I had my surgery Jan 7th - surgery started at 6:36am and I was discharged at 8:40! Within 3 days I was walking on my own! I had almost no pain, bruising or swelling - and needed NO narcotics! His team at Total Joint Specialists was incredible...super friendly and patient focused! My recovery has gone incredibly well..in fact I was out to lunch 4 days after surgery! The pain was so severe that I could not stand up straight and I could barely walk. After about 3 weeks of intensive physical therapy I was once again pain free. I was expecting bad news, but he informed me that it was something called "frozen shoulder" which is not uncommon for diabetics, and recommended a path of PT rather than surgery. After 8 weeks, my shoulder is showing better range of motion and strength. I stopped in today and Dr. Ansari told me that if I continue to do some of the exercises at home and in the gym, I could likely be pain free in a few months. Dr. Ansari and the staff here are fantastic. Dr. Ansari is professional, knowledgeable, and also takes the time to be sure that everything is explained thoroughly so that there is no confusion. I highly recommend Dr. Ansari if you are having issues. What I expected to be a huge problem and most likely surgery was the answer...ended up being something I could address with minimal effort (outside of PT) and cost. I called to schedule an appointment because I was experiencing both knee and shoulder pain. I…read morespecifically requested to see a doctor who could evaluate both conditions. I was scheduled with Dr. Yarbrough. After doing some research, I discovered that Dr. Yarbrough does not specialize in shoulder conditions. Concerned about this, I called the scheduling department three separate times and spoke with three different representatives. Each one assured me that Dr. Yarbrough could evaluate both my knee and shoulder and advised me to bring my previous shoulder MRI if I had it. During each call, I specifically requested an appointment with Dr. Ansari, who specializes in both areas. Despite my repeated requests, I was continually told to keep my appointment with Dr. Yarbrough. The first thing Dr. Yarbrough told me when he entered the exam room was that he would need to refer me to his colleague, Dr. Ansari, for my shoulder because he was not the appropriate specialist. He also ordered a new MRI. He never reviewed the MRI images that I had brought with me, despite the scheduling staff specifically instructing me to bring them. I was also required to have X-rays taken of both my knee and shoulder, even though my concern was not a bone injury. This added additional costs without addressing the reason for my visit. After the appointment, I spoke with the front desk and explained what had happened. I was told there was nothing they could do and that I should speak with the scheduling manager. I called scheduling, requested the manager, and was told she also could not help me and that I needed to speak with the billing department. I was transferred to a billing representative named Cindy, who listened to my concerns and then said she needed to consult with her manager. When I asked to speak directly with the manager, I was told that wasn't possible, that a message would be left, and that someone would contact me later. This entire experience was extremely frustrating. I made every effort to avoid being scheduled with the wrong provider by calling three separate times and clearly explaining my concerns. Despite repeated assurances, I was scheduled with a physician who immediately acknowledged he was not the appropriate specialist and referred me elsewhere. As a result, I was charged for a visit that could have been avoided, and now I have to schedule another appointment. It felt like an unnecessary referral process that resulted in additional charges and delays in receiving the care I originally requested.

A truly bizarre experience. Apparently William thought I was not disinterested in Physical Therapy, what I was disinterested in was being sold a book why I was paying for a Physical Therapy session. HOWEVER, despite my initial experience, I did schedule another appointment and Clay was my physical therapist ( I would give Clay 5 Stars). Clay is an excellent therapist and made a significant impact in restoring movement and reducing my knee pain. He was patient focused and patient throughout the session. I would encourage all deciding on Benchmark Physical Therapy in Gainesville to request Clay for your therapist.

Just completed hospice care for my father who was in assisted living in Lumpkin County. The…read moreCaritas team was phenomenal in caring for him, answering the many questions of us the family, and reaching out to the family with education and heart care. All of the staff we encountered were professional, very caring, and had many years of medical experience from varied medical disciplines. They were amazingly accessible and encouraged us to call any time day or night when we had questions, and they moved very quickly to meet my father's needs as those needs changed. They cooridinated care with the assisted living which was very helpful. My father bounced back well under their care (with their staff generaly seeing him in person 5 days a week) and it alleviated a lot of care-giving by us the family. When a new medical event occurred for my father, they sprang into action to provide comfort care and prepare us for his final days and hours. Very thankful for all their care of us in the challenging season. It provided for his passing in the environment he wanted (not in a hospital) that far exceeded what we could have done on our own.
