While I may not look fancy, I do like the fine things in life. Good food, decadent desserts and expensive shoes. Unfortunately, these days, I am on a tight budget. Every time I can afford it, I head over to Bellissima to treat myself to a pedicure. I have gone there quite often but usually for a wax. And while they do that just fine, its the pedicure that I can't resist to share with others. My last visit I was asked if I wanted the "classic" or the "upgrade". This kind of threw me off since I never get asked that. Well I went with my usual classic and during my whole experience, With so many extras, I felt I was getting the more expensive pedicure. I was bummed but decided to enjoy it since it is a splurge. Well, it turned out that this was the $25 pedicure. I felt so guilty the whole time because it was pure indulgence. I credit this great experience to the newest addition at the spa, Han. I have been there many times and always left happy but this last time, I just felt that the service was top notch. Don't forget to ask for Han, she is gentle at waxing and will make you feel amazing even if you just get the $25 pedicure. read more

Best facial I've ever gotten. Great reflexology work and wonderful massaging. The all natural products didn't irritate my extremely sensitive skin at all.They have extremely reasonable prices plus a frequent customer discount card. If you are looking for a place for a large group, they cannot accomodate you, but if it's just you or a couple of friends, this is one of the best, most reasonably priced, well-staffed spas in the area (and I tried out SEVERAL before my wedding). read more

Don't let the faux Italian moniker fool you. Instead expect a relaxing Asian-flavored massage spa in this little hideaway on the first floor of a Victorian. A modest gem on scruffy Shattuck. I've had a nice pedicure here, but I think the star attraction is really the massage - the prices aren't out of sight, and the therapists are solid and caring... Ina gave me an indulgent massage that was just absolutely lovely. I came out feeling refreshed and feeling reconnected to my body. The decorations of this place are very "zen" and made me feel relaxed. Music choice was good too. I have gotten accident, nothing broken nor crack, but really need to release all pain, tension and stress. Called in the same day. I was lucky that I got spot available. Monique's style was incredibly deep to the point and firm enough to relax my back/neck whatever is borthering me ends up amazing after. I found this spa on Yelp - went with the one review as it being a good place to get a relaxing message... this was a V-Day gift for my loving partner who's running now with Team in Training, so I wanted to give him a chance to relax... First of all the person i called to make the appointment was so helpful and willing to work within our time frame on a holiday... i was able to pay for his Spa Day before i left, and was told by his spa queen that he would be well taken care of - he came out of this place saying it was the best massage he had ever had "he's had lot's" we've been to more than a few of the upscale spas, but he said by far this was the best... so good in fact he bought a pkg deal so that he can keep going back.. Made an appointment for my bf and I as I wanted to surprise him for our anniversary. Our appointment was for 2:30pm but we came a lot earlier. Probably like 1:54pm. The person that greeted us at the door was still nice enough to tend to us and give us some hot tea while we waited. We waited maybe 15-20 mins and were asked to come inside. The reservation I had made was for a 60 min massage and 30 min facial. We were shown to a room with 2 beds. They had relaxing music playing and dim ambience. Very zen! The beds were also heated (maybe heated blanket?) but it felt so good. The massage was awesome. Full body massage that was not harsh and was really relaxing. It had oils and everything and then also hot towels to wipe off the excess oils which felt great. My bf absolutely loved the massage he received. He was so happy. The facial was good too. Head massage and neck massage included and our faces looked and felt great after.I really enjoyed it. Overall, I loved the services we received and we will be coming back. read more

I go there all the time because the massages always relax me and sometimes cure me of particular problems; for instanceI I have arthritus of the neck. A neck message and stretching of my neck helps get rid of tingling in my arms and feet and occational numbness. Went in with high hope after viewing other yelp reviews. Disappointed. Friend came into town and we agree to try this place out, as it looked very promising. We signed up for Experiencing Paradise package and after talking to the receptionist we up graded the facial (and extra $45) because we wanted extraction and the package was mostly just cremes and no stream. Facial was okay, the best part of the experience. Nothing special. The massage, pressure was uneven and too light. I did ask her to add pressure. If all you want is stroking, then this is the place for you. I have knots that I want worked on--this is not your place. Mani and pedi---yikes! I can do a better job myself. Mind you, when she polished my nails, she painted way over the cuticle bed and after she finished, she tool a small brush with acetone and cleaned it up--which looked better but left the sides of my nail unevenly painted. Went here for my boyfriends birthday. I was expecting a commercial building but was surprised to see that it was a house turned into a spa. We each got an hour massage and an hour facial with a hot bath in between both sessions. The lady checking us in seemed a little rushed, especially when she did my free underarm waxing for first time visitors. She missed a few spots and then took me to the massage room. The massage was nice, not too rough, which I like. The facial was interesting. I'm not experienced with facials but she just rubbed cold stuff on my face. No steam or extraction, which I was expecting so I was a little disappointed. The lady doing my facial kept clearing her throat, seemed like she had a serious itch going on. I get that people get sick and that it's normal but it was disrupting the soothing ambiance. I even think she made me sick. The bath in between the session was so hot it gave me an instant headache and made me feel lightheaded, but I liked that it had lemon slices floating in it. I definitely felt relaxed afterwards, before I got sick that is. Oh, and they have a really pretty clean bathroom. read more

My daughter and I scheduled the Celestial Path which is a massage, a distressing facial and a hot lemon bath. The room was clean and bright and decorated nicely. It was separated with lovely, layered sheer fabric. They started me with the massage and my daughter with the facial. The experience was calming, relaxing and thorough. the masseuse (I wished I asked her name) had magic fingers that manipulated the tiniest nook and cranny getting out all the knots. The facial was delightful with the best part being the cranial massage that went along with it. When we were both finished they escorted us across the hall to the tub room where two bathtubs were filled with hot water, lemon slices and lemon leaves. It also included sea salt. They served us iced water with sliced oranges. What a delightful experience. Highly recommended! read more

I have been going to Bellissima spa for massages for years, on and off with my other therapist. They are awesome. The site is beautiful and peaceful and tasteful. Great therapists, I have been massaged/treated by different ones and they are all great. You can ask them to go softer or firmer, no problem. Very kind, courteous, very clean environment. I haven't yet tried other services beyond the massages but plan to. You get $10 off on a card once you've gone ten times, and they have a massage special on Mon/Tuesdays for $1/minute. Honestly I feel like she is getting way to old and has no idea what she is doing. She is horrible. I left feeling unsatisfied. For the price, I felt like I should have been happy after leaving, turns out, I hate it so much. SO expensive for low quality facial. Monique, I'm sorry but you need to get a different job or retire or something, facials is not doing it for you girl. Maybe I'll give Thanh a try since there's a lot of good reviews about her. Decided to go because A. location B. price and C. they were able to take me right away. Could not be happier this all worked out! I will be back for waxing every appointment I need to make for the rest of the time I live in the Bay Area! Relaxing, serene ambiance via the colors, decor, and smells throughout the salon. The lady, Monique, who did the waxing has such a beautifully calm demeanor and her waxing technique could not be more professional, quick, and thorough! 6 stars for Bellissima! I love this place! Monique gives the best waxes. I had to move out of the area for awhile and went to cheaper spots but they never did a good job and they tended to be pretty rough. Luckily I have been back in the area for awhile and I learned that you get what you pay for. This place is a local treasure. It all starts when they welcome you with tea or flavored water. I'm a little hesitant to write a glowing review because I don't want the place to be inundated and change. The owner frequently makes small modifications to improve the spa's decor and offerings. I love the pedicures. They always do something special: special salts in the water, flowers in the water, a leg massage, etc. The massages are wonderful too. I feel transformed into a world of relaxation. They don't oil you up too much, but you leave feeling well-moisturized. They are very accommodating in terms of scheduling and personal needs.
