While they sell discounted tickets for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free, we and all the other families there found the tour to be a real struggle for our little ones. We all felt a little misled about the experience based on the online description. It's a lot of standing very still (in rooms with equipment that shouldn't be contaminated by guests, or next to equipment that has cow poop on it), listening to the owner talk for long stretches. We expected more movement around the farm and time outdoors, instead of something closer to a lecture with a large group in tight spaces. It also ran over time (to 2 hours!) ending with a nice close up visit with the cows and some small cheese samples. We did really enjoy meeting the cows and learning the details of how cheese making works. It is a real labor of love. I think there's a lot of potential here; the Achadinha tour has all the ingredients for an awesome visit but could use some editing. This tour could easily be 30 minutes, an hour tops. We would've liked to stay and buy some cheese but by 1pm we were all starving and fled to find lunch elsewhere. Other parents shared they would've had a great time there on a date, but definitely wouldn't go with small kids again. I'll also flag that they require you to step through a decontamination footbath to go inside the facilities. There were a lot of miserable people in sandals who had to get their feet wet in the chemicals. Closed toed shoes that can get wet recommended for this tour.

Comes with a card explaining where the cheeses are from and a toppings bar. So much fun mixing and trying new toppings- very cool experience. Best part is the cheese club! Immediately joined. Highly recommend for great wine, cheese and an awesome experience.

(Which is pretty often and annoying to friends and family.) Anyway, my favorites from Andante include Rondo (I think it is so cute I had to take a picture) and Minuet. Rondo is a mix of cow's and goat's milk and according to the website, has "the fine texture and brightness of a goat's milk cheese and the mouth feel of a cow's milk cheese." Basically just means it is damn good cheese. The Minuet is a goat's milk triple-creme and is super, super smooth and is designed for champagne tasting. However, I am a heathen and prefer just to have it plain. Andante has a little stand at the Ferry farmer's market and is located at the far backside of the building next to Della Fattoria. It was at their warehouse on Payran Street in Petaluma from 12:30pm to 6:00pm on 03/14/2025. I got there about 5:40pm and was surprised at the prices. I mean Toma that normally is $22/lb was $6/lb for precut wedges, and packages of Soppressata Salami for $3 instead of $8! You can't beat that with a stick!! Their cheese selection was large and very reasonably priced! The salami, well you could buy it by the package or the case with an additional 10% discount off the case. And the nice thing was they took credit & debit cards. Usually Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co., is found in specialty places as well as the farmers market and this was their first warehouse sale event. The people working it told me with it being a cold, gloomy day that had a little drizzle, they didn't expect many people but apparently they had lines of people all day long! Hopefully, they will continue to do their warehouse sales as the prices are phenomenal, their cheese are excellent and it's always nice to buy and support local businesses!! My fingers are crossed that they'll announce some more warehouse sales!
