Spinach, Artichoke & Goat Cheese Frittata had a tad bit too much artichoke than necessary
Quin B.

I had breakfast in Crystal Lake at Benedicts on a Saturday afternoon. Service and the food were cool. I had veggie quiche with spinach, tomato, cheddar, and broccoli. This quiche was standard compared to other ones I've had in the past. A rich buttery flaky crust would have helped out tremendously. The breakfast potatoes were great. They were well seasoned, savory, and crispy. I tried the spinach, artichoke, and goat cheese frittata. It had a lot more artichoke than necessary because of the briny saltiness of it all. I'm sure this wasn't fresh artichoke. Other than that, the frittata would have been very good. Besides the miss steps, I think the menu had a few more offerings worth trying.

bruschetta red pepper goat cheese. very good, filling of course.

One of our favorite weekend breakfast spots! We like to bike there on the weekends and enjoy a fresh coffee and their delicious Smoked Salmon Benedict with a side of berries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is always friendly, and we never have trouble finding a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Downtown Crystal Lake can get busy during fall events, so it's worth checking the festival schedule before you go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Lemon Zest Pancakes

My husband and I went on a Saturday morning. We sat outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The temperature with the heaters on was comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service wasn't great and I think part of the problem was that the servers were covering tables inside and outside so they weren't around when we needed something and felt we had to wait a while for requests. The food was good. The lemon zest pancakes are delicious but I needed to ask for more sauce. My husband had the breakfast quesadilla and said it was good. We got a side of sausage and got 2 links and felt the price was too high for what we got. I am not sure we will be back because the prices are high and food choices don't match our preferences.

A local gem in the heart of Crystal Lake! Benedict's La Strata has quickly become one of my go-to spots, and it's easy to see why it's a favorite among locals. The breakfast and lunch menu is both creative and consistently delicious, with something for everyone whether you're in the mood for a classic comfort dish or something a little more unique. The service is always incredibly fast and friendly, which makes it a great option whether you're grabbing a quick bite or catching up with friends. Speaking of friends, whenever I have visitors in town, this is always where I take them for lunch and it never disappoints. My personal favorite? The Chicken & Pear with Brie sandwich it's packed with flavor and always hits the spot. And don't even think about skipping the fresh potato salad it's a must. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a cute bakery and coffee shop right across the street, which adds to the charm and convenience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by and exploring the menu you'll definitely want to come back.

I wanna like this place so bad. I've been here three times and unfortunately, I have been disappointed every single time. First, I got the grilled cheese Benedict, the Benedict with the fillets and this time I got the chicken pot pie. When the pie came out eight minutes after I ordered, I knew it was gonna be a problem. It looked beautiful, but the bread on top was a hard Croissant like thing... The inside of the chicken pot pie was OK. Some of the chicken was good, other pieces were a lil tough like cooked too long. I would say 3/4 of the items inside of the pot pie was potatoes. Maybe a total of eight peas, little to no carrots or celery. It was overall just really disappointing. The server also didn't even tell me her name. She was nice but gave no recommendations.

Located in downtown Crystal Lake, this was a great stop for late breakfast/early lunch. Restaurant is cozy and offers inside or outdoor (enclosed patio) seating. The menu is extensive. I had a delicious avocado, tomato and Gruyère cheese sandwich on fresh harvest wheat bread. My companion had light, fluffy crepes with fresh strawberries. Service was great and the food was very good.

I actually had to spit the bite taken out..

Not worth the visit or order. Ordered pancakes that were burnt beyond recognition and tasted like cardboard. Skillets were lacklacking in flavor, with ingredients that seemed thrown together haphazardly. Won't be trying again!

A delicious Ultimate Breakfast Casserole it's seasonal and back by popular demand !! So glad I got this ! Amazing

The food was absolutely delicious. The only things ive tried and not liked were the peking chicken…read more(wrap things?) (too saucy....) and the pierogis (not enough flavor and too oily, but not at fault of kitchen staff). The menu has tons of variety too, and their specials change out so regularly i cant keep up! The drinks ive gotten there have been phenomenal so far, and the mocktails dont make you feel like youre missing out on any fun. In addition to the Food, the service is positively delightful. Our server last time i went was also the bartender, and the other staff were kind enough to step in and help him with our orders, and he himself was more than helpful enough. The interior of the resturaunt was beautiful with wonderful lighting and a very cohesive layout, but i do have two complaints: the tables are very small and the booths are very low. When you order at a tapas resturaunt, you dont really get just one or two plates at a time, and when a solid quarter of the table is being occupied by the standup menus, the water glass, and the decorative flowers, it gets crowded very quickly. Overall a 9/10. Definitely a wonderful place to go with friends, family, or even on your own!

I have been meaning to post this for awhile…read more I sadly only have bad things to say.... First! The girls they hire to work here can be VERY rude, the food is not great, I think this is really just a place people get together and drink at so the environment isn't very relaxing. The couple times I've been here there is always loud drunk people.

He picked the French onion soup and for 99 cents more you can get it baked... so he did. He loved the soup and would definitely order that again. He didn't really care for the taste of the sauce and the texture of the chicken. He would order something else next time. It was supposed to come with bread but we had to ask for it. I ordered the 2 pancakes with 2 eggs over easy. It was delicious and I would order it again. All the desserts look so delicious. We ordered a square of chocolate peanut butter fudge but it was not very good. Definitely don't recommend it. It was sweet and rich and could have used a little sea salt sprinkled on the top. Definitely did not taste like peanut butter... maybe more of a maple syrupy taste. We will be back again. They have special senior daily dinners too for people over 65 so if you're a senior you may want to dine here. Our waitress was kind and kept asking us if we needed anything.
