Excellent food, excellent service. I cant believe I waited so long to try this place. They have panelle and potato croquetts on the menu as appetizers. Spoke with the owner, theyll make a panelle special for ya if you ask. I forgot to take a photo of Caesar Salad which also was very very good. Fellow Yelpers took me here and I loved it. I totally enjoyed the vibe esp since they had the Knicks playoff game running. Everyone was in a hype, fun mood. Lively sports bar with good food and not a bad seat in the entire place to watch a game. Most importantly though is that their draft beer is COLD!! So many sports bars have semi cold draft beer that Im surprised it's not talked about in reviews. Bartenders were great! Providing excellent service in a crowded bar without breaking a sweat. Terrible quality of food. Ordered take out. Got there at the time the email stated and had to wait an additional 40'minutes for the food to come out to only get COLD food. Went inside asked to return to food and receive a refund. To which the bartenders stated they can't print a receipt. Fine. A good place to catch any type of sports game...so good I stayed for 9 hours. It is located off a busy road, but has its own private parking lot. We were excited about heading to the bar for a nice evening out. We were sitting at the bar and ordered a margarita pizza and some wings. When the pizza came out the crust was burnt and when the wings came out, I did not take a picture of it it was burnt, we told the worker and she looked at the wings and stated that it was the seasoning that made the wings look burnt and the wings were very dry .They took it away and gave us another order of burnt wings. I also noticed another customer next to me, scraping off the top of his bread with a knife because it was burnt. We were really looking forward to a pleasant experience, but was disappointed by the food that has been advertised so lovely. I feel that the bar should be called THE BURNT it's sad because there aren't too many local places in the neighborhood that have great food and atmosphere, but we will not be going back. read more

Went to the old establishment a few times and wanted to check out the new bar after the renovation and new management. What a mistake!!!! The manager who I believe to be a shorter guy made us aware there was a party they were setting up for at 7pm. Which is fine told us we can order food and drink, wasn't even seated properly at the bar when he once again approached us stating the kitchen was closed and we can only order drinks. Solid neighborhood bar full of locals who all knew each other. 20 beers on tap. Beers were a mixture of craft and the usual favorites. My Blue Moon was cold and fresh. We ordered cheesesteak egg rolls and chicken quesadilla. Neither was particularly good. Short version: good bar food, really great bearded bartender and nice beer selection. We really enjoyed ourselves here on a Thursday night. Longer version: We accidentally reviewed this place thinking it was another ale house we went to (oops!) and someone from this ale house kindly reached out to us to point out our error. This put this establishment on our radar (we'd driven by a bunch of time but never stopped in) and one Thursday night we decided to come here on a whim. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a raucous crowd of what looked like regular patrons. There were a few groups there and they were laughing and having a great time. Good feel to the place though - we didn't feel like outsiders. Our bartender was really friendly and helpful/knowledgeable in choosing beers on tap. It was fairly crowded and he was the only bartender but he didn't make us feel rushed with our orders or questions. He also didn't make us feel insignificant or out of place by not being a local/regular. I wish more bartenders were like him. I think his name was Brian. Bearded Brian. The chicken cheese steak was great for $ 9.95. Husband forgot the second half at the bar and was bummed. The BLT was also really, really good. Fries and onion rings a hit too. Our beers were $5 and $4.50 during happy hour. This place is about 20 minutes from us but I know we'll find a way to be back again especially in warmer weather heading to or from the shore. read more

Been trying to visit spots outside of the norm to get some variety in our lives. This place had good reviews so we gave it a shot. It is hard to find solid 4 star establishments nowadays so we were excited to try it. Well... it just wasn't a hit for us. When I saw the last review was a year ago I should have known to tread lightly. I have given my pros and cons below. CONS - 1. Ordered 3 shrimp tacos(you can order individually). The shrimps still had the tails randomly. (I.e. if there were 4 shrimp per taco 2 had tails 2 didn't) Pretty hard to enjoy a taco when you have to chew around shrimp tail surprise 1 did come with no tails which was refreshing. I even showed the bartender. Although she was extremely nice and seemed sweet she was not phased by my concern. 2. Things listed on the website as menu items weren't being offered (far too many missing) The menu was A LOT smaller than what we saw online. Example: We were looking forward to sampling the cheesesteak egg rolls which were nowhere to be found. We were looking forward to them after the Yelp pics. The "football menu" had like 7 things on it...maybe less as I don't consider shoestring fries an entree or appetizer w/o accompanying something like a burger 3. If you aren't a regular you just feel out of place. The vibe was just awkward....like a fly in the buttermilk feeling or ordering a cheeseburger and getting just a bun and cheese. You couldn't sit close to the bar without it just feeling odd. Granted the bar was PACKED...again clearly with regulars which is fine as long as other patrons can get attention too!!!!! I mean as we circled the bar to see if there were 2 seats people clutched the empty chairs next to them so we wouldn't try to sit down and gave dead stares. PROS - 1. Bartender was sweet and tried her hardest to be attentive to us despite us being most comfortable in a corner away from the bar in seclusion. 2. Prices of the food was fair. 3. Shrimp tacos were good once you chewed around the tails. I hoping this was an oversight but pretty big considering what it was meant to be and how it should be enjoyed. 4. Hot honey sliders were pretty good. Simple with minimal ingredients yet had nice flavor. We likely won't be back. But at least we gave it a shot and can say we tried it. read more

This is a local bar in town, small and if you don't know what to look for, you might drive right past it. There are two separate bars in the tavern and both seat maybe twenty people per, possibly more. I really liked the feel of the place. I'm not a local to town but I felt fairly comfortable in the bar. Based on the pictures on the website, Facebook and Yelp I went to Ale House to get a flight of beers to try a few interesting things they had on the beer menu online. Well SURPRISE, the "ale house" doesn't do flights. Went around 1030 on a Saturday night, late night food menu, which was ok since I wanted the bar pie and wings. Both were ok, not great but good. The music was LOUD, sat at one of the table and it was impossible to hold a conversation. Another annoying feature is they don't have a printed beer list, it's only on a TV screen that is very tiny. A whole lot of unique craft beer all at less than $5 or less during perhaps one of central Jerseys greatest happy hours. Friendly knowledgeable bar tenders keep your cup from reaching dry gulch while providing much needed barely & hop advice. Mostly older dudes, but super warm and friendly. I didn't feel like a suit & tied stranger. Unfortunately no chow sampling on this trip( you wouldn't want to leave less room for beer now would ya), but everything seems to be priced fairly well with all your typical pub grub. Now I'm always searching for the perfect dive and this place is not by any means a dive, but not a hoyty toydy cocktail lounge either. This place lives up to its name as it is first and foremost a bar that houses many different types of ales, pilsners, porters, lagers, and stouts from a wide range of craft breweries across the country. Stone and Long Trail happen to be 2 of my favorite, but with over 25 different taps at all times and the selections rotating on a seasonal basis it's tough not to want to have a taste of each one of them. The food is above average pub grub; the bar pies & burgers are personal favorite. Wall-to-wall TV's around their 2 bars make it a great place to watch multiple sporting events, but it also has an area for live bands to play on the weekends. Shoot a game of pool, play some Golden Tee, or challenge an opponent in beer pong; the Ale House is a great way to spend a few hours no matter the day of the week or the season. read more
