Great group. I've been getting my eyes check and glasses here for years. They've always taking amazing care of me and seem to be very good at what they do. I recently decided to try a pair of the transition lands and I really enjoyed them. The doctor is an amazing baker as a hobby, and she always gives me the best homemade goodies, they aren't exactly on my diet, but they're too good to pass up. I even had a pair of sunglasses that had stretched out that they adjusted for me for free. I would recommend these guys to anyone. read more

The doctor is nice enough. Been getting glasses here for about 5 years, they used to give you baked goods when you picked up glasses which was a nice touch. They no longer do that and after my last pair, I learned that they are one of the most expensive options to get glasses from. I came here to accompany my sister for her appointment, she's been coming here for years and it was a lovely visit. Even thought I wasn't the one getting my eyes checked, I did want to leave feedback because I thought the office was very clean, organized, and I love that they are taking the necessary precautions during this Pandemic. The front desk lady took our temperatures upon entering and she was very friendly. Even though Dr. Benders office is about an hour away, I would say it's Definitely worth the drive. My sister was seen very quickly, and Dr. Bender was super friendly, professional and attentive. It was also so nice to get some baked goodies made by her as we were leaving the appointment. Dr. Bender is absolutely wonderful. She knows what she is doing and gets you in an out. She always has availability in her schedule even though they are super busy. I love the staff there, they are all very knowledgeable and friendly. They accept most insurances and are willing to work with you if you can't pay the full price for you glasses or contact lenses immediately. I went there because I was having horrible headaches and having trouble seeing at night. Dr. Bender did my exam and prescribed me glasses so good I feel like I'm a super hero. I can literally see everything...kinda makes me feel like I was blind before I went to her. Anyway since then I have taken my Mother who is elderly to her and my daughter as well. She has seen all 3 generations and she has taken great care of us. She also loves to bake...so with every single appointment you get a box of her homemade goodies! When I tell you she could open a bakery...please believe me! Delicious! The prices are reasonable and they have a very large variety of frames to choose from. They are right next to Starbucks which is super convenient if someone has an appointment and you don't want to wait inside. There is tons of parking because they are located within a shopping center. You could even walk over to Public and grab groceries while you are waiting as well. Overall excellent service, very professional, clean and kind. I am so happy she is my eye doctor! New resident and new client back in December 2018. Pros: Very fast check up. Open on Saturdays. Everyone is friendly. Snacks in front that my toddler enjoyed. Cons: My high-index eye glasses ordered in December 2018 is still back-ordered. It's almost April. I've talked to Trisha and Donald. They have no idea when I'll get those eye glasses. (Thankfully they're my back up.). Dr. Bender is also aware of the issue. I'd recommend a different lab partner for this company. My original review that I posted 3 years ago gave the practice 5 stars, because 3 years ago Dr. Bender was a very different doctor. I was extremely disappointed with my last exam this year for several reasons. She charges our insurance for a comprehensive eye exam, but she didn't even check the pressure in my eyes. I was in the examination room for about 5 minutes. The other exams that are included with other eye doctors, Dr. Bender charges separately for, and at a very high price. When you are out in the lobby picking out your glasses, you'll notice that none of the frames have prices on them. So how are you to know if you've gone over your budge or not? If money is not an issue for you, and you want a mediocre eye exam, then Dr. Bender is your gal. I will be going somewhere else next year. read more

I had my first appointment with them today and from the receptionist to the opto tech to the optometrist herself, everyone was friendly and caring. Dr. Bender is knowledgeable and patient. She took my concerns seriously and wrote me the correct contact lenses prescription (the optometrist I went to last year didn't vertex my rx which explained why my eyes often felt tired while wearing those lenses) - I found her on ZocDoc and she's as great as everyone mentioned. I wish I got to see Dr. Bender, her reviews are wonderful; unfortunately, the first person I met there made me turn around and leave. I made an appointment with a gentleman who said that the total cost of the exam would be $60. It seemed low, but hey...a deal! When I arrived for my appointment, the front desk woman was incredibly condescending and rude. Turns out the guy on the phone quoted me just the contact exam price, not the comprehensive exam AND contact lens exam price. So once we got that cleared up, I said fine and asked for the paperwork to fill out. Rather than hand me the paperwork, the front desk woman proceeded to ask me why I chose them, I replied that it was by my house and it was cheap. She asked how many different optometrists I called, I said probably around 16. At that she laughed and said "and you didn't KNOW you needed both exams?" At which point I walked out. I visited Dr. Bender back in August of 2016 and I have been debating about posting a review ever since. I have mixed thoughts about my overall experience. The reviews for Dr. Bender were great and I very much appreciated that I could make an appointment using ZocDoc. I especially enjoy that she gives you baked goods she makes herself! (*Please note this if you have allergies or dietary restrictions*) I filled out all of the paperwork ahead of time and when I arrived I was told they do NOT use the information submitted on ZocDoc. I was then handed a clipboard of papers to fill out, which took quite awhile to complete (despite the fact I arrived early) due to my blurry vision from what was going on with my eye at the time. (It was, of course, the reason for my visit.) There were two women at the front desk the whole time, just watching curiously until I was done. I did not realize one of the women was Dr. Bender until I turned in the clipboard. The actual visit with Dr. Bender was only 5-10 minutes. She did not read over any of the paperwork I filled out and she actually set it to the side. She could visually see what was wrong with my eye, though during the quick exam she seemed more concerned with me coming back for a vision exam. I wasn't able to tell her the circumstances surrounding the condition with my eye (it had occurred on the way down to the beach and had progressively gotten worse, which would have been a very relevant point). I also repeatedly said (in addition to having put it on ZocDoc and throughout the paperwork) the condition was causing my vision to be blurry and had me in a lot of pain. She prescribed me medication and I followed the instructions to the letter. At first it did get better, then it just gradually stopped working, leaving an occasionally occurring situation. Recently, it has started coming back up again - this time for BOTH eyes. Unfortunately, I think I will need to see someone else for a second opinion. (*Another note I should make is you cannot use CareCredit at Dr. Bender's office unless the amount for your visit is $500 or more.*) read more

I chose Bender Eye Care because of it's proximity to my home and one of my friends had recommended Dr Bender. I do like Dr Bender. She and her staff provide great customer service! They are friendly, professional and stand behind their quality eyewear. Selection of eyeglasses is sufficient enough to give you a nice variety of choices without being overwhelming. Excellent and Professional Eye Exam and being fitted for the right vision wear. Really no wait time at all. I can say enough about Dr. Bender and her staff as all are professionally trained for each of their positions. Dr. Bender always keeping track of my vision problems and the individual that showed me the glasses selection for my progressive lens that I need to be looking at that would be best-fit glasses for me. When my glasses/new lens came in they fitted me for them on my face and made sure everything was correct. Plus they are willing to accommodate me on an early appointment or late in the afternoon. Ms Bender was very knowledgable and kind in dealing with us until I informed her that I was going to get my glasses elsewhere. All of a sudden she was distant and aloof. She mentioned to her front desk to give us a prescription and then turned her attention elsewhere. By elsewhere I mean behind the front desk to play with her dog and ignore that we were even there anymore. I asked her what type of dog it was 3 times before she heard me and answered and I was the only customer in there at the time. I noticed that there was no PD number on the Rx so I asked about it and was told that I would have to pay an additional amount for that information. Seems like someone wants in on the money that I am going to save buying my glasses online. I'm noticing that some doctors just provide this information when you pay them for an eye exam and others hold it hostage. Not a problem. I paid the money and now I have the information I needed but I just think that anyone who is going there for an eye exam should be aware of the additional fee if you are going to be ordering your glasses online. read more

My sons and I have been going to Dr Bender for the last 4 years and I highly recommend her!! Super friendly staff, comfortable environment, never feel rushed and always feel like we're the only patient! The staff is also great at knowing insurance benefits and answering questions. I always feel like they help me to get the better deal for ME, rather than trying to get me to spend more on unnecessary features or products. Dr Bender is super nice and easy to talk to, AND....she's an incredible baker!! New patients are given a box of homemade yummy desserts, and oldies are surprised with them from time to time too! These people are, quite simply, the best. Dr. Bender has put together a team that is both competent and friendly. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of the business and the insurance process. There is no aggressive 'up-selling'. Prices are more than reasonable and the services provided are the best. On top of everything, Dr. Bender could be an excellent professional pastry chef! I just had a terrible experience here. I went for an eye exam 2 weeks ago and had 1 of the employees check with my insurance company to see if I was covered , he confirmed that I was and I would not have to pay for the exam. I proceeded to go back the next week for glasses and paid for them in full at the time. Yesterday I received a $75 bill from my insurance company. I went back today to pick up my glasses (which I paid for) and they would not give me my glasses until I paid my $75 bill. Needless to say, I left without my glasses. read more

This place is a ripoff. Wouldn't recommend this place ...unless you are willing to spend $700/- and above for a pair of glasses. I had to pay $150 even though I had insurance. Dr. Bender will recommend you to get progressive lenses even if you don't need them. The doctor's assistant is very pushy. If you tell her you have insurance she will show you plastic frames that you usually see at dollar shops. Avoid this place. If your okay with paying twice as much for your frames then this is the place for you. I paid $255 for frames, Lens Crafters has the same frames for $150. The frames I received were dirty, full of dust and dirt near the screws. I truly think I got the frames on the floor and they just placed my new lens on them. read more

Easy to make an appointment. Please be aware patients will not be educated about different lenses options until after you purchase your glasses. I was recommended by Bender to get progressive lenses, however was not informed until after I got my glasses that it could take a month to adjust. They are happy to spend time with you afterwards to talk with you about your purchase. But there is NO customer satisfaction guarantee. Please go elsewhere. I found out from Pearl Vision (Alpharetta Highway, whom I highly recommend) that progressive lenses are not recommended for people who ever have motion sickness. Pearl Vision would have given me 100% of ALL my money back, unlike Bender. Please go elsewhere, just in case you have a problem with your glasses. I was seen for my annual eye exam ( giving 2 stars because this is my second time seeing her as my EyeCare Professional. My first visit was average and typical. I had a light prescription and was given progressive lenses as well. I Was steered towards the most expenses lenses (not knowing as no frame has a price on them) My second visit was much different. Staff changes frequently (husband was a patient there as well ) the front desk assistant is also optometric assistant. (She was new) my appoint was a several months ago. She could not get the auto refractor to work ( yes I worked in optometry ) it took 3 people to get the plug to work. Then she had me read charts. Then Dr. Bender did her 5 Minute or less exam. I received My script and was set up with a new optician in training. Lenses have no prices. I was being sold on a package deal that included everything you could ask for which I did not need or want. Then I asked to see my insurance and learned my insurance paid more on particular brands than others. Guess What ... limit frames on what my insurance covered. Did not do the crazy package and just did regular progressives. They charged me the wrong price not in my favor of course!!! So I received the oh I'm sorry you actually owe ----$ After wearing them I actually could not see .... called ... was told oh give it Time was told this multiple times ..... 3 months later I made an appt. with who I thought was Dr. Bender ... NO!! It was the new optician and another new staffer going back and fourth asking Dr Bender questions ( when I could read the notes and the scripts and knew why I could not see) by the time they were finished talking to Dr Bender I could have had a recheck. So the optician asks me to come back as Dr Bender when I told her due to my schedule and actually making an appointment that was not possible I was told she was having a bad day and was out of sorts I'm thinking .... What ???? I made an appointment, sat through all the go betweens and can't see and you want me to come back because a physician has issues. It is not my concern you decided to work with issues . You Showed up and so now do your job. I do not need to know about it. Had the optometrist I worked for knew I said that to a patient I would have been fired. I left with the same crappy glasses horrible customer services with employees who have no idea what they are doing and will pay for another exam else where. Oh and the bake goods I received at my initial visit had ants in them. read more

I'm very pleased with my experience with Dr. Bender and her staff. I've been a patient for two years - I found her originally by checking reviews of her patients. Previously I was a patient of a eye doctor in a high rise ITP where frankly I felt like a number, not a patient. Seeing Dr. Bender is very different and very positive. She's helped me get the right contact prescription (I rarely need my reading glasses since coming to Bender Eye Care). I've gotten my glasses there also. As other reviewers mentioned, her patients get a box of home made treats to take with them following the appointment. I don't know anywhere else that you will see that. Highly Recommend! I called Dr Bender on a Sunday morning after sustaining an eye injury from playing with my 5 year old. Dr Bender agreed to meet my wife and I a few hours before the normal Sunday hours to see me as a new patient. When we arrived we noticed a sign on the door that said they would be closed that day and not have their normal Sunday hours. Not only did she open the office specifically for my injury but she did so on a day when she wasn't planning to come in at all. She was able to examine my eye and provide antibiotic drops and treatment to my injuried eye. I would highly recommend seeing Dr Bender for your eye care needs. read more
