I would like to file a formal complaint regarding an experience I had with the head registered nurse, during the morning shift on Sunday, July 19, 2026. I am a stage IV cancer patient with several serious medical conditions that make it extremely difficult for me to care for myself. My wife is my primary caregiver, but she must also work, so while I am in the hospital, I rely on the nursing staff for assistance with my basic care. While my assigned nurse was on break, I called for assistance because my G-tube was leaking significantly, soaking the dressing and making a mess across my stomach. At the same time, my feet were severely swollen and extremely painful, making it impossible for me to get up or care for myself. When Nurse responded, I explained that the dressing needed to be changed because it was completely soaked. Instead of helping me, she appeared to want me to place another dressing over the wet, soiled one and leave it that way. I also told her that I had been vomiting and asked for an emesis bag. Her response was, "You are asking for too much." I was shocked and deeply hurt by that statement. She handed me the supplies and walked out of the room in what I felt was a very rude and dismissive manner. As a patient who is fighting stage IV cancer and has been told that I may only have weeks or months to live, I expect to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. Instead, I felt like I was a burden for asking for basic nursing care. I have always taken the time to recognize and compliment the excellent nurses and doctors who have cared for me during my hospital stays. They work incredibly hard, and I truly appreciate their dedication. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to file a complaint because my experience with Nurse was unlike anything I have encountered. What concerns me even more is that she is a head registered nurse. Leadership in nursing should set the standard for compassionate, patient-centered care and serve as a positive example for the rest of the staff. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those values. I am sharing this not only for myself but also for other patients who may be too sick, too frightened, or unable to advocate for themselves. No patient--especially one facing a terminal illness--should ever feel dismissed or made to feel like they are asking for too much when requesting necessary medical assistance. I respectfully ask that this matter be investigated and addressed appropriately. My hope is that no other patient experiences the treatment that I received. I had surgery a few days ago at the Cass St. surgery center and they were amazing on all counts…read more From the nurse who checked me in, to the amazing nurse who put in my IV (the only part of surgery that I really dread) to the anesthesia doctor, and whoever it was who very patiently helped me to dress on leaving that day, they were all so kind and compassionate that before surgery even began I felt like I had my own personal, elite squad of care. Thank you to all of you, and also the 2 new nurses introduced to me in the operating room as I was saying hello while succumbing to the anesthesia. I remember laughing to myself as they wheeled me down the hall, and saying I felt like a famous formula 1 driver and they were my superstar pit crew! Thanks again for making a surgery day go smooth and without fear.

They know how to help you relax and have a little fun before and after the procedures. I've had four different surgeons. They were all top notch. The facility is clean, busy and full of people who care and try to make your procedure as smooth as possible. I rather enjoyed the chatter amongst the staff. It showed me that they enjoyed their job and their co-workers. It was a true team experience. I highly recommend any of their Monterey facilities.

Having been involved in the behavioral healthcare system for most of my life, I've experienced a wide range of mental health professionals. Laura, however, stands in a category all of her own. She is one of the only providers I've ever worked with who genuinely, deeply cares. Her dedication shows through her actions and her consistency in going the extra mile. In my case, she even went through the process of becoming specially certified in a specific medication just so she could provide me with the treatment I needed.
