!READ MY ENTIRE REVIEW ANY STUDENTS CONSIDERING ATTENDING SCHOOL HERE, BEWARE! Update to my last review since I received a reply. I struggle to see how me reaching out will mend any negative experiences a had at this school. I was made to pay almost $2000 in overages while I was dealing with a serious health concern and cancer scare. During this time I had to take days off of school for doctors appointments and days to process everything I was going through. You told me I should contact you, but when I tried to get your information, I was told there was no point and I had no other opinion but to pay. That would've caused the $26,000 I paid in tuition and 200 hours of my time to have been for nothing. To add I was bullied relentlessly at this school and it made me nervous to go to school everyday. Once I brought up this issue with a teacher and they made me talk it out with the other student. The teacher wouldn't let me speak and made us apologize to each other, after this the bullying got much worse because the girl started telling everyone about what happened and that I was a snitch. The teachers picked favorites (the more popular or "cool" students) and in fact all of the teachers forgot about my graduation as well except for one (thank god for you Mr Ivann). I would appreciate it if YOU were to reach out. It is impossible to contact you yet you tell me to do so. I have many more grievances I would like to air out to you. read more

This review is specifically for my hair stylist/colorist Kat. From beginning to end she was extraordinary! Told her my idea, talked me through everything she was doing, and my haircut / color was everything I asked for and more. My ends were dry as Palm Springs and she color matched my old balayage (covered in box dye oops) to my roots perfect. My hair hasn't felt this healthy in a long time. Additionally Kat made me feel so comfortable during the entire process and she was very easy to talk to. The academy itself was very clean. Staff was overall very kind. Time took longer than the average salon but I completely understood because your service is done by students. The students are consistently overviewed by their instructors. My advice coming into the academy, -Call before hand for an appointment. (I was told waxing services end around 2-3) -Tip the students well if you're happy with the service! (Just because you're getting a really good discount on your bill, doesn't mean the students are giving you discounted service) -Definitely be patient/plan accordingly, while it is a service for you as a customer, they are learning as students. I did leave with a little reaction from the hair dye on my neck, but that could easily been by the towel placed on my neck sliding down/ because I have sensitive skin. 10/10 would recommend Kat! I attended Bellus for the Spa/Nail program. As much as I loved my program and the school I do believe there is a favoritism problem and unprofessionalism from instructors. All in all if you avoid drama and just remind yourself what you're there for you'll have a great time. Ms Yesennia is your BIGGEST ally! She's the best and will help you with whatever concerns academically you have. This school is probably the best option compared to others because you get more bang for your buck. They make sure the education portion is priority. read more

Wonderfully clean and fresh feeling place. It's definitely not hard to find and there's plenty of parking in the lot. Upon arrival I noticed the entire place was very clean and looked incredibly professionally. I checked in with the front desk for my facial appointment and they were very helpful and courteous with the paperwork. The wait time was incredibly minimal and the paperwork easy. Please keep in mind that this is a school and that these are students so they're doing what they're trained and sometimes the services take a bit longer than usual because they just want to do it the right way which I appreciate. I was taken back into a place that kind of resembled a hospital with curtains to close off every section. I was directed to change into an easy white towel/blanket cover up that exposes your head, neck, shoulders and arms. The facial was about an hour long beginning with a paraffin arm wax treatment that was very warm and left my hands and arms feeling incredibly soft and relaxed. The next part was the actual facial which was pumpkin. It smelt so good and felt tingly in a good way. I thought it was just the residual alcohol burning but it was the pumpkin. The whole experience was very lovely and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a very reasonably priced and relaxing way to pamper themselves. Matt was awesome and all my troubles melted after a while. He was very professional and kind. I would go and be boujee for a day. read more

What a horrible experience! I sat in the chair for 50 minutes while the student and the educator looked for a color for my touch up. They finally came back to tell me they could not help me as they didn't have the color. I had been there 3 times before for a root touch up, and was satisfied although not thrilled. When I went to the front desk to tell Chase the receptionist what happened he asked if I wanted to reschedule. NO apology, nothing I drive 25 miles one way to be there. Never again. They all were less than caring. Do they teach customer service? I guess this proves that you get what you pay for. I left feeling terrible. Buyer beware!! read more

I wrote a thoughtful review of this "academy" a could of years ago and it has been removed. Why? Because most of the negative reviews have been removed. Though there are a few here. I think it is very important to know that Bellus did not provide a good education for my daughter. We paid $16,000 at the end of it all and she had little for it. Also, several African American female students were treated with extreme racism, including name calling. When I addressed this with the director she promised to do something and did not. When I submitted the first negative review she carried me and said "I thought we talked about this," I said yes "but you did not due the racist." I would advise that if you are interested, talk to current students at the end of their term, not the beginning. read more

I called to book an appointment to have my nails done last week and I called on a Tuesday during business hours and they never answered so I left a voicemail. Well I never got a call back, so I called later that same day, they still did not answer!! I called the next day and the lady that answered sounded really bothered that I was calling and said the time I wanted was booked, ok whatever I'll take the later time even though I called the day prior and I'm sure there would have been an appointment. I asked to get my toes done too& she said "well we can't do that you'd have to come a different day in a really rude voice. A no I'm sorry would have worked. I then was calling on the day of my appointment to double check the time as she said two different times when I talked to her and she didn't answer so again left a voicemail and still nothing. So I called an hour later and she didn't answer- at. This point I was fed up and this business is lucky I still came in because based off this rude receptionist I almost didn't go. It took 5 calls for her to answer!!!- ridiculous and when she said she said "hello" really rude sounding. I never got her name but I called in the morning between 10-12 during the week. This is horrible customer service and they really need to hire someone else to answer phones because they almost lost business because of this person. I heard another person who was getting their nails done say they had the same experience with this rude lady. My nail artist did a great job though, her name is Lexi. read more

As it was my first time getting a hydrating facial, Lorraine took the time to explain the process thoroughly, which I greatly appreciated. The area I was in was super clean, and Lorraine's gentle touch made me feel relaxed throughout the entire treatment. I recently visited and made an appointment for a Microdermabrasion facial. It seems to be a hit or miss with people at the front desk as well as the estheticians. What I do know it's a school and everyone is learning and doing their best. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of working with Elijah. She was Fantastic with a capital F! I've always loved getting facials and having my skin cared for. Now that I'm a little older my skin needs a little more attention. Elijah was able to listen to what I wanted and offer additional services that made my skin glow. I can tell this is a passion for her by the way she applied the products, explained what they were and what they would do for my skin...the thing that was outstanding is the gentle massage technique she uses to apply the products. Yes!! I came in yesterday evening (6pm) for a touch up to my 8 month Balayage that I got done at a different salon and to get my hair lightened a little more. I've never been into a beauty school but was convinced by yelp reviews to give this place a try. As soon as you walk in it looks like a professional salon with all of the students wearing black and anxious to work on you. I signed a wavier when I checked in to acknowledge they were students and I was seated at my girls chair. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and then consulted with one of the instructors there. I wouldn't be afraid to come here since the instructors are there from start to finish consulting the student. My girl was excellent. She was gentle and took her time to make sure things were perfect. I got out at 10pm because my hair is SO dark it took a while for the bleach to lighten up. The facial I received by Samatha was AMAZING. Oh my god. Probably in the top 3 facials I have ever gotten. She was soo good seriously. I got her card so I could make sure to be seen by her again. I have received a lot of treatments at bellus and this is the first review I've ever written. After checking in, I was greeted by Jessica at the entrance with a friendly and welcoming smile. I am very sensitive when it comes to treatments for my face. Although I was a little iffy coming in, Jessica eased all my worries. She set a very comfortable environment. I gave her some insight on my do's and dont's, and she respected them. The overall facial was great. She has very soft and gentle hands. She was considerate when it came to the extractions on my nose. After the treatment, I asked if she could help me find an exfoliater. She was kind enough to walk me out and give me a breakdown to find a good fit for me.
