It was off to a rough start as my phone indicates this is a family restaurant! Walking right in, the sports bar description fits much better. Lots of locals hanging at the bar and no families around. There were plenty of television screens. We took an inconspicuous table further away from the bar. Our waitress is a Jack-of-all-traits! She can serve you and then works as the bartender! I wanted coleslaw as one of my sides but they only had macaroni salad or pasta salad. When it came out, our waitress said we had the last. It looked like it was the last, unappetizing and gray. My friend said it tasted gritty. I had a small taste that didn't have much flavor so I decided to pass because I couldn't get over the grayish tone and too many bad carbs is no longer on my menu. Ugh! What's next? All of a sudden I was dreading it BUT the food came out! I had the chicken parmigiana sandwich sans bread. The portions are huge. It was smothered in a piece of mozzarella cheese. The food was actually good. The eggplant was delicious. No greasy aftertaste. The fries were really hot. I only had several pieces to try and could not eat too many though tasty it was. My friend's pasta came in a giant platter and was perfectly al dente. She enjoyed her meal and made two out of it and so did I. I had the cheesecake and my friend had the chocolate mousse in a cup. I found the mousse too sweet but the cheesecake was really good. Not overly sweet and light tasting. Too bad I could only enjoy a little! Both desserts were $7 a piece but the cheesecake was the clear winner. The bar vibe doesn't seem to work for me but at least the food was good and generous! If you are looking for a sports bar and good food look no further. If you are bringing family maybe during the day would be better. read more

Stopped in there last night for the first time in a long time for something to eat. Sat at the bar and ordered the broiled seafood combo. I don't drink at all I only had a seltzer and the service was not that great and the food took forever to come out. It did taste pretty good except the problem was and I didn't notice it until I was almost done eating that the plate had a big chip and crack in it. I mentioned it to the waitress behind the bar and her attitude was like she really didn't care. Charge me full fare I paid the bill left a tip. Very little meat like 3 slices of deli roast beef and the dip sauce was kinda weird tasting and greasy. Meat tasted and smelled old. I tossed out better deli meat at home. One of my local favorite watering holes and places to eat. Not usually a wait as they don't have much seating due to covid but only a few minutes this time. I was kind of upset as I ordered the T bone steak and ask for medium well and it was very grizzly and raw after asking for medium well. If you're looking for a dive bar with cheap drinks, good food for a good price, Bellos is the place to be. The bar has multiple television screens and plenty of seating. Their was only one bartender working on a Tuesday night but she was able to take care of us pretty well. I ordered a tuesday special which was the open face reuben. There was plenty of food that I had to take half the sandwich home. I did has to ask for extra russian dressing since they places a little bit on the snadwich under the melted cheese. The sandwich came with a side of fries and potato or macaroni sandwich all for $8!! We also opted for a pitcher of Sangria. This review is mainly based on the food. Frequently grab a bite to eat here for lunch. The lunch specials are always very good. I highly recommend the French Dip and Cuban Reuben sandwich (it's a Cuban and a Reuben and it's delicious) but they don't always have it. The bartenders and severs are very friendly as well so that's always a plus. I really only came here once with the sole intention of drinking and the crowd was 40+ I am not sure if that's the normal demographic but I think that's pretty accurate. read more

Came here for late lunch (around 4:30 pm) and to watch the baseball game. Today is also the Mother's Day so very busy with a few big groups and they are short of staff. The service is way soooo slow. The food finally came after over 1 hour. I asked for medium well porterhouse, but it was over cooked. However, my husband ordered the boiler salmon and it was great. Elaborate food menu with all your typical average bar fare. 2 pool tables & darts. Completely local crowd of the working class type. Fairly mixed age demographics, but as the night goes on the crowd grows younger. Bands from time to time. Adequate service,but you may have to be proactive to get your drink refilled. Affordable drinks and cold drafts. There's always been something missing here that I can't quite put my finger on, I guess it's the heavy local presence and slight lack of open armed welcome that just doesn't quite embrace you. read more

Odd reviews. They seem to be all over the place, and no, it's not a biker bar nor a dive. I'm not the only one drinking Martini's.It's a local bar/restaurant. I wouldn't recommend traveling far to get here, your town probably has a bar like this. It's friendly, older crowd but no rednecks, just local husband and wives and families that dine in the booths that are in the back dining area. The 24 oz Delmonico Steak for $14.00 is a great deal, the pizza's good, it's bar food. Try the pirogi app. Never had, or seen any problems....they do have less servers and bartenders than they need sometimes though. read more

As far as sports bars go Bello isn't bad. I met an old friend here to watch my Giants lose last night. This is the bar he goes to to watch Buffalo Bills games. I was looking for a new place to go so I took the drive over here. Beer were cold, food was greasy. TV's were plentiful. It was nice being back in Jersey watching the Giants play with a bunch of other Giants fans. Strangers of course, but it was a good feeling. read more

Bello's is a neighborhood biker bar located on one of the main streets in Sayreville. The place is known for having a good selection of draughts and some great food. Burgers and bar pies are cheap and delicious. It's been a while since I've been, but if there is any downside to the place it is that when bands play in this place, the volume can get overwhelming. The few times I've been in when it's karaoke night, it's bearable, and jukebox levels are fine. But a full blown band in this room is hard to handle (it certainly isn't made to handle brass). Other than that, sitting at a table won't get you the best service, but the small staff is friendly and there's plenty of televisions with numerous sports on to keep you entertained enough. During the week is mostly regulars and much easier to get your beer/food faster. read more

This place is good for grabbing a quick bite and a drink. The food is very cheap, but surprisingly good. Their "del monico" steak is $17!!!!! Served with a generous portion on mash and veggies. Ok maybe not prime or angus beef, but cooked the way you order it and not super fatty. The drinks at the bar are good if you get mixed drinks, beers can be a little pricey, but hey they gotta make money somewhere. This is a great place to eat bar food/finger food. The service is fast and the bartenders/ waitresses are really nice. The place is really clean and a fun atmosphere to enjoy with family and friends. Bello's has been my go to bar/restaurant for years now. I go once a week on average. Although it's a bar now it's more of a restaurant. Great food, great daily specials, good service, all for a reasonable price. Menu has a wide verity Steaks, Italian, Mexican, and all the normal bar food. My wife and I used to go to Bello's frequently but now that they don't have bands, got rid of the pool table and their great cook passed away, it just ain't the same. The chili had some kind of goopy stuff in it to disguise the lack of meat and the cranberry juice was way watered down. One of the very best values in town! Meals are great, the prices are better, but if you sit at the tables expect to wait a bit. We enjoy sitting at the bar, but if the place is busy just expect service to be slower. We eat here all the time because the value is that good and you need to try this place for that reason alone! I don't think there is any seat that you can't see multiple TV's so if you want to see a game and eat and drink for a great value this is the place. Dennis has moved the venue to a more family oriented restaurant and the change has been good. There is now a larger parking lot on the left and a nice party room for private parties. i went there Sat Night 5/11/2019 with a total of 8 of us 4 adult couples. I have eaten there plenty of times before never a problem. The time was 630. The waitress said to the other waitress what are we going to do with them. There was limited seating only for 2 guests at a time. I asked why dont you make us sit in the open other room. They said no they will get in trouble. We have eaten in there 2 other times before (open room). They said it was a party room. Duh there was no party going on. They wanted to seperate us 2 at a time. We said no why should we. Everyone else that was there were eating together. They did not even ask us to wait for an open table. So i said to the waitress that i wanted to speak to the manager she said that she left for the night. I said to the waitress that she is turning away 8 paying customers she grinned and walked away from us. We left and will never go back. We will also tell our friends not to go there either. We are also good friends of the funeral home across the street and will tell them not to tell their customers to eat there. My friend called the next day and spoke with the manager and told her what happened the night before and she blew off my friend saying that nobody ate in the open room for at least 2 years lol.
