Ok....home base for wine. I'm a tad partial since we're shareholders and we get 50% off, but it's still awesome wine. I'm not sure if this is still the case but tasting is free. The only downside is that it's Southwest of Salem, so there's a bit of a drive. Summer, one of the gals that works there, is really friendly and very easy to deal with. I have been visiting Eola Hills Wine Cellars for years. Really nice people there. As per standard the tasting fees are waived with a purchase. The recent new paint and update to the front is great. Wonderful prices for the quality of wines. The reserves are my personal favorites. On sunny days, the Legacy Estates is beautiful to sit back and enjoy the view. I apologize for the delay, this review has been a long time in coming, its just sometimes hard to put into words. When I first started hearing about The Great American Eclipse, I just knew I had to see it. This was my chance to see my first Solar Eclipse, and the path of the totality was over the United States! But where should I go? Well, I love wine, maybe I'm a hopeless romantic... but sitting in a vineyard, drinking a glass of wine, and watching the totality... thats what I wanted. A couple Google searches later, and BAM! I found a special event being put on by Eola Hills. I spoke with Stephanie over the phone, and was able to secure one of the last VIP hotel accommodations at the beautiful Grand Hotel in Salem. Everyone was very friendly at the winery, I got to have dinner with the winemaker in the vineyards, the food was included in my VIP package, and the staff went out of there way to make sure I was taken care of. Katie the wine club manager (Katie, you rock!), was so nice and allowed Shane to take us to a wine testing at the Rickreall wine room. Shane was very accommodating and even took us to OTHER wineries in the area to taste some of their wines. I think I took about 3 cases of wine home that weekend, in addition to a new Wine Club membership. Every night there was something to do! Some of my favorites: 1. Stargazing 2. That Smores Truck (OMG! AMAZING) 3. The Winemaker's Dinner in the Vineyard. 4. The Eclipse talks during the day, where they explained some of the science behind it. Overall, it was a great experience thanks to everyone involved who made the Eclipse weekend spectacular. I look forward to visiting again. read more

We are huge fans of Eola Hills. Their tasting room is free and the service is excellent. Their wines are also very well priced with some amazing case discounts etc. I have been here a great many times though and am always astounded at how great their service is. If you are into super sweet wine I highly recommend the Pacific Blanc which you can find on the shelves at Trader Joes or you can get a case of it at Eola for around $70 usually. It is well worth it. We go for the brunch though - you seriously cannot get a better deal. Start out your trip to wine country with all your can eat breakfast foods that are excellent. Their brunch is now year round too which just started this fall due to its popularity and is $19.95 per person which includes a glass of wine (which is a VERY generous glass). I cannot stress enough how wonderful their pan fried oysters are or that you really need to make reservations! They also have a great deal I might try for my birthday this year which is if you bring ten people with you for your birthday and have brunch then you eat free and get a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for your table. Such a lovely winery inside & outside. The inside is quite expansive. I have to say the women who helped me was super nice & very knowledgable. I forgot her name which is terrible but she was a gem. The outside patio is where I chose to taste. I felt like I was in my own backyard so it was very relaxing. The wines that I tasted were excellent. I would have done more tasting but I had to pace myself. The price has jumped up 41% this year and the quality continues to decline. I used to eat at this brunch many times a year and have noticed a huge decline in selection of brunch foods as well as the quality of the food. The chocolate covered strawberries disappeared long ago, the salad selection is now limited to one Caesar salad, the champagne disappeared as well. The apple juice is gone. Inflation is not 41%! You used to receive two glasses of wine with each brunch and now, you only receive one glass and a very limited low quality brunch for $35 a person. What happened Eola Hills? I cannot recommend this brunch anymore; how sad. read more

We showed up at 5:25 to wine taste on a Saturday and waited for the person in front of us to check out what seemed to be a long time. When we finally were asked what we were wanting (wine taste) first time there. She told us she could no longer serve us as it was past 5:30. It was 5:31. Mind you we had showed up and stood there for 5 min. And the website says closes at 6pm. Sooooo we were sent away. Terrible service. I am not a huge wine drinker. My review is solely based on customer service. We walked in at around 4:40. We had no clue they closed at 5. It wasn't mentioned at all to us. We hate to be "those people.." however after no one else walking after us I started to wonder when they closed. So I asked. She said 5. Also she said she didn't mind at all because she enjoys her job and has no plans. Super nice. Her name was Rachel. Shout out to her making us feel welcome even though we kept her later than we should have. She was super flexible with what we tasted and let us switch out a few. Thank for the great service, Rachel! I've been here a couple times and both times were equally nice. It's rare to see free wine tasting. The tasting manager, I forget her name, is super friendly and knowledgeable. My favorite is the 2006 Gewurztraminer (tastes like candy.) The tasting manager at the time recommended trying spicy hazelnuts with the Gewurztraminer and it was surprisingly delicious. read more

The tasting room in Rickreall is very nice and can accommodate large functions. The prices for the wine flights are reasonable ($15 for six samples of either the standard red or white flights). They will allow you to substitute wines if you have a particular preference (we detest sweet wines). read more

I love this winery. I've visited both tasting room locations many times and I love them both. The tasting room in Rickreall has recently undergone a lot of renovations and updates and the place looks great! Their Legacy Estate Vineyard is beautiful and such a fun environment. Their tasting room staff is generally very knowledgable, although, I will say that there are definitely some more than others. We all have favorites, right? Eola's wines are amazing! I like a lot of varietals, which makes Eola great because they make some 30+ different wines. My favorites are ALL of the Pinot Noirs, especially the Fossil Block and Wolf Hill Pinot Noirs - spendy, but so delicious and worth it; both the classic and the barrel select Chardonnays; and Classic Cabernet is a recent favorite in our household too! All in all, my whole family loves Eola Hills Wine, I have loved the events I've attended in the past (ladies, you must try yoga nights!), and I love the people there. read more

Great hometown winery located in Rickreall, Oregon, right off of HWY 99 right across from the Polk County Fairgrounds. My experience here was A+ from the moment we arrived. We used Eola as a common meeting ground for some relatives of ours who were in the state visiting. They love wineries, we love wineries, so we figured this would work great. It was Sunday brunch so the parking lot was packed but since we were there only to sample wine the guy directing cars allowed us to park right next to the winery entrance. He also allowed our relatives to leave their car parked up the hill on the winery grounds under a shade tree for several HOURS so we did not have to drive up to the park and ride. This made things SO much easier for all of us; our relatives were able to just hop in our car and go with us after our visit. We all stepped into the winery which was incredibly busy for 11 am!! Alas, the girl doing the wine tastings was absolutely wonderful! She let us taste whatever we wanted and even though I only bought 2 bottles, she gave me a 15% discount! (One is suppose to buy a minimum of 4 bottles to get the discount.) I walked out of there with 2 bottles of some of the most delicious wine I have ever had in my life! The grounds koi ponds are very beautiful. I enjoyed just sitting on the bench outside of the winery, admiring the koi begging me to feed them. I'll have to ask next time if they have food for these guys for me to toss to the lil beggars!! All in all I had a wonderful experience here and I definitely WILL be back again soon. read more

We attended our sixth Eola Hills Wine Ride yesterday. It continues to be a favorite cycle tour for us each year. We biked the Norther route this year. We try to alternate years. They switch routes every week, one week the Northern route (most difficult) then the Southern route, prettier! The food is fantastic as is the support along the ride. This ride takes place each year on Sundays in August. If you sign up early on-line you save some $$. read more

We stopped here by chance on our way to the coast. Looks like a number of mixed reviews here but we were received well and had a nice time during our wine tasting -- even joined the wine club to try for a year. Had some nice crackers and cheese variety to pair along. And the chocolate drops they sell were a hit with us. I came away with their Wolf Hill Pinot Noir Reserve, Gewürztraminer, and Late Harvest Gewürztraminer. Looking forward to checking out their club offerings. We were told their tasting fee is $10 and it's waived if you purchase more than $40. read more

Who does that anymore? Apparently just Eola Hills, as every other vineyard we visited that day did charge us. So already, Eola Hills is set apart. Plus, you know, there's the whole fact that their wines are delicious. I particularly appreciated their reserve Chardonnay and their classic Pinot Noir. Wasn't as big of a fan of their Pinot Gris, unfortunately, but everything else I tried was great. Definitely give their raspberry dessert wine a try, too! It was incredible. Super sweet, and raspberry in every note -- smell, taste, and beyond. The space is very pretty as well -- they were setting up for lunch service (I think?) while we were there, so I think you are also able to get a meal if you time it right? Don't quote me on that though. If nothing else, you can still just go for the (free!) wine tasting. read more

Yesterday, I had a great day with my girlfriend. And, to all you folks out there who are looking for a fun way to spend the day, let me suggest the following itinerary (I've also listed this on the other places' reviews as well): If you find yourself in Oregon and don't know how to spend a day, here's what you should do. (1) Rent a car and head to the coast. If you go to the Agate Beach, there is a pier from Japan, washed up from the tsunami that you can go and see. It's pretty cool, and the drive from Corvallis was really pretty. (2) Drive to Salem, and stop off at a couple of the wineries. We made our way to the Eola Hills winery. It was pretty incredible. (3) Head into Portland, and have dinner at SauceBox. (4) Go searching for great books at Powells. Eola Winery is amazing. And within the winery, Rich--one of their shareholders--is doubly amazing. We went in expecting to try a couple of wines, say "Oh that's nice," and be on our way. We ended up spending over an hour there, trying out all sorts of different wines. Rich had us comparing different Pinot Noir vintages. We had different types of other varietals, from light whites to dark reds and desert wines. He gave us an education about his wines, and how we should think and talk about them. I'm not one to be a wine snob. I think wine should be fun and an adventure. Rich made sure that was so. This was a total blast. We had so much fun. And, we walked away having purchased a case for ourselves to take back home. I am really excited to enjoy the wine, made sweeter and more flavorful from the wonderful experience at their actual shop. Thanks, Rich! This review is for their Sunday brunch. We had 9:45 brunch reservations. We parked in the back lot and walked around back where the koi ponds are located. We entered through the tasting room. The staff was very friendly upon our arrival. I was a bit taken back when walking in. I was unaware that this set up was not permanent. You eat brunch in a wine barrel warehouse. You sit on plastic chairs. At plastic picnic tables covered with black table cloth. Everytime I got up my chair would flip over backwards because it was so light it could not hold up my coat :( For the prices. Adults $19.95 plus a $5.00 wine ticket (bonus because I love their wine) This price is fine if all you are looking for is endless food that is either bad or just okay. We also had my 3 year old with us. $9.95!!!!!!!!! For a 3 year old! I do not know about anyone one else but my kid is hit or miss with how much she eats. She never eats ten dollars worth! But alas you must pay before you eat ... Always a sign in my book that the food is going to be crap. I feel somewhat guilty for giving them one star because the family that caters the brunch was so friendly.. Except for the omelet station gentlemen .. Boo you are a grouch! But I must tell my fellow Yelpers to beware.. It is truly bad food with very little selection. I am almost 100% sure that the dessert table was supplied by Costco and I am pretty sure no one in the catering company has any culinary training or skill. The motto of the food seemed to be, sugar. Came for Mother's Day brunch on 5/10/15. Have to be honest that I am comparing it to some of the better ones we've been to. The only good thing about this is the pan fried oysters. (limited to 3/order) there's always a line for this, so a huge waste of time spent back and forth for this. All other items are your typical brunch fare, though the quality isn't always there. Seafood Eggs Benedict had IMITATION crabmeat and tiny bay shrimps. There were no breakfast bacon or sausages for brunch. The only bacon were the crumbled ones over at the omelette station. The checking in process was very confusing for one that have not been here before. There were no signs to direct you where to go, to check your reservation and parties in. The air ventilation in the building is terrible. The whole place was smoky, stuffy, and reeked of the oily, smoky fried oysters smell. You will leave smelling like you've bathed in it. We have always enjoyed Eola Hills' wines. But this review is about their event services. The setting, staff, and services are wonderful--especially the staff. The setting is intimate. The prices are reasonable--especially for a nonprofit. They have a full commercial kitchen, too, and plenty of parking. Best of all, there aren't any hidden costs, like charging for coffee. We stopped in for a wine tasting and we tried the white wine flight and the classic & reserve flight. I loved that the chardonnay was not oaky tasting, it was more fruity and clean. My favorites were the classic rose, chardonnay, pinot gris, and the reisling. I am usually a red wine drinker and was so pleasantly surprised that I loved the whites the most. Eola Hills tasting room is located right off of 99W south of Amity. They easily have 20 different wines to sample, of which you can taste up to 7 for no charge. The variety here runs from Lodi, California old vine Zinfandel to Columbia Gorge Cabernet Sauvignon. Eola Hills wine is definitely on the more budget range of wineries in this region. I hate to say that I'm not really enamored with their wines, but the free tastes (becoming increasingly rare in the area), California varietals and associated wine shop still make this a decent stop. read more

While we were up visiting family this past week we did a little bit of wine tasting over in this area. We stopped by Eola Hills and really enjoyed our time there and their wines. They are very good and reasonably priced. Also liked the fact there is no charge for tasting, 7 samples are more than enough for me. I enjoyed their Chardonnay and the Rose which for me is not my normal wine taste. Lean more towards the reds and absolutely loved their Syrah. The lady who was serving us last Monday was ever so pleasant and helped to make our wine tasting very enjoyable. We will be back we come through this area in August. read more

Tasting Room in Downtown McMinnville: So So!! Maybe even just two stars. The staff there certainly didn't "embody" the essence of the friendly, generous folks I've known from tasting at the winery in Rickreal. I'd highly recommend going to one of the other wineries in downtown McMinnville where the folks are nice to you! There's a review from 2013 that says the word complementary. IGNORE that! Not so any longer! $10 a person for 5 measured-tastings and the staff in Mac sticks to it. Sunday Brunch -- This was something I'd been wanting to do for years and finally got to go yesterday (the day after we attempted to taste in McMinnville). It would get four-stars. BEST CREPES EVER!! However, their hollandaise sauce was tasteless & runny and the man running their omelet bar was an "grouch"! That man should not be interfacing with the public. Plus: get this -- no REAL milk or 1/2 & 1/2 for coffee...just the fake stuff! Otherwise, loved all the different food stations they had and the way things ran so smoothly. Over-all the quality of everything was very high and the folks working there super nice (with the above exceptions) and it lived-up to my "high hopes". read more

One of my favorite Oregon wineries. Two years ago I went for their THANKSGIVING tasting weekend. With the small tasting fee I think I tried over 18 different wines and sampled some gourmet food treats too (nuts, crackers, chocolates). So glad I wasn't the designated driver. I love their dessert wines and their gift shop. I have bought mustard and other goodies here. Absolutely in my top 5 wineries in Oregon. Fantastic wines at a fraction of the cost of other wineries in the area. Top notch people and wine.....don't miss visiting this special spot. I love it! Last time I visited, wine tasting was complimentary. That is a rare treat I honestly cherish. I always buy at least a bottle or two after trying out all the delights. read more
