I wanted to be festive over Thanksgiving, so while I was home, my sister in law and I got gel manicures. When mine started to chip, I read about how to remove the polish at home, and I tried (mail wraps that I bought). And tried (filing down the top coat with gritty nail files). And tried (pure acetone). After three strikes and grungy looking nails, I slapped some regular polish over to keep them acceptable, and vowed to find a salon to help. The first place that I went to did not take walk-ins, so I went to New York Nails, the next place that I passed. The employee there immediately welcomed me and got to work removing the stubborn polish. About 10 minutes later it was all removed, and my nails looked fantastic and bare. It was a reasonable $10, which was much less than I had spent on my DIY removal misadventure. My many thanks to this place for fitting me right in and helping me out!

I was greeted right away and the tech was available within a few minutes. The front was very clean and tidy. Things went downhill after that. The work station of the tech who did my nails was filthy - covered with dusty and crust. The longer I sat there, the more I saw and the more frustrated I felt. Tools like nippers for cuticles seemed to have been used on other customers with old cuticle on them. I'm so embarrassed that I didn't get up and leave. The tech used an efile to tear up my nail beds and then buffed them out anyway. This seemed to be a substitute for actually cleaning the old regular nail polish off. The nail polish application was sloppy with the tech applying way too much for each layer. No base coat was used, so my nail beds will be stained now. This tech applied the polish like it's gel and not like it's ordinary nail polish that needs to air dry. It's got bubbles and streaks and is cracking where the top doesn't quite cover the color. Especially strange was that I was asked to pay and tip before my service was finished. I won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend.

The space was super clean, chairs looked new, bathroom was tidy and well appointed, and the place just kind of screamed luxe. They also have a child size pedicure chair that is Elsa themed. Plenty of nail colors to choose from and she freehanded a super cute design on my nails. Since they recently opened, she is having a 10% off sale on all services right now. One last thing that I really loved is when they were done with the file and buffer that was used on my nails. they broke them in half at the end. To know they value cleanliness is huge when it comes to nails. Overall, I got a shellac pedi with French tips and shellac fill with design. My total would have been $90 (which is a great price for those things), but with 10% off my total was $81. Money very well spent.
