles, the other doesn't. One side of the chest has a 2.5-inch seam, the other is barely 1 inch. It looks like two different dresses sewn together. And when I expressed how upset I was, with only three days before the wedding I needed it for, the seamstress actually yelled at me and blamed my body for her mistake. They charged me $100 for work that destroyed my dress. Save yourself the stress, money, and frustration. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I was very nervous about the alternations because so much work had to be done to the coat, but Kim did a wonderful job. Found this place on Yelp, brought my items in and was met with kind customer service. I can't remember who I worked with, but she was very nice and friendly--answered my questions regarding pricing without rushing me. Turnaround time was 4 days. The same nice woman rung me up--didn't even take long to search for my clothing. My dress is clean (they weren't sure if they could get out a pen mark on my dress, but they did!!) and strap is restitched nicely. I have been going to Little J for the past couple of years and I've always had a great experience. They never missed a delivery time for me and fixed up my clothes as needed. They have a minimum credit card ($15 I think?) so make sure you bring some cash if you are only dropping off one suit jacket. I couldn't recommend kim's alteration services enough! I brought in a lace and crepe gown that was several sizes too big, with a broken strap, that needed the entire train removed, and very well worn. She tailored it to perfection, found ways to improve it that I would never have thought, and was so sweet and thoughtful throughout. I adore Little J's! I found them on a Saturday morning when I was trying to find someone who could wash and fold my clothes and get them back to me the same day. They promised that as long as it was turned in by 10am it would be possible. I have been going to them ever since. The clothes always back back perfect, they have never lost or damaged anything and the staff is very friendly and remember you by name. Okay they get two stars just for being OPEN. After two previous stops (Victor's & Symphony) lugging two bags of dirty clothes, I was thrilled to find their doors open! I about fell over when I was told it would be nearly $33 for 21 lbs. of clothes. I'd read earlier reviews of other cleaners with prices of $1 or so per lb. so was not expecting it to be significantly more. Oh well, it was cheaper than 2 of us checking bags. BEWARE OF THEM LOSING YOUR GARMENTS!!! UNPROFESSIONAL OWNER. Dropped a bundle of clothes off on a Tuesday morning, and when I received them back, my $250 Hugo Boss skirt was missing. Upon closer look at the receipt, only my last name was listed, followed by a comma and then a first name listed as "Little" (my name is Jennifer). Further, my phone number was neither listed on the receipt, nor did they have it in the computer system! Even the smallest, yet most important details necessary to run any kind of business were not properly recorded, including any indication of my expensive garment. Upon request for them to simply look around to see if they could locate the skirt, I was confronted with an irrational Korean woman who could not even understand the spelling of my last name, and couldn't understand how my first name wasn't "Little." She refused to simply appease her customer by looking, frequently interrupted, and yelled back that she didn't have the garment (again, without simply running the conveyor or glancing in the back). Now I am out my skirt, and would strongly caution others who value their items to go somewhere trustworthy like Alpian's a few doors down. It's not worth the frustration and being out time, effort, a prized possession, as well as money to go to such a substandard facility for literally what amounts to just a few bucks less. The woman who owns this place is unhelpful, does not know how to functionally communicate and is completely irresponsible. I've learned my lesson to always read the receipt and confront any issues before the clothes go out. read more

Firstly, this place is overpriced! Secondly, I had left my two shirts there for a few weeks because I had been away. One day I was walking by the cleaners and the tailor harassed me. She started yelling at me saying that I have to pick up my 2 shirts and pay NOW! Don't go unless you want to be harassed and yelled at by the tailor and have it ruin your entire day! Have now taken two brand new items to be altered by Kim and she has done a PERFECT job both times. I asked her to open up sides of a jacket and add leather trim along edges (I'd brought the trim) and she even suggested an attractive way to join the sides where they meet at the top. The 2nd item was a linen tunic that had swooping ruffles that fell at my hips, not so attractive, so I asked Kim to cut off the ruffle and redraw the bottom hem to that it gently sloped down in the back. She's quite humble yet she's one of the best at alterations I ever used. A secret gem! And her prices are ¼ what others would charge. read more

Upon having the altered dress delivered, I tried it on a realized it was still a bit big. I went back the next day asking for her to hem it a bit more. The owner started screaming at me saying that she would not fix the dress unless I paid again because she did not want to do extra work! After a 15 minute argument with her screaming that I was a terrible person and that she would not help me, her husband walked in and told her to re-hem the dress. This experience was extremely upsetting. Please do not waste your time here. read more

I came across Little J's Cleaners after having an awful experience at Alpians (see my review), just a few blocks away. Alpians wanted to charge me $40 to clean one dress! And, the dress was nothing special; just a regular Ann Taylor business dress. So, as I was leaving Alpians very disgruntled, I came across Little J's Cleaners. I asked a lady who was leaving the store if she liked Little J's. She enthusiastically said yes, so I gave them a shot. I could not be happier! They charged me only $18 to dry clean my dress, and they did a fantastic job!! Plus, it only took them like 3 days to dry clean my dress; Alpians is full of it when they said it would take several weeks because the dress required "special" dry cleaning. And, even better, Little J's is organic! Dresses are normally $14 to dry clean (a little more than the $12 I pay at my neighborhood dry cleaners), but mine was a little more because the faux leather trimming takes a little extra care to clean. The little Asian lady at Little J's could not be sweeter! I could not recommend Little J's any higher. read more

This little Js on 48th/2nd is the best dry cleaners I've found in NYC. No matter what the situation they always seem to manage to fix it. They get out every stain whether I point it out or not. They fixed ripped clothing. They do an excellent job at everything. Additionally, Kim is an amazing tailor. She does a wonderful job in trimming suit pants or whatever else you need.
