Since Tiburon is home to a ferry station and two sailing clubs, you can see ferries motoring to San Francisco and Angel Island leaving rippling waves behind them and sailboats gliding along the water. The park and the walking path stretches from Main Street Tiburon to Elephant Rock. The Railroad & Ferry Depot museum is halfway between. The walking path is all cement; smooth and flat. There are no public restrooms along path. The museum has limited hours and admission is $5. But it is a worthwhile stop since they have historical information boards outside the building. The board details the rich history of the building and area. There is no parking along the park. The closest parking is the day use parking lot off Paradise Drive opposite Main Street.

There is a small museum here also, but it closes early. It's also a good place to walk off the dinner from some of the nearby restaurants. We didn't feel like walking a lot since the weather was warm, so we happily found 2 Adirondack chairs in the shade at the park. The views of the Bay were gorgeous and it was the perfect spot to read our books. There was plenty of space for neighboring groups to spread out, so we liked the chill, non touristy, and quiet environment. We are already planning to picnic there with a friend and her little one.

I had to go back out and get a 2nd look from a distance because I think I missed it the first time. A cool little sight while walking along the water in Tiburon. Angel Island looms large here with it being so close, but you also get views of San Francisco. The pier is really short and small, looks more like it's for tourists and locals than fishermen. Which I really think it's for anyway. But it's definitely unique, whoever thought of this, that was a great idea!!

Wished I would have brought my bike.. next time. Hut fyi... You can rent bikes on the island. We walked the paved path around the island... it was great (but HOT - August) took us about a little over two hours, this included reading the signs and taking pictures. A pot of great history there. After getting out of the ferry, there was a line where we were be driven in trams to the observation area. Because we had brought a cart, one of the park employees brought it up on a van instead. The island is beautiful, historical, clean and makes me want to visit again. Once we were in the area, it provided a view of the fireworks in Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge and the random areas within the city with fireworks. Although the colorful fog was more visible than the fireworks itself, just the experience of celebrating Independence Day as well as a birthday was worth it. We had a chance to watch and listen to a canon get fired, we got free neon lights, watched civil war soldiers, listened to the star spangled banner played by a small band. There was a small concession stand that sold sodas, coffee, hotdogs, cake, wine and brownies. Overall a fun experience, I would come back to explore the other parts of the island.

Not condescending or chatty as his focus was on the rods with 10 people on the boat. Captain was also fishing but not for himself, handed over the rod to a guest who hasn't landed a fish. Appreciate the attempt at a less crowded spot, didn't work out and went back to where the party boats were. I believe we would have gotten our boats limit, but there were a few kids enjoying the experience and were not paying too much attention to their poles, but that's OK. Few missed opportunities, but that's fishing. I know numbers can impact the reputation of the boat without really knowing the context. I will look exclusively to make a trip with Diamond or Lady K. Other boats that I have been on had arrogant deck hands and not so friendly captains.

We…read moregathered at the dock super early and although we thought it was early, Captain Kyle was up and at'm ready to fish! He said we were in for an adventure. The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

Our club went out yesterday Monday for salmon. Recreational salmon fishing opened the first time…read morein three years. A total of ten were caught. The captain and crew of two were on it. Anytime a salmon was hooked the crew was diligent in the attempt to keep it on the line and to bring it in. 80% success rate. It was a full day. The Outer Limits left at 5am returning at 4pm. Docked at Sausalito boat harbor. We drove over from the City. Most parking spots were already occupied when we arrived at 4:30am. Of course my salmon got away. But I took home a blue rock cod.

The membership has started getting younger due to an influx of SF residents up north, which will be great for the overall atmosphere! The Membership Committee is very welcoming, which is not the typical experience at a private club of this level. You don't need a boat to join, and there's no need: you will be readily invited on all types of sailing and yachting adventures with other members who do have one. They've done some recent renovations and harbor improvements which really add to the elegance of the historic neoclassical building. It's both nestled in bustling downtown and also serene enough for dolphin watching on quiet afternoons.
