The Sycamore Grille is such a hidden gem in Manalapan. There aren't too many dining options around (or maybe I'm just spoiled coming from JC?) but in any case, am super glad that I decided to check this out. The restaurant is located on the Knob Hill Golf Course. There is a large outdoor seating section that overlooks the course which makes this the perfect pick for an outdoor summer lunch. Lunch menu has got all of the classics - wings, pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and salads. Plus a full bar menu with a decent amount of selection. Only thing that we thought was a strange was that the drink menu didn't have pricing. For lunch my parents and I split an order of sliders and a pizza. The sliders came with three and a side of fries. In my opinion the burger was just okay - sort of dry and not super flavorful. I did really like the garlic aioli and the sweet potato fries though. Pizza was top notch. I love a thin bar pie with a ton of cheese and this really delivered. I also loved how the peppers and olives weren't just standard - the pie was topped with roasted peppers and kalamata olives. We had to convince my Dad to put olives on the pizza and now he is a believer. I washed everything down with a cold Blue Moon. I really wanted to try the in-house Knob Hill brew, but the waitress warned me that it was a little bitter. Still cool that they have an in house beer though. They also have various dinner specials like pasta night, burger night and wine night, just no specials at lunch. Next time I'll have to venture back during dinner to check it out!

Well it was freezing in the establishment I asked the bartender if the door could be closed because I was freezing he said sorry covid rules wear a warmer clothes. Not I'm sort we want to maximize our business or we could turn the heat up. The wait staff took forever and when called to ask to change our reservation they said they were packed; not true lest the 25 percent to capacity . The good as usual very well prepared I've dined here over a dozen times since I moved here extremely disappointing.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Sycamore grille. It is a little confusing to get to since there really isn't a sign to the place. It is located inside the clubhouse of the golf course. I wouldnt have found it unless I asked someone working there. This is a small place with a bar area and a few tables. The decor is older and it is what you would expect in a lunch spot that is in a golf clubhouse. They have a nice big tv in the dining area which is always a plus. That being said the food was pretty good. I was kind of suprised honestly. We started with the nachos and although they were standard nachos with all the fixings I thought they were good. For lunch I had the prime rib grilled cheese which was extremely heavy and lucious but hit the spot. If you are watching your cholesterol do not order this. It had a horseradish sauce on it as well that made it messy and delicious. My wife ordered the reuben and it was also pretty good. Again, this isnt a healthy item by any items but if you are having a cheat day definitely order it. Overall, Sycamore Grille was a pleasant surprise. If you can find if you will be pleasantly suprised by the quality of the food. I wouldn't bring anyone on a date here but if I wanted a good hearty lunch it is the place to be.

Their commitment to hospitality beats most restaurants I've ever visited. In our reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. When we were sat at the table, a birthday card was waiting for my mom. Our waitress Bailey was so nice and accommodated my mom's request to not draw too much attention to the celebration. I also adore the atmosphere in 618. The lighting is so elegant with the many chandeliers and the flowers on the walls. 618 has easily become a top restaurant for me.

Very cool that Venue 618 was the only NJ restaurant to make the recent Yelp Top 100 restaurants in the US. Sitting at the bar, we were served by Zoey, Steve, and Mike. They've re-done their cocktail menu to include beautiful color illustrations. I enjoyed "One in a Melon," a well-balanced whiskey cocktail with Frank August small batch bourbon, melon, poblano pepper, Aperol, and lime. This was followed by a tasty whiskey sour. My wife ordered a Lemon Drop martini, followed by a decadent chocolate-pistachio dessert martini. All of the cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. On the food side, I munched on a baked macaroni & cheese with chorizo. It was perfect! The Death of Hospitality brand thrives on personalization and unexpected surprises. Mixologist Steve, realizing that I'm a whiskey afficionado, surprised me with a small pour of Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel bourbon. This is a difficult bottle to find in New Jersey. Rock Hill Farms was incredible, with a super long finish. Thanks for the memories 618!

For dinner, my friends and I opted to share a variety of tapas, which our server did a nice job in timing out so that they wouldn't overcrowd our table all at once. All the dishes were fantastic, but the standouts for me were the seared octopus (deliciously charred!) and bacon wrapped dates (addicting little sweet & savory bites). When we were ordering, we were also curious about the paella, but in the end, the minimum order of 2 servings at $29-35pp felt too high. Drink options are plentiful, and we were surprised that not only do they offer pitchers of sangria, but also spritzes. We ordered the Hugo Spritz (light, refreshing elderflower spritz), and the pitcher was just perfect for sharing for 4. Lovely spot overall, and would love to come back again for a nice dinner out.

I left shortly after to attend a sports game and returned around 9:00 PM. Upon returning, I ordered a shot of vodka, then asked Cheryl for another Cosmopolitan. Her response was, "Well, you just had a shot of Tito's." I replied, "Okay, well I would like a Cosmo." I then watched her pour a splash of Tito's into the shaker. After receiving the drink, I paid via Apple Pay and asked for the receipt so I could leave a tip. Cheryl informed me that she had already tipped herself 20%, which I found inappropriate and unacceptable--tipping should be at the guest's discretion. I returned to my table and took a sip of the drink, only to realize it tasted like juice. I had several friends with me, many of whom are experienced bartenders or servers, including myself, and they confirmed it was not a proper Cosmopolitan. Upset that Cheryl had added a tip without my consent and served a drink that clearly lacked alcohol, I approached her to express my dissatisfaction. Rather than addressing the issue professionally, she gave me attitude and stated I shouldn't have been drinking before my sports event. She did offer a replacement drink at no charge, but again, it was just juice. Meanwhile, Cheryl and Alex were seen discussing the situation behind the bar, which only made the experience more uncomfortable. I want to make it clear that I will return to Sammy D's, but I will not be ordering drinks from Cheryl or Alex again. Additionally, I do not believe bartenders should be drinking on the job, and if Cheryl had been sober, this experience might have gone differently.
