    U-pick flowers
    Jasmine S.

Went to experience the u pick flowers. There was a vast variety to choose from. They do supply you with some shears. So you're able to cut the flowers without damaging them. It is pretty much go at your own pace, and there is no time limit on how long you can be in the fields. If you have any questions about how to get to a certain area or any of the other activities on the farm, the employees are more than welcoming and happy to help. The price you pay is a great value for a nice day out and enjoying some weather and bringing home a few flowers.

Zinnias on a hot sunny day

I wanted to check out a sunflower patch and found this place in Minooka. I thought the entrance fees of $12 per person for ages 3 and up was steep for what the farm had to offer. Beautiful sunflowers and zinnias and with the entry fee, you get clippers to find a flower of your choice to bring home. Other attractions were a corn bin for kids, hay maze and a soybean maze and a big slide that was a huge hit. Overall a family friendly farm, everyone was very friendly, just wish the price matched a little more of the attractions you would get.

We visited Heap's over Labor Day weekend and it was a great, relaxing family-friendly experience. I think kids aged 10 and under will especially enjoy this place. It's cool that they let you pick one flower to take home with the purchase of each ticket. For $20 they provide a small bucket that you can fill up with your own hand-picked bouquet. The staff here were all very friendly and welcoming. I bought our tickets on their website, which was $12 per adult plus a $1 processing fee. They recommended guests buy tickets ahead of time but I think it's totally fine to buy the tickets at the entrance since there really wasn't a line to get in. People come and go throughout the day and I think 2 hours is plenty of time to enjoy all that the property has to offer. They have a truly breathtaking display of the tallest sunflowers I've ever seen and the most beautiful zinnias. Birds, bees and butterflies happily dance amongst the plants. We also spotted some turkeys and chickens. Since we came early in the season, their pumpkins weren't yet on full display but they had an area by their corn field where they were already piling up lots of pumpkins, some varieties of which I had never seen before. It is extremely bright and hot when the sun's out so remember to bring your own shade of choice and plenty of water!

Went for the Sunflower field but we were one weekend too late but were told there was nothing from keeping us to go look at it. There still were plenty of sunflowers. $10 to go look around maybe could've been a little less for people without kids. I thought it was a good deal for parents with kids though. There was a lot there for them to do. Couple of cute farm animals too. Very good pricing for pumpkins and a big variety. Bought some weird looking ones!

I took my son here tonight so that we could enjoy a fun, ghoulish evening! I purchased the combo online which included the haunted maze, flashlight maze, & moonlight hayride . We truly enjoyed ourselves and the wait wasn't too bad. I recommend you dress in layers, hat/gloves, flashlight for the maze and comfy shoes. Lots of walking , fresh air and fun. Staff was friendly, no touch policy and awesome actors . They did have food drinks for purchase but we were exhausted and had a 50 minute drive home . The haunted maze should be for 12/14 and up and everything else is small child friendly . Definitely would recommend this farm and I look forward to going for more events they have !

We went there with the kids today and will be back every year! We might even go back one more time before the season ends! The price is reasonable and the attractions were really fun, but not "too much". We did the corn maze and loved how there were signs to find throughout to keep it interesting, the giant slide was fun for kids and adults, the Hay bale climbing area and corn pits and GIANT CASTLE/SHIP playground were fun for the little kids, and there were some animals to see as well. I absolutely loved that the pumpkins were U-pick so that we could see all of them growing on the vine! It made the pictures way better to have all the greenery mixed in with the pumpkins as well! We'll done!

We decided to check out Heaps for some safe outdoor family fun during all the craziness of Covid. While they say masks are required unless you are able to keep 6 feet AND that they are limiting the number of guests I found both to be untrue. NO ONE wore a mask. And I understand it's hard to control guests, when it was brought the owners attention she pretty much told us she didn't care and that they are "family friendly". Well if by family friendly you mean families that aren't too happy with the mask policy then yep they are friendly to those families and those only. If you don't care too much about the masks, which is your choice, then this is the pumpkin farm for you. If you are like me and ARE practicing social distancing and wearing a mask to protect yourselves and your family this is NOT the place for you.

We wanted to try a new place for our pumpkin patch this year and I'm glad we stopped by. You go on the hayride but then you get out to pick your own pumpkin. It was so awesome. Wear good shoes And bring gloves to go pumpkin picking. I couldn't believe how much it pricked my hands. The mums were huge and very affordable as well ! The pumpkin prices are by far the cheapest that I have ever seen, good quality to. The wait was not that long everyone had a great time. I would definitely recommend this as a quick little fun family get away. The price for everything was $8 per person to enjoy the hayrides , the castle etc. It is a little hike to get there but it's definitely worth taking the family and picking out your own pumpkins.

Most of the things here are free. Pumpkins that you can pick are at very reasonable prices. Food and drinks are at reasonable prices too as well as other merchandise and other fall related things that go on here. They had a corn maze that I did not check out at all. Visiting the animals was probably one of my favorite things at the farm. It's not jam-packed like a lot of the popular locations. The only downside I would say was that the staff is a little bit untrained especially when it comes to money handling since the one cashier when I was paying for pumpkins didn't know how to count cash even though I gave him exact change. Overall, you should not pass up on this place at all. 4.5 Stars

They have a huge play area with wooden structures such as a school bus, fire truck, and castle. My young girls enjoyed the pretend play on the vehicles and going on the slides. There is also a section with huge stacks that are perfect for climbing and taking group pictures. Some things to take note of: 1) There is a section with plenty of port-a-potties. We were there in the morning so the port-a-potties were all relatively clean and unused. 2) The food section isn't that big but service is quick. We tried the cheese pizza, poor boy, pork chop on a stick, cheeseburger, and donuts. We would definitely order the poor boy, a cube steak sandwich, and pork chop again. They did an excellent job with grilling the meats and both had a nice sear while retaining moisture. The donuts were mini-size and came in baker's dozen so it was easy for our young girls to dig in.

Boy boi did it surprise me. Crowds: they limit tickets into their farm meaning it doesn't feel like you stepped into Disney land with insane crowds. Busy enough to feel exciting but not where you're bumping into people left and right. Cornmaze: the HIGHLIGHT of our visit. This isn't any ordinary corn maze. They have an entire scavenger hunt that connects to their app. So you have to find 14 question and scan the QR code to answer. If you find all 14 (it's a hunt) and get all the questions right you're entered into a raffle. We had SO much and found all 14. It was such a fun bonding experience for our family. Pumpkins, mums, and more: the pumpkins and mums felt very reasonably priced. And the mums were HUGE and healthy compared to getting them at the big stores. We also enjoyed some hot cocoa, hot apple cider and kettle corn. All delicious. Animals: I'm an animal activist and reduce to visit places where animals are forced to provide entertainment. This place had a petting zoo but didn't allow kids inside and there was no actual animals rides. Thank you Kroll's. We ended our trip with the hay ride which was also a treat and perfect way to relax before leaving. So stop what you're doing and pay them a visit! The cutest pumpkin patch

*PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE DAVE IS AN ACTUAL CREEP!*…read more Our neighbors and our family had started a tradition 4 years ago to take our families here to do the hay ride and purchase pumpkins and other things from Dave's pumpkin farm. We all got pumpkins, bales of hay, straw brooms and the like. Dave has no cashier and relies on an app to pay for purchases. This night his app was not working and we told him this. We kept trying. As we left, and still trying to get on the app. We got home and started unloading. And still trying to get on the app. It was night time and a truck pulls up across the street from me and sat there. I could not see into the truck and did not know who it was. I screamed out to the driver and said, who are you are you ok? I decided to call the police because I thought maybe it was somebody drunk and pulled over or he had car problems. Well, once the police arrived we found out it was Dave! He followed us home! He said we stole 300 pumpkins, which we only had about 15-20. The police told us he has a history of doing this, following people home that he feels did not pay enough. Now I have 2 little ones with me, 6 and 7. He is telling the police he wants us arrested! The police came back over to us and said "listen this guy is weird and off his rocker, have you got the app working yet"? It was not. My wife said listen... we can Zelle him for the pumpkins since the app is not working. The police said" we doubt he has Zelle, right now he is just rambling on that he wants you guys arrested but that is not going to happen because we believe you guys". The police officer said he has a Square on his phone where it can be paid through that device. So my wife walked over with the officer to Dave's truck. The total we knew was $126. Dave said just pay $119 because he could not figure out the taxes. According to the police, Dave has a history of doing this! He ruined our tradition and our kids are upset that this happened. The whole ordeal was about 2 hours long and our night was ruined! Now our whole tradition is ruined because we will not go back there where a stalker could just show up to your house! *STAY AWAY PLEASE BECAUSE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS BEFORE AND WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN AGAIN!*

To me, dunking on a small business is usually 'no bueno', but after two visits to Johansen's fall petting zoo I find myself wondering "THIS is what we paid for??" Very few things are truly free these days, and I get that, but admission to Johansen's does not fall in the realm of good value. Located along Boughton Rd in Bolingbrook, Johansen's is open during the spring/summer as a nursery and farm (April-July), during autumn as a pumpkin patch, and briefly in the winter to sell Christmas trees. On busy weekends in October, police have a lane blocked off to shepherd traffic in & out of the parking lot. On that note, parking is free, thankfully, as is walking around their pumpkin patch. I saw a review from 2017 - a mere seven years ago - that mentions admission was $13.50. It's nearly doubled since that time! $23 allows you to feed the goats, enjoy a small corn maze, hayride, a "train" (actually just a bumpy trailer pull with tiny, uncomfortable carriages), and rinky-dink mini golf. Kids have to be 42" to bounce on the myriad inflatables, however, anyone over 2yo is full price. How many 2-4 year olds have you met that are 42" tall?? Apart from Kareem Abdul Jabbar's kids, how about NONE. I'm sure Johansen's knows this, so they're screwing plenty of people with this sneaky little exploit. The pumpkin patch is nice; we found an orange specimen that was a solid 9/10, with everyone in my group agreeing it was the roundest and most picturesque gourd they'd seen in a long time. Apple cider donuts are decent and you can buy hot cider at their bake shop counter. * TL;DR * Johansen's fall festivities are cute, though you get shockingly little for the money. You'll have to pay full price for your 3-year-old, but due to height restrictions on their bouncy houses, they won't be able to go in. Adults aren't allowed on inflatables, ditto for the ponies. In fact, grown-ups will spend most of their time standing around, which I can do for free at home (or literally anywhere else). Oh, but don't despair, as you can join their fanclub for a whopping $1 off general admission! *sprays confetti* gee, thanks guys! My wife likes them because they're local, but sorry honey, I'm done-zo with Johansen's. We'll take our annual (free) picture on the hay bales, but if it's my money we're spending, next year we're making the trip to Bengtson's.
