I have had 2 prior breast augmentation surgeries prior to going to Dr. Chu. I was never happy with the outcome from prior surgeries. I told myself I'd never go back to my old surgeon. I had a condition in my right breast called capsular contracture with bio film. Yes bio film. Bacteria growing on my implant along with an over growth of scar tissue which caused my breast to be extremely hard and sometimes painful. After my consultant with Dr. Chu he explained in detail what was happening to me and how he could help. He was so thorough and meticulous on what to expect before, during and after surgery. Let me just start by saying Dr. Chu is absolutely amazing, to say the least! I met with Dr. Chu because I needed to get some reconstructive work done on my breasts from my previous breast augmentation (done by a different doctor). I had a HUGE problem! I had one very high boob and one very low boob. Dr. Chu was straightforward with me from the start, explaining how difficult of a procedure it could be, but not impossible. He told me that he wanted to make sure I had realistic expectations so I wouldn't be disappointed with the end result. This is what I love so much about him--he's very straightforward, no filter, no sugar coat. He tells it like it is and I feel like not all plastic surgeons do.He's VERY thorough- and his pricing is VERY fair! My procedure took double the amount of time as a normal breast augmentation, but he didn't up-charge me an outlandish amount. He told me it would take a lot of work, on his end and mine, but it could be done. I can honestly say I walked out of his office without one unanswered question and without feeling "robbed." Dr. Chu is not an "in and out" doctor by any means. He takes his time to build a comfortable relationship with you, and even has a one year follow up program for his patients! Appointments may be a little lengthy, but totally worth it. . He truly is a perfectionist and takes the utmost pride in his work-- I think that's something everyone can appreciate. The day of my procedure, he went over all the details again before taking me into the operation room. When I woke up he talked with me about the procedure, showed me pictures, and let me know that he'd be giving me a follow up call later in the evening. He also gave me his personal cell phone number in case I needed to contact him. The next day was I had a post-op appointment--I expected to see bruising and be in a lot of pain. The pain was minimal and I had zero bruising...up until this day! (I was very surprised because with my first augmentation I had TONS of bruising, and it was saline implants. This time I got textured silicone and an a lot more invasive surgery, but no bruising!) At my two week post opp appointment, Dr. Chu went over the massage techniques with me and made sure that I understood each massage and its benefit. Before leaving the office he asked me if I was happy with my results, genuinely happy--when I said yes his eyes lit up! Clearly, he loves what he's doing and is absolutely amazing at it. Today I am 2 weeks and 3 days post opp. and I couldn't be happier. They turned out better than I ever imagined they could. Of course they're not identical, as no two breasts are, but they are 110% better than what they were, and closest to being symmetrical as they've ever been. I went to 2 other Dr's before I met Dr.Chu. I knew right away he was the Dr. I wanted. You can tell he takes his profession very seriously. I committed to the surgery during the initial meet. 6 weeks later I am the proud wearer of a 34D. I am very happy with the results. I asked Dr. Chu to make most of the decisions for me because he is the professional and I assumed he would do what would be the best outcome. I was right. We agreed on 450cc's of silicone. He did the procedure through my nipple and under the pectoral muscle. A lot of people say they look very natural. I laugh at that. Is 34D sound natural on a 130 lb 5'2 woman? They are fabulous though. My husband was very reserved having felt saline filled before. He is very happy with the silicone. He can't stop raving about how much he likes them. I would recommend the same for anyone else. After having breastfed 3 children back to back my nipples did not line up and I was half an A cup. I would recommend this Dr. to anyone. He also has a very nice and beautiful staff. They are very friendly and never made me feel uncomfortable. For being topless almost every time you are in his office that says a lot. I had my breasts done by Dr. Chu 5 months ago and would like to share my great experience. Let me start by saying that I am 100% happy that I chose Dr. Chu to perform my breast augmentation. After looking at my breasts in the mirror every day for about 5 months now, I just couldn't help but want to write a review for Dr. Chu and say why I am very pleased with the results and with Dr. Chu's professional attitude and attentiveness. Before I chose Dr. Chu I went to four other consultations, all of which by very well known doctors in Honolulu. Dr. Chu was the ONLY one to explain ALL the details from beginning to end. Even though I had already done tons of research on the issue and thought that I knew what I wanted, Dr. Chu still explained all the possible details and outcomes, and thanks to him my result has turned out to be amazing. Dr. Chu explained to me everything, starting from type of implants, to shape of implants, to size of implants, to risks associated with implants, and with their types and sizes, etc. Dr. Chu was extremely patient and informative regarding my numerous, endless, and repetitive questions. It is not surprising that I was nervous about the surgery and wanted to know as much as possible. Dr. Chu has answered my every question, twice if needed, for which I am very grateful. Dr. Chu was very respectful, polite, professional, and approachable. I felt very comfortable asking him for his professional advice. As for the result itself, it turned out to be amazing. I ended up choosing silicone implants, which feel naturally soft. About two months after my surgery, like most other women, I wished I went bigger (even though before the surgery I MYSELF insisted on not being too big). But let me say right away that this wish did not last for long, it was just a temporary "boob greed", and I am very happy about how Dr. Chu reacted when I told him about my concern. There are so many surgeons out there who would just want to make more money, would say ok, let's make another appointment and make you bigger, or something like this. Went to Dr. Chu for my breast augmentation after two girlfriend's high recommendations, and based on the images I saw of his work on his website. His gallery was definitely the most consistent in beauty and evenness of his work. He was indeed GREAT! He is a Boob Artist. I loved his professionalism, his expertise, and his care. He definitely KNOWS Breasts and knows how to make them look the best that they can. Loved the imaging technology, so I could get an idea of what size I wanted... Originally thought I wanted just 250cc, but Dr. Chu was very persuasive about going a bit bigger to get the best cleavage and size for my body.... I still didn't go AS big as he'd suggested (350cc+), but ended up with a 325cc and am grateful for his suggestion. He was clear in explaining his techniques, his reasons for suggesting sizes, and I even learned some things about breast augmentations that I had never heard of. For example, He lowers the crease if needed, to make the nipple more centered on the entire breast and even in the placement of the breasts on the chest plate! Who knew?! He was very thorough with explaining the process and what they can do to ensure that I receive results that I would be happy with. I heard about Dr. Chu from one of the girls I worked with and she told me just how great of a job he did on her breast augmentation. I immediately scheduled a consultation and a few weeks later, I had the surgery. My overall experience was wonderful. Dr. Chu gave me so many options, had me try on different size breast, answered all my concerns about the surgery, and he even gave me a 3D image of what my breasts would look like with different cup sizes, which he printed off for me and I looked at it everyday to make sure that I wanted those sizes. From there, him and his staff made sure that I was well prepared for surgery by basically "setting me up for success" by giving me a heads up on what I need to bring with me to each appointment and putting me on a diet that helps with the recovery process. His staff was extremely nice and very helpful. If I could remember their names, I would give them a shout out but they gave me a lot of insight on what to expect after the surgery. I am very happy and satisfied with the outcome of the surgery! I was definitely nervous and excited going into the surgery, but a couple hours later, I was done. I first met doctor Chu about 16 years ago when I was looking for a doctor in Hawaii to do a revision my breast augmentation surgery. After doing my "home work" I had an idea of what needed to be done, I visited several doctors here and didn't feel that they understood what I want, until I met Doctor Chu. He was like ok, we need to to this and this, and it was exactly what I wanted. My surgery was a success, so much so that several of my friends, and friends of my friends, come to see him for the same surgery right after mine, and they are still super happy with the results to this day. I chose Dr. Chu for breast augmentation surgery. He put me on a strict diet before and after and had very specific instructions for healing. I followed all instructions as was told and the results are simply amazing, I had my surgery on valentines day...less than a month later I am in love with my new body! I wasn't in any pain afterwards even though I have heard so many stories about how painful this process is. I took Tylenol with codine twice after the procedure...that is all. Last year I went to see Dr. Chu & his staff for a consultation. All his staff is so wonderful and they make you feel very welcome. I was referred by my friend several years ago. I did a breast augmentation in Seattle back in 2010. Last year I finally decided to seek his consultation on a Tummy Tuck and while I was there I wanted to get a breast lift. Dr. Chu explained everything of the procedure in detailed. He made sure I was comfortable. I recently did a Tummy Tuck on June 1, 2016. I am so stoke with the procedure and the outcome of it all. I saw Dr Chu for a breast augmentation just 11 days ago. Already I am incredibly pleased with the results of my "Christmas boobs!" I started as a very small B and am now a full D. I opted for 485 cc textured silicone implants with submuscular placement. They are well-proportioned, even, and very natural looking. My aesthetician, who works in a surgeon's office and has had a BA herself, even said they are the best boobs she has ever seen. :) I have a couple of friends who saw Dr Chu for their BAs and both had exceptional results as well. The initial consultation with Dr Chu was very positive. He spent over an hour personally discussing surgical technique, the type and size of implant best suited for me, showing before and afters of his own patients, and answering questions. He was also the only surgeon who looked at my existing scars to see how I scar and gave me realistic expectations for the surgery. His technology was the most advanced as well. He uses the Vectra XT imaging system which takes a 3D image of your breasts and provides the surgeon with detailed body measurements and allows him to show you a simulated result of what different sized implants will look like on your own body. Very neat! Dr Chu is extremely caring, gentle and concerned with achieving the best results. He wants his patients to be happy and realizes that he is not the only factor in the success of the surgery. He recommends a restricted diet 2 weeks pre-op and post-op and limited movement after the procedure. He is much more conservative than many other surgeons, but as far as I'm concerned, that is a good thing! How you treat your body after the procedure has just as much, if not more, effect on the healing than the actual surgery. Follow his instructions. He has had years of experience and knows what it takes to attain the best outcome for his patients. As with any surgery, there is obviously post-op pain involved. Dr Chu wants his patients to be as comfortable as possible and is the only surgeon who offered a pain pump which minimizes post-op pain by leaking marcaine to the surgical site for 3 days (the most painful time). I opted out of the pain pump. I did take Percocet for the first two days and felt that I did fine without the pain pump, but trust me, those days are rough and the pain pump may be a good option. Assess how you tolerate pain and choose the option that is best for you. Also keep in mind that you will need a great deal of help with even the most basic tasks. Have someone you trust who can be with you at all times during the first week and possibly even the following week. This will truly allow you to give your body the rest it needs after surgery and may help to ensure that you don't over do it. Dr Chu stresses that the second week is critical time for healing and by then you will be feeling so much better and will want to move around and show off your new breasts, but it is essential to remain relatively inactive as bleeding can still occur during this time. I am excited to see how my new boobs will settle over the next few months and am honestly happier and happier with them everyday. Overall, I had an excellent experience with Dr Chu. Both he and his staff were great to work with. They made the process easy! I could not be more pleased with my decision to have the surgery done and I know I made a great decision choosing him as my surgeon. I originally had saline implants put in back in 2007, over the muscle, with another surgeon. My implants never gave me problems until I had a few cysts removed, which is when all of my problems with capsular contractures began. This same surgeon performed two surgeries on my left breast, in August 2012 and again in April 2013, both times he removed scar tissue and then replaced the saline implant with another saline implant. Well, I developed a capsule again, this time, the implant was pushing against a part of my breast, causing the skin in that area to get so paper thin that I could literally feel the implant right under the surface of my skin, that's when I got a second opinion from Dr. Chu in April 2014. I was referred to him by my sister who absolutely loves the results that she got with Dr. Chu who did her breast lift and put in textured silicone implants. At my initial consultation, Dr. Chu told me that he was afraid that if this situation was not addressed soon, that the skin in that area of my breast could die for lack of circulation. He also said that everyone heals differently and it seems like I develop scar tissue pretty easily. He suggested that we fix my problem in two surgeries, in order to get the best possible results. In April 2014, he removed both implants and also injected fat from my abdomen into my left breast where my skin was paper thin. While healing, my left breast developed more scar tissue that was pulling my breast inwards in some areas, including my areola, causing my breast to look really deformed. I did five Aspen ultrasound treatments with Dr. Chu's office, which did help to loosen up the scar tissue prior to my second surgery. In August 2014, Dr. Chu put in textured silicone implants that are supposed to make it difficult for scar tissue to hold on to, under the muscle, and again, he took fat from my abdomen to put in to my left breast to help fill in the gaps. Dr. Chu told me in my initial consultation that my situation was extreme, and as far as difficulty in getting the best result possible, I was a "10" on a scale from 1 to 10, that he would pretty much have to "hit a home run" in order to get a good result. Thank you Dr. Chu for hitting a home run! Although I'm still very early in the healing process, my husband and I are so happy with the results and we agree that my breasts look even better now than they did after the first augmentation in 2007. After years of contemplation and doing research on various plastic surgeons on-line, I happened to mention to a friend at work in casual conversation my intention to have breast augmentation surgery. She said that she had gotten hers done by Dr. Chu and they looked natural. So I scheduled a consultation and found him to be very informative about the procedure. He gave me recommendations on size based on measurements that he took and let me feel several different types of implants to show me options. I went ahead with the surgery and after a month, am extremely satisfied with the results. My breasts are now perfectly proportioned to my body, with perfectly aligned nipples and minimal scarring a month after surgery. I am a 28 year old asian female who weighs about 116 pounds and stands at 5 feet 4 inches. I am on the slim side and decided to go with the Sientra textured high profile silicone implants with submuscular placement as Dr. Chu had recommended at my consultation. From the very beginning of inquiring for a consultation, his staff was very polite and knowledgable. My consultation went great and Dr. Chu explained everything into detail regarding breast augmentation. Dr. Chu did not rush me out of his office, instead he took his time making sure I was comfortable and knew what to expect with my surgery and body. I took some pictures to have them enhanced to see what I would look like with big breasts. I was very nervous about breast surgery, but Dr. Chu and his staff's demeanor were so knowledgable, calm, collective, and sincere, that it put my nervousness to ease. At my pre operative appointment, Dr. Chu took my measurements and we went over the biggest implant I could get. I was a bit curious as to how he was going to make my breast proportionate because one was slightly bigger than the other (which is normal in every woman). I chose to go the maximum size for my body, which was 440cc implants. He warned me that he could not guarantee me not getting any stretch marks because my breast skin was so little. I decided to go ahead with the 440cc anyways and I absolutely don't regret it!! The day of surgery, he was just as excited for me as I was. He put my IV catheter in and next thing I know it, I'm waking up asking about my animals. I have 415cc in one boob and 440cc in the other breast, which sounds like a big difference to some people, but my breasts are proportionate now! I chose not to have the pain pump, so my first 2 days were a little bumpy, but so worth it! I don't regret a thing! With that being said, the very next day after my surgery, was a holiday (Kamehameha Day), so all Dr. offices are closed, however Dr. Chu came in to see me to remove my bandages and make sure I was okay. I tended to bleed a little more than most patients, but that was because I was being too active. Just follow his instructions and you will be fine. Upon meeting him at his office on that holiday, he waited downstairs at the elevator for my husband and I and even called us the night of my surgery to see how I was doing. I have gone to other check up appointments to see how I am coming along and healing, and just to see the difference in the before and after pictures...I am soooo HAPPY! He has always told me that if ever I have any questions or concerns, he is there for me and to call and come in. Dr. Chu and his staff really cares about their patients and are the BEST!! read more
