I've been seeing (!) Dr. Arey for over twenty years--that speaks volumes. He's very professional and his kind manner always makes me feel welcome. Office staff always cheerful and supportive. And TODAY...Lina helped me select frames. She was very patient, a good listener and the best part--she is very perceptive as she knows what frames could look great on you. The optometrists are great. The eyewear portion of the practice is awful. They had me wait a month and then had the lenses wrong. They had me sit and wait for a manager who was not even in the store. read more

To make matters worse, I wasn't even informed clearly where my frames were at times, and I only started to get traction after the lens brand's corporate office stepped in. At one point, I was even spoken to rudely by staff--completely unacceptable given the circumstances.In the end, I was advised to keep my frames and go elsewhere to get lenses made. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of service you can expect here once you move beyond the exam room. Unfortunately, the lack of product knowledge and professionalism from the optical staff completely overshadowed an otherwise great doctor experience. Front desk service is really bad. Their do not good manners. They'll keep you waiting without any reasons.

It my my first time here as it was the closest location my insurance suggested. The staff is nice, the office is very nice as well and very clean and fancy. There were two things I did not appreciate, 1 where the front desk clerk was very pushy on me getting glasses, after me telling her I only came for contacts. Second of all, me thinking that this place was covered by insurance I only had to pay a small co pay, to my surprise it was $86. The contact lens evaluation was $50 dollars which originally was $60 but my insurance covered the difference. So .. what I am trying to tell the others who come into this office, make sure you ask before getting anything done what your insurance covers and find out how much everything will be before getting anything done, or else you will walk out with a very big bill. Frankly your standard eye care place. The people were friendly and the appointment was promptly started. The biggest fault is the last of selection on glasses. They have a handful of high end ones but really nothing on the basic to mid range. Most eye insurance only gives you $130 for frames and they have practically nothing in that range. If you need frames that are cheap you might as well go elsewhere. read more

Where do I begin with the over the top service I recently received on a Sunday when the office was closed. My good friend from middle and high school Tommy Arey answered a call on a Sunday from me with concerns for a dear friend that was having issues with one eye. He met us at his office with his family and performed an eye exam. This gave us the information needed and calmed our nerves for the evening. I can't express enough my personal gratitude for Tommy and his family for taking time on a Sunday to help. read more

called several times, no answer. called a day or two later was told that they will call me back because they were tied up but that i wouldn't be able to get an appointment within the month anyway. great customer service already. they finally called a few days later and left a message. give me a break....by that time i was already in and out at costco with half the price of eye glasses and the same eye appointment. read more

I've been going to WEC since the early 2000's when my office at the time was a 2 minute walk away. I now live in Smyrna and still make the trip to WEC because of the good service I've received over the years. I've recommended them to friends over the years and have never had cause to complain. read more

How about a fresh review to a refreshed office. Previously I'd give this place a 2.5 to 3 star review. Have always loved my doctor, but he had sub-par staff. The front desk was never over attentive, wait times were terrible and the sales team was tarnished. HOWEVER, this morning's visit was very different. I was greeted twice on my way in, had good small talk with everyone who helped me, and other than a computer glitch had a very efficient visit and glasses buying process. It didn't take but a few extra smiles, much better energy and polished staff to take this to a 5 star review. Please, keep this up, Windward Eye care! read more

Staff was super friendly and very easy to talk to. I was in and out in a little over an hour, including picking out frames and dilating my eyes. I only picked windward eye care because my insurance was limited. However, I'm glad I made the 45 minute drive here. We had a GREAT experience at Windward Eye Care today. My 15 yr old son, Justin, needed immediate care and they got us in within hours of my call. Dee, the office assistant, went the extra mile to help me with insurance coverage, which I didn't expect. Dr. Moon took a lot of time with Justin and was very thorough. I was blown away by the patience and compassion from the all of the staff. A special thank you goes to Vanessa. Vanessa spent over an hour with my teenager and patiently helped him try to figure out how to put in contact lenses. She even demonstrated the process on herself, three times. Her sensitivity and patience was unlike anything I have ever experienced at an Optometrist office. Furthermore, we will have an awesome pair of shatterproof sports glasses within the next two weeks so Justin can continue to play baseball. We will use Windward Eye Care with both kids and I will refer them to anyone! read more

After looking at the ratings, I must have gone to the Alpharetta Windward Eye Care (WEC) that's in another universe. This morning I showed up for a 10:10 am appointment and deja vu all over again. Last year was my first visit to WEC. I had to wait at least 30 minutes for the examination. The explanation: "we're running late". The examination seemed to last an eternity with the doctor evidently going back and forth between patients. I believe the total time was around one and half hours from my scheduled appointment time to the time my contact lens prescription was delivered. I also waited another usless15 minutes to discuss eye glass frames. This morning, I sat around until after 10:30 and, guess what, no examination. I canceled my appointment and explained the same thing happened last year. Yes, the staff members are attractive and personable but that does nothing to ameliorate the total lack of professionalism show by the doctors. No, I won't return. I believe there are around 20 eye care centers within a five-mile radius. Oh yes, a staff member called and apologized. She said they were running late. read more

They do not allow 0 stars - so I left rating at 1 star. A very unhappy and disappointing experience. I started with this practice a year ago and even then I thought the staff somewhat difficult with questions, etc. My experience this morning made me do something I have not been compelled to do before -- write up a POOR YELP REVIEW. A couple of weeks back I had a very bad fall and shattered my foot. It has laid me up for weeks and hampered all mobility. With all I have been dealing with -- Seems I overlooked setting up a check up eye appointment. When I used my last contact lens the other day - I called Costco for a refill and was told my prescription had just expired -- when I explained my handicap situation -- they suggested I give the Dr's office a call. After calling Winward Eye Care , and explaining my situation wit the assistant -- giver her the same information -- her response was when do you want to come in to the office for a visit!! -- just as I finished saying that I was unable to go anywhere -- GOODNESS. I asked her to explain to Dr Thomas Avery and see if he could extend my prescription somewhat due to my circumstances. I am in a bad way physically but I am out of my right eye contact lens. I got a call back from assistant telling me NO -- THEY WILL NOT HELP! Is this how a customer is treated. How can you expect customer loyalty when you show absolutely no compassion. Having a severe injury is hard enough -but to couple that without vision is horrific. I would never recommend this Dr or this practice. They are not caring and have obviously no concern for their patients welfare at all. How disappointing. read more

Called to reschedule my appointment today. I didn't even have the opportunity to ask for another opening in the day, due to a conflict in my schedule..when the receptionist said " this will be considered a no show, we need 24 hours advance notice to cancel an appointment, you will be charged $50 after three no shows" I was about to say that I was sorry, when she blatantly hung up on me! What? Well I wanted to say I'll keep it or reschedule, but she rudely hung up! She reprimanded me for changing my appointment. I understand that it takes time away from other patients that need to schedule something, but it's not common practice for me to cancel appointments. I was shocked that she literally hung up! I wasn't rude, just politely called to reschedule... Wow.. And I liked the dr there, but won't ever go back. Nor will my husband and three kids who also go here. I will gladly find another dr that is polite. Unbelievable! read more
