Came in during Happy Hour with my daughter on a Tuesday around 5pm. They have hibachi or table service. We opted for a table service booth and were promptly sat and greeted. I was a little disappointed that they only have hot sale options for Happy Hour as I prefer cold sake. Daughter had the miso soup and Rainbow Roll on Happy Hour. I decided to try the HH Yuki Roll because I'm a sucker for honey wasabi sauce. We both loved our rolls! Since it was our first time here, I ordered my typical items to judge sushi freshness...1 piece each of tuna and super white tuna nigiri. Both were extremely fresh tasting and tender. Service was attentive and there when needed but not overwhelming. Restaurant and bathroom were clean. All in all, I would definitely return to try other menu items and check out the hibachi one day. We had a reservation for 10 at a hibatchi table for 6:30 and were seated right away. Our server had our drinks out quickly and took our orders. Our hibachi chef did great and my filet was cooked perfectly rare. We had a birthday in our group and they had a neat drum ensemble. read more

This is a good Japanese restaurant. Our server Kayla is really nice. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon bento box, and the salmon was really tender and delicious. I found out about this place on Open Table. I wanted to try something different with my husband. We had their Valentine's Day dinner. It included your choice of appetizer, soup or salad, an entrée, and dessert. We had the pepper tuna sashimi appetizer along with the stuffed avocado appetizer. They both were fantastic. We had their salad and soup. The salad had a dressing that I couldn't put a finger on, but it was great! The soup was delicious as well. For our entrées, we had the hibachi surf and turf and the hibachi seafood combination. So much food that we had to take it to go!!! Our server, Quintin, was excellent!!! He came over at just the right time all night. Drinks were filled, plates were cleared, and his positive energy was exactly what we needed!! There was only us and another couple there. That made the night great. I definitely am happy I found this place. The vibe was great. The music was at the perfect volume so that you can enjoy a conversation without yelling. The food choices for the all you can eat was plentiful: shaggy dog roll, scorpion roll, alaska roll, multiple varieties of nigiri, edamame, gyoza, crab puffs, house salad, soup, to name a few. Fresh sushi! All you can eat sushi on Tuesday and Thursday! I love love love the fried jalapeño sauce!!! I literally want to drink it. It's basically a spicy ponzu sauce. It's perfect for dipping sushi or pouring onto the fried rice!!! Scorpion roll is my absolute fave. Chicken fried rice! Yes, I love it. Secret is to order the chicken fried rice-instead of h the chicken habachi. It's cheaper and to me the exact same. Save a yen or two! ;-) Best edamame in town! The garlic edamame is yummy. I took my teens to Sakekawa on Research Forest Dr tonight and it was great! Yes it is a bit pricey at early dinner time and if after 5:45pm you should def make a reservation but the food and service were great! The host got us right into a clean hibachi table (after telling us that hibachi for 3 would be a 25 min wait!) However we were seated within like 3 mins and Diego was very attentive with our drinks and food orders as well as listened when I explained there were certain items we were planning to pack up to-go. The overall ambiance was so cool because you can choose to sit at the hibachi table but would only get the chef to cook and show if the table atleast 2 entrees ordered off the hibachi menu the chef cooks it, or you can have a more private/intimate almost romantic dinner at their bar seating as it appeared lovely with lighting and spacing yet on the right side there was seating/tables as normally expected! The only downside I think with any Sakekawa (research or woodland parkway) is their dessert menu may look great but the reality is the flavor is not there...atleast with their ice cream roll and in the past their mochi. Came in on the Fourth of July around 7pm. They were decently busy but we were seated pretty quickly. There seemed to be only two waiters so the service was a little bit slow. The restaurant itself was cute, it was dark and moody. If it were any cooler outside the patio would've been a nice seating option. As far as the food goes, my date and I both ordered pomegranate lemonades and they were just okay. The pomegranate flavor was super artificial to me, but he liked it so the taste is subjective. We also ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp dinner. The shrimp was great and so was the rice. The chicken was a little dry but with the sauce it was good. We ordered the crunch roll and it was practically falling apart. The flavor was decent but it was just really messy. When we arrived they told us any sushi roll could be made gluten free. We love spicy sushi, so that's all we ordered... a while after placing our order our waitress came back to say all spicy salmon and tuna had gluten, so they'd have to change that out AND they would upcharge us for using the non spicy fish. The only option given to us was that they could put chili powder on top for some spice. It was so incredibly disappointing, especially the fact that they were upcharging us for switching out the fish. The Yellow Tail appetizer we ordered was brown, which is unappealing. The "crunch" on my roll was soggy stale panko. Spicy ponzu sauce was sweet, not spicy. My husband's roll was swimming in mayo, all he could taste was the "spicy" mayo that was sickeningly sweet. The ambiance was great. This place is amazing!! My family was visiting Texas from far away, and back home we enjoy this type of restaurant very much, so we wanted to try one of the restaurants Texas had to offer. The credit was retracted by the manager when the check came because she "couldn't do it". Salads and soup were not the best part of the meal.
