On April 23, 2026, we made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to my dearest Cookie, my beloved 13-year-old cat, through euthanasia. Around noon, a gentle and kind doctor came to our home. I don't know why, but in Dr. Lew's compassionate and understanding eyes, I somehow felt that Cookie would be in good hands. I held my Cookie in my arms. When it was time to say goodbye to our beloved cat of over 11 years, Dr. Lew was the perfect fit for our family's needs. Our cat started to decline pretty quickly, and my daughter who lives in SCAL wanted to come home to say goodbye, but could only stay for 24 hours to do so. This is my first time using in-home euthanasia. Dr. Lew was extremely quick to respond to emails, texts, and calls. She provided a call to go over an assessment of my cat's situation and also thoroughly explained the process of what to expect. I loved how transparent she was about each step. I also really appreciated that she held hope for the possibility that Latte could pull through with his medications and offered to reschedule/cancel if needed. Unfortunately, death had its own plans, and it was just unavoidable. We scheduled an appt rather quick which was extremely helpful considering how sickness and death just comes so abruptly, especially with cats. During Latte's final hours, it was clear that he was struggling to hold on for a couple more hours. I reached out to Dr. Lew who so very kindly made an accommodation to arrive a little earlier as soon as she could. Dr. Lew's gentle approach, unconditional compassion, emotional support, allowing all the space for grieving, and working at your pace made the process MUCH less traumatizing. Her voice is also super soothing! While grief will naturally follow, I can vouch that having the opportunity and privilege to do an in-home euthanasia made the transition a lot easier to handle. Dr. Lew provided ink prints for paws and nose, clay paw print, but my favorite thing in the world were the fur clippings. There was also an option for a private cremation and to upgrade to the urn of your choice if you wanted, which she provided directions for. Thank you to Dr. Lew forever for this ethical service and for holding such a safe space during a delicate time. I cannot thank you enough for making the final moment as peaceful as possible, for both Latte and me.
