Called, talked with Shaterra and she would not consider my difficulty in having to cancel. A good business owner would have at least given back part of deposit. This is wrong. I cancelled in plenty of time for her to schedule someone else. I understood if I cancelled 48 hours before appointment,-- which I did - -I would get deposit back. I have used other permanent cosmetic companies, and no deposit was ever required. No "punishment" for cancelling either. Terrible policy and unwavering owner to not give MY money back. Do not understand all the positive reviews. Would never use this company.

Whenever I get a new do, I try to be excited, though I will say I don't like to get my hair cut. It's always a challenge to communicate clearly with a stylist. Sigh, again, I didn't do well on my part. In full disclosure, I will admit that when I'm shocked at hair results, I usually feign that I like it and always end up tipping well, one because I'm in shock and two because I want to believe that I will like it; just give it time. Time lasted until I got home. I chose highlights, even selecting the color. Eeks.... As soon as I got home, I recolored as it just looked awful on my complexion. Yes, I count on a good stylist to advise better on what will look good on my complexion and what won't. The cut? Sigh... I made the mistake of saying I would like to grow it out. I didn't mean to not reshape it; especially since I've been guilty of chopping on it over time. She barely, and I mean barely touched it with scissors; not even a general overall 1/4 inch cut; just cut it in places and texturized it. Well, a bad haircut going in is now getting a chance to grow out as a longer bad haircut. I came home and after recoloring, restyled it and it doesn't lay nicely in the back -- a good haircut would/should have and the sad thing is it used to several cuts ago. The entire color/highlights/brow wax/cut/style took 1.5 hours. I wish I could be happy with that but maybe it should have taken longer; it always has before, but oh, yeah... that was with a haircut in there. Sigh... it's back to the drawing board with the search for a stylist and how to communicate with them and what expectations to have.

After seeing the same few people from my old city for years, it was unsettling to have to find someone new.... I am VERY particular about my hair. I have very long, thick, curly and often unruly hair which is difficult to manage. Also, I went from over highlighted in the summer to dark which was not going well. I went to two salons in Dayton prior to going to Bello and was sorely disappointed with both. I found EMILY at Bello by luck, or chance, or maybe just a blessing!! Emily made me feel comfortable as soon as I arrived and it felt like I was with an old friend! I hate when you go to a salon and the sytlist either doesn't speak to you or you can tell they are faking their niceness (haha). Emily was definitely not that way and we hit it off immediately. She asked me what I wanted to do but also offered her own advice for what would work the best (color wise) -- My color is PERFECT!! Also, I won't just let anyone cut my hair (because it's so long and some people get scissor happy!) but I trusted her and she gave me an amazing cut! She also waxed my eyebrows the day of my appointment (also very happy with outcome). I cannot begin to explain how happy I am with Emily! And have received sooooo many compliments on my hair only just two days after my appointment! I HIGHLY recommend Emily at Bello. I will not go anywhere else after finding her and I promise. if you have any sense of humor whatsoever, you will enjoy your time spent there! The day of, she was on time and ready to go! She took time on every single girl to make sure it was perfect. When I went there it was 1:58pm, I waited in lobby since she told me that she would come to "greet" me there. She didn't come out, so I sent the following text at exactly 2pm, that means I was on time. Once she got my text she came out and took me in. she talks a lot and most of them are about telling me how extraordinary she is vs others. My problem started after the cut (she didn't even cut however much I told her to cut). She said curly hair should never be washed before the cut but should be after the cut. So, she started washing my hair, but the chair did not have something that supports the neck. So, my neck started hurting, she told me to stretch my legs forward to support my neck. I did but it didn't help. I clenched my teeth and tried to tolerate the pain. It didn't help so asked her it is really hurting then she put a towel to support my neck. She said she has a client that is 92 years old and "when she can tolerate that we should be able to tolerate it" and took off the towel to wash with water. Anyway, after excruciating pain for about 20 minutes, I was done. It was time to pay, I asked her how much is it? She said $90 and said normally it is $80 but since you came late, I am charging you extra 10. I was flabbergasted to hear that a simple (mine is short hair) will cost so much (never paid more than 45 in my life). She stood right beside me, very close breathing on my neck, and gave me the machine to input, and told me "Tip" so I had to put 18% tip. Everything together costed me 112.50 or something like that because she never sent me the bill. I was so devastated that I couldn't even think straight, I just paid 112.50ish for simple haircut. I couldn't sleep the whole night. When I got up this morning that is 4th October my neck was hurting and couldn't turn my neck, and it was bruised and swollen. The pain caused me to have a fever. Now I have a fever and my neck hurts. I believe this lady is so unfair with the pricing and she doesn't even have a proper chair for the customers. Today is dec 18th, so I can tell that I had neck pain for 2 weeks and couldn't drive for a week. Luckily I work from home so managed somehow.

Afterwards, I was only charged for the half price Brazilian so I'm guessing the underarm wax was comped due to my 45 minute wait. But leaving D's chair, I had this weird gold/orange colored highlights. But the color wasn't the worst part, it was the fact that the left side of my head had significantly more color on it then the right side. And the cut was longer on the right side with chunks randomly. I was embarrassed to say the least to have people see my hair in the "condition" it was in. Now let's get into why Heather is amazing!! Heather spent time going over what I wanted (looking at the inspo pics), talking about colors-shades of red, she explained what she could do during the appointment and what we could do in future appointments, etc. She took her time, never made me feel rushed or like a burden. but what really stood out to me is she wanted to make sure I was happy with the plan and taken care of and reassured me that I'd be leaving with hair that id feel confident about.
