i had such a great experience at kume spa. i originally booked the service through groupon and ended up liking it so much that when i got out of there i immediately bought two more vouchers. i got a korean body scrub from tiffany and a deep massage from susan and both were amazinggg. my skin felt so soft afterward and the massage was exactly what i needed. for anyone who hasn't done a korean scrub before you will be booty butt azz nekkid for the scrub. i'm on the plus-size side and was a little nervous about the sauna or the bed but they made me feel comfortable the whole time. i also still had a bit of self tan on and felt kinda bad about staining anything, but they didn't make it awkward at all. i'm sure they deal with that way more often than we think. also shoutout to the woman at the front desk! she was so sweet and welcoming and made the whole experience even better. she explained their membership deal which sounds like a steal but i opted out for now. overall such a great experience and i'll definitely be coming back. read more

I gave it a 2nd chance because I was invited by a work friend for a foot massage. I thought - how can you mess up a foot massage? Right??? Well, I was so wrong! If I could give it a 0 star I would. Both experiences at KUME have been 100% terrible. I keep getting assigned unskilled massage people. They must have SOME skilled people, I assume, based on some of the reviews; however, they have just as many UNTRAINED people working there. They just seem to poke and push and punch without any skill in how to actually massage. No work on the muscles and ligaments or anything. Just an absolutely terrible experience. I mean - a nail salon could do a better foot massage. This place is too expensive to just be a "nail salon" massage. I could just go to a nail salon! Also - I noticed that there was an EXTREME difference between my massage and the ones that were happening across the room (it was a foot massage room with multiple chairs). So I could see that their massages were very different than mine. My friends seemed to have a masseuse who seemed to know what they were doing. In addition, this was supposed to be a FOOT massage, but most of the time was not even spent on the feet! Only about 10 minutes of the hour massage was on the feet. It was calf, shoulder (but only poking at me - not a real massage), etc. To make it worse, their hands were rough, so it felt like sandpaper on my skin, which was icky. Also, same as last time, the person did not speak ANY English, so I could not communicate anything (i.e. if the massage was too hard or if I needed adjustments). This experience was so bad that if I was not there with a friend, I would have gotten up and walked out. And for an $80 foot massage!! That's ridiculous. I could have gotten a pedicure for the same massage at half the price. I will definitely never come here again - even if it's with someone who wants to go (I'll wait at a coffee shop instead). They need to actually TRAIN their Massage therapists!!!! This should not be random to get a skilled person or not. And if they are student masseuses, that should be disclosed, which it is not. Well honestly maybe I should've managed my expectations a bit more but I just sort of assumed this place would give out reallllly good massages and perhaps I just didnt order the right "service" but I asked for a 90 min full body massage but it felt more like an exaggerated rub down...on top of that It was freezing in the room the whole time to where I had goosebumps on every part of my body thst was exposed and rather than my masseuse turning on the heat or the warm bed she just kept massaging until I asked if there was a way to warm the room some, then she finally turned the heated bed on which helped, if only a little. I asked to prioritize my neck & shoulder area and I dont feel as though that was done... I opted out of the CBD run or any add ons but really wish id chosen the aromatherapy to help the experience out a bit. I also wished id chosen a male so that id feel the massage a bit stronger but my friend who came along said she had a male & he was terrible so theres that.. There were people in the hallways talking & socializing really loudly outside of the room which was distracting & annoying and lastly, I honestly do not feel like I was given the full 90 mins... all this to say I would not recommend or probably return unless it was free & with a guaranteed highly skilled masseuse. I've heard good things about the services offered at Kume Spa but this was my first experience. I purchased a Groupon for the Korean body scrub + infrared sauna + coconut enhancement and was really excited to try them out. It was easy to book an appointment with them and I must've had good luck because they had an opening available on the same day! I arrived about 15 minutes early and to my surprise, my treatment started a little ahead of schedule. I didn't catch the lady's name but she was sweet and my body scrub was everything! My skin was so smooth afterwards and lasted for several days afterwards. They have lots of spa products for sale in the lobby as well as water and tea to enjoy while you wait. My only complaint is that parking is limited in the area but other than that, I can't wait to go back! read more

First time here just because I wanted to try a Korean Body Scrub. The package I purchased included a sheet mask with a light face massage. First I was asked to sit in the sauna for ten minutes, naked. Then she asked me to lay face down on their bath table. She started with exfoliating me front and back, then soaped + exfoliated, then finally a nice warm milk bath to end with. Lastly, I was ask to get up and rinse off on the separate shower on the side. Had a delightful experience and found perfect parking outside on MacArthur. The only thing I wish I had known ahead of time is to bring some moisturizer with me. The bath left my skin completely vulnerable to dry out afterwards. Just something to consider if you're trying it for the first time like I did. Back in September, due to their overall Yelp stars, I was a little wary to come here. However, they had a location on 19th near where I live and it was super convenient, so I decided to give them a try. My first experience, for a foot massage, was great, so great that I signed up for a membership. Unfortunately, a month or two ago, they closed that location :( I've since gotten over it and I continue to really enjoy coming here. My go to is the 90 min foot/body massage. It's a really relaxing space. The staff's friendly and helpful. Also, I really like their online scheduling option. It's very easy to use and I'm always able to find an opening. This is a nice place to relax and get a massage. I have been here about 3-4 times now. Massage: 4.5/5 I have gotten some good massages here. And I would recommend coming! The only reason it's not 5 stars is because a couple times my masseuse had a nail that kept scratching me during the massage, which was very distracting and at times uncomfortable. Price: 4.5/5 I think the pricing is pretty reasonable for an hour and a 1.5 hour massage. I have not done any of their other services though. Ambiance: 5/5 I think the ambiance is relaxing, they have a nice waiting area with complimentary water and tea. The rooms and clean and comfortable. Parking: 2/5 Parking is metered street parking and sometimes difficult to find a spot. So make sure to budget the time before your appointment to find parking! read more

The place is clean and the only thing we would do different is ask for a firmer scrub. My daughter had a 60 min massage after which she said was fine, I had the 90 min mixed with Charlie who was awful. I hate the feeling of being petted so I requested firm at the beginning and twice more during the foot portion and he kept going back to really light and erratic pattern, I guess since repeatedly asking for firmer he got mad and with the body portion threw the towel over my head was flinging and dropping my arms, I got scratched by his nail kept knocking the back of my head so I just stopped the service and left early. The management did adjust to the time I stayed. Unsure if I would return even for the bath. read more

This was my third time getting a Korean body scrub here and honestly it was probably my worst experience. I didn't realize until I was paying that they were super busy that day, which explains a lot. When I got there, the room wasn't even ready yet because the sauna was still warming up. I actually overheard the staff talking beforehand about the temperature not being ready, so they knew it wasn't ready yet. I still got put in a few minutes after my scheduled time and the sauna was barely warm. I sat in there for maybe five minutes before being pulled out for the scrub, then went back in when it was only around 111°. By the time I was getting dressed, it finally hit about 120°, which kind of defeats the purpose. It just felt like a waste of the scrub since the sauna time beforehand is such a big part of it. I also had to use a second location during my visit, which meant walking outside, and when I was leaving, the door was locked which is not a great ending. They did give me 20% off, which I appreciated, and I've been here before for other services and usually like this place. That's why this was such a bummer. It really felt like they just weren't set up to take me that day and I wish they had been upfront about being too busy instead of squeezing me in. read more

Korean Body Scrub + Infrared Sauna Experience + Coconut Srub enhancement I recently purchased the Groupon for the body scrub with infrared sauna and coconut scrub. Booking the appointment was quick and easy--I called and got scheduled right away. Just a heads-up: there's a $5 service fee not included in the Groupon. My appointment was at 5:55 PM this past Monday. I was greeted and checked in, then told to wait "a couple of minutes." Unfortunately, I ended up waiting about 22 minutes. I had some tea while waiting, but it was still frustrating--especially since I value my time. If there are multiple clients, I really think appointments should be spaced more realistically. Eventually, I was taken next door to the sauna room. I stayed in the sauna for about 10 minutes before the scrub started. That's when the relaxing part kicked in. The scrub itself was very pleasant. The staff member started on my back and worked her way around. She took her time and made sure I was comfortable. At one point, she covered my eyes so I wouldn't get water in them and even gave me a hair cover to keep my hair dry. After the scrub, she turned on the shower so I could rinse off. I felt incredibly clean and relaxed afterward--and I slept so well that night! I do recommend this service overall. Just keep in mind that you may end up waiting longer than expected, so plan accordingly. I did tip the staff member because the service was great--it's just the waiting time that took a bit away from the full experience. read more

I was in a very small hallway to change that anyone could've walked through. My experience was totally different than the person I went with. She was in the main building. I think everybody should go in their room personally and to make sure that they have the heater on when you're gone because it's really cold. Tiffany took amazing care of me from start to finish and I appreciate how comprehensive and skilled she was, including her ability to deal with long and thick curly hair. Even the questionnaire they provided beforehand showed me that this spa is committed to a diverse approach to aesthetics and relaxation instead of a one-size-fits-all approach. I walked out on the most horrible massage experience of my life. To start on a positive note--the front desk staff was wonderful, the lobby was clean, and the rooms looked well-maintained. Unfortunately, everything went downhill as soon as the massage began. The therapist (Tony) immediately gave off red flags. His technique had no flow, no rhythm, and absolutely no resemblance to a proper massage. At one point he was literally shaking my body around, and I had to stop him to say I wanted a massage, not whatever "slap me" treatment he was attempting. From there, he just rubbed my arms and legs back and forth in the most unskilled, careless way possible. It became to grow very uncomfortable and just felt very creepy. It was painfully obvious he is not a trained therapist--felt more like he had never done a massage before. He slathered cold lotion on me haphazardly, kept leaving the room multiple times during the session, and made the entire experience uncomfortable and ineffective. I left after only 30 minutes (well before the massage was supposed to end) because it was that unbearable. I genuinely wanted to give this place a fair chance, but after this experience there's no way I'll ever return. I legit walked out with more emotional and psychical pain. read more

Below is my appointment information copied and pasted from my confirmation email for Thursday, 6/12/2025: 6/12/2025, 3:30 PM, 45 Min Body Massage (MASSAGE) - Therapist 6/12/2025, 4:20 PM, HOT STONE (ADD ON) - Therapist I arrived at 3:25pm and was standing at the counter, fully dressed to check out, at 4:05pm. Reception could not find the gift certificate number I had called in so I know I stood there for five minutes while she searched before we transacted the tip. Below is the photo, with transaction time stamp, of the 20% tip I left for my masseuse, so you can see what time I left. My service was supposed to be for about 50 minutes, ending at 4:20pm. This would have me departing around 4:25pm after time to get dressed. In actuality, my service was only about 30 minutes. I was shorted a full 15 minutes, or 33% of my massage time. The nail in the coffin for this experience was the ticking clock in the room which was distracting. Overall a disappointing. I cannot recommend this business. read more

I visited a while back after having an awesome experience with their head spa and wanted to finally get a full body massage. I'm and esthetician and work in my feet most of the day, so I've been in desperate need of a regular place to get massages. The place was beautiful, front desk staff was kind and welcoming. I left with a bath soak that has been so nice to use. I'm not aware of the name of the man I saw as my appointment just said I'm seeing "therapist". I booked 30 min foot reflexology and 45 body massage. The foot massage left me feeling like I wish I had more. One foot felt like it got more work than the other, the motions were really fast and it kind of felt hard to relax, really hard and imbalanced pressure and rubbing. Started with a foot soak and received a brief shoulder massage over my shirt which. This wasn't great either, REALLY intense pointy pressure. Like I was just getting poked really hard over and over. For the body massage, I was never really asked what brings me in or concerns I have (also dint for the feet). I mostly expected this because the description of the massages does say the service will be tailored to my needs. I noted on my form a medium strength pressure was good for me. This massage was intense and painful all the way through. I couldn't relax, I asked him multiple times to lighten his pressure and for a moment he would buy a very little bit, and then he would go right back to the same pressure he was using. I felt awkward, cause he just kept laughing at my very obvious physical and audible discomfort. And tried to just keep telling me to breathe. When I flipped, and we got around to my back, his pressure was so hard that I felt like I couldn't breathe all the way in and out. In the end, the strain in my feet felt no improvement and I was left feeling even more tight and uncomfortable, and my neck and upper back due to his techniques. I understand that the massage includes mixed techniques, but I believe a brief conversation to figure out what I needed out of. It should've been necessary and had that happened I could've avoided this whole issue. I definitely had bruising and was sensitive to touch after. I would like to give the body massage another try someday with someone new, but I may just instead receive the scalp treatments down the street that came with an amazing neck and shoulder massage. 2 stars because the ambiance was lovely and I really would like to give this another try! read more

Upon arrival check in was smooth. We were offered tea and water and told to help ourselves. No tea bags or sugar was available. Was booked with my sister at the same time and was not informed that we would have to wait one at a time and wait fully naked for our turns. No footwear or robes were provided. No infection prevention practices being followed, tub was barely cleaned and no bleach wipes or antibacterial solution was used after my sister and it was my turn for the scrub. First time coming to Kume. Environment is nice very calming as soon as you walk in. Front desk help was okay. I came in to get a deep tissue massage of one hour. The massage itself was really helpful for my lower back and also my shoulders. However, my masseuse did not speak English so she did not ask if pressure was ok or if I was doing all right at any point. Ten minutes prior to my massage my masseuse stepped out of the room, and shortly after came in the person at the front desk. They had attitude letting me know I was over my massage time, they had other appointments and I had only paid for one hour massage. I was very confused since I did not ask at any point to extend my service or even speak to my masseuse. I was also uncovered from my lower half and had a towel on my eyes they did not knock for privacy or give me a heads up they just barged in and completely killed the whole relaxation vibe to my massage! When I came out and spoke to the same desk person they did not apologize just said there was a miscommunication because the staff does not speak English, and almost seemed as if they were trying to rush me out. read more

TINA was amazing! I went to Kume last Sunday for the first time. During my massage, she really paid attention to areas that I pointed out were strained and hurting. Her pressure and rhythm were PERFECT. She was so sweet and caring. I've gotten massages done, even in different states, but the one I got from her was the best. I don't live close, but I'll be commuting to Kume as long as I can book with her. I enjoyed my experience at Kume so much that I just booked my husband with a masseur/male massager for this upcoming Monday for his birthday - I'm really hoping he has a great experience there as well. The customer service and the ambience was lovely. However, I do feel that there were some pretty bad communication problems. I had explicitly shared areas that I needed to avoid and that I only wanted medium pressure. I had the scrub and a massage. During the scrub I kept asking the specialist to avoid my c-section scar and she kept scrubbing it. Due to scarring and nerve pain, the area is delicate. It got so irritated that it began to ooze at home, requiring a trip to the drug store. During the massage portion, the pressure was so strong that I kept asking to go easier and now I have a little bruises on my back and arms. I think it might be a nice place, I would just be very cautious if you have sensitive skin, injuries, etc. read more

I tried the float, cryo and sauna combo on a discount first time deal and didn't feel the benefits. The float water felt slimey and was irritating to my skin. I got out before the session was supposed to conclude. I also tried a 90 minute full body massage and wasn't impressed. There's no verbal communication before the massage starts, instead you fill out a chart for the body resembling what chiropractors use. The therapist was clearly trained in some sort of massage and responded to requests for less pressure but didn't check in with me as they usually do. He didn't have a plan and did some things unilaterally instead of on both sides. I was face down for 65 out of 90 minutes and only turned over at my request. He neglected most body areas except the back and arms. They have an odd sign in the massage rooms stating to alert the front desk within 10 minutes if you're not happy with your therapist. Never seen that before and has to be because people frequently aren't delighted by what they're experiencing. Won't be returning. read more
