Nice family resturant open since 1980 so you know it's good if it's been around this long. the place is very cozy I really enjoyed my veggie skillet and cinnamon swirl pancakes they were super light and fluffy. service was fast and pleasant. They even have a senior special meal which I saw a lot of seniors coming in and enjoying as the meal comes with a soup or salad and dessert for 13.99. Def will be back again totally worth it

This was the new restaurant of the week on my get out of town weekend since it's finally getting nice out. This is one of those Greek vibe style restaurants that looked relatively modern and clean. The hostess was very friendly and oddly seated me right in front of the hostess/register counter when there was plenty of secluded spots open. I started with a Bloody Mary spicy which was disappointing because it was in a plastic mug with a huge space in the bottom and it was small for a mug so I felt like I was getting ripped off for $9 and it had a terrible garnish of two olives only. It was not spicy at all and average at best. I'm a sucker for country fried steak so that's what I ordered with white toast. The country fried steak looked good with three eggs. The white toast was noticeably larger and more dense than the average white toast and more on the bakery side which was buttered, thank you. The eggs were perfect sunny side up. The hash browns were shredded and perfect golden brown. The country fried steak was also golden brown with a crispy shell topped with country gravy that tasted how you would imagine country gravy should taste. Overall it was a solid breakfast but the Bloody Mary left a bad taste in my mouth when the water plastic cup was bigger plus price vs size vs lack of toppings compared to other places and I do them all over the country.

Combo plate appetizer: Onion rings, potato skins, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks

Absolutely lovely…read more Located on the Main Square of Woodstock, IL, this cafe serves breakfast and lunch in a warm, welcoming space. Our waitress tells us the business previously at this location got a make over when participating in a foodnetwork TV show. Sweet. The decor is earthy colors with wood on the walls, fun signs, comfortable booths and tables for groups. Highchairs are available for your tiny family members. A hostess will seat you with menus and flatware wrapped in a napkin. Salt, pepper, sugar, creamer, jelly, syrup, ketchup and hot sauces are on the table. One side of the menu is breakfast, the other lunch. We were asked right away if we would like coffee. The staff here are all very nice and welcoming. Different members of staff came around to all tables several times during our stay refilling coffees as needed. Our waitress checked in on us a couple of times and actually stopped at the table to be sure we had all we needed, not just running past. We both ordered breakfast and the portions are generous. I had the Irish Bene and they don't skimp on the smoked salmon! The eggs were poached well, a generous amount of spinach and the potato pancake is tasty and light. I very much enjoyed their coffee. Strong, hot and smooth. Not at all bitter. Yay. Two remodled, single-person restrooms are at the back of the restaurant where you'll also find hooks for your coat. A diaper station is in the ladies room. The restaurant has two window walls letting in the sun light. On-street parking is free. If we lived here this would be our breakfast place!

Love this diner, clean and pretty right next to the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple. Thus, you can go…read moreto the temple and remind yourself that all suffering stems from desire and that we should have compassion for all life then walk half a block and work up a desire for sausage and biscuits thus negating the inner peace you just stepped into. It would be really fundamentally incorrect to describe their sausage and biscuits as Nirvana in the Buddhist sense, but the dish is very good and so is the coffee. Most tables have a good view of the town square featured in "Groundhog Day," and the diner is next door to a nice indie bookstore.

On Sat & Sun mornings we walked up to the Inn to enjoy breakfast with the Inn's guests, and take in all of the "Groundhog Day" movie memorabilia. The full breakfasts provided by George and Rey (Rey is also the gardener, and she has created some truly lovely spaces around the Inn: lovely flowers, 2 koi ponds, scattered seating areas) were absolutely delicious with all kinds of breakfast items like pancakes, quiche, bacon, eggs, biscuits and gravy, potato waffles, fresh berries, melon, strawberries, yogurt, granola, bread pudding and more. The guesthouse and the Inn are walking distance to the Woodstock Square and we enjoyed the farmer's market & brick and mortar stores for some retail therapy. Live music on the square on Friday night, too. We had a great girls' weekend!

We drove up and the propriatress was chatting with neighbors. She greeted us and when we asked if it was OK to take photos of the outside. . . she have us a tour of the inside! Wow, that was unexpected! Super warm and friendly owner, the Inn has many of it's original features including wood floors, lighting fixtures, coal burning fireplaces, stained glass, and more. It also boasts a beautiful new kitchen and glorious gardens including milk weed for the Monarch Butterflies which have been rapidly decreasing in numbers in recent years. So yay! She has a small shop of movie themed items and a museum cabinate of movie props. We were told about the filming pricess at the inn and told about plans for the gardens. A lovely Bed and Breakfast, if you find yourself in Woodstock, IL, check on availability. Stay where Phil Conners 'stayed'.
