$9 entrance fee on weekdays, we stopped by on an October Monday and it was actually a little busier than expected with a few bus loads of kids on field trips. Sadly their food stand wasn't open but they did have some snacks at the cashier area. We came by just to look around and give our doggo a chance to explore the pumpkin patch which he loved (dog-friendly, on-leash). He had the time of his life sniffing all the different pumpkins. For kiddos they have a couple different play areas, may be worth it more for younger ones. There are some photo opportunities with their giant pumpkin and wooden painted cut outs. Very cute farm. We went for the sunflower fest, if you missed picking flowers this summer, they are still available at this location. Opening weekend was this weekend, I liked the giant castle and the ship, the large corn house was really awesome. Chickens running around free range, really cool. I did not see a jumping ball thing my kids love those, the giant slide was amazing, I loved the wooden train as well. I don't know what it will look like when it's officially fall but I plan to return. Everyone on the farm was nice, locally sourced meats for the grill, mini apple cider donuts and these great cans of beverages from a company called tractor. I don't know if the price will change for fall it was $12 entry, kids 2 and under free, $16 to pick flowers in a small mason jar, $24 bucket, larger buckets up to $32. read more

Went to experience the u pick flowers. There was a vast variety to choose from. They do supply you with some shears. So you're able to cut the flowers without damaging them. It is pretty much go at your own pace, and there is no time limit on how long you can be in the fields. If you have any questions about how to get to a certain area or any of the other activities on the farm, the employees are more than welcoming and happy to help. The price you pay is a great value for a nice day out and enjoying some weather and bringing home a few flowers. read more

I wanted to check out a sunflower patch and found this place in Minooka. I thought the entrance fees of $12 per person for ages 3 and up was steep for what the farm had to offer. Beautiful sunflowers and zinnias and with the entry fee, you get clippers to find a flower of your choice to bring home. Other attractions were a corn bin for kids, hay maze and a soybean maze and a big slide that was a huge hit. Overall a family friendly farm, everyone was very friendly, just wish the price matched a little more of the attractions you would get. read more

We visited Heap's over Labor Day weekend and it was a great, relaxing family-friendly experience. I think kids aged 10 and under will especially enjoy this place. It's cool that they let you pick one flower to take home with the purchase of each ticket. For $20 they provide a small bucket that you can fill up with your own hand-picked bouquet. The staff here were all very friendly and welcoming. I bought our tickets on their website, which was $12 per adult plus a $1 processing fee. They recommended guests buy tickets ahead of time but I think it's totally fine to buy the tickets at the entrance since there really wasn't a line to get in. People come and go throughout the day and I think 2 hours is plenty of time to enjoy all that the property has to offer. They have a truly breathtaking display of the tallest sunflowers I've ever seen and the most beautiful zinnias. Birds, bees and butterflies happily dance amongst the plants. We also spotted some turkeys and chickens. Since we came early in the season, their pumpkins weren't yet on full display but they had an area by their corn field where they were already piling up lots of pumpkins, some varieties of which I had never seen before. It is extremely bright and hot when the sun's out so remember to bring your own shade of choice and plenty of water! read more

This is a smaller pumpkin patch/farm, but worth it for younger kids. It costs $12 to get in which isn't bad. They have a lot of attractions for kids of all ages. My 2.5 year old enjoyed the corn pit and large slide the most. We did not get a chance to see or pet the animals or some of the other attractions on the way to the big slide. We spent two hours there, but could have stayed longer if we didn't have to go home for a nap. Even towards the end of the season (mid Oct) they still had many pumpkins for purchase (not sure how the patch looked). We will be going back next year! read more

Went for the Sunflower field but we were one weekend too late but were told there was nothing from keeping us to go look at it. There still were plenty of sunflowers. $10 to go look around maybe could've been a little less for people without kids. I thought it was a good deal for parents with kids though. We had so much fun at Heap's! There was so much to do! Kids under 3 years old are free, otherwise it's $10 for general admission which includes all of the activities. Definitely check out the website before you come. For adults without kids, it might not be worth it. If you are in the area, it would be worth stopping by but not if it's a long drive. You don't have to pay admission if you aren't doing any of the activities (can access the general store or purchase food). Activities: Pumpkin patch - great for pictures or picking out a pumpkin. They have huge pumpkins to take pictures with. Really cute with little ones. Corn maze Bean maze Large slide- watch out the friction will give you an electric shock at the end. Fun though and the kids loved it! Wood castle playground - huge playground. Wood train - hit with the kids to crawl/run through Haystacks and corn bins for kids to play in/on - My 16 month old son loved this! Petting zoo - no feeding but That's ok. There was a calf out in the sun. It did look underfed, hot and sad. I'm not sure why it was by itself in the sun or if calf's are normally in the sun. It just looked malnourished, could have been newly born though so I don't want to assume. Other animals looked fine! Snacks/food- too areas for food. One area is more snacks (nachos/pretzel). I enjoyed my standard pretzel with cheese. The pumpkin cookie was good too! General store- great pumpkin offering. Most pumpkins were $8. They offered a large assortment of colored pumpkins. I was able to get a brown, green, and yellow squash/pumpkin. They also seem haystacks. Staff was friendly! I think they need a bigger sign leading to their location. We missed the entrance because the sign is right when you turn into the parking lot and you won't see it as you are driving Up due to trees and the higher speed limit. It's a pain in the butt to turn around (I'm sure the locals hate it) and there isn't two entrances. read more

This place is great. Our kids are age 3-7, and there were a lot of activities for them. I almost chose a different pumpkin patch with a higher yelp rating, but I'm very glad that we went to Heap's. There is so much to do and it is inexpensive. Is the fourth pumpkin patch we've been to over the past four years. I took my son here tonight so that we could enjoy a fun, ghoulish evening! I purchased the combo online which included the haunted maze, flashlight maze, & moonlight hayride . We truly enjoyed ourselves and the wait wasn't too bad. I recommend you dress in layers, hat/gloves, flashlight for the maze and comfy shoes. Lots of walking , fresh air and fun. Staff was friendly, no touch policy and awesome actors . They did have food drinks for purchase but we were exhausted and had a 50 minute drive home . The haunted maze should be for 12/14 and up and everything else is small child friendly . Definitely would recommend this farm and I look forward to going for more events they have ! read more

Went for sunflower fest 8/27/2022 (Saturday). We went in 2021 and we found the garden layout beautiful (photo ops galore) so we went again this year. This year, we did not enjoy it much. Regarding Heap's Haunted Corn Maze it BEATS most haunted houses as you're in near complete pitch dark. As you walk by the stalks of corn seems like anyone can be hiding somewhere and pop out and the sound of stalks moving gets you good. Great hiding spots, cool interacting by actors, and fun ending! We went there with the kids today and will be back every year! We might even go back one more time before the season ends! The price is reasonable and the attractions were really fun, but not "too much". We did the corn maze and loved how there were signs to find throughout to keep it interesting, the giant slide was fun for kids and adults, the Hay bale climbing area and corn pits and GIANT CASTLE/SHIP playground were fun for the little kids, and there were some animals to see as well. I absolutely loved that the pumpkins were U-pick so that we could see all of them growing on the vine! It made the pictures way better to have all the greenery mixed in with the pumpkins as well! We LOVE Heaps Pumpkin Farm! We come every year with our besties and their children and it's a fabulous afternoon every year. There's a huge play area for the kids to climb on, a hayride out to the pumpkin patch where there's lots of photo ops and great pumpkins to choose from, a giant slide, some animals, some fun photo ops, and more. The corn maze is super fun and family friendly during the day, and spooky and interesting for even haunted house pros at night. Prices are great on everything - admission, food, pumpkins and gourds. Parking is easy, it's not a terrible drive from the western burbs, the staff are fantastic, and it's just a good old fashioned fall fun day. We'll be back year after year! read more

We decided to check out Heaps for some safe outdoor family fun during all the craziness of Covid. While they say masks are required unless you are able to keep 6 feet AND that they are limiting the number of guests I found both to be untrue. NO ONE wore a mask. And I understand it's hard to control guests, when it was brought the owners attention she pretty much told us she didn't care and that they are "family friendly". Well if by family friendly you mean families that aren't too happy with the mask policy then yep they are friendly to those families and those only. If you don't care too much about the masks, which is your choice, then this is the pumpkin farm for you. If you are like me and ARE practicing social distancing and wearing a mask to protect yourselves and your family this is NOT the place for you. read more

We LOVE Heap's! Our family has been visiting for four years, and it's exactly the type of experience our kids (4 and 1) need. We've been to other, more monstrous Pumpkin Patch type locations, and they were all FAR too overwhelming. Heap's is more our speed: home-y, compact, and fair prices. If you're looking for mums, this is the place to be early on in the Fall - their sunflower fields are also incredible! All of their "goods" for sale are super fair and great quality and you don't have to pay anything to shop - just walk on in. If you're looking for activities, the Castle is wonderful! So fun and creative with a "homemade" feel to it. That is definitely our favorite part so far with our kids. As they get older, I'm sure we'll enjoy more of the activities, but our interest time/level isn't super long...yet! We look forward to a visit or two every year! read more

We wanted to try a new place for our pumpkin patch this year and I'm glad we stopped by. You go on the hayride but then you get out to pick your own pumpkin. It was so awesome. Wear good shoes And bring gloves to go pumpkin picking. I couldn't believe how much it pricked my hands. The mums were huge and very affordable as well ! The pumpkin prices are by far the cheapest that I have ever seen, good quality to. The wait was not that long everyone had a great time. I would definitely recommend this as a quick little fun family get away. The price for everything was $8 per person to enjoy the hayrides , the castle etc. It is a little hike to get there but it's definitely worth taking the family and picking out your own pumpkins. read more

We have gone for the last two years and it's been absolutely fantastic our kids are older and they loved it too

If this had been my first ever trip to a pumpkin farm, I might have given 4 stars, because I did have a good time, but considering my father's weekly trips to a different farm, I have more discriminating tastes. First the good: Good selection of pumpkins, gourds, and squash. You can buy them from the bins or take a little hayride out into the field to pick one for yourself. The corn maze was actually tall and spooky and full of weird, gross, scary scenarios. At night they have strobe lights and creepy people jumping out. The disappointing: No cider or apples or doughnuts or any of the other things like that which I enjoy at a pumpkin farm/apple picking combo. I love that stuff and missed it here. I also missed an actual petting zoo, and frankly the animals here looked kind of sad and were in small pens. The weird: The shetland pony needed foot surgery and they were asking for $1 if you took photos of him. Are they not going to pay for it if enough people don't take a photo? Shouldn't he be resting? We have been patronizing Heap's since this was nothing more than piles of pumpkins on their front lawn. We've watched them grow every year, and now I fear they've gotten too big and forgotten they were a family business serving families. We used to pick out a wagon full of pumpkins and gourds, and it would be like maybe $15-$20 for the entire wagon. They were always the number one fall activity for my family since my kids were born. Well, that all changed today Part of our yearly tradition was always taking pictures of the kids in front of the "how tall are you" sign. We've done it ever since Heaps first got it. Our plan today was to visit, take our traditional pictures, buy our pumpkins, and head out. We already knew we wouldn't be partaking in other activities because of the pandemic. Despite covid-19 we still wanted to support Heaps rather than just get a pumpkin from the grocery store. Today we learned that the how tall are you sign is in an area where admission is required. I mean the sign is like 20' from the "gate". I explained I just wanted to take 2 pictures to the gatekeeper who said she wasn't allowed to let anyone pass. Very understandable. I went to the admissions window, and again explained my request, and again she couldn't make that call. She got her mgr, and once again I explained how we've been coming here since my kids were babies. She had no sympathy, no sorries, no thank you for your years of patronage. She was not pleasant at all. I told her that was very disappointing. No pictures unless you all purchase wristbands. At $8/ea, for a family of 4?! For a couple of pictures?! Ridiculous. If she'd asked for a donation or I buy myself a wristband, I would have. Her attitude turned me off immediately. I was ready to pack up the family and leave, but we were already there. We grabbed what is possibly the last few pumpkins we'll ever buy from there. We went to check out and our cashier was none other but the manager. Again no apologies. None. Nope. The nice thing to do would have been to share in our disappointment. Nope. Then curtly charged us $17 for 2 pumpkins. I used to get a wagon full from Heaps for that price. She didn't even wish us a happy Halloween nor wish us a good afternoon. Sorry, Heaps, but you ruined our family tradition. And I don't want to hear anything like it's 2020 nor it's because of Covid. I could not find a page for their haunted corn maze but I MUST say this is the WORST haunted corn maze I've ever been too. & I've been to plenty. Let me start off with the ticket booth, one of the girls working it had the ugliest attitude ever.. we came with our printed tickets from Groupon & her way of accepting our tickets was.. "Um what do I do with this" & handed the printed tickets to the other girl who also didn't have the greatest attitude. I understand it was cold and they were doing this every weekend but their attitude especially the first girl we approached with the upside down triangles under her eyes was RUDE. The lines: HORRIBLE! We arrived around 7:30, it opened at 7 & we only had one & half lines to go BUT there was also a "flash" line. My group & I waited TWO & HALF HOURS. Let me explain there was only one & half lines.. we were not only freezing trying not to give up & leave the place but wow! I've never been so aggravated in my life. & to top it off the corn maze was a legit 10 minutes long. This place is a night mate & a drag! Go else where people, do not go to this haunted corn maze. The Dude and I are country kids at heart (we grew up in a wonderful lil' town) so when we were invited to partake in a haunted corn maze, there was no way we could say no. Ahh, cornfields. So many memories from my youth. Wink, wink. Anyway, we joined the Dude's brother and niece for a fun night at Heap's Haunted Corn Maze. The place is out in the middle of nowhere (perfect place for a cornfield), which adds to its spookiness. We joined a short line of people waiting to get into the maze. While in line, we were entertained by a ghoul playing a clarinet (he told us the name of the tune was "Leave That Puppy Alone!"). To be honest, the corn maze wasn't as freaky as the haunted houses that the Dude and I typically frequent, but it gains major bonus points for its cool setting. If Children of the Corn didn't make you a bit leery of cornfields, Heap's will do the trick. And without giving anything away, I'll just say this: They save the best for last. What a beautiful way to celebrate the Fall Season! Coming from downtown Chicago, the drive was totally worth it. We used our Living Social coupons, and it was totally worth it. The hay ride through out the pumpkin patch, getting lost in the corn maze, and of course the pumpkin cookies. We got four pie pumpkins and three jack-o-lanterns for 15 bucks. AWESOME!! If you are a pumpkin FREAK like I am Heaps is the place to be! Every year I get a giant pumpkin and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. This year Kevin helped me pick out my 200 pound great pumpkin. I thought we were going to blow out our backs picking it up, but we managed! Also, as a pumpkin seed connoisseur I thought I knew everything there was to know on the subject. Little did I know that I was busch league, Kevin introduced me to a medium sized green/orangish pumpkin that he said was prized for it's seeds. Well, I was skeptical..... until last night when I roasted them. UNREAL! How could this be? How could I be 35 and have just found this pumpkin??? We were looking for mums, And tried Heaps. Their mums were gorgeous and HUGE! Terrific price! The two ladies there were so helpful and knowledgeable, even called the owner to get us a deal on the last purple mum left. I will definitely go again next year!! read more

With admission of $8 I didn't expect much but was further disappointed. There is not much do do here there's a small wooden park area or their "castle" that my nephew and most kids got bored of after a few minutes the animal "petting zoo" consisted of 4 tiny cages that felt so cruel with animals that looked over fed and barely moved the hayride only appeared once towards the end of our 2 hr visit and had no set schedule and was packed uncomfortably full. The crowd it seemed to attract was highly disrespectful with kids pushing people out of the way on park area and terrorizing the free roaming chickens and by passing the private property and do not cross signs ( this wasn't just one group of guest multiple different groups and just seemed to attract a bad crowd) read more

Pumpkins are well priced. Went shortly after opening so it was not busy. I appreciate that they don't charge for parking or admission. Looks like plenty of fun for children if you have 'em. Refreshing to see kids playing outside and not in front of a screen. My only issue was they would not allow us to walk out to the pumpkin patch "due to insurance liability". Six dollars for an enclosed hayride later, we had to walk all the way to the back of the patch anyway. Umm... I purchased two large and one smaller pumpkin for $19- not bad! I bought a gorgeous (HUGE!) mum plant from here earlier in the season and it was also reasonably priced. read more

I took my 3 kids to Heap's based on the glowing reviews. I have been to numerous pumpkin farms over the past 10 years and I have to say I was underwhelmed with Heap's. I will start first off with my arrival. We all had to use the restroom and all they had was a dirty, almost overflowing port a potty. I don't need to say anymore. We decided to pick pumpkins first - well, Heap's doesn't allow you to walk to the pumpkin patch - you have to take the tractor ride to the patch - $3 a person x4 of us = $12 to pick pumpkins. They may not charge admission, but they get your money in other ways. I would have given Heap's one star, but am giving it two because the patch was enormous with all different kinds of pumpkins - very impressive. The downside is, the patch is HUGE and to get the really good pumpkins you must walk a bit from where the tractor drops you off. Well, you then need to walk back, with the pumpkins and your kids, etc.. If you want to get more than one pumpkin each, forget it - how can you carry that? When I asked an employee why they don't have wheelbarrels in the pumpkin patch his reply was, "We could never have enough for everyone." Huh? That doesn't even make sense. When I was there on the weekend there were only a handful of people in the patch with me. Even 3 or 4 wheelbarrels would have been nice! We had rather large pumpkins and they had a guy riding up and down the patch on a golf cart with a little trailer. I asked him if he could take our pumpkins up to the front where we pay. He seemed annoyed and said he would take them to where the tractor picks up - meaning I have to haul them on the tractor, off the tractor, then all the way to the pay booth. What great customer service - not! We paid $3 each for the corn maze - it was bleh. It took about 20 minutes and wasn't impressive at all. We ended up spending around $60 - about $40 on pumpkins and $24 for four of us to ride to the patch and to do the corn maze. Another thing that really irritated me. They do not let you know what you will be paying for the pumpkins until you check out! There are no pricing guidelines in the pumpkin patch at all, and nobody there to help you determine how much the pumpkin will cost. I felt like the pumpkins were not cheap - I paid $6 for a fairly small pumpkin that I could have gotten at a big box store for $3. And when I asked employees for help, nobody knew there answer to any of my questions. Will never be going back to this place. read more

I brought the family to Heap's from the city, today during maybe the first weekend of the season. We picked Heap's over the other farms that are within an hour or so drive from Chicago because it doesn't charge admission. We were four adults and two kids, so other places are pretty expensive even at $10 a person. We bought the kids and one adult the $8 pass, which includes the hayride, the maze, the Heaps-of-fun barn, and the giant fort/playground thing. We bought tickets for the hayride for the other three adults. Heaps-of-fun barn: this is a temporary shelter with giant hay bales and a huge vat with corn that kids can walk in--like the farm version of Chuck E. Cheese's room of balls. It was ok overall. Hayride: this was pretty standard. They seem to run two at a time (or more/depending on demand?), so we only had to wait 15 minutes. The tractor took us to a field of pumpkins that was pretty muddy...and we had already bought our pumpkins by then, so we didn't need any more. We should have done things in the reverse order. Milo's Whatever/Playground: think giant fort with a wooden ark nearby. The kids liked this, but I wouldn't have driven an hour for this. The slides seemed fast at least. Farm animal petting: they had a small selection of animals. We saw three goats, a donkey, a pony, a potbelly pig, two very small sheep, two piglets, and a calf. Most were eager to be fed and petted, so that was good. OH!---and there were turkeys and chickens running around in one part of the farm. That was pretty cool for the kids. Pumpkin selection: they do have a good variety of pumpkins. We went later in the day, so the ones they had sitting out and ready for purchase were pretty picked over. Nevertheless, we got some weird and awesome looking ones, all a pretty good size and nothing cost more than $7. We didn't get a giant pumpkin because they were $35 or $40 each, a good price for sure, but we just didn't want to spend that much on one pumpkin. Food: this left a lot to be desired--like corn and funnel cakes or apple cider donuts. Plus, it was pretty expensive. All and all, I would come to this place again if we lived closer--if nothing else, for the pumpkins. t's pretty affordable, and I like that it's family owned. But it's an hour from us, so my quest to find something, pricewise, between the uber-fall-fest Didier and this will go on. read more

Fall 2011 experience. We used a LivingSocial deal in Sept 2011 and I will just say that we enjoyed our visit so much that I've booked my child's birthday party here this year. The staff at Heap's provided very laid-back but great service. I think their idea is that they don't want to impose on your day. However, a wonderful staff member saw me struggling with my toddler and an armful of pumpkins, she came over immediately with a wagon and helped me. We enjoyed their huge pumpkin farm. Calling this a pumpkin farm is an understatement. Calling it giant is spot on! Their pumpkin field is huge! The hayride drivers were so friendly and patient! We had a blast pulling pumpkins we wanted off the vines. We saw perfect white, green, and orange ones! This was the highlight of the entire visit! We bought hot dogs, chips and drinks. The food was good, hot, and served quickly. The hot chocolate was your typical powdered cocoa served with too much water in it. It was served hot, though. They also had a BBQ grill going for burgers. There are long picnic tables under a canopy to sit and eat. The (soy)bean maze was cute and perfect for small children. The corn maze was fun and wide enough for people to walk side by side. Finally, I cannot remember exactly how much we paid for the four pumpkins that we bought but I felt the prices were very reasonable. Fall 2012 Review We were going to have a birthday party here but changed our minds. We will be back to Heap's but only for a family outing. The only suggestion, and update to my 2011 review, is that Heap's provides further details on the Group outing/Party page on their website. There is a $25 non-refundable barn charge in addition to their party package price; and has to be paid a week in advance. This is not listed on their website. The $25 barn charge does not guarantee/secure a private rental. Heap's said that this means that anyone can still come into the barn regardless of your party going on. They do allow you to bring your own food and there are outlets in the barn. This is a review of the haunted corn maze only. I took my 12 year-old son last night. I knew it would be crowded having been such a nice day and being the last Saturday before Halloween. We waited in line for over 2 hours, but it was worth it. They do a good job of only letting a few people in at a time so that the groups don't run into the group in front of them, which is why it takes so long to get in. When it was our turn to go in, they let just the two of us in. My son of course made me go first, but the actors keyed on him and some would follow us for a while which doesn't help when you are in the rear! He was crying at one point (he's a tough-guy football player, or at least he thinks he's a tough guy!) and was grabbing my jacket so tightly that I had to pull on the front to keep from getting strangled by it. The only thing I would suggest would be to have more security/actors helping with the lines. There were a couple that would come by occasionally but with such a long wait people got bored and on a few occasions threw something that looked like plants and hit some people in the head. In closing I'd say it was worth it, but I would suggest going earlier in the Halloween season to hopefully avoid the lines. read more

What a horrible experience!!!!! They charged for admission to get in and only offered about three activities For the children to do. There were only about three animals out, no rides to the pumpkin patch, no one supervising the hay play land, no concessions, no kettle corn...... we basically paid to walk on their land. They never advertised that was what it was on Monday, Tuesday and wednesdays. When contacting them after the fact, they tried to pick about fight about refunding the money. Never again!!!!!! read more
