Absolutely loved every single thing about this winery! Visiting Maysara literally transports you. The musical sounds of birds chirping, vistas of the vineyards, frisky squirrels playing in the homemade water features, wild turkeys surrounding the driveway and pond - you are completely surrounded by nature and any stress you feel, melts away. It is the perfect spot to spend a lazy summer day. Or any day! As you enter the driveway, there is a beautiful iron gate which welcomes you to the long driveway past the pond and up to the gorgeous stone building that houses the tasting room and event space. We were there during the summer and the fragrant roses were in bloom, along with other flowers, adding the perfect pop of color. They have created various seating spots in the shade of trees, either tables or settees and comfy chairs. Maysara considers themselves stewards of the land, and as such, respect the land so it remains for future generations. They are a fully biodynamic and sustainable winery. For example, they grow a variety of medicinal and dynamic flowers & herbs that are turned into compost teas to fertilize and create nutrient rich soil without chemicals or pesticides. The resulting wines are truly a result of nature, combining the Persian vines, rich soil, and climate of the Oregon Coastal Range foothills. We all opted for a flight that started with three whites and finished with three reds. I'm usually a big, bold red fan so was surprised and delighted to fall in love with their Pinot Gris. It was crisp and light, so refreshing on a warm summer anfternoon. I also loved their sparkling rose. actually, I liked every wine we sampled! Each of the wines are named after various Persian legends, and as the wines were poured, we heard the stories of the wine's namesake, and learned about the grapes and process. It was very enjoyable. Maysara is a special place. I can't wait to visit again for more delicious wine and to take in the peaceful space they created. read more

Wine country has lots and lots of choices. Maysara is unique - women operated. Persian heritage and a nice range of whites and reds. The setting is classic wine country. Not elegant, but enjoyable. You have to walk through the main building for the stone and wood working. read more

Absolutely stunning winery. One of my best friends just got married here and there's nothing but great things to say. Firstly is the staff, who are all amazing, friendly, and so on top of it! Special shout out to Hannah who was in the thick of everything yet super calm and collected. The location is also amazing. You start by driving through gorgeous iron gates. Decent sized bridal and groom suite. Multiple beautiful ceremony locations. But the clear stand out is the winery itself, which is made from materials all collected on-site. The wooden front doors are massive and very clearly eye catching. All the drinks provided throughout the night were fantastic from their wines to their house made cocktails (margarita's and whiskey sours). Couldn't recommend this place enough, and I know we'll be back again. read more

For fruit of the vine and a good time tasting - the comfy seating under a shaded outdoor patio is a convivial space for a meet-up, chill-out and sip amazing biodynamic wines. My wife and I tasted a few flights mostly pinot noirs and a pinot gris. We love the the essence of fruity, earthy and spicy notes in the wines we tasted - the way I like it! Afterwards, we walked about and looked out over the hills of rolling vines. Grazing cows and foraging chickens, I suppose, help produce some nutrients the soil likes. Then, we purchased eight bottles to go. The wine is so good and even better when we know Maysara takes care and loves the soil. No chemicals are used. They use compost and teas processed on their lands to feed the soil earthy nutrients. Starting with the soil is the key in sustainable, organic and biodynamic farming and growing grapes. Healthy soil leads to healthy vines. The vines grow sturdy and robust producing superior grapes - through aging and fermentation grapes turn out most flavorful and full body wines. Maysara is certified organic and biodynamic by Demeter (not-for-profit incorporated in1985 with the mission to enable people to farm successfully, in accordance with Biodynamic practices and principles). It may take many years for a winner to receive this certification. Kudos to Maysara - definitely some of my favorite biodynamic wines, that I find at New Seasons and some Safeway's too. I prefer to only drink biodynamic wines - best for my health and tastes best - best for the soil - and best for taking care of the planet. read more

Incredibly disappointed with this winery. Lackluster wines and treated my party horribly. I would pass on this one. I had called about a month in advance to ensure they could accommodate our group of 10 for my partners birthday. At that time they were kind and willing to accommodate us. When we arrived about 10 mins into our reservation, they let me know they had not yet prepared our table but pointed to a larger table in the back. Annoying, but whatever, we grabbed extra chairs to help set up! The tasting experience is shockingly unhinged to me and makes no sense: everyone in my party ordered tasting flights individually yet they combine pours into carafes that we then have to divide amongst ourselves. They had lines on the carafes but it's incredibly confusing and when you pour it out, it equals to something like a single OZ per person. For $30 per person, this is nuts to me! Then while our party were enjoying ourselves, laughing and telling stories, the server approaches us to be quiet. I get that the cellar room where they do tastings echos but there was no one in there but us--they were quieting us down for the patrons OUTSIDE (eye roll). Even still, we were respectful and spoke softer after that. The last straw was when we were told by one of the servers that we could walk around the winery outside and appreciate the beautiful grounds just as long as we didn't go into the vineyard. Our group made our way outside, took some pictures and as we were making our way around the building the other server, without stepping away from serving someone else, sharply and aggressively yells at us from a distance to stop what we were doing. Keep in mind our group was mostly women of color while the staff and entire rest of the patrons on the patio were white. I don't need to state the obvious problem with these optics but I will: All these white people staring at a group of POC adults being shouted down at like children. It was embarrassing, unnecessary and unprofessional. Why were we told we could do something to then just be publicly ridiculed? Why didn't the server stop what she was doing, walk over and calmly/gently tell us we were misinformed? My partner informed the shouting server that we were told we could walk around and that she would go let the other server inside know she misinformed us. "YOU DO THAT!" She yelled back at us, again not stopping to serve these other white patrons. When my partner went back inside, the yelling server storms in and proceeded to yell at the other server, "stop telling people they can walk around." In a way, I feel bad for that server inside. This other lady was truly unhinged. And yet neither of them took ownership of this awful experience we were having. They merely gave excuse after excuse for why WE were in the wrong and made no effort at all to make it right. For such a fancy winery that stresses SO heavily their story of refugee women fleeing turmoil to make wine in Oregon, I'm just at a loss for how awful and discriminatory we were treated here. We absolutely won't be coming back. If you are under 50 and a minority, don't even bother with this place; they probably don't want your business anyway. And don't even get me started on how they are not at all ADA accessible! read more

This review is about the tasting room and staff. TLDR: Had a TERRIBLE experience. As it stands for me--Don't go if you are a person of color, a women of color, are of a younger demographic (20s/30s), or are looking for a fun vibe. The customer service was terrible, especially if your group has all these qualities. ---------- My friends and I, including mostly women of color, eagerly looked forward to our tasting reservation at Maysara Wines, but the experience was less than enjoyable. Maysara piqued my interest because of the story and family of the winery itself. That's how they got me through the door. After our wine tasting (which we had to share from carafes and poured ourselves,) we were told we could explore the scenic grounds. However, our plans were derailed by an older staff member who aggressively confronted us when we attempted to do so. This public reprimand, especially given the composition of our group in front of an all-white clientele, was highly uncomfortable and unprofessional. One of their excuses was that of being understaffed. That in itself is a red flag. There is always a not-so-great reason for that. That put so much pressure on workers getting paid the least. Our disappointment stemmed from the following: - Embarrassment: We were yelled at for something we were explicitly told we could do. - Inappropriate Confrontation: The staff member's public scolding was disheartening, considering our group's diverse makeup. - Lack of Accountability: Instead of offering a genuine apology, the staff member resorted to excuses. When I emailed the Club manager, Dominic, it was also the same excuses. This place might be for you for a very quiet, no-frills, DIY, good-views experience. However, I would not recommend it to folks who like to have fun, are people of color, or are young (or young at heart). Mind you, we were mostly in our 30's. The managing staff and customer service we encountered was not it. The vibes are off. And yes, all of them were. Sincerely disappointed. read more

Maysara Winery is the dream backdrop to your wedding or event. Absolutely gorgeous setting, both outside among the vineyards and inside the stone-wall tasting room and impressively large cellar. I sadly wasn't fond of the wines they were pouring (found the Sauv Blanc too sweet and the Pinot Noir too acidic), but I love that they are women-run and are committed to biodynamic practices. My only word of caution as a wedding guest is that the stone walkways and flooring make it precarious to navigate the grounds, not just for those in heels but also for elderly or mobility-challenged individuals. There was at least one slip-and-fall incident the evening we were there, but thankfully that man was okay. I otherwise wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting Maysara for an event or a tasting. read more

We stopped here for a tasting late in the afternoon. The place is beautiful. The buildings are relatively new, but they look timeless, with stone and wood. The day we were there they were holding the wine tastings in the larger area of the building because they had resealed the bar in the tasting room, which by the way, turned out beautifully. Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable about the winemaking, organics and biodynamics, as well as the history of the vineyard and family that founded it. Alright, I'll be frank. I couldn't believe that their wines were this excellent quality. During my entire Labor Day weekend tasting in Willamette Valley, we handed over our information to become wine members. It was absolutely delicious for those who definitely appreciate and love wine. Don't get me wrong, finding the tasting room isn't easy but that didn't destroy quality of wine or customer service. We stopped back here on Thanksgiving weekend. They posted a Facebook status that it was there last day of their Thanksgiving weekend party. Which was a good thing because I know they are normally closed on Sunday. In fact, Sunday's a great day to be open so Maysara folks, if you haven't changed your hours to include Sunday, please consider it. I have to rave about the new tasting room. I have never seen anything so fabulous. It's on past the original place where they used to have tastings and in a brand new building that is complete with covered parking. That is perfect for these Northwest days where we see much rain. Not to mention that fact that this winery's road is called Muddy Valley Road for a reason. The rock work on the walls is very beautiful and I'm sure not inexpensive. I tried to include a couple of pictures to show the true beauty of it all. Even the bathrooms adjacent to the tasting room had the rock work and the wooden plank counter tops. Truly nice indeed. Did I mention on the day we were they they had a deal that for twenty dollars you could taste five wines and taste some delicious food that paired well with the wine and you got to keep the attractive Maysara wine glass. It was very good and a nice little nosh that you normally do not receive with your wine tastings. I would give that five stars as well as the wine. A couple of things I didn't really like was they were a little eager to pour the wine so I felt a little pressure to down the taste I had and move on to the next one so that by the time I got done I had nothing to drink with the rest of the sample plate I had pieced together. I'll give them a break they were excited and eager to please so I get it but next time slow the pace down a bit more. One of the other odd things they did was to hand you a green ticket when you got there and then you hand it to the server at the end of the line. I didn't know what this was for but it was basically their way of counting everyone. Folks, figure out another system. I had my plate, glass and utensils filling my hands and had to dig through my pockets for this item only to find out it was their method of counting. How about a tick mark on a piece of paper when we walk in? Just an idea. The wine is very tasty and reasonably priced. You need to check out this new tasting room. It's worth the trip. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL & DISGRACEFUL SERVICE. My fiancé and I had set up and confirmed a wedding venue tour with Hanna. We drove from Portland to the venue, which is 90 minutes away, and arrived right on time. However Hanna was a no show. We introduced ourselves to the barteneder, and told him we were here for our venue tour appointment. He informed us Hanna had left for the day, but he'd call her. He took the call only a few feet away. It quickly became apparent, that she was vehemently denying she made this appointment, because she made him go check her desk calendar! Basically calling us liars! So then, this disheveled mess of a wedding planner, hangs up and has the balls to tell us we must be mistaken. We have 8 emails going back and forth, between my fiancé and Hannah. Clearly confirmed the right time and day day. The bartender, actually says, "Hey please don't shoot the messenger." No one ever apologizes, and he asked us to forward the email chain to Hannah. We did as asked, and of course isn't her email box full! Haha! The cherry on top confirming just how sloppy a planner she really is. You're supposed to be showing couples your venue, encouraging them to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to have their wedding at your vineyard. And this is how you operate? What a joke! What kind of person, does this? You're supposed to be running a business. You forget meetings, call us liars, don't rush over to make amends, and offer us nothing for our valuable time which you wasted! I can't believe anyone would have their wedding there. Was looking forward to visiting Maysara on our wine country trip. It has been a favorite of ours for many years and we were contemplating joining their wine club. After booking a reservation, we were seated, were brought a flight and told by the young woman who seated us that she would be back to provide information about the wines. We proceeded with trying the wines, but no one ever came back to speak with us. At all. We usually purchase several bottles when we visit, but couldn't get anyone to even acknowledge us. After a significant wait, we finally gave up, left money for the purchased flight and headed for the door. Again, no acknowledgement, no "Thank you for coming", nothing. Incredibly disappointing and quite the opposite from previous visits. read more

Can't say enough great things about Maysara. What a breathtaking view from every angle. They have a HUGE barrel room where we did the tasting. We were there on Black Friday so there was plenty of space for the big crowds. They put out very thoughtful food that was hot and delicious. We bought a few bottles and they were all priced at $20! It is very good wine so it doesn't get much better than that. The family was so sweet and knowledgeable about all the wines. You can definitely tell this is a wonderful family business. read more

Richard C., I doubt you ever come back here to check , but I wanted to let you know just in case - be grateful and thank God every day that happened. Because we DID attend a wedding at this venue, and were treated so unbelievably rudely and disrespectfully that it almost ruined the wedding - the bride's mother had to pull the manager/all her lackies aside to plead with her to stop actively ruining her daughter's day. Know why she had to do that? Because the manager/her lackies kept approaching the bride - in her wedding dress, dancing with her husband, surrounded by friends and family - to tell her the wedding party had 1) "left a mess of their clothes" in the "changing" room (they put us in a basement with no light or mirrors, 12 dudes got changed on concrete floor in the dark) then 2) to say they found "a flask of alcohol" in a member of the wedding party's bag (meaning he didnt have it on him, to drink - they were looking through bags?) and finally, 3, to accuse us of - get this - stealing a VAT of wine from that basement room (it was apparently a wine cellar.) Forget that, most importantly, we just would not steal from a wedding venue for our best friends. I get it if you don't blindly believe that. Well how about this - it was a f'ing VAT of wine, maybe 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide, weighing what, a ton? They were suggesting this wedding party...hoisted up a one ton vat of wine...and...since they were all still there, at the wedding....hid it...in the woods? Did what with it? It was such a ludicrous accusation we didn't even know how to respond. (The workers found it - obviously - mislabeled in the wrong area of the cellar.) Those are the facts. But honestly, say we DID leave a huge mess of clothes in the cellar. Say we DID sneak a flask on the dance floor and pass around 4 ounces of whiskey. Say we...ok, we wouldn't steal a 1 ton vat of wine...but say we stole a bottle from storage and had a toast with it. That would all be wrong of course, and maybe they'd fine us and force more money from us...but you would tap the bride on the shoulder on the dance floor of her wedding to tell her? To step over her wedding dress and threaten to kick everyone out? Come on. Have a little common sense. Don't EVER risk having an important occasion for yourself or someone you love here. The experience at this winery was an absolute delight! We were welcomed by easy parking, a well setback location which felt exclusive, as well as a really fantastic server named Jack. We enjoyed the wines very much and the experience was very safe and felt like a comfortable experience. We did not feel like we needed to leave because another reservation was arriving. The grounds were beautiful, which made for some lovely photos! Also, in our group, we had one person who joined the wine club, which speaks for the quality of the wine! Overall, it was a really great experience, not only because of the wine, but also because of our server Jack, who was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and overall made our experience really great. This is truly my favorite winery near Portland, Oregon. It is about an hour plus drive from Portland, proper though. This winery is located west, outside of McMinnville, so potentially a far drive (but hey Mac is a booming city! They have a plethora of restaurants that make the drive worthwhile). But, once you arrive on the grounds, it is expansive, how far the vines stretch on the estate. ANd, the building is gorgeous, if I wasn't married already, this is where I would choose to have a ceremony! It's a fun un-pretentious spot to check out the expansive tasting room and enjoy the wines, or walk around outside and relax on their patio. I believe, the winemaker and the history of the estate is Persian, so it has a slightly different style than other comparable Pinot Noirs in the region. Last time I was there I bought a half case of wine from the winery, they are all really amazing. I loved the Jamsheed! ANd, I surprised myself by selecting the sparking rose' but the winemaker did an exquisite job with that wine, and it's always nice to expand palates and try new things. I recommend this winery to check out and tour for the estate, and also to enjoy the wine, it tastes really good! read more

This is one of those wineries that's a little further out (if you're coming from Portland), but definitely worth the extra mileage. They have an impressive brand-new tasting room, in fact I don't think it's all the way finished at the time of writing, with a covered parking area. In the West Valley where it rains even more than in Portland, being able to walk from car to wine without getting soaked is a nice touch. The people are extremely cool; the family that owns the winery has been working in the tasting room every time I've visited. Their wines seem to be mainly Pinot Noir and Syrah. I love their 3 Degrees Pinot and it is easily the cheapest Pinot around at this level of quality. I'm a big fan of the Jamsheed as well. They have a Syrah (called Mitra, I think) that is nothing short of exquisite, but naturally it's kind of spendy so I'll save that for a special occasion. Maysara seems to have something for about every budget and taste, and the Momtazi family are very welcoming, so I'll be coming back to the tasting room every chance I get. read more

Just outside of McMinnville, Oregon, we were in a great looking valley and stopped by Maysara Vineyards. The countryside is really good looking, and up the hill we went to the wine warehouse and the tasting room. The tasting room is really nice. We met up with the owner's daughter for the pinot tasting, and she told us the story of their wines. We actually met all 3 daughters over the weekend. We feel that drive to the valley where the winery is, is worthwhile. Another winery, Coeur de Terre Vineyard is close by too. And the pinot wine is pretty good ! read more

Overwhelming disappointing! In celebration of my daughters 21st birthday we made reservations a couple weeks in advance to do wine tasting. When we arrived we were directed by signs that led us past a DUMPY lawn mower/equipment shed and followed signs to park near broken down trucks, equipment and a warehouse looking building. I thought, how could this be the same winery we see everywhere on Instagram and Facebook. That's because it wasn't. We sat at some dumpy tables under a filthy tent/tarp. I was told it was due to a private event! Wow! Really? You couldn't have told me that when I booked the tasting that you were going to stick us behind some run down shack! Misleading, disappointing, and falsely advertised. Then when I told them that we did t want the charcuterie they said basically tough luck so we were stuck paying for it. I will never go back and if you plan on going there make sure you ask them if they plan on sticking you behind their tool sheds! read more

From the spacious dressing room for the bridal party, to the lawn perfect for the ceremony, to the unique and flexible reception area, Maysara and its staff created a memorable day.
