Like many of the reviewers, I'm a fan. We first moved to State Farm when Ben was in Emeryville and our previous insurer/agent (rhymes with "Tall Gate") really let down another friend by denying an otherwise very legitimate claim. When we first met with Ben, even he was appalled by the story of the above and he explained how SF might've handled a similar case and we talked about how to get my own coverage so that -- well -- I'm actually covered. What started as a relationship centered around condo- insurance (on a condo in Emeryville) extended to -- eventually -- car insurance, motorcycle insurance, homeowners insurance and life insurance when we moved to Concord (at the same time they moved to Walnut Creek). I trust Ben (and Charisma) and really appreciate that I have someone on the other end who can pick up the phone or answer my emails (they're /very/ good with email correspondence). The one claim I've had was handled without a hiccup. The payout was prompt, hassle-free and further confidence instilling. So, if you like dealing with folks who's hand you can shake (as opposed to someone in a different time-zone), speak to Ben and Charisma. I have been a State Farm policy holder for ten years. Originally I started with another agent (my landlord at the time) whose daughter did her admin work, and provided PLENTY of bad attitude. I ended up switching to Ben, and noticed an immediate difference. Ben really took his time with us, identifying our needs, making coverage suggestions, and even helped us with some minor financial planning. I never felt pressured or rushed, and always walked away feeling confident about policy changes\additions, etc.. Charisma is AWESOME, she is always very helpful, and she is on top of things. She really seems to put considerable effort into supporting the policy holder. She is genuine, and incredibly helpful. My previous agent didn't put any effort into her customer service, nor did she evaluate our needs. The relationship was barely professional. Ben is GREAT agent! He knows his stuff, is super helpful, and talks to you like a normal human being! I had to get a renters policy for my CA address while I was here for a few months on business and I had used this office on another similar stint about six years ago. Both times I have been really pleased. I've got several State Farm polices back in my home state and it wasn't as simple as it sounds. My policy is under Mark Samrick, but I believe that the service of the entire office is reflective of the integrity and business of everyone at their office. I moved to California 4 years ago. We made a few moves, got married, changed our name, and had a claim. I cannot imagine anyone making all of these things any easier than the Samrick team! I always know that a call afterhours will result in a return call the next morning with accurate and helpful info. I was with State Farm for over 15 years and then Ben, the son of the agent I was initially with, took over and it went downhill from there. Ben is not even close to his father in terms of skills with respect to working with clients, managing their needs and advising them. He appears to be of that generation that's thinking they can do no work and still get paid well. As another reviewer wrote, he NEVER replies or calls in person but instead has the gals in his office do his work. I left State Farm and just recently wanted to see where they are with car insurance compared to my current carrier: Charisma actually did quite the bait and switch tactic by sending me a super low quote and then said it was a mistake, that they couldn't insure me for that price. There might be other State Farm offices that are better but I wouldn't recommend Ben at all unless you are completely sure you won't need any guidance, you won't need advice of any sort, you won't need help or to have your account managed by someone that supposedly knows what they are doing (not sure he does as I said, he never communicates at all). Then again, if you don't need help, probably best to not pay a premium for State Farm when this particular office's service is pretty awful. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. Agent is lazy and non responsive. I have been with State Farm for 10 years and have never encountered an employee of this caliper. They refused to look up my policy information or the contact information for my prior agent. I provided ALL my information 3 times and they were unable to put together a quote for me. Ben is amazing to work with! I moved to California about 2 years ago from Texas and immediately got set up with auto and renters insurance. He got me the lowest rates over all the other competitors and quickly put my policies into place so I would have no lapses between coverage. I just relocated back to Texas and once again Ben and his team came to the rescue. They found another agent for me out here in no time and now I have another agent taking care of me out here.
