The office staff, particularly whoever handles scheduling, does not seem to be organized or communicate well. On one occasion, I received multiple phone calls in the same day asking why I had scheduled an appointment before my ultrasound was completed. I repeatedly explained that the appointment was to discuss the results of a previous ultrasound, which had already been completed and was in my chart. Despite explaining this several times, they continued to question me. The final issue that led me to cancel my care was when I was scheduled for an endoscopy. No one contacted me beforehand to explain what my out-of-pocket cost would be. Since my procedure was the next day, I called the office because I didn't want to be surprised by a large bill. I spoke with Maggie, and the interaction was extremely disappointing. Rather than listening to my concerns, she repeatedly talked over me while I was simply trying to understand why the office couldn't provide an estimate after obtaining the insurance authorization. It felt like the office was focused on getting paid by the insurance company but not on making sure patients understood their financial responsibility ahead of time. Instead of helping, Maggie told me to call my insurance company or the surgery center myself. I explained that I didn't understand why I had to make multiple phone calls when the procedure had been scheduled through their office. Even after I politely asked her to let me finish speaking, she continued interrupting me and eventually hung up on me. I have worked in customer service for many years, and throughout the conversation I remained respectful. There was nothing that justified ending the call that way. As a result of this experience, I canceled my procedure and will be finding another gastroenterologist. The physician may be excellent, but the office staff's communication, professionalism, and customer service need significant improvement. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. read more

Save yourself a headache!!!! I swear the staff sucks and does not know what the hell they're doing. They have cancelled my mom's appointments EVERY month since June!!! Even on the day of her appointment they cancel her over some dumb reasons. She's been in so much pain and needs to get an endoscopy and she could never get a damn appointment and if she does it gets cancelled. So unprofessional and always with excuses so please don't even bother here. I'm calling her doctor tomorrow to make sure they send her somewhere else to get her endoscopy!!! read more

Dr, Negusse was great even though I never saw her until the day of the procedure and then after that I only saw her NP. The staff and billing department are HORRIBLE!! They overbill you for your insurance co-pays and when you show them they are wrong, they say they will refund the difference if they are wrong. WHAT?!?! I am NOT in the business of loaning businesses free money. Get the billing right the first time. You take my money right away! I should not have to was 2 months to get the money back that shouldnt have been charged in the first place!!! read more

I was looking for a Gastroenterologist closer to home because the one I currently have is in Pasadena. So during a visit with my primary doctor, she recommended Dr. Deborah Negusse. I was a bit scared to try another gastroenterologist because I had been with mine for so long and I knew him very well, but driving to Pasadena was at times difficult for me. So I took a leap of faith and set up an appointment with Dr. Negusse. I was very happy to find out how close to my home address she was. On my first visit, I was greeted by a very friendly staff. I was made to feel very comfortable which helped my nerves. The office was a a very nice, clean, modern establishment which I loved. I was happy to see that I didn't have to fill out the usual paperwork by hand , but rather everything was done via computer which made it quick and easy. The staff was there for help if I needed it. I was even given a small bottle of water which was great because it was a very hot day. The young lady who took me to the waiting room was super nice, knowledgeable and friendly. When Dr. Negusse came into the room she greeted me and reviewed the medical records from my previous GI. She asked me questions about my health, family history etc. She was very patient, had great bedside manners, and made me feel very comfortable. Overall I give Dr. Negusee and her staff two thumbs up. I believe I found a great replacement!!! If anyone is looking for a Gastroenterologist, please consider giving Dr. Negusse a try. read more

I recommend this doctor. She was very good and made getting the one thing that all older adults, and some younger ones, dread in their lifetime, a colonoscopy, a good experience. She has good reviews on doctor review sites and I took a long time to research and decide which doctor to use. Thankfully, she is in my medical insurance plan. I waited too long to get the procedure done, 15 years later than recommended, but thankfully, all is well. She is very personable, talented and kind. Dr didn't even see me on my first visit. The practicing Dr did. I didn't even meet the Dr until the colonoscopy. The staff told me I would not be charged for the mandatory covid test and then I got a bill for it. The left hand doesn't know what the the right hand is doing here. Outstanding doctor. Listens, cares, and takes her time with you. She thoroughly explained the colonoscopy procedure so I was prepared and comfortable. After my procedure she went over the findings and followed up afterwards with additional results and answered all of my questions without rushing me. I came here the 2nd week of March for bloody stools. I was automatically told to do a colonoscopy to see what the reason is. I was charged $400 on the spot for the colonoscopy and I still don't understand why they charged me this $400 because this was not the price of the colonoscopy. I still had to pay another $550 at the procedure center. Anyways the next day on the phone this office calls me saying they didn't receive the payment for the appointment and it was going to be $150. Never in my life have I been charged $400 at a clinic then get called day after saying they forgot to charge me for the actual appointment. Whatever I pay them after them calling multiple times. They book my colonoscopy for 6 weeks later. Like my problem is okay with waiting 6 weeks. Also the doctor very fast didn't seem to care much about my symptoms. I told them about this side paid I was having so she had me do an ultrasound another $220. The doctor does not tell me any recommendations to help out symptoms at all I had to remind her before she left "is there anything I should be doing until then?" She prescribed a laxative and said to take a fiber supplement. Finally colonoscopy time they tell me light hemorrhoids. Doctor scheduled me 2 weeks after colonoscopy to look over results. Finally May 15th. Doctor says "you have light hemorrhoids I can refer you to a surgeon to have a procedure if it you'd like, if not continue with a high fiber diet" this made me insane. I waited 8 weeks to be told to do a high fiber diet or have surgery that is not necessary for me. Why was I not told to do this high fiber diet before doing such procedure I think a "let's try this out to see if it's hemorrhoids" would be smarter. Also I was not prescribed any prescription or real treatment to fix this. The doctor also forgot about my ultrasound results and I had to remind her and she said everything looks good. I would not recommend this place. I was not even given a recommendation of specific eating habits. I did my own research to find out I should not be drinking alcohol or spicy foods and eating high fiber foods to help. I would think a doctor in this field of this would recommend such habits. I had my first appointment with Dr Negusse today and I'm both impressed and very pleased. I'm new to the area and found navigating the local physician network to be challenging to say the least. It almost seems like many offices are discouraging new patients. Dr Negusse's office was just the opposite. After making an appointment for a week in advance, they called back almost immediately and advised they could get me in the very next day because of a cancellation. Their office is modern and conveniently located. The staff is friendly, professional and efficient and a pleasure to deal with. Their use of an iPad to allow me to register on the spot for their patient portal was most refreshing after so many nasty clipboards filled with overly-long forms which request the same information over and over. I was escorted to a treatment room and Dr Negusse arrived almost immediately, another welcome change from the typical doctor's office. I had made a list of symptoms I was experiencing and she patiently reviewed it with me. She made me feel like a person not just a patient which is rare for a specialist. After a physical examination she advised me of her diagnosis as well as treatment options and even an app that I can use to manage diet requirements to speed up my recovery. Dr Negusse was patient, professional yet friendly, and took the time to answer all my questions. She even gave me a referral when I told her I was having a hard time finding a good local Primary care doctor. As a new local resident I was most grateful for the positive experience I experienced with Dr Negusse and her team and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of professional yet personal GI services.
