José Cruz, Director of Sales, was in contact with us many weeks before our Oregon visit. He provided us with information about the house, coordinated our personal wine tastings, and a host of other information we inquired about before our travels. We were very impressed with the professional and kind responsiveness to our many questions. José conducted our two wine-tastings personally. Through José, we learned so much about Andante's history, wines, and the background of some of the staff. José was key to making our visit a time we will not soon forget. Thank you, José! The hosts/vineyard owners, Joe Allen and Karen Saul were very welcoming and greeted us personally. In addition to the wonderful wines, beautiful rolling vineyards, amazing sunrises/sunsets, and interactions with the staff, we were there to also see/hear a prominent Oregon Folk group. Unfortunately, one member became ill, and the event had to be cancelled. Joe, Karen, José, and Brandon Correa (Tasting Room Lead) realizing how disappointed we were to miss such a concert that they arranged a special surprise for us on day two of our wine tasting. Joe (on a Steinway piano) and Brandon (on Viola) played a special piece especially for us (an arrangement of Ave Maria). This was such an unexpected personal touch! The entire staff at Andante was amazing. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable. You can sense that everyone genuinely loves being there. All in all, we find Andante Vineyard to be classic, peaceful, vibrant, tasteful, and inviting. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue and staff. We cannot wait for our next visit. They have a stellar selection of both reds and whites. I opted for their standard tasting, which just scratches the surface of the wines that are available from this great, boutique winery. Don't get me wrong, I love the big boys, too, but there is something extra special about going to a smaller winery and enjoying a fantastic wine in an atmosphere that is more intimate. It's like finding a hidden gem next to another gem! What a treat! I was served by Becky, who was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. When I left, I bought a bottle of wine, but since it's a boutique winery and I didn't know if they'd have this other bottle I wanted, I opted for both, which is rare for me (unless I need to purchase 2 bottles to waive the tasting fee).

On Memorial weekend of 2025, the Kuenzi Family Vineyard had its Grand Opening Celebration. At that…read moretime, a few members of my family had the chance to visit the vineyard and sample their wines. One thing that struck me was how beautiful the scenery was on and around the vineyard. Steep slopes with vines, a pond down below, and a beautiful tasting room highlight their idyllic surroundings. Snow Peak was evenly clearly visible in the distance. Because of the soil and weather conditions, Pinot Noir is the grape of choice for this vineyard. Most people who drink wine from Oregon have heard of Jory Soil (our state soil), which is plentiful in this region. On this estate property, they also have Dupee soil, which originated in Montana, and was deposited by glacial movement and floods after carving out the Columbia River Gorge. They also get substantial winds from the ocean through the Van Duzer corridor. These conditions, while challenging, create the perfect environment for Pinot Noir grapes. Art Kuenzi, the family patriarch, gave us this history lesson and took us through the very involved process of preparing the site, planting the vines, and maintaining them. It's much more work than you would think, so you'd better love what you're doing if you take up this line of work. And he definitely does. In addition to the Pinot Noir line up, which includes a Pinot Noir rosé, they have a Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, both of which were as delightful as the Pinots. Of the reds I tried, my favorites were the Mary (named after the family matriarch) and the 2021 Heritage 67 (the 2022 needs a little more time to mature IMHO). We ordered a cheese, cracker, nut and fruit board to accompany our fine wine lineup. They have different flight options available. We opted for the "Freedom" flight, where you get to choose any 5 wines. As of this date, the tasting room is open Thursdays and Fridays by appointment and Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. Kuenzi Family Vineyard is closed on Sundays, so make sure you plan ahead and pop in on a Saturday. While there, be sure to enjoy the spectacular views. Weather permitting, they have outside seating. Even inside, though, the windows allow you to soak up the peaceful and quite exceptional scenery. Great wine, great views, friendly hosts. You can't get much better than that.

It is the perfect spot to spend a lazy summer day. Or any day! As you enter the driveway, there is a beautiful iron gate which welcomes you to the long driveway past the pond and up to the gorgeous stone building that houses the tasting room and event space. We were there during the summer and the fragrant roses were in bloom, along with other flowers, adding the perfect pop of color. They have created various seating spots in the shade of trees, either tables or settees and comfy chairs. Maysara considers themselves stewards of the land, and as such, respect the land so it remains for future generations. They are a fully biodynamic and sustainable winery. For example, they grow a variety of medicinal and dynamic flowers & herbs that are turned into compost teas to fertilize and create nutrient rich soil without chemicals or pesticides. The resulting wines are truly a result of nature, combining the Persian vines, rich soil, and climate of the Oregon Coastal Range foothills. We all opted for a flight that started with three whites and finished with three reds. I'm usually a big, bold red fan so was surprised and delighted to fall in love with their Pinot Gris. It was crisp and light, so refreshing on a warm summer anfternoon. I also loved their sparkling rose. actually, I liked every wine we sampled! Each of the wines are named after various Persian legends, and as the wines were poured, we heard the stories of the wine's namesake, and learned about the grapes and process. It was very enjoyable. Maysara is a special place. I can't wait to visit again for more delicious wine and to take in the peaceful space they created.
