I've been going to Benigno's Tire X Change since the 1970's and they always delivered great tires and service. Today I went to get 4 new tires for my 06 Toyota van. As I was walking in another fella standing outside told me "Hey, Benigno's is closing". I went in the office which was still open and spoke to the guy behind the counter. I asked if I could still buy new tires there, he said yes, took my tire size and quoted me a price for 4 new tires, $140 each tire. I agreed and went to pay with my credit card he said they can't take credit cards and I would have to pay cash. I asked why, he said their credit card machine is gone. I don't carry $600.00 cash on me so, I left. Bottom line, Benigno's is closing and if you were a long time customer as I was, you will now have to find somewhere else to buy tires in the Garfield, NJ area. read more

I've never see grownups give up on a job as fast as this place, I went there for a tire change/ repair with my previous tire they took off and then they complain about not being able to take the wheel off. Brother was worried about his 300 dollar metal stick and not breaking his "back" while trying to take off my wheel. It may be worth 300 but it's not being used champ, and if your worried about your back you might have to change careers cause what's the point of coming to you guys if you want everything handed to you. Saying it's too cold so we can't do it. I guess only warm weather will work unless the princesses working there are not feeling up to it that day. They tell me to go 10 minutes out to a shop that will take it off cause they have a machine to lift the car. I decided to go local and got it patched within 10 minutes and paid 25 for the repair. Unbelievable service from this place, and I can't believe I bought tires from them smh. Never go here you'll be wasting your time. They also put one tire facing the wrong way, the "INSIDE" label for the tire was on the outward facing side of the car. read more

Recently when I had to buy new tires for my classic 1972 Oldsmobile,I was pleasantly surprised to find out they are still around . I needed a special size ( 14") that most places don't carry and with raised white lettering. After comparing with other brick & mortar shops & a few online ones, Benigno's had the best deal. Jerry ( Benigno) was great to work with. The installers outside are a nice bunch of guys. They've been doing this forever and we need to ...as a consumer...support local "mom & pop shops". Don't waste your time...I went for tire change he did 4 wheels...I got home and realize that the weights that he glued to the rim is on my driveway....I thought that would be quick and non problematic fix...no it wasn't!!!!!! He wouldn't do anything...he was blaming that the rims were dirty and if I want to have this job done write he will do it again and charge me double.....isn't that his responsibility to clean the rim before he glue the weights????? Had to share this story. My daughter goes Montclair University and has really never been on her own. When she hit a NJ pothole and popped her tire she had no idea what to do. Spare had gone flat. She was basically in trouble and imobile. We spoke to the nearest place with the best rating found on Google (I live in another state) Jerry was calm and knew what had to be done. His price was reasonable and had no surprise fees at the end. Speaking of end my daughter was happy, I am happy, and I assume Jerry was happy. I started my day searching for tried went to 3 different shops before falling onto this gem, my tires were completely shot shredding metal and everything each shop I went too looked at me like a tiny girl not knowing anything about cars ( despite rebuilding my own engine, my dad being the owner of a tow company and working as a service advisor mannager at a car dealership for years) seeing I'm in a jam trying to charge me over 150$ per tire trying to get a quick buck. Made me question why it's so hard to find honest mechanics? I came here frantic at the end of my search absolutely annoyed all the workers and they where still super nice and patient with me they charged me 95 each tire brand new put it on immediately. Sunday morning I discovered a nail in the right rear tire of my RX350. After installing the spare, I drove to Firestone in Haledon, where the manager said the tire couldn't be repaired and that he would order me a new $200+ tire. I declined, and went to Benigno this morning (Monday) where Eddie repaired the tire within 30 minutes, saving me over $200. Pete Benigno could have easily sold me a new tire, but instead, had Eddie simply perform the repair. I guess this is why they've been in business so many years. Pete is a fair and professional guy (and really funny too). He won't lie or try to rip you off plain and simple. My father and I have been coming here for years. My last in a long line of positive experiences went like this: Mechanic wanted 149.99+tax for 4 new tires, Pete wanted 125plus tax for the exact same 4 tires. Cut and dry in my opinion. I wouldn't get tires or tire service anywhere else. If so, don't go here. On the other hand, if you need new tires, a patch or other tire related issue and don't want to get raked over the proverbial coals, this is the place to go. What they lack in luxury they more than make up in service, quality and especially price. Their knowledge is also second to none. These guys know more about tires than Bubba from Forest Gump knows about shrimp. They are the last word and the experts. I had an annoying noise coming from my tires. I brought my car in and was promptly helped. The mechanic checked all my tires looking for any nails etc. when he couldn't find anything, he persisted in looking for the problem. He removed all of the wheels and discovered a small raised chip on the inner rim. He filed it down, rotated the tires and the noise is now gone! Without his persistence, this annoying noise would still be with me. I highly recommend this facility. read more

Horrible place !!! My husband bought tires from this place and after leaving his car didn't drive well again . His mechanic put the car on a lift and saw the problem the tires were defective . After calling Benigno's and explaining that his tires had a defect they refuse to do anything . They were unwilling and denied that the tires could have a defect . Definitely coming back. I called and they were super helpful. They don't sway you in getting what you don't need. Prices are affordable here. No appointments, going during the weekday will cut your wait time to 0. Wait time was about half an hour to get my tires changed. Definitely felt comfortable being there. This place has been around since 1933 so they know what they're doing! Waiting area even has WiFi! This was the 2nd time I bought a set of 4 tires for one of my family cars. You cannot and I repeat --- cannot beat their prices. Brought my car in around 8AM on a Saturday morning and out by 9:15. Unfortunately, I had a problem with one of my tires and it went flat about 5 hours after I had it installed. SInce I live about 25 miles away from their shop, I had to go to my local mechanic who told me the tire had a bubble and probably was a defect. I had my mechanic install a new tire. I called Beningo's and they said to bring the tire in. I did the following Saturday, they took it back and paid me the cost of the tire. In my opinion, that is #1 customer service!. It was not their fault the tire was bad...... but they took responsibility... They have me as a customer for any tires I need in the future!!! read more

Let me start off by saying I have been going to Bonignos for almost 15 years. Everyone recommends them because they are the cheapest around and I fell into that group for years myself. The most recent time I needed tires I did what I alway did, headed down and requested firestone transforce tires for my work truck (had 35k miles at the time), guy told me I should go with a set of continental tires instead, a little more money but a much better tire, better tread wear and ride. "You'll get 60k out of them and they warrant that" I was told. As soon as I pulled out of the lot I went on Rt 46 and my truck shook like a leaf on a tree. I went back the next day and they said "oh you need an alignment" and I agreed, always get one after new tires but I never had a shake from getting new tires. Alignment done and the Truck still shook. I went back again, they were clearly aggravated and they said "I don't know you must have a bent rims" so I had the tires removed, rims checked and rebalanced. The mechanic told me the rims were fine and the tires were out of balance from the start. Truck still shook so I took it to a front end shop and they looked it over and said everything looks fine. This went on and on and on with all types of different tire balance machines, road force, dynamic and everything else under the sun. Multiple alignments, tire rotations and front end checks. They never took responsibility for the issue in almost 3 years. Finally, after less than 3 years and 45k bone shaking miles the tires are bald, warn completely uneven and way earlier then 60k miles. So I got new tires, the shaking is gone just like that and so is a unhappy customer. I own 5 vehicles and I will never go back to bonignos. If they had taken the time to at least check the situation and stand behind a defective tire I would have saved a lot of money chasing issues that didn't exist. I'm glad I went and spent the extra $50.00 and went to another tire shop. In fact I don't care how much cheaper they are I'd never give them my business again. Only thing I have left to say about bonigos are a bunch 4 letter words. read more

The Aeolus tires he recommended for my 07 maxima are great just as good as the Continental DWS I spent $195 each on. I even sent my brother there for his tires on his CTS.
