This is probably my second most visited coffee shop. I come here quite often to get the Barack on the Rocks! I do prefer the sandwiches over the burritos but both are good..... but foreal try the biscuit! Very nice place to sit and enjoy your drink and alot of people work out of the coffee shop and its still plenty of room. First time! Quaint, cozy, and clean. The service was flat. I found the person that rang up my order backhandedly rude, and, passive aggressive. The Chai Latte was good. The interaction with that staff member really took away points to what is supposed to be a really lovely coffee shop. Really wish I had discovered Bellwood sooner because I just had the best afternoon here. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy but they have a great amount of seating inside and outside. We found a table with seats outside and enjoyed our drinks there. The staff was super nice and offered some great recommedations. I went with their salted brown butter latte and oh my god it literally tasted like the dough of a brown butter chocolate chip cookie! I stopped in Bellwood Coffee because I was feeling a little ill and thought a drink and a snack would settle me out a bit. (Bear with me, I'm from the "feed every ill" generation.) I ordered a small iced sugar cookie latte and the Faulkner burger. (Again, bear with me as yes, this is a snack!) The latte was so perfect for me! I was afraid that it would be too sweet but it was absolutely not! Someone with more of a sweet tooth would want to add sugar but I loved it. This means a lot as I am not a coffee drinker, especially not an iced coffee but this drink was exactly what I needed. I don't know much about coffee but I know about burgers and this burger was GOOD! I haven't been this impressed by a burger since Illegal Foods popped up at Joystick (Illegal Foods will forever be missed.) The burger is simple - meat, cheese, sauce and bun. But the flavor was 9/10! I would have given it 10/10 if there had been pickles! The meat was seasoned well, the sauce was complimentary to the meat and cheese and even though I got my burger to go, it was still HOT when I got to my car to eat it. This burger was finger-licking good but it was nicely wrapped in foil so I didn't make even a small mess. If I'd known this burger would be so tasty, I would have left a bigger tip because what a surprising treat! There was a live band playing the night I visited and the music was so chill. There were at least three musicians but I could only see the guitarist and the cellist (yes, cellist!) from where I sat. Their music was perfect for the energy of the space. The service was fast and warm vibey. The man who took my order had a genuine smile and had great energy. And the man who brought me my latte wasn't smiley but he had a warm vibe too. The shop was full too, with groups and solo patrons at most of the tables, but it wasn't loud. And feel like I'm blowing up their spot a bit, and for that, I am sorry! Caveat to the five stars: I only had this one experience but it's hard to ding them one star when everything about the experience was positive! There is even ample free parking! (Additional retail parking is up the hill towards the apartments.) When someone says "hidden gem", I want them to introduce me to a place like Bellwood. read more

Bellwood coffee is a cute, almost hidden coffee shop right off of Bolton Rd. I stopped by after work, in between my next move, and needed somewhere to get some work done. I didn't realize that they would be turning into. Valentine's day pop up after 5 but I stuck around and here's what I learned. Ambience: The vibe is cozy, cute and the atmosphere is friendly, as well as is the service! I was greeted upon arrival, described the menu items, and served to my table bar bites at the right temperature and with a quickness. The later it got, the place became packed and the music turned up slightly- chill soft music to enjoy while getting work done. Bites/ drinks: Here is where we lose 1star. I tried the pop up bar bite-the chips and queso- and on first bite the texture and taste were not tasty at all. Il have to be back again for when they are serving coffee. They were very polite and offered me something else which I do appreciate. Decor: lots of chairs, high tops, and a leather sofa so lots of room and options to sit and enjoy. I didn't realize there were multiple locations and was actually looking for the one with the plant store. When I walked in, I realized it wasn't the right spot, but I felt bad leaving--so I went ahead and ordered a latte, which turned out to be really good! I didn't stay long since I was short on time, but I absolutely loved the layout of this place. It felt so warm and welcoming! They also had some super cute merch--I couldn't resist grabbing a keychain and a sticker. I was amazed at how quickly my drink was ready. This is a cute little coffee shop on the West side. There is a free surface lot right outside which usually makes parking a breeze. The staff behind the counter have always been friendly whenever I visit and the coffee drinks are executed with care. The only thing I wish is that there were more tables and outlets readily available so that I could consider this spot a great option to work from during the day. I went once in the evening and the only had a cocktail menu, not sure if that is only in the evenings or if those are also available during the day. This seems like a newer place and potentially in a newer development. There is a lot of seating and it is a warm, open space with a lot of natural light. There is an array of seating options including couches, stools and bar style seating, regular chairs and tables and different kinds of armchairs, so there are spaces for those who are there to work, other areas for those who want to read and relax, and good places for those who want to catch up with friends. I had an espresso and a pour over. The pour over was a washed Kenyan. I think it was a little under extracted, but the flavors were good. There was a bit of a raisin-y note that was interesting. The espresso was good, not great. The barista was friendly and drinks came out pretty quickly. When I was there (a Tuesday afternoon) they were somewhat crowded, but seating was available. This is the second time I've been here and both have been great experiences! I got the gold rush coffee with oat milk and it was soooo creamy and delicious, not too sweet but still very tasty! I got the breakfast burrito with bacon which was a little $$ but really hit the spot! The "spicy" sauce wasn't very spicy but it was SO flavorful and I dipped every bite in it, definitely would recommend. They also have cholula at the counter if you want to add a little something extra. I grabbed a spot by the window and enjoyed the sunshine, it's busy here but still a few spots open to sit and relax- vibes are great here. Beautiful day today in Atlanta I planned on doing some work away from home so I looked into some coffee shops near me and found Bellwood Coffee. The inside was beautiful just as advertised on google, a lot of space inside very well ventilated the cool air was everything today but I did decide to spend my time outside. I got a cappuccino and a cookie, unfortunately the only options they had left for eating was a cookie or a homemade poptart so I did not get a chance to see everything they had. That is on me though I got there kind of late and I guess that's a good sign for them that they were sold out. Cappuccino was delicious and I have never had a bad cookie before, (I don't know how you can mess a cookie up), I want to come back another time to see the different options they have for food, I'm not big into coffee so I get the same thing everytime. Cute little stop, I came here to do a little work. They have WiFi, I never got the WiFi password though. There's someone what of plenty of parking. There's a residential lot being built on so until that's finished there is extra parking. There are plenty of places to sit but some areas are shared ( if you intend to or not ) . You're greeted with smiles when you walk in and plenty of greenery. I got the Sunday morning and it's light a has a subtle taste which I prefer. I'll come back with a group but for me personally I'd probably not come back alone. Big patio - plently of seating out and inside on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered 2 drinks and sat for 4 hours. No one bothered us until it was time to close which you know isn't unreasonable lol. When I arrived on a weekday around noon, it was full! But don't worry, you'll see plenty of other parking areas nearby as you drive up to the location. II. SERVICE The staff member who took my order actually carried genuine conversation. It was above standard and not your superficial "how are you" lingo. I also liked that they provide a serve-yourself water station. III. QUALITY I got a cappuccino here and was pleased with not only the cute latte art and ceramic dishware but also the milk-to-espresso ratio. So we'll executed that I HAD TO order another! ATTENTION BLACK CUSTOMERS: I've been in Bellwood maybe 5 times now. Each time, I've always felt a standoffish attitude but I never thought too deep into it. Today, I went for a biscuit and a coffee. It was a little busy so I had to wait, but by the 15 minute mark, I found it a bit much to still be sitting for a coffee. I got up and asked if my coffee was ready, and a man at the front in a trucker hat, thick glasses, and a mustache said "sorry people are taking drinks". The girl next to him said sorry and that she'd remake it, but she said it to him. Not me. I nodded and said okay, and for some reason the guy with the mustache just gave me a dead stare as I walked away? A few minutes later he yelled "here's your gold rush" and I went and got it. This man yelled "have a great rest of your day" in the most sarcastic tone possible. I couldn't believe that. This same man has always given me dirty stares and made me uncomfortable when I've caught him looking, but I found that ridiculous. Shouldn't I have an attitude? The person who's been waiting for a coffee for 15+ minutes? What on earth type of behavior is that? I always notice baristas speak with white patrons and laugh with them. As a Black patron, I always feel a stare and rarely get a smile. Today, I experienced outright nastiness from a guy I did nothing to. I'm so tired of walking into a building and feeling like I'm not wanted because I look different. I'm so sick of other people taking their hate or anger out on me. My hubby and I have been a fan from the beginning, back when they were just a stand in the former restaurant space. Their drinks change seasonally but are always great. It's nice to see how the business has expanded and the workers are just as friendly as when the owners ran the stand themselves. The new space is beautifully and quaint. I keep telling my hubby to come and work from here because they have comfortable seating, wifi, and even a small upstairs patio area. Of course I enjoy the drinks and the coffee bags that we bring home, but I also enjoy their biscuits. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. read more
