Every single time I've come here, the experience has been the same: long, endless waits and a doctor who rushes through visits so fast it makes me wonder why I was sitting in the waiting room for hours in the first place. It feels like they have zero respect for their patients' time or concerns. Beyond the waiting 1.5 hours in JUST the waiting room for a follow up, then another 30 minutes in the exam room before the dr comes in, the worst was when I was scheduled for an endoscopy. I checked in on time, expecting maybe a short delay (because things happen in healthcare). Instead, I sat in the main waiting room for over 3 hours. Not pre-op. Not being prepped. Just in a crowded lobby, staring at the walls, with absolutely no communication from staff. After three hours of this, I finally got up and left--completely frustrated and over it. Honestly, I should've walked out sooner. I got rescheduled for the next week, as the very first patient. When you do finally get taken back, the procedure area is no better. They make you power down your phone in front of them and show them that it's turned off. I understand phones might not be allowed during procedures, but here's the issue: after they take your phone, you're left sitting in pre-op for up to 2 more hours with nothing to do but stare at a blank wall. No updates. No reassurance. No communication at all. No sense of time. Just isolation and waiting. It's incredibly inconsiderate, especially for patients who are already anxious. I have a baby at home, and my time is not disposable. I can't afford to waste entire days sitting in waiting rooms and pre-op holding areas with no explanation, no updates, and no respect for the fact that patients have lives, families, and responsibilities. Add to that a doctor who doesn't take symptoms seriously ( and asks over and over about someone that was just asked about 1 minute prior ), and it's a recipe for patients to feel dismissed, unheard, and neglected. Healthcare is already stressful enough--you're usually going in because you don't feel well or because something is wrong. The last thing you should have to deal with is a system that treats you like an afterthought. Every visit here has been hours of wasted time, rushed interactions, and the sense that patients' concerns just don't matter. If you're considering coming here, know what you're signing up for: long waits, minimal communication, and a doctor who seems too busy (or unwilling) to actually listen. He's a great GI dr but the waiting times are insane. If you're in need fast go somewhere else but it is worth the wait.

This dr. is worst of the worst, and their office lacks in basic level of treating patients and keeping the appointment time. If one ever thought of this office and dr. as your choice, I suggest think twice, three times and RUN! His endo and colonoscopy tests records are somethings under basic of level of medical skills these days. He scribbled a few notes on pieces of papers and presenting it as a test report, and I thought he should go back to medical school and get retraining. The next appointment time was 2 months away for post op discussion, ridiculously long just to get the results. Other Dr's that I've been to, gives you full report with pictures and detail of works done on the same day. I'm not even sure Chung is capable of understanding the proper report format. We've visited total of 3 times, and waited minimum of 2.5 hours outside and another 45 minutes in the waiting room during each visit, and should've realized then, to stay away from this office, and there were posters, non related to the medical practice he's performing, i.e. advertisement of skin care or weight loss, or something in that regard. Doctor Chung sent me to the ER, he is the worst doctor I've ever experienced in my life. He said 2 words to me. And didn't check up on me before I left the office. I went into his office suite 210 to get an endoscopy done they kicked me out of the bed post op within a very short amount of time. I was still heavily drugged and vomiting. In their office!! And no one informed the doctor I was having a reaction. They wheeled me to my fathers car throwing up in his car. Failing to provide me Anti nausea meds and let me go. I later went to the ER because the pain was the worst I've ever felt. I threw up about 40 times in the course of 5-7 hours. The ER administered Morphine, 2x sucralfate, 2x protonix, nausea meds, and 2x Iv bags. This ER trip is easily going to cost me $$$. Not to mention the pain I went through. When I talked to Mr. Chung about this, he simply told me, he was not aware of my condition when I was in his office. Most unprofessional nursing staff I've ever had as well, one of the nurses had a terrible attitude, and the other older one instantly started to yell at me to turn my phone off before the procedure 6 times. they should have went to him. What is wrong with the medicle field these days? If you want to be treated well don't go to a Dr office these days. Universally doesn't matter what field or specialty Dr offices these days just don't give an ef. They are hand fed by insurance companies more patients then they can obviously handle. I'm disabled and am running into health problems as I'm aging and running into various medicle "proffesionals" and attempting to navigate how to get "proffesional" service. Biggest complaint Universally is these premadonnas must believe it is below them to return a message. I don't need the Dr to call me back, but someone, and someone who can answer a simple question. Since covid the overall performance has plummeted across the board. Dr Benjamin Chung is my most recent disappointment. My first gastro Oceana Gastro couldn't figure out what is wrong with me. I demanded they take care of me in a timely manner as I had no diagnosis after 7 months. They didn't like the fact I was demanding so they dumped me to Loma Linda who couldn't even give me an appointment as they were booked solid for 3 months. So I found Dr Chung on my insurance company web site. Nice location and they could see me in a week. Having been with another Dr before I had a prescription that helped my condition. After my 2 minute exam he was going to order more tests. Great another 6 weeks. So I asked if he could refill or write a new prescription as these meds helped. He told me he was sure if I called my old Dr he would refill it. WHAT! Why would a Dr I no longer see refill my prescription. I laughed because this medicle field is really getting irritating. I said you are my Dr not them. So he agreed to write a new script. Well he wrote it wrong I'm only getting half the med and I've left 5 messages over the course of the last week and a half. Nobody calls you back. I begged them to just find out yes or no if he's going to rewrite it or tell me to ef off. I have meds for two days left. You go to these medicle facilities and they have signs stating they will not stand for verbal abuse and such. Yet if they tried half as hard to do their job as they do to not things would run a lot smoother. So a few of my messages I left were for the manager who never called me I asked when she would call me I was told oh I don't know. I think she left for the day. It was 2:00 pm. I asked what time does she get in tomorrow? Oh she gets in late tomorrow. Not till 11:00. So I just snidley commented what a good job she has. Leave early in the pm and come in late the next day. So to make a long story short good luck to you if you choose this practise. Believe me they need the practise, but not on me. I'm driving to Mexico and picking up my meds there. Insurance won't cover it but I can get them in 3 month supply instead of having to refill every 30 days and going through refill frustrations. It's not only this Dr. It's most. Very nice doctor with pleasant bedside manners and listens to your concerns. Are able to get you appointments in very quickly. I had a wait on my first consult bit. His staff was great and super friendly and took care of me very well. I never been to a doctor who takes you exactly on time always, if they do you should worry about the doctor rushing patients. Where do I begin? If I could give this doctor & his office a 0 stars, I would but I have to give 1 star on Yelp! I deal with many doctors offices and this has to be one of the rudest most unprofessional offices I have ever dealt with! I would not recommend this doctor or his office staff to anyone! When you walk in the office they are not welcoming and/or friendly. There is an Asian nurse that is just as rude as the doctor himself! Dr. Ben Chung examined our resident & was rude to both our resident & staff who brought him in for the appointment. At the appointment, Dr. Chung advised that our resident needed a colonoscopy & a endoscopy done. After waiting weeks, I finally had to call the office repeatedly to find out if they had received an approval from his insurance. Even when they did receive the approval, they never contacted us to let us know that he can come in for the procedure! Prior to setting up the appointment, Dr. Ching's office staff called to ask if the resident was able to sign for himself. I explained to the office that he is very high functioning and could understand well. He is also capable of signing his own forms. When we arrived for his appointment, they gave my resident, myself & my staff a very difficult time & were asking my resident questions. My resident became frustrated to the point that my resident asked, "do they think I'm stupid because I have a disability?" I feel bad for my resident because he was upset and was not able to get his procedure done because the doctor refused! Dr. Chung told my staff as well as my resident that he was incompetent to sign papers. The nurse had already placed an IV needle into his hand & our resident was in his gown. He had to get the IV taken out & get dressed to leave...he never got the procedure done! Sadly this doctor & his office will never be recommended to anyone!! read more

I have been to so many doctors the last five years. I have very little faith in them anymore and am just happy when one is nice to me. Dr Chung listened, he was nice, he took time with me and his office staff was nice, which is almost never my experience. He also ordered ordered multiple tests at once which I appreciate. I had been in severe stomach pain for over seven days including an ER visit where they couldn't tell me what was wrong but yet I had this stabbing rock in my stomach. Leaving the ER feeling the same way that I did left me so hopeless and when his office called to schedule me without me even having to call them I just cried I was so happy I was going to get seen so soon. I've only had one visit but I was happy when I left and that rarely happens after I go to the doctor. Usually I leave crying and feeling hopeless. I don't know why Dr. Chung has many bad review. Try going to Dr. Chopra by Parkview hospital and you'll see how bad it is. We are so blessed to find Dr. Chung. He listens and explains very detail to all of our questions. I transferred my dad from Dr. Chopra. With liver cirrhosis but my dad recently found our, it was so hard to schedule anything with Dr. Chopra. He has no bed side manner. A biopsy was ordered by him but 2 months after, we still didn't get an appointment for the result. With Dr. Chung, right after we transferred the file over, we were able to see him within that week. He pulled all test results and saw us back in a month with plan of what best for my dad. He always explains all my questions very detailing. We can schedule Saturday appointment, nice clean big waiting room and no more than 15 mins wait everytime we get there. If you need a GI doctor, Dr. Chung is your best choice in the area. read more

I will have to agree with a lot of the comments regarding the staff, they are rude, impolite, and quite condescending. One girl kept mispronouncing my name so I just ignored here until she got it right. I even pronounced it for her correctly and she continued to mispronounce it. That right there tells me that I have little to no significance and that was quite obvious. My appointment was at 430p I checked in at 410p and didn't get called until 530p. Sat in the exam room for a good 20 mins until Dr arrived for a quick exam then out you got to the cashier. This is the 2nd time I've had a difficult time with this same office. The consultation appointment was quick and there was a 30 minute wait to be seen. When I took my father in for his procedure, his appointment was at 9:30 and was not seen until hours later. Scheduling overbooks patients and keeps them waiting for long hours. They really need improvement on booking patients within a reasonable time frame. I gave this office 1 star because it wouldn't let me leave less than 1. If you like being kept waiting for hours, calls that go to voicemail before 10:30am, being kept on hold for 19 minutes or more when you finally do get through and if you like waiting days or weeks for even a mundane task like copies of your file sent to a referral Doctor, then this is the Doctor's Office for you! At 4:45 today I counted 16 people waiting in this office. At least 10 I figure were actual patients. Another 4 were personal support I'm guessing. There was a pharmaceutical sales rep and myself. I was there to demand my file which they still hadn't sent to the referral Dr. over a week after the referral.. (I should mention also that my 1st and only appointment had me waiting 5 hours. I thought i just caught them on a bad day) I called ahead for this file and still they made me wait almost an hour...One single visit and I was already fed up with their crap but still they kept it up. ...10 patients waiting at 4:45 is not an exageration. If not for respect to those poor patients, I'd have taken a picture for this review. Figure the time it takes for the Dr. review the notes of each patient before seeing them. Then figure the time it takes to address their illness and then write some notes for his file...Does 20 minutes per patient sound about right?? If I could give it no stars, I would. First I was told that he only takes evening appointments. I was fine with that. So my appointment was for 6:15pm. I was a bit nervous about the reason I was going there so I had to wait all day. Then they call me and ask if I can come at 4:15 instead. I'm frankly relieved. I just want to get this over with. I get there at 3:45 because I don't know my way around Riverside that well. I count at least 20 people in the waiting room and just know this isn't going to be good. One man was asleep on the couch. Oh great. While I was waiting, one woman came in at 5:00pm. She told the receptionist that her bus stops running after 8:00. The receptionist was a bit snotty and told her that they were doing the best they could. Another man came in, said he was scheduled for 6:00 pm. Took one look around smiled and left. It appears to me that this doctor triple books....at least. I get called in at 6:15...6:15! I'm pretty angry. The assistant takes my blood pressure and says, 'It's a bit high.' I'm like, duh! Then I go sit in the room. The doctor comes in. He struck me as indifferent and busy. He may be the greatest doctor in the world but I didn't see it. I just wanted out of that office. So as I'm leaving, they schedule another appointment. I just smiled and went along with everything they said because I know I'm never going back there....ever. Great new staff, they were very friendly and kind. I didn't have to wait too long to see the doctor. Dr Chung was knowledgeable, thorough and he really seemed to care about helping me to find out why I'm having pain. I came back a few days later for an endoscopy and the staff at the surgery center was very professional and kind. They made me feel very comfortable which is very important when you're hungry and cranky. Everyone really had there act together. I'm sad to see the old bad reviews, they are based on his old staff, a few bad apples that are no longer there. They new staff are a vast improvement. We really need a good gastroenterology in the Riverside/Corona area and I'm glad to have found Dr Chung. I highly recommend Dr Chung and his staff, I received great care from the staff and Dr Chung. Don't go to this doctor. I was getting a procedure done and while I was sedated a employee stole something from my purse. When I called and was told from a employee that they had a problem with a employee stealing wallets and stuff from people but she said that issue was just taken care of. I asked to speek to someone in charge and that person barely spoke english and she didn't seem to know what to do. I then told her have Dr. Chung call me after all it is his office, his employee. Yes the waits are a little long. He sees lots of patients. Maybe there aren't others like him who accept IEHP and that's why. I had 2 procedures done that went very well, and the staff was very friendly and skilled. I went online before seeing Dr. Chung and found State Medical Board disciplinary action some time ago for performing unnecessary procedures. With that said, just make sure you evaluate exactly what the the doctor says the same way he evaluates you and you'll be alright. I do that with every doctor by the way and I'm not afraid to get 2nd opinions. I'm giving 5 stars because he and his staff are knowledgeable and work very hard. read more

I wish I would have thought to check this site before making an appointment at this office because it would have saved me some time and aggravation. I arrived on time for a 4:30 pm appointment and was kept waiting for 2 hours in the lobby. Since the office does not open until 3:00 pm, they got really behind, really quickly. The doctor came in and gave me what I would call a cursory examination, but he seemed very distracted. He asked me why I was there and I explained in detail, but it seemed to go in one ear and out the other because while he was flipping through some of the papers I brought him, he asked me several questions, several times, that I had already told him. This all could be overlooked if his staff was better, because let's face it, your actual time with the physician is minimal, it his staff you deal with mostly. Scheduling appointments, requesting refills, scheduling procedures. Etc. and Dr. Benjamin Chung has one of the worst staffs it's been my misfortune to encounter. They are rude, unprofessional, and uncaring. I have been to the office only once and have tried 4 times to schedule an upper G.I. I was left on hold no less than 20 min by Gina and she never once came back and let me know she hadn't forgotten about me. I hung up and called back and she deliberately did it again out of spite when I snapped at her. Had she come back I would have apologized for snapping. I have been sick and in pain for over 6 months and really need to get this procedure scheduled, perhaps my lack of patience is understandable, and could be forgiven. If Gina is going to work in this type of environment, she needs to grow up, be a professional and act like one. Melissa is just as rude. The staff is a representation of the doctor they work for. On the day of my appointment, I waited an hour and forty-five minutes, only to be turned away because I didn't want to sign the Arbitration Agreement, which is my right as a patient. I used to work for Dr. Chung, all the staff including the doctor's wife Jane are unprofessional. I was missed trained, and always had something new added to my task list. They didn't start me of by telling me what I would do, they jus added more and more duties, which I didn't mind, but the fact that they didn't explain to me from the beginning was wrong and did I mentioned unprofessional. I would blame this on Jane for not being there all the time and trusting too much on Nora, which she would leave in charge. If you're going to supervise then do so, do your job. When hired I was given to read and sign 5 to 6 papers, but once I was let go I was told by Jane that the position I took was per diem. I didn't believed her because I never take per diem jobs. Jane made me wait weeks for my paper that I asked her to send me. I asked her to give me all the paper work I signed up for, I have the right to have a copy of those paper. I had to go in person twice, the first time I wanted to talk to her and see if I could get my copies, but instead I was ignored and asked to come another day, that she was too busy, and didn't have time to make copies. I was ignored by the staff that I worked with, Nora was in the back and she knew I was there, the only person who helped me was Jasmine and Fabiola. The second time I came in early before they open, I sat down in the lobby and waited for Jane, once I saw her and she saw me, she asked me to leave the office because they were close and that they weren't open yet. Not even a hello how can I help you, nothing, unprofessional. But I was not a patient I'm an ex employee, simply asking to get a copy of my paper work. I knew something fishy was up when Jane didn't want to make my copies, I mean how hard can it be, plus it would have taken only 2minutes to do so. Once I told Jane I have the right to get my copies, she replied with "I'll send it by mail". Once I received her mail, I notice that I only received one paper, that stated that the position I was holding was per diem, and it had my signature on the bottom of the paper. I couldn't believe it. On the 1st day that I set foot in that office she, herself gave me 5 to 6 papers, that I read and signed, and none of them were about per diem job. I do recall Jane telling me the job was part time and that I could work myself to a full time position, more like I worked myself to be let go and giving a paper that till still day I believe is fake. I believe Jane copied my signature and made her own format stating that the position was per diem, why didn't she send me the rest of the paper work? Is it because she didn't want me to receive disemployment? It could have been. either way, Jane's a snake who's trying to get a cheap and easy way out, she wanted me and Jasmine to clean the break room after the morning shift left and made a mess. I told her I wasn't going to clean after nobody, "I believe we are all adults and can clean after ourselves, I come and eat my meal and clean up after I'm done". She then hired a cleaning staff to clean every night. I came to work as a CMA not a clean up group. That was another thing Gina and Nora as well for Melissa would leave chips, cookies, and energy drinks on the table, and they expected me to clean it up, uh nope! The staff are a bunch of click that belong in high school. I would not recommend this specialist to anyone, and good luck to whom ever gets hired, you'll need it. read more

Worst doctor ever. They give appointment of same time to like 10 patients. It does not make sense one doctor cant see 10 patients at the same time. Me and my husband end up waiting for more then an hour and then told by the medical assistant that doctor is not hear and they dont know how long its going to take for him to come. Doctor himself is really rude and does not answer any of your question. If i could leave no stars I would. First off this office is definitely not time considerate. My first visit to this office. My original appt was for 5:45 I called the office the day I needed the appt the lady said come at 5:45 then she called back and asked me if u could come at 445 instead because the doctor needed to leave early. I arrived for my appt still didn't get in til 6 and obviously the dr didn't make whatever appt he had because when he came in he literally rushed me so fast that i didn't even get to explain all my symptoms. And he schedules me for a procedure. So he schedules me for a visit to give me my results. Came in at 245. By 340 still hadn't been seen and they said there were still two people ahead of me. And I would be expecting another hour. So she said I could come back at 545. Came in and she tells me it's an hour wait.finally see the Dr and of course the few moments I had with the dr i try and talk about what's going on with me he's obviously in a hurry. ..for some results this officer is ridiculous and the Dr doesn't seem too concerned about it either. Not happy with the way this office is ran at all. They're too laid back. So basically all and all in 2 mos time.
