I had an amazing experience at Benchmark Transitions. Not only was I very informed about my disease but I felt cared for by staff. Treatment is either happening FOR you or TO you. You can take your pick. You'll truly only ever get out of it what you put in. I am 4 months sober today with the help of all of the friends and mentors I got the privilege to build connections with through my time in treatment. If you absolutely want this for yourself, you have to work for it and stay connected. Not only did Benchmark guide me through my most devastating point in life, but through their Alumni Program, I've found so much strength and hope by remembering where I came from and staying in the middle of the pack of likeminded addicts and alcoholics who only strive for a better life for themselves and to help others along the way. Also, they are pet friendly! I could not have gone through this with my road dog. I attended this facility a while back and I must say the reviews are correct. This staff just wants to profit off you there's never going to be more than 5 people at a time because most leave early due to the fact that your main responsibility is to clean up horse poo and deep clean the house, other than that you literally attend classes all day which are repetitive and dull. The only thing you can do after you finish chores and class is watch Netflix, no music, no phones to contact family, and you're only allowed to eat during the scheduled times you're not allowed to eat anything past that or you'll get in trouble. There are way better rehabs like "Betty ford" or "Laguna treatment center" I recommend that would give you better odds of rehabilitation. As a former student/ patient i couldnt recommend this place. This place was the most destructive program ive ever been to. When i was there the consequences for anything were weekends of "work ethic" which was usually "turning dirt" aka digging holes outside in the desert heat for the entire weekend. The owners have no credentials other than their experience. The students made my physical safty an issue so staff moved me off campus and out of all classes (why not send me home? ) then told my mother to help get me an apartment and send my car down. I get my apartment and my sister drove my car down and then benchmark tells me i can't move in or get my car till i complete all the classes they pulled me out of...... ? To top that off they put you on all sorts of medications without anything more than a therapy session. No evaluations or anything. Save your money. There are wayyyyy better alternatives out there. This place turned difficult people into drug addicts. Most of my fellow students came in smoking nothing more than pot and left smoking meth. Lots of former students have died from overdoses. Oh and because i was so difficult im on the bad list lol....a list of names in the "big room" of people too bad to get help there. read more

This place is ran like a business, not a treatment center. I could write pages on pages of how terrible this business is and corrupt it is. All the clients walk around miserable. The male staff were creepy, and most staff treated their patients with NO respect. Thankfully, two of the staff got fired for claims made against them by male and female clients there. Some staff even seem as unstable as the clients there. One incident, a staff violated my right as a patient and broke HIPAA law, sharing private information with other clients, which they swept under the rug quick. They manipulate patients and the parents on patients, depicting the patients as not credible. My case manager Jenny M, laughed about me sharing something I was trying to process in a group, rolling on the floor and laughing, she would call me names in the halls, in-front of other clients. Many people get left on the street, and no help after leaving the program. I have gone to the higher ups while being there for some kind of support with my issues and the management there, it turned into them against me. They use your mental health issues as a weapon, invalidated any complaints you have. I had better hopes for Benchmark as they recently went under new management, but it's just gotten worst, over half the clientele has relapsed. They don't give off the impression that they care about their patients. Don't send your child here please, and don't support this business. This is a toxic environment! This is such an amazing facility. My brother participated in a program here and it truly turned his life around.

Don't bother with this sorry excuse of a rehab. Was lied to about this place over the phone and when I came in there wasn't even a doctor/counselor on board, all there was to the program was a few hours of pointless "therapy groups" where the clients and staff just talked about whatever they wanted and once in a while did useless worksheets printed off the internet. Insurance is paying thousands of dollars a day but they can't even provide clean drinking water at the facility let alone lunch or or snacks. Communication is almost nonexistent between the higher ups and staff (who most of them have no credentials whatsoever including owner and case managers) and they broke patient confidentiality as well. They couldn't give half a crap about the well-being of the clients and their mental health, this is just another scam rehab looking to profit off of people's struggles. Literally nothing on the website is true. Checked out after a week and when I left I was missing a bunch of personal possessions including money and prescriptions and other expensive items which they "lost" or they couldn't go to the trouble of returning. Most unprofessional corrupt place I've ever seen, I left worse off than I when I came. Massive waste of time and money, if you're looking for help, look elsewhere cuz this ain't it. The staff at Benchmark are all the most caring and dedicated professionals I have ever met! They genuinely care about the wellness journey of these young men, and it shows! From contacting us in the middle of the night, to texting photos of our son on outings, or answering our calls, texts and emails right away. We have been so pleasantly surprised at how quickly they have responded to us, as parents. They really believe in the family model of treatment and it shows. We were in crisis with our son and didn't know where to turn next. I believe that they saved our son's life and helped him to get on the road to recovery. It's a long road but this long term model is brilliant. Other programs that are 30, 60, or 90 days just don't work long term. I so appreciate that Benchmark developed this program for young men, while so many other programs stop at 18. Most mental health crises appear around age 17-25. The program has a very positive and supportive approach behaviorally while still teaching and holding these young men accountable in the journey to adulting. We are so thankful for Benchmark and just can't say enough great things about it. I highly recommend it to any young man and his family who need help with addiction and/or mental health challenges. read more

I went to benchmark when I was 18 and fresh out of a all girl Christian boarding school and sober for 2 years, not even a week later I felt like time girl I was before I was even sent away the first time . This place is extremely toxic! The staff are almost as bad as the clients which was sad and very unfortunate . Little to non supervisors my whole stay there . Very lazy staff . Just had a very bad time there and almost everyone I was there with isn't sober or doing well . I really don't recommend this place . read more

I wanted to mention that my learned and developed a huffing habit here. Also, credit card was charged 6 months after my son was dumped on the street by this place. (Literally)As a person with vast experience in law enforcement I was extremely concerned. When I called the finance they stated somehow my credit card info got into another clients file. As of this writing, our son has been at Benchmark for 9 months. The person who entered the doors 9 months ago is not the same person we see and speak to today. Where our family has been and where we are today is light years away. When we found Benchmark, our son was in a psychiatric hospital for the 3rd time in 2 years. We were desperate to find a facility that would be able to work with the layers of issues he was dealing with. From the first phone call with Samantha, to the hand holding by Shelley (and, believe me, we needed hand holding), to the love and understanding that was given to our son and us, by every person we came into contact with, this experience has been life changing. The road has not been smooth and easy, that is for sure. After some kicking and screaming from our son, something clicked. The person in need of help has to want it and has to be willing to put in the work. Thank goodness our son wanted it. And- we hung in there as well. The road is not always easy but the results are well worth it. His team, namely, Larry and John, have been outstanding. I feel like "we" were a team working together for the benefit of our son. They were always available to speak and the conference calls (sometimes with our son) were most beneficial. They are caring and supportive and the relationship they have built with our son is outstanding. With the team's help, he is working, going to school, dealing and coping with everyday issues and is happy. No one can predict the future; however, things are looking quite optimistic for a bright future. He'll be coming home in a few months and we feel he's been given the opportunity to develop the skills to continue on in life and have a bright future ahead. Thank you, Benchmark. read more

Benchmark is truly a lifesaver for young adults. The groups are run by experienced staff who can understand and relate to what the clients are going through. They provide guidance and set you up with tools and resources to get your life back on track. Kathy is a fantastic case manger who has dedicated her life to helping people succeed and is living proof of how people can change their behaviors. Tessa was the most supportive and caring therapist who validates and provides real answers you need to hear. Melissa was a nurse, and even she provided lots of great advice. The staff goes out of their way and have truly committed their life's to this profession and can help you get your life back on track. The houses provided while in treatment are extremely nice and create a safe environment. Do not hesitate to attend benchmark if you are considering changing your life for the best! read more

They do alright for people here for CD but as a person who went here for behavioral, it is a no. Please look for another place if your kid ( or if you're voluntarily going, which I did. Yes, myself.) is going through something that ISN'T chemical dependency. Some staff here go above and beyond but as a whole unit, they need to reestablish their rules, teamwork, cooperation, and their system. read more

Great program, compassionate staff, well organized treatment schedule and everything a young adult needs when in trouble with mental health and substance abuse issues. Our 25 year old son was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder after. his first year at a great university where he was a highly functioning honors student. He responded well to treatment over the years but kept going off his medication and required multiple hospitalizations. We are extremely happy to have discovered Benchmark, as it by far the best treatment program we have ever found. They are thorough, and really CARE about the young adults they work with. Our son felt that care, and responded well over time to the staff and structure of the program. It took time, as all mental health treatment does....but was well worth it the time and financial investment. Our son is now sober, on medication again, and is returning to university as a junior transfer student...he begins next week. I have been in benchmark for 9 months and they kept on telling me that i would be a graduate at the next graduation and then my primary case manager said i was pushed back until next month. Which is not a big deal but when it kept on happening they said that if you dont have a job you cant graduate but i thought that it was a treatment center not a job placement center. When I was asked to leave the premise i asked why they said i was suspended and i had 3 days to be homeless with no food or water until they said i can work my way back in which means another 3 days or more to do what they said and if they felt you werent ready to be let back in you were still back on the streets. This place is all about the money in my opinion because a true treatment center would not give up on a person and put someone on the streets where you can get seriously hurt or killed because heroin is a big drug on the streets there and if you came back dirty because they put you on the streets you would get in trouble. I feel bad for anyone that goes there because that place is a joke. Thats the reason i left that place due to being mistreated and they think that can talk down to you like they are better then the next person. when a person Steals from another person in the treatment center they just look the other way and just tell you that they will handle it when they just walk away and blame you for having it left out. read more
