This place was such a little surprise tucked away in the Berkeley/Oakland/Piedmont area! I honestly didn't know what to expect, but it ended up being fantastic. If you're looking for somewhere to escape the workweek and relax for a few hours, this is definitely a spot to check out. The minute we walked in, we were greeted at the front desk, and check-in was quick and easy since our appointments were already booked. We were taken down the hallway to sauna 7, where we spent the next hour in a private Jacuzzi. The room was nicely set up, the water temperature was perfectly warm, and everything was extremely clean and smelled fresh. I was a little nervous about the cleanliness beforehand, but this was so much better than being in some communal Jacuzzi or at someone's apartment. You're able to change into your bathing suit once you're inside the room. After about an hour, we were able to shower right there in the same private room before heading upstairs for our spa treatments. I started with a facial, which was amazing. It was my very first facial, and I felt like I was in great hands the entire time. I also did a hand treatment where they dipped my hands in warm wax, and afterward my hands felt as smooth as a baby's bottom! Lastly, I had a massage, and it was both relaxing and effective. I seriously felt like I could have fallen asleep right there in the masseuse's hands. Overall, I loved the entire experience. I've never been somewhere where I could relax in a private Jacuzzi for an hour, shower, get multiple spa treatments, and leave feeling completely refreshed and energized for the week ahead. I've been to Piedmont Springs before and enjoyed the hot tub and massage that I received as a gift (and attended l) with a friend. I just tried to book what their site said was an open evening slot. The booking app is a circular nightmare that would nit accept my debit card. I tried to call in several times and was met with a loop of a voicemail repeating that their staff was busy ( not like, instrumental music that would have been fine). I gave up and called Albany Hot Tubs on Solano Ave. (where I'd been before, also as a gift). I got a live person immediately. They had an earlier appointment available that I took. Their machine was glitching at the desk, but the clerk (Emma) said they would send an invoice confirmation in a few minutes. They did it and I booked the appointment. Though my experience was fine at Piedmont, I should note that I was not surprised by the reviews describing standoffishness, rudeness and general passive aggressive racism ( and specifically anti-Black ) experiences customers have had there . Amazing experience at Piedmont Spa! The hot tub was clean, relaxing, and the perfect way to unwind. David gave me one of the best massages I've ever had, and I've been to several high end spas. He was professional, knowledgeable, and knew exactly what my body needed. My only suggestion would be to offer slippers or water sandals for guests. Other than that, everything was excellent. Some friends gifted my partner and I a coupon for a one-hour hot tub session followed by a massage of our choice. The place itself is pretty unassuming from the outside, you wouldn't think much of it walking in, but once you head toward the back, it opens up into these private little pods for each group. That setup really adds a nice sense of privacy, like you have your own little retreat. There's a quick rinse-off shower on the side before you get in, which is convenient, but they don't provide slippers, so if that kind of thing matters to you, definitely bring your own. The hot tubs themselves are relaxing, and I liked that the tops are open, so you still get fresh air and a bit of greenery around you. You can hear some light chatter from neighboring pods, but it honestly just blends into the background and didn't take away from the experience at all. There are free tea bags and hot water in the hallway you pass through on the way to the tubs. It's easy to miss, so grab a cup on your way in. After the hot tub, you head upstairs for the massage... via this tiny spiral staircase that feels a little questionable, not gonna lie. I definitely had a moment of "please don't let me trip right now," but once you make it up, it's totally fine. The massage rooms are upstairs, and you can customize things like the music and even how much clothing you're comfortable keeping on. Booking a 30-45 minute cedar wood sauna at the end of my workday is a new wellness habit. It really helps me reset. I often get an extra boost of energy to keep going for 2-3 more hours. It's only $20-22 and with the extra 15 minute cool-down window included it ends up being 45 minutes to an hour. Well worth it! I've booked the combo room, regular hot tub rooms, and these are fun with another person. The fresh air and trees above make this a nice choice on a sunny day or clear night. I've not been in for some time due to health issues. How to get a bad review. Be incompetent at your job and ruin someone's anniversary. The jist, I call 10 days prior to set up hot tub and massages for me and the wife. I spent 20 min on the phonedoing this and confirm it because they don't have the ability to book multiple services online. We show up early and the the young female behind the counter can't even make eye contact ad she tells us she can't find our reservation that she took my credit card to reserve and offers nothing to fix the problem. We didn't have massages on that visit, just using the couples private tub, but highly recommended! We drive in as far as the Sacramento area just to relax and soak here. I haven't been to Piedmont Springs for a massage in some time but have booked hot tub appointments with no issue. Booked a hot tub followed by a pain/inflammation massage 24 hrs in advance. I arranged my day for this evening appointment and get a call 1-1/2 before that unfortunately they would have to cancel. They make such a point to tell their customers that they'll be changed if they cancel yet it's absolutely no problem if they cancel on the customer. I made the appointment not to relax but to hopefully get some relief. Relief I won't be getting tonight. Seems things haven't changed. read more

This was a nice hot tub experience and a unique activity. We went with a group of 4 and it was $30 per person for an hour. The hot tub is outdoors but enclosed in a wooden structure. The water is very, very hot, almost two hot, and there is one jet that is angled a bit too high so that it splashes water out of the tub. The tub was also filled too full so when all 4 of us got in, a ton of water splashed out and soaked the wooden sides and floor, making everything kind of damp and wet. We got there 10 minutes before our booked time at 6:30pm but the room wasn't ready until 5 minutes after our time started, but they still knocked loudly on the door 15 minutes before 7:30pm telling us our time was almost up. I feel like the time at the beginning should have been accounted for at the end. Towels were provided which was nice but were kind of thin. read more

We've been going to Piedmont Springs for a number of years now, and have sampled their hot tubs and their combo (hot tub and sauna) room. Their beautiful wood tubs are so peaceful to luxuriate in under the starry sky, and I feel so relaxed whenever I spend an hour there. Beyond relaxed. Beyond relaxed, and occasionally, devoid of logical thought. Last week, I was so blissed out on steamy water and air that I failed to take all my stuff with me when I left! And it wasn't just any stuff, it was my wedding rings! Yeah, I know I wasn't the brightest bulb to wear them to a hot tub visit in the first place, but it was a stressful time of year/life (hence the hot tub visit!), and I didn't have time to leave them behind. But as I soaked myself into al dente noodle consistency, all the stress and tension melted out of my body, sweeping away all my customary hypervigilant attention to detail! Not to worry, because even though I know they're not responsible for lost items, Piedmont Springs collectively leapt into action to find them. Manager Ben immediately coordinated the safe return of my cherished possessions, which had been spotted, bagged, and tagged by the night staff, and discovered anew by the cleaning crew. It would have been my own fault for doing so, but it was an absolute miracle for Piedmont Springs to have thwarted my loss. Next time I go in for a combo, I'm gonna get out of the tub two clicks BEFORE my thoughts become soup! read more

I soaked in a hot tub Monday evening, and awoke the next day covered in a poison oak rash. I had not been near nature over the weekend, so am positive that I contracted the rash from their tub. When I called to let Piedmont Springs know, they told me they'd look into it? They did not offer to refund my $30, which would have been the minimum gesture of goodwill. I've always come here to use the combination hot tub sauna room. It's always been lovely with no issues. I booked a reservation over a week in advance for today and found out after checking my email that my reservation had been cancelled. I'm in my swimsuit ready to leave my house and I give them a call to find out what happened as I never got a voicemail or any message from them before this email this morning, day of my appointment. They said they called all the reservations up until Sunday, the day before mine to let them know the room is down. They said they were hoping it would be up and running again by today and it was not and that's fine but they should have let me know and given me a call ASAP, not an email cancellation same day. They didn't offer me anything other than a "sorry". Pretty bad customer service and I'm really upset. read more

The facilities are clean, have good amount of space, and are easy to navigate if you haven't been here before. It's very private and quiet, we didn't notice any distracting guest noise. My friends and I come regularly on Fridays and we are consistently greeted with blank stares and the sentiment that we are disrupting the ongoing at the front desk. Combo room = privacy, luxury, relaxation! I came on my birthday this year. I have been before but it's been years - since before covid! It felt soo so good to treat myself even to an hour of hot tub and dry sauna. 1 hour is $40/person/hour. It's not the cheapest but it's a luxurious treat-yo-self moment lol. The jacuzzi jets are nice and strong. I could stay there the whole hour lol. There is a shower next to jacuzzi and you can come in your clothes or not and just undress /dress in your private combo room. The outdoor portion had jacuzzi and shower, the indoor portion had the dry sauna room and a small area with a bench and hooks for dressing/undressing/towels.
