We spent that first summer moving an old-fashioned sprinkler head connected to our hose from place to place in trying to save our grass... it just wasn't a long term solution. After researching different sprinkler companies and getting different quotes, we decided to go with LC Sprinklers and Lighting. The owner, Luis, gave us a reasonable quote (comparable to others that we got), but he won us over with his knowledge of irrigation systems and his professionalism. He was responsive and patient with us in answering our questions as we had never owned a sprinkler system before. On installation day, Luis and his team installed the sprinkler system in one day! While we were nervous as to how our yard would look after being opened up for the installation, Luis and team did a great job putting it back together (see picture). The people who do the work have to be smart to be able to troubleshoot very complex problems that arise when plastic plumbing and lots of electronic controls are all underground! But they also have to be able to work with their hands to build things, both out of plumbing and electrical hookups. And they have to understand the ever-changing product offerings. Typically I'll work with a sprinkler company as long as they have a very smart guy to do my work; then when they fall off, I start the search for another. I had a problem when I installed a Rachio controller myself; I didn't follow the advice to take a picture of the wiring of the old controller. Then I found that my old controller hadn't been wired conventionally, and I had a devil of a time trying to get it working. So I called my sprinkler guy, who worked all day on it and finally got one zone working. Just one, after working all day! I found Capital, and Dave Fullerton, from Angie's List. He came out, and in four hours had the whole thing working, found a troublesome leak in the system, and made a couple of repairs also. Compared with the average person in this business, he's a true Superman. I recommend that you call Capital for your irrigation system needs. Without reservation. Thankfully due to reliability issues with the previous irrigation company that we'd used we had to find a new company. Carlos showed us how the main irrigation pipe was installed at an angle and basically the irrigation back flow valve was forced into the PVC pipe and the possibility of it cracking under pressure and flooding our basement was extremely high. I sent photos to the office, but they denied that their technician removed them and simply suggested that I buy replacement bulbs because they are inexpensive. The cost of the bulbs is not the issue. Most recently Cass and Nathan were here to install a wireless rain detection device. While on site, they adjusted spray head coverage as we requested, and installed a special back-flow valve to prevent a downhill spray head from draining the uphill line into unwanted puddles.
