I really wanted to keep volume at my ends while getting rid of the thinned out pieces and Anna totally understood my vision. I appreciated her asking if I usually tie my hair up and suggested cutting the face framing pieces to where it's long enough to tie up. It's the little details like that which made a huge difference! Anna is incredible. She took her time to explain to me how she was going to cut my hair and where it would fall on my back. She didn't just go in cutting . She took off a small amount first because I was very nervous , I had ent had a hair cut in 6 years . But I needed one so bad. Sorry in advance for the long post. (In case you don't want to read, just know Anna is amazing. You NEED to have her work on your hair. She genuinely cares and makes sure it gets done how you like it.) Okay so here's the long version: I've been putting off cutting my hair for a little over a year because I get really nervous about where I go to get my hair done. I recently moved to Poway, so I didn't want to drive down to Otay just to get a haircut. I finally had enough of my long hair, so I set out to find a new stylist. There were a few in the area I was looking at, but I kept leaning toward Anna. The main reason I originally went to her was because I saw how diverse her client base was. I wanted someone who was able to work with many different hair types. So I finally built up the courage and set up an appointment with her. I wasn't very clear on my appointment time preference so I had to go back and forth with her a couple of times. Even through my difficult schedule, she never made me feel like a burden. On top of that, she was able to fit me in on the exact time and day I needed. On the day of my appointment, I came in and she instantly made me comfortable. I usually hate the awkwardness of getting my hair done because I'm generally not good at small talk. She is a natural people person, so it was actually fun; not awkward at all! Alright, so the actual quality of her work was... amazing. She asked me what I was looking for and if I had any pictures, so I showed her a few. She instantly recognized the look I was going for (I now know it's called a lob/long bob). To make sure she didn't cut my hair too short, she cut it slightly longer than where I specified and made adjustments from there. She even offered suggestions on how to make it better. At that point I already trusted her judgment so I went with it. No regrets! (She framed my face by trimming/tapering the front) After she was done with the cut, she styled it straightened for me to show me how it looks that way. Then she went ahead and showed me how it looks with waves. She even took the time to educate me on the types of products I will need on top of teaching me how to do it with a hair straightener (I don't have a curler at home, I used to hate curls/waves so I'd always straighten my hair). I'll be honest, even though she taught me, I definitely need to practice doing my own waves. I can't do it as well as she did, haha. Anyway, I love my hair and I definitely plan on seeing Anna again soon (this time for some color treatment before my next trim/cut). If you made it this far, hopefully this helps you decide! I recently moved to Poway and I needed to find someone to cut my hair. This can be scary when you have no recommendations at all and because in most of the saloons the hairstylists are changing all the time so you never know what to expect next. I'm one of those people that are super terrified of doing anything with my hair, especially since my natural color is so dark. I showed her a picture of a balayage style she had previously done and gave specifics of how I wanted it catered to me. Anna was super understanding and reassured me she'd only cut off what was needed for it to look less frayed and healthy (a huge plus for most of us girls who have lost inches over a stylist who wanted to take the reigns on OUR hair). She checked in on me on several occasions to make sure I was still alive and breathing as she put the color in since she knew how big of a step this was for me . I went to Anna I believe on the 2nd (sorry for the late review! ), and wooow. I have never been this happy with a cut before in my life. I found her on here LAST year and was so in love with her work, never found the time to go, then covid struck, and now when the restrictions are easing up I finally went and I am so happy I did. She works a lot with color as you can see from the other reviewers, but I just went in for a cut since my hair was half way down my thighs and I'm super touchy about who works on my hair.
