I was searching for a new café to try and found this neighborhood spot. I had the Caribbean Latte, and it was so good , it was a great recommendation from the cashier. This place is very family oriented, with a chalkboard for kids to draw on and a homey vibe. You can work from this location while enjoying food and drinks. This was my second visit here meeting up with my dad on a quick trip to Atlanta. And I have got to say, I love this breakfast place! It's in a really neat little shopping area with plenty of parking and lovely green spaces. There is outside seating and ample inside too. It's dog friendly meaning you can actually bring your dog inside which is rare. There were so many people with their dogs. They have plenty of drink options. I got the chai tea is it was great! Yelp game me a 15% off cou one for checking in so make sure you do that and use it! I got the French toast the first time and sweet potato Pancakes the second. Both were yummy. The sweet potato pancakes would be perfect for Someone that doesn't want really sweet breakfast. Next time I'm trying the pastries. I like their food prices and offerings and the location is killer. No one else seems to offer these nice breakfast sandwiches at a reasonable price point. SO I want this place to be good. But with the dining room being so dirty and falling apart I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. They also have poor ventilation for the kitchen so it is often so smoky it gives me a headache and your clothes smell like burnt toast when you leave. I came here a couple of times to get some writing done. Twice I ordered one of their signature/special flavored lattes, and I asked for half the amount of espresso since I don't really like the coffee taste to be too overpowering. Both were diff flavors and still tasted like straight up coffee bean. No white chocolate, raspberry, or whatever that was that I ordered in the flavor profile. I also ordered some food. Pancakes once, which were small and not memorable, and the hasbrowns with onions and peppers or something. Also not great, and too oily. The ambience is fine, but not very clean. People are moving in and out of the tables and booths and because you seat yourself, nobody seems to be actively wiping off tables or cleaning food bits from the floor in between customers. I settled on Cafe Lucia as a comfy work from home spot, and I was glad I did. Parking is plentiful on the street and in a lot behind the establishment. The menu is clearly posted on chalkboards and they have a large selection of drink syrups. The chipotle BLT was delicious, even though it didn't match the menu. This Cafe has a good location & friendly staff. The food is decent, but the coffee is hit-or-miss. BUT, the big issue is the perennially decrepit dining area. All of the booths are worn & torn & you feel like the springs are gonna stick you in the rear end. Indeed, One of the booth seats is FFFN DANGEROUS because you could sit on it & get a bad cut & bruises (after a couple years of this, they finally put a sign on it...why not just fix it?) THEN, there is the constantly terrible air quality - the Kitchen doesn't seem to have ventilation & the exhaust fills the dining area. This is so bad that the staf has to keep the front door open all the time...which then invites pests inside - too many Flies, Gnats & yes, Mosquitos in warmer weather. The owner(s) need to put a little bit of care into this because it kinda tells customers that they care less. The last time I went to Cafe Lucia, the Restroom (usually not in good shape) was out of order. I'm sorry! But this is unacceptable. Perhaps it's time for the Health Dept to make a real inspection. This ownership needs to get its act together because this should be a great place to go. Instead, it's a big disappointment & the few customers that come in are being taken advantage of. Located practically in the center of Smyrna Market Village sits this little unassuming coffee shop with double doors sided with two squared off bay windows and topped with a simple white sign with a purple coffee kettle. With all the windows on the doors and, well, the windows, you can't help but to look in and wonder what goodies they have to share. I will admit that I have lived in the area and many Yelp searches have flashed that coffee and pancake picture up when searching for my iced mocha and a biscuit, yet I never ventured in...until recently when I was wondering around SMV and of course, needed my Iced Mocha fix! I ventured in and was greeted immediately, I was the only patron in store at the time, so I looked over the menu for a few moments debating if I wanted to add one of the pastries or sandwich to my order. I decided not to, but they have a decently impressive menu for such a small spot that specializes in beverages. Breakfast features a Build Your Own sandwich and/or omelet. You can choose from (5) types of bread, (6) types of meats, (6) cheeses and (5) veggies. So, the possibilities are plenty! In addition, they also offer up specials from time to time and on the day I visited they had French toast and sweet potato pancakes! For lunch you have just as much variety with the pre-built sandwiches ranging from a BLT to a grilled cheese and even a hummus sandwich. Along with the sandwiches, you can create your own salad with a variety of greens, meats, veggies and dressings. All food items are $10 of less with most of the sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) being less than $7.00. In addition to the selection of food, they also got you covered if you happen to be thirsty! They are known for their coffee drinks which they have in hot or cold varieties, while also having hot teas too! If you are looking for something a little more exciting then you can grab a smoothie or one of their specialty chiller or latte drinks. And these flavors are special! They got lavender, Reeses (yes, Reeses!), Black Forest (cherry and chocolate), Caramel, Caribbean, Berry White and Honeybee. As mentioned above for the food, the prices are very reasonable and in some cases, quite cheap. Their hot coffee starts at $1.95 and goes up to $85 for a large latte, while their iced only comes in medium and large, starting at $2.75 and up to $4.85. Even their specialty drinks only range from $4.75 - $5.05. (These prices are as of 1/1/2021) Space wise, Café Lucia is on the smaller side, but has a decent dine in space for when we come out of this Covid era. They also have a couch situated in front of a TV for more informal coffee talks. Additionally, they have a lone high top inside and few tables outside along the side walk for those pretty GA days. Currently they have very limited inside seating and mainly operate as a to-go spot. Overall, my Iced White Mocha hit the spot and only cost me $5.00. The girl didn't even apologize and proceeded to give me my money back. I like this place, but the lack of urgency and customer service will keep me from coming back. The iced Thai tea latte was bomb! The breakfast sandwiches were good too and both are served on a butter croissant. Staff is friendly and service is fast. There are indoor and outdoor options for dining. They also have art for sale. Parking can be a bit of an issue but there is additional parking in the rear of the building. I was running errands in the area and needed a Java pick me up so I stopped in to Cafe Lucia. Like every place else in Smyrna there is a mask mandate and they have X's on the ground for social distancing measures. The cafe is located in busy Smyrna village. While there is parking all around there are also other eateries here and on a busy day parking may be a pain. It's a typical cafe with regular tables and chairs inside with about 4 tables out front of the cafe. It has a very laid back quiet vibe with pleasant music playing in the background. It was my first time here so I spent several minutes staring at the menu but the staff was very friendly, answered all my questions and even made some suggestions. Honey bee late with vanilla, cinnamon, hazelnut and almond milk it was heavenly. Hummus sandwich with roasted red pepper hummus, Goat cheese, lettuce and fresh tomatoes on flat bread.
