TPK Brewing is a super fun brewery that Steve and I have enjoyed twice now. There is a lot to love for me with this brewery. The fantasy and the Dungeons & Dragons themes are really fun and totally calls to me. So therefore with our first experience here I stocked up on a lot of swag- shirts! My first beer with this brewery was a Red Ale or Amber Ale, The Lady of Embers. This was a very enjoyable first time beer with this brewery. Flavor features in this beer are Caramel, a roastiness, maltiness, biscuity and a dry finish. It proved to be a fun beer to try out for the first time and we were eager to come back and try more of their beers. A bit of time passed and we were able to do that. This time we got three different beers of different types to give us a well rounded experience with their beers. Cascade Falls was the first beer on the second experience that we delved into. This beer is a Cream Ale and I haven't had one in a while so I was quite eager to get a hold of another one again. This particular Cream Ale had peaches and vanilla as the primary flavors and they were pretty good. It was sweet but not heavy handed which made this beer pleasant. This beer was a collaboration beer with another brewery, Thunder Island Brewing Company. After that I moved into dark beer territory and got a stout by the name of The Ashbringer. This one I rated very highly on Untappd because I enjoyed the flavor profile so very much! This stout has flavor highlights of roastiness, a spiced presence, coffee, chocolate and some clove. It was a really well made stout...well balanced and one I really got into. I believe actually this was my favorite beer out of the several I have tried. The last beer was a Marzen beer, a type that isn't too terribly common but always a good one when I can get a hold of it. The name of this beer was the Hasta La Raiz. This is a nice light bodied beer that has maltiness, roastiness, some fruitiness and a bit of a floral presence. It was a fun one to try out for sure. TPK Brewing also serves food and it's quite good! We grazed off of several different appetizers here that we really enjoyed. The first one was the Yuca Frita which was Yucca cut into big, thick French Fries sort cuts and we dipped it into a green sauce as well as a pico de gallo type of dip which enhanced the experience. In addition to that we got a beef empanada that Steve and I split along with the same sauces...also excellent and then to round out our snacking here we got the Arepitas De Queso which is a white masa cake mixed with cheese and then deep fried. It also had the same sauces as the previous two appetizers but we were fine with that... we were all about it and deep into it. Warm, welcoming, nerdy, and friendly atmosphere. Did I mention nerdy? This is almost just as much of a D&D shop as it is a brewery! If you are not playing Magic the Gathering or D&D, you will feel like the 'weird one'! Beers are good, with a couple lagers, a stout, and some IPA's. The food is surprising! You'd think they'd phone-it-in, but there's a great selection of Latin food. Everything from Cubanos to bowls to burritos. read more

This place is more unique than even I could imagine... so definitely experience it firsthand. There is a vending machine with unique items near the entrance. I didn't try any of the food but it looked delicious. Had one of the ipas on tap and it was spot on. The server was kind of enough to let me try some samples before I decided. It's a chill spot with downstairs and upstairs options for seating. The ads around the place seemed to indicate that they have live entertainment from time to time. We stopped into TPK after an event downtown. We came across it through Yelp looking for an open place to grab a cold draft. Felt really lucky to find this place. The bar tender was very cool and friendly. Explained the background of the place and gave tastes to my wife of several taps before she picked one. The beer was cold and fresh and well carbonated. I.E. NOT disappointingly flat. The atmosphere is good. Good music's. Clean. Small but open to the street. It's a mixed neighborhood. Some sketchy characters about, it is a city after all. But the place itself is good and fun. We had a couple of beers and moved on. But I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the area. read more

If you're looking for a place to relax after a hard day of adventuring and killing Goblins, this is the spot. Gather around to share tales of glory and raise a glass to fallen comrades. Absolute gem of a spot hidden away here in Portland. Whether you're in to DnD, tabletop games, or deep in some sort of LARP, this is a great spot. (They even do hosted DnD games on the 2nd floor). The food was deeeelicious and right on point. Several tasty looking beers on tap (and a noice selection of alcohol-free beers, too!) Come on the right day you might even hear a tune or two. It does get a bit crowded so keep that in mind. Reasonably accessible for wheelchairs on the main level, though when crowded it can be tricksy. Bathroom checks out. (Curious about the accessible bathroom on the 2nd floor though, given that the floor itself doesn't seem accessible.) read more

Incredible atmosphere, outstanding drinks and food, and great everything else you could want. Recommend big time.

I was checking out the Hawthorne neighborhood and decided to swing by TPK for a drink. Overall, I'd say the brewery is fitting to the neighborhood. Not a lot of stuff on tap (perhaps 9), and only a couple beers were IPAs. The establishment itself seems rather small, but there are rooms in the back -- it has a slight D&D theme, and it apparently hosts board game nights for locals. The bartender was very nice and friendly, extremely knowledgable. Given all the amazing breweries in the area, I can't say this was my absolute favorite -- but it's worth a visit if in the neighborhood. read more

I gave it a 3 star not because it was bad. But because it just wasn't our vibe. Kind of small with tables close together. I was in the mood for a glass of wine but they had run out. Eclectic and sensitive is how I describe TPK . Beautiful wooden tables under woodcrafted arches overhead create a warm and inviting experience . Food menu is Cuban , I believe . Great Cubo sando. If you're a fan of tabletop RPG (role-playing games), this is the place for you. They have a variety of those types of games available to play and they regularly have scheduled games you have to register for ahead of time; follow them on Instagram for details & updates. The interior decor has a coffee shop in the LOTR universe vibe (Lord of the Rings); not a darkened pub but more on the brighter side so folks can see & read the games they're playing. I'd love to see them lean in more with the theme for the decor, though. They have a good variety of their own beers on tap, along with some other options, include non-alcoholic. We had a couple of pints of their stout, which was quite good. There's another place that runs their kitchen, so they have food, too. It would be cool if the food was themed as well, but alas, it's not as of this writing. They also have a really neat looking, very old brick oven, which would be ideal for pizza, but as far as I could tell they don't currently offer pizza and I'm not sure the brick oven is used for anything (yet). Excellent, cozy brewpub. My friends and I were visiting from out of state and remarked on how this would be the place we would hang out at if we lived in Portland. Where to start with this review... From the beer (solid) to the food (solid) to the artwork/decor (solid) to the ambiance (solid) to the staff (solid), we were impressed. We enjoyed the sweet yet textured maduros. Loved the two contrasting sauces all the food came with - a sweet creamy vegetal green sauce and a spicy zinger of a red salsa. We got the Cubano as well as the Tampa Style Cubano - both unctuous and toasty. We also got arepitas de queso, which are like a cheese-filled awesome tater tot with a more smooth texture inside but more crunchy outside. Lastly, we also got the Colombian-style potato salad, which is creamy like a classic American potato salad, but fresher; taters were more firm or there was something crispy in there like apples or jicama. Everything we ate was delicious and worth the price. Overall, we appreciated the attention and care put into everything. Like the beer (and their beautiful tap handles), the tree-slab tables, vending machine of cool things, and curated events. Highly recommend a stop to visitors and envy the locals that can frequent this lovely establishment. read more

Just visited TPK for the first time and it was a fantastic experience. Had a great burger and fries and some fabulous beer. The vibe of the bar alone would make me want to come back. But the best part was that a group of us signed up for a one-shot campaign. The GM, Sage, did an amazing job speaking to the various experience levels of our group and we all had an amazing time. One can't rate on potential, but i will be coming back here once they get their food going. big old wood fired oven (from previous tenant Tabor Bread) could be tasty. maybe, given the theme of the place, a nice roasted boar. Complete beginners to d&d and we had such a great time doing a beginners campaign with Law. Very straightforward instructions and engaging storytelling.
