My outside unit was making screeching loud noises. Shut off the unit in case the problem was electrical. The next morning BMS arrived, on time. They had my unit fixed quickly. It was a bad fan motor. Dimitri was very friendly and professional. He checked my inside unit to make sure things looked ok. Noticed my drain was clogged - so he took care of that too. I appreciate the extra help - as not many contractors would go that extra step. They would only do what was necessary. I'm in a 2 story condo, so there was a lot of running around, up and down, and in the heat. Never a complaint. I've used BMS before - and Brett and his wife Kathy are fabulous. UPDATE: Brett, the owner contacted me the next day and tried to work with me. He apologized for not contacting me promptly before and now trying to work with Trane System representative. He agreed that our system had 2 major break down and it was unacceptable but we would have to work with Trane. I personally don't think Trane will honor anything to help me but I appreciate Brett gave me a call. I paid premium to get Trane which is supposedly the best but ended up getting more repair costs than an old AC. I would work with Brett again but if you are looking for a new replacement, don't go with Trane because if you get a bad unit, you're on your own. ------------------- You might get SCAMMED! We decided to replace our old AC with Trane system with Bencraft after doing a lot of research and got bunch of quotes in October 2017. I thought by doing that we would save a lot of money fixing. Little did I know, the old AC system we never had to pay anything to fix but the new ones already broke down 3 times over the course of 3 years. Each time, it cost us about $1000 to fix even WITH WARRANTY. The part and the labor cost are so high that makes it ridiculous. We paid about $5k for the unit but almost $3k in repaid!!! The first time it broke down was in June 2019 for refrigerant and compressor replaced. The second time is ONLY 6 months later for new coil and refrigerant and evaporator. Now, I'm waiting for the AC guy to come fix it AGAIN the 3rd time in October 2020. How is this acceptable??? You would think with waranty it'll be cheap to fix and with a brand new unit, it'll be problem free. I multiple times brought this up and see if there is anything they can do for their probably SCAM unit, they kept saying they'd contact me but never did. Today, they again told me they would call me back but nope no phone call. Now 3rd time the charm, I'm upset beyond words. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY and Trane system if you are getting a new unit. read more

Ben and his wife were VERY professional and courteous. They were referred through AHS under my home warranty and while my issue ended up being minor, he educated me about my potential AC needs for the future. He suggested some products and gave a very comprehensive presentation of the pros and cons of all. Best of all, he told me that I really don't need an AC right away and even figured out a way to save me some money on expensive electrical work when I do. All in all, he is def knowledgeable in his craft, dependable and I plan to use Bencraft when my AC does die. Thank you to Bencraft! A close friend of our family had A/C problems during the 4th of July holiday. My wife and I had decided that we wanted to have this taken care of for her as soon as possible. I had expected to hear that they would not be able to come out until after the 4th of July. However after I explained the situation they arranged to have someone take a look at the A/C right away. Since we live in a different town they had to coordinate with our friend who was having the A/C issue and myself because I was the one who was to approve the work. I've had BMS out on two occasions for separate issues and have been quite impressed with Brett and his expertise on both visits. He's prompt, very knowledgeable works very efficiently yet is thorough. We have an older home with an aging HVAC system and instead of trying to sell me a new unit like most others would, he indicated that our system still had plenty of good life left which shows me he's a man of integrity. Have a AHS warranty on home we purchased in April called them on Monday and they sent Bencraft on Wednesday late afternoon. My first impression of the Tech was excellent. I thought him to be well spoken an knew what he was doing. He discovered a leak and despite my horror (Because they charged me $450 to refill the refrigerant), I authorized him to proceed with the repair, only after he assured me that his company does this right, and cleans outs the lines, and then recharges them and verifys no other leaks and if it leaks out, they refill for free. Does the repair and leaves my house around 3:30 p.m. I wait for the house to cool off but 2 hours after he leaves the temp inside is rising. come back at the end of the next day and determine there must be a leak somewhere else then determine a valve needs to be replaced but its too late theyll come back tomorrow. They come back replace the down valve, and now discover there must be a leak somewhere else. They cut the copper line at the return inside to try and isolate where the leak is. they tell my wife they found it in the underground lines and another $500 out of pocket to fix it. Wifey says we need to think about. Tech leaves without repairing the copper lines he just cut. Another company arrives for a second opinion and cant properly diagnose because the system was left in disarray. I spoke with Brett the owner one time throughout this process, however he just spoke over me and told me they have 30 calls a day! Lastly, despite my 1st impression I had to clean up after the Tech each time he did anything inside. and of the 3 AC companies that came to the house they were the only ones that did not cover their shoes. I am a Volunteer baseball umpire .3 Strikes and you are out. I see all the good reviews out there, I guess I was the lucky one to have all of the forces of nature line up against me because i cant even give 2 stars. read more

Beware of any services or information provided by Bencraft Mechanical Services! In March of 2015, Bencraft Mechanical Services came out to repair my downstairs A/C system. Brett, the owner, mislead me to believe that my home warranty company would not cover the repairs needed and that it would be more efficient to purchase a brand-new system, particularly the Trane system. He sold me on it with the belief that my current A/C system would continue to have the same issues and the new Trane A/C unit would run for years without problems. This was a complete lie! I spent thousands of dollars on the new system and it is still incapable of keeping up with my upstairs A/C, which is over 20 years old! Over the past 3 years, I have had over 7 service calls for this new system by different A/C companies. Several of those service calls were performed by Brett, the owner of Bencraft Mechanical Services. In May of 2018, Brett came out to repair my Trane system which was serviced just a couple months before by a different company. He explained that the system was not working because it had a leak in the freon line and needed more freon, however, the other company had already added freon those couple months prior. We trusted that Brett knew what he was talking about and paid him for those services. He attributed the leak and loss of freon to the lightning strikes and FPL. In August of 2018, simply 3 months later, the same problems occur and when I called Bencraft, they wanted me to put another call in to the home warranty company so they would get paid for another service call without troubleshooting the issues first. I disagreed on the ground that they were the last ones to service the unit (within this short time period) and they should stand by their own work, especially on a system that they sold to and installed for me. I explained to them I would write this negative review based on them selling me a sub-standard system and their inability to repair that system they so highly recommended with excessive service calls. Brett responded verbally with "you're being an asshole." After this, a different A/C service company came out to repair the issue. The tech informed me that the system needed freon, again, but not due to a leak in the line. Instead, he explained that the last technician (Brett) who filled the freon did not tighten the service valve after he was done and system has been slow-leaking the freon I paid for only 3 months ago. I also filed an official complaint with Trane. When they looked through their customer service list of trained specialists, he was not on their list, and are pursuing a more in-depth research on the matter. I am shocked that a system that came so highly recommended has not only had so many issues, but the person who recommended it to me was 100% incapable of repairing the system he told me would not fail. We purchased our AC from Bencraft 6 plus years ago.Our AC went out this week and they sent someone over same day. It was the motor and since we purchased the protection plan it was covered under warranty. As soon as the motor arrived and even though they were booked the entire day working 12 hrs days when they finished their last customer they came over around 8PM. read more

Just following up on Brett's comments. He quoted me $150 for the duct seal and $75 for the bathroom exhaust fan. They were quoted as separate prices, not grouped together. Upon his arrival I advised I did the duct seal myself because I got tired of waiting for him to come do the work. He then said he wouldn't make enough money off the bathroom exhaust fan so he doubled the quote to $150. I told him I wouldn't pay that much. He left. I had another company come out and they did the exhaust fan for FREE! Brett also called me on my home phone reference my Yelp review here and threatened me with a lawsuit for "slander". I advised him I won't remove my review and you can't sue someone for libel if what they are saying is the truth and their experience with your company. read more

Always VERY friendly, professional and knowledgeable! They are always quick to work you into your schedule and do their best to stay within the scheduled window of time for service calls.
