Hi! A friendly tip, if you serve food and it's requested to reheat it (after being served dry and cold) it would be a courtesy to accommodate for your guests. A waitress aggressively shoving reheated food across the table is certainly not appropriate nor appreciated, at minimum. The dark, long haired server who is insecure with her life should seek therapy before projecting her insecurities on her customers. I'm sorry that we anticipated service and that your establishment was not able to provide. There are far better establishments when it comes to mediocre dive bars, avoid at all costs. read more

I really appreciated the huge portion size on the salad. But 3/4ths of my way into the BBQ bacon cheeseburger I found a long hair in the sandwich. Very sad. Killed the vibe. I rang in the new year here last night and had a great time celebrating. There was no cover charge or line to get in unlike a lot of other bars on Belmont St. Chill vibe here and lots of laid back people dressed casually playing pool and drinking. There are some pinball (?) machines as well and some other games in the bar beside pool. There was a good drink selection and everyone counted down to the new year! I've been to Belmont's a handful of times over the years and it's become a traditional stop on any visit to Portland. It's part dive bar, part sports bar, part local joint - and that's what makes it so charming. The drinks are strong, there's pinball and pool, and plenty of games playing on the TVs if you just want to zone out or be distracted. It's a great place to go solo, as there's always a seat at the bar and the servers are friendly (and make a mean cocktail). Belmont's ain't fancy, but it has the makings of a friendly, unapologetic neighborhood pub and I always look forward to stopping in. read more

This place is okay. The issue I have is they threw away my full beer when I went to the bathroom for five minutes. Bar tender dude was unapologetic about it, and didn't offer me another. Wow, never going there again. I'm in the service industry and sometimes want to sit at a bar and get poured a drink. This bartender ignored me sitting at the bar. I first thought it was because he was busy and I waited patiently for him to come and ask what I wanted to drink. (You know, bartender stuff). He served a few people that came up to the spot that you order from if you're sitting at a table but it became very clear that he wasn't going to come to me to take my drink order (again, I was sitting at the bar) when he pulled out his phone and hunched over by the register. So I got up, walked the 2 ft to him and ordered my beer. There were two people, including myself sitting at the bar and maybe a dozen people in the whole bar. The beer was a flowing, the service was nice, and we all had a great time. Sure, it's a dive but it adds to the charm. They offer your typical pub grub, burgers, fries, sandwiches...you get the idea. While the food may be on the greasy side, this place get's 4 stars in my book for having Firestone Union Jack IPA on tap- my favorite! Yup - it's a dive. In fact, it's SUCH a dive that it still smells of stale smoke. Surprising ...and kind of gross. However, the beers were cheap. The appetizers were fried, and I love me some fried...anything. Also, their veggie burgers weren't too bad honestly. I'd like to say any place that serves tater tots, jalapeno mozzarella sticks, and poppers can't be all that bad. But the smell of the old smoke is pretty bad. Yucky actually. Plus, they leave the back door open, while people are apparently smoking outside and I think the smoke by osmosis rushes back into the bar as quickly as they exhale. Aside from the fact that there's no table service, I'd say that this was a pretty generic experience. And I'll correct myself - there wasn't a waitress, but there was slow table service from a distracted bartender. Reflections on meals - my hamburger was a thin hard patty but the flavor of the burger itself was decent. The dozen-or-so tater tots that came with the burger we're slightly over fried, there could have been been three times as many more. Chicken strips guy thought his meal was just okay. Quesadilla guy enjoyed his quesadilla but said that it was lacking substance. Decent meal for what it was but no rush to come back here. read more

Good prices, strong drinks. What more do you want in a dive bar? I had their food years ago and it was pretty much what you'd expect for a bar menu. They had a decent selection of beers and the crowd was pretty young. They have apparently redone a lot of the inside which feels like it maximizes space a bit more than it used to. I think there were 3 pool tables and several pin ball machines. I like that even though it was packed, they still have plenty of seating for a lot of people. The only major reason for losing a star was the service, while friendly, was pretty slow. I wouldn't call them slammed for a Saturday night, but there were 4 people working behind the bar, yet there was a line of around 4 people... there shouldn't be a line with that many people working all at once. They also weren't encouraging the line to break up or paying attention to who was next, so I noticed that someone came in after the line formed and was served at a break in the bar before the line was. Oh well! But all in all, a great watering hole that's close to a lot of other places in the Belmont neighborhood. read more

She seemed just didn't care with my existence at the bar. I ordered the Cranberry Vodka because they have a $2 Wells special and it was THE STRONGEST Vodka Cran I ever had in my life. If the Inn on Belmont were a Super Bowl halftime performance, it would be the Black Eyed Peas and all trillion of their stupid LED lights - annoying, hard to ignore, and derivative of its more talented (bar) predecessors. But it could be worse. You probably won't contract herpes from the bathrooms at Belmont Inn, though I can't really promise that because I am not a medical professional. They serve food, albeit kind of begrudgingly. You have to order food at the bar, and although they'll bring it to your table, they don't like to take additional food orders while they're there. And the dipping sauces come in plastic containers, probably because the dipping sauces are older than Fergie's face. Bad service defended by more than 1 worker with excuses that you should expect bad service because of a pattern of bad service be damned in this town. Good dive bars do not equal shitty ass service or getting reflected upon of personal problems towards other customers. Seriously this is a well paid service industry town with 10 others to replace the shitty servicer (and I do not believe in abusing this by owners of restaurants/bars either but geez). This place is dirty, dive-y and reflected of so by the other dive-y desirous souls who seek the same. Hard to find a good dive in this area honestly, but they are around for other choice diving pleasure (read Triple Nickle/ Watertrough/ Ladds Inn/ Mt Tabor/ Space Room to read a few). This place is known for cooler-then-thou attitude of bartenders who will if they choose you just hang and talk around you while you are ignored for your drink. Just remember great pool gaming to be had here for sure. Great cheap beers to be enjoyed ($2.25 Ninkasi brew!) and expect service to leave you thinking that the bartenders job is more difficult and somehow more deserving of shit-giving-to-customers then your own job. That's right take it, love it, and still leave a tip! If: you are a sadist. If: You want a great burger this is a place for one of those. Grrr... it IS tough to find a good burger. If: You want bad service from people that don't care about service or really even have any pride in the business... well, this is your place. For staff with a history of badditude service (see other reviews), you could go for the experience and YELP away about yours. Or you could just skip the abuse. Damn. I would say this place thinks it's a little cooler than it is. It's got the pool tables, and lots of TVs, and I think there's a jukebox. But it's a neighborhood bar that's overreached itself. I sat at the (small) bar and waited too long to order my drink, and then for the bartender to come around so I could order my food. It strikes me as a place that's set it self up as (or has become) an attraction for people who don't want to go downtown. I come here to play pinball. Belmont inn is conveniently located close to my house. This is what i make of this establishment: A lively group of people from Gresham, Notorious BIG on the juke at least twice in an hour, the food smells good, I have tried the cheese sticks and I liked them. When I play pinball I need some room. I take a certain stance when I play. My leg goes way out don't ask me why but it works. The patio door is right next to Mars Attacks, which intern causes me to move every time somebody goes in or out. Its not easy playing on the move. I found out the hard way when a woman flew half way across the room tripping over my leg. Don't worry she was ok. People say this is a dive bar, but I wouldn't even call it that. In my mind, dive bars have a certain charm to their slightly dumpy atmosphere. This place is very neutral with little personality. They have a limited and expected pub food menu and a bunch of beers on tap. Food is cheap and plentiful but not terribly tasty, and it comes out of the kitchen one plate at a time, sometimes with a ten minute wait and sometimes with a 45 minute wait. Disregard my review if you love greasy food and hanging around a dirty bar full of 90% men, mostly over 40. The place is ugly and looks dirty and even FEELS dirty. There is that film of grease that has been soaked up by the dust over the years. When you leave, you will also have that film on your face (minus the dust). Your stomach will hurt cause the food is gross and greasy and you ate way too much cause that is what they gave you. Places that screw up a grilled cheese are no good in my book. It was soooooo greasy and pretty tasteless considering. The tater tots were also too greasy. The fries were just OK. The Belmont Dip was also just OK. If the food was somewhere else, I could maybe deal with it, but between that and the horrible atmosphere, I will definitely not be back. Ever. So on a night of Bachelorette party hijinks, our drinking Bingo game led us to the door. The guy at the door was cool and I think that was about it. We got a table next to some fishy smelling guy and set about to order the Bride-to-be a drink. This is where awkward takes freaking nose dive south. What the hell is with the random 4 dolls haphazardly stuck to the ceiling?! Avoiding eye contact with the freaky brides of Chucky, we assessed the menu. Meh.. At least there was a selection. It wasn't hard to miss how Mr. Bartender started bitching about "drunkards" after we couldn't tell him how to make an Alabama Slammer. And after he did a little Google action, we got the drink (as a shot) that would make Robitussin taste divine. Just went in today and based on the poor reviews, I'd say this place has either vastly improved or the negative reviews are from people who wouldn't be happy no matter what. Atmosphere is great, pool tables and pinball. Tables (order at the bar) and bar seating. Great music that's not so loud that you can't hear the people you're with. I got their standard cheeseburger with swiss and tater tots (included) to go and had a beer while I waited. The burger was really well priced (especially for the area) and beer on par. The food came out so fast I still had at least half my beer and the bartender and staff that served my food were very courteous. I will note, it wasn't slammed but the bar seating was full and there were a few tables taken. Got home and the burger was HUGE, and easily one of the BEST I've had in a long time! Tots were great, came with a side of ketchup (even though I didn't ask for it) and there was more than I could eat so my pups got a couple of treats each with their dinner. I will 100% be going back very soon! The only thing that would've made the meal better would've been fry sauce with the tots. read more
